Supia Girls Discussion Thread Part IX

Feb 20, 2021

    1. Thank u so much for the answer!
Unfortunately all the sizing i can see on Sartoria's store is SD, MSD... maybe im looking in a wrong way, i dont know

    2. SD basically means Iplehouse SID or EID.most of my SD sized girls are in that size range and stuff either fits just right or a bit loose (2012-era Soom SG, LoongSoul 69cm girl, DZ 65cm girls, etc.)

    3. Thanks a lot!
Im just very much unexperienced with the girls of this size. I have either smartdoll, DD, big Pasha, DC, Lillycats that r all smaller than 60 cms or i have boys 70+ n NK Stadnik that is over 80cms. Have been dreaming of Supia for years n years n it never happened... until now, i hope :))
Taking into consideration my experience with big boys, they never share the same clothes or shoes (i have popo70, 5th motif, idealian), so i thought that would be a problem for Supia too to find the exact match.

    4. Hi all have anyone heard from Supia lately? Their Q&A stop responding since Sep 11. I posted my question there and emailed them but got no reply. Need to ask faceup and ballerina feet to my order *_*

    5. I tried to mail them more than a month ago regarding some info cause I want to ordera body but never got a reply....

    6. would anyone be able to tell me if luts real skin white and supia white/cream white are a colour match?

    7. I just saw an angry post on their Q&A today and that gives me anxiety, so I went ahead and opened disputes for all my payments on paypal. I can’t get back the 1st payment as it’s over 6mths but will see if the artist replies. I ordered once from them before and it was good but idk what happens this time.

    8. Paypal did once refund a payment that was over six months because it was the down payment for an order I filed a claim on.

I think Supia is still a one person shop so anything could have happened. I hope everything works out.

    9. In my experience Supia replies to Q&A and email every 2 weeks or so. They are more responsive on Q&A than email.

Delivery times seem to be on the longer side lately. I received my order fine a couple of months ago, but it definitely took longer than their estimated processing time. Hope everything works out for you all!

    10. I also had some issues getting replies lately (in the past it might take them a couple days to a couple weeks, but this was a bit over a month), but got a response and my order has been updated to 'before shipping.' I was in contact with them because my address had changed since I submitted the order, but they've confirmed they got my address change, etc. Hope they got in contact with you at this point!

/edit - just wanted to add that even though it has definitely been longer to receive a reply, their wait time doesn't seem all that different than it has been throughout the pandemic, so I'm not concerned by the wait time (I ordered two dolls from Supia in 2020). Other doll companies I've ordered from in 2021 also have very similar wait times.

    11. Supia seems to be back? They just posted about a new doll in the News section and seems to have answered all the Q&A on their site.

    12. Yes finally they replied to my message on Q&A. They should have send a notice if the production is delayed by Covid because my order early this year was shipped normally. But they give me free makeup and free feet so I won’t complain anymore.

    13. Why? Why should they have spent time they quite obviously don't have to spare sending notice to individual customers about Covid-related delays? So it takes even longer to fulfill orders because they wasted time informing everyone of something we all already know by now? Covid has been wreaking havoc with supply chains and workforces for well over a year at this point, it's a fact of life that doesn't seem to be going away any time soon. Good for you that they gave you free makeup and feet, but I wonder how much mollifying you delayed other people's orders

    14. I don't know why you think I delayed other people orders? If you look at Q&A board there are many more people asking about their order status and those are ones paid in full. My order was in layaway for 6months and I didn’t ask anything until I paid my last payment and went to their website to notice them, then saw other people are asking about their orders, so of course I start to wonder why supia stops replying on Q&A for over a month.

Hobby or not this is still a business if they sell a product and if suddenly production has problem they should send make a notice on their website or send a mass email to all customers, or just make a post on instagram. But instead I only saw they posted new doll on instagram while ignoring customers message and emails. I did say their production was fine early 2021.

You should go to their Q&A and see an angry post of another one paid over $700 for their doll and still waiting. I wonder if you say the same thing if you buy other expensive product and the company doesn’t communicate for over a month.

I work for an art gallery and I send emails to notice customers right away whenever there’s a change with their thousands dollar paintings being ordered. Otherwise they can get their money back anytime.

so I don’t see the point where I worry about the company taking my money and not communicating has anything to do with others order? They don’t start making my doll until I pay all my layaway, which was over 6months. And just to be clear I did ask how to pay for makeup and ballerina feet for my order because I didn’t add them in my order but they offer those for free as an apology. If you are so angry maybe offer to help them instead.

    15. I really hope they get their business together again, and it was sad I couldn't finish my own order due to them because it had a lot of things I wanted and had to hunt down 2nd hand later. These communication problems have existed at least since this summer. I ordered a body at the very beginning of this year, and they emailed me in the end of March the shipping is scheduled to late April. I however heard nothing back from them so I wrote to them via the same email chain where they had earlier taken my add-on order (when I wanted to buy more, they had responded fast, within the same day). I inquired about shipping at the beginning of May and again at the end of May, and 20 days after the second inquiry Supia responded it has been delayed and will ship by the end of May. I heard nothing back in May, so at the beginning of June I inquired again. Nothing. I inquired again at the beginning of July and again in mid-July! Still Nothing, at this point it had been over 2 months since I heard from them.

Mid-July I got an "about-to-arrive" announcement from my own local Post that there is a random parcel that is sent to me and is still in Korea and has been stuck there for a month (I had multiple dolls on order at the time so had no clue). The sender name was a random Korean name unfamiliar to me. I noticed on 17track the parcel had some "abnormal" status updates about it getting returned to sender due to "invalid certificate of origin", whatever that meant, never saw such before. To get a message through I opened a PP claim within the very last days of my protection period, which finally got Supia to respond and confirm it was their parcel.

Soon after, the parcel got returned to them, according to their words, all soaked. It never left Korea despite all the address data being correct on it, and they didn't exactly give me an explanation as to why it happened except "Covid", but it was a very unhappy coincidence because at the same time all my other Korean EMS was arriving just fine within 2 weeks of shipment. They said these particular goods were too destroyed to resend but they would resend new goods to fulfill my order if I closed the PP claim. During any other circumstances I would have done so and waited for the new shipment, but being left absolutely alone without even bothering so much as to send me a tracking code or respond to me in 2 months when I simply inquire if this is my order, it did it for me. I did not want to risk being left in radio silence again if more problems occurred with the remade order, so I went through with it and got a refund. I had to call it their damages for their poor customer service, as wrong as I felt doing it to a small artist. However, I don't think I was all too much of a bother or being an unreasonable customer if after spending over half a grand I wanted to ask about the belated shipping approximately twice a month and waited 2 months for a reply before opening a claim.

    16. @vauhtikatti I’m sorry to hear that your order didn’t arrive safely. Luckily you still get your money back. The 1st time I ordered with them was Nov 2020 and the order arrived ok. The box had some damage but luckily the doll was fine. Sadly I didn’t like the normal skin so I sold her right away and placed new order when they released new skin colours. During waiting time I emailed them to extend my layaway and they replied within few days said it was ok, so I thought I was lucky they don’t have limit time for layaway.

They said my order has been put into production so I just hope it will be finished because I can no longer open disputes with pp. Tbh I didn’t check their website and their Q&A during those 6 months, just their instagram and I see they still post quite often. I even checked the artist personal insta.

I think the point to share all these information is for everyone to consider before placing an order with them, because let’s be honest not all of us being rich to just don’t care about $500 being lost for no reason. I’m glad they reply now but what if they don’t keep their promise? Who will refund my payment and other people money? If we don’t talk about what happened no one will know. Rather than releasing new doll I wish the artist made sure all current orders are delivered. I will update again hopefully by March next year if my Heeji arrives.

    17. I was wondering if anyone has gotten the new normal skintone called peach? I'm wondering if it's more like the color 6 or 7 years ago? It used to match Fairyland really well?? Does anyone have those two skin tones to check for me? Thanks so much :) :thumbup

    18. That's so disappointing and unfortunate! Although I've had similar wait times with other companies throughout the pandemic, other companies have been communicative about delays or with any questions, which I've really appreciated given these longer wait times.

Unfortunately, I don't have the new peach, but I'm waiting on a rose pink lina head and will have some comparisons with the ns body I have for the head (it's definitely pink, so hopefully they match okay!) and my other dolls.

      • x 2
    19. I'm curious to see rose pink too! Do you perhaps own any switch rosy white or dfa/dfh/2d doll pink skin to compare it to when you get it?

    20. Yes! I can compare the head to Doll Family - H. I'm putting him on a DF-H NS pink body and can also compare it to my telesthesia NS and old supia (2020) NS.

      • x 1
    21. Yay thank you! I'm trying to understand which color can match my Switch rosy white head, and since I can compare by myself with DFH cause I own one too it's gonna be super helpful :love hybriding is always a pain for color matching q_q

    22. Thanks @DawnDusk , that will be good to see as well :D

    23. Thanks for pointing her out @keara ! She is really pretty!

    24. Sorry if this has been answered before. I'm waiting on my girl on the ballerina body. I never had a SD before and the terms are a little confusing. Do you guys have any reccomendations for clothing sizes that will fit?? Like terms I can search in etsy etc. Thanks in advance

    25. From what I've experienced, SD or 1/3 girl clothing can fit or can be a little tight depending upon the fabric chosen as the ballerina body is pretty curvy in the thigh/booty area, haha. I've also tried 1/3 boy clothing, but then those tend to be a bit baggy. This thread might be helpful: /threads/supia-60cm-ballerina-body-what-fits.829286/

    26. I'm right with @DawnDusk , the bum is pretty big! If you like flared skirts, NP, pants will take a bit. I bought a pair of jeans for an Iplehouse SID that turned out really big. The maker made them big, so I got lucky because they fit her perfectly :D

    27. I've painted my Naomi, so I show her here! She is still in need of a wig, oops.

    28. She looks awesome!! Did you get her in gray skin or did you blush her to be gray?

    29. I've also ordered clothing from some etsy stores where the owners took measurements and those have fit great (not sure if we're allowed to plug stores? But please feel free to message me!).

    30. WOW!

    31. My lina head finally shipped (arrived in just a couple days, which is nice, but definitely was over the estimated 90 business day mark, fyi)! His name is Lark -- he's a rose pink head with the normal B make up on a DF-H normal pink 56cm body. The head is a pinch paler, but it's pretty much unnoticeable with a faceup in my opinion (the pictures make the difference more noticeable than it looks in person, even). Please excuse his lack of clothing -- I don't have clothes for him yet and the hideously expensive eyes I had bought for him apparently got lost in one of my tWO moves since I've ordered this head, so he might have these in for a while...

If you'd like any other comparisons or other pictures, let me know and I can take some better pictures this weekend.

    32. Wow, I love him!
Could you get more comparison pics of the headcap and the body? So I can check the colors better, and maybe I'm finally gonna find out if rose pink is gonna work for my hybrid too :D

    33. So, I took a million photos and this seemed to be the most accurate (the body looks peachier here than it is in person though -- but I think you can see here that the head is lighter):

This isn't a great photo, but you can see the wood flooring here that might be causing the body to look yellower? Either way, I'm posting this in case anyone would like to see a full body shot for proportions of the body to head.

    34. Thank you! These pics are perfect, I may really try to get that supiadoll65 body in rose pink cause it looks light enough for my head.

    35. Wow, what a beautiful magical creature!!!

    36. Hi, Everyone!

I ordered my Supia Lina this week, so I'm starting to think about the custom eyes that I will have made. I'm using the same person as last time because they did an incredible job! Supia's website says that she takes 16mm eyes, but I wanted to see if I could find any owners out there who could verify that that size fits and looks good. She looks a bit doe-eyed, so I'm nervous about ordering the wrong size.

If anyone has any photos of their Lina, I would really love to see them. :) I ordered the ballerina body, an extra pair of hands, the heel and pointe feet, and her sleeping head. I am super excited to meet her.

One last thing...Before I ordered my Jacob, I was hunting around for owner photos and there weren't many out there. Before I started trying to mess around with faceups, I might take some photos of the blank head for reference, in case anyone was trying to decide about him. I thought I would like to add them to the forum but wasn't quite sure where to put them. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it!

I hope that I put this in the right spot.

      Thanks!

    37. References are good. If you have some other thing in shot to show color or scale that also helps. Even more helpful if you do photos of the doll next to other dolls. As for categorization, the post would probably work in either the Main Gallery sub-forum or the Photo Reference section.
I'm still getting the hang of eye sizing myself. The measurements for eyes given by companies/artists seem to be more a suggestion than a rule. My RS Mei is wearing 16mm and my Angell Studio Amy is wearing 10mm, and their heads are about the same size. Insert shrug emoji. Something that has helped is to take a bead that I know the the size of in milimeters and hold it in the eye opening to gauge about what size iris would look good.

    38. I don't have any other dolls to photograph him with- he was my first! He also has their brand new normal skin tone (peach), so I think that might be helpful for others, too. I'm just so rotten at photography. I have to do some reading on how to get the colors accurate.

Its cold here now, so I probably have months before I can do a faceup anyway. There's no rush.

I wonder if I asked Supia to recommend eye sizes? The DoA users that have dolls seem to be from long ago, so I don't know how active they still are.

I might be able to post or ask around on the internetz somewhere. She won't ship for months, so there's no rush there either, you know?

    39. Hello:kitty2

My Supia Lina's currently wearing 16mm small iris eyes from Safrin Doll. Here are a couple photos of her with them:

      Hope this helps!

      • x 8
    40. I like to look at the doll profiles on DoA to find examples of different eye sizes for a sculpt because people often list them there. I see a few Linas with 12mm eyes and one with 14mm listed. Honestly, I've found that the company sites almost universally list an eye size that is too large, at least for my taste.

    41. Thanks for these pics! She's so pretty! My boy, Jacob, was done with small irises and I think I will probably do hers the same. Can I see a closeup of the detail in the eye itself? I need a darker, almost hunter green, but these are lovely.
Can I search by sculpt? I was digging through some sub sections of the forum, but I haven't quite figured out this navigation thing yet.

    42. Glad the photos were helpful.:kitty2

I snapped a quick photo with my smartphone cam of a closeup on my Lina. Hopefully the details were be clear enough for you (the irises have a slightly darker green ring around the edge of the iris, a slightly lighter shade in the middle, and a brownish ring around the pupil).
Also, if you need to see her with different eye sizes, I can grab some quick photos for reference for you.:3nodding:

      • x 3

    43. Oh my goodness, that would be so helpful!

      Thanks SO MUCH!

My pair of blue eyes has a grey ring around the iris. I'm wondering what color they would choose to go with that darker green. I left that up to the artist because I have no idea what I'm doing, and I'm generally happy with whatever I'm given, you know?

I actually wonder if she has different size eyes in some of the pictures on the Supia website. I was looking through Supia's Photobucket album and there's another set that also looks different. The website just said that it would come with 16mm eyes, so I was afraid to deviate and have it be wrong. Custom eyes aren't cheap, and my superpower is being an overthinker and super agonizer.

    44. Yes, in the Doll Profiles section (under "Community") you can do a custom search by Maker and Head Sculpt. It's a really nice resource! I never remember to try adding my dolls though...

Also I love the green hair on your girl jade-eyed-cat!

    45. I managed to get some photos of Lina with a few pairs of eyes in a variety of size and irises. Below is a reference photo of the eyes on their own:
From left to right: blue 14/5mm iris, hazel blue 14/7mm iris, violet 12/6mm iris, green and brown (original pair) 16/8mm iris.

The photos of each pair will be under the spoiler tag:
(Don't mind the awkward angling of the irises. They were giving me a bit of a time:XD:.

With the 14mm, there's some slight gapping. For the 12mm ones it's more obvious. It appears that the 16mm fit most flush to the eye-hole, but 14mm might be workable depending how picky you are about fit.

      Thanks!:kitty2

      • x 2
    46. That really is very helpful! Thank you! So 16 is the best choice, overall. I just have to decide on what reference photos to send the artist. Time for my overthinking superpower to kick in!

I don't know how you got those in so easy! It takes burnt sacrifice for me to even attempt to get the eyes in a good placement on Jacob. I would imagine a lot of it is just practice though.

    47. Glad to hear the photos were helpful. As for expedient eye changes—it could be from practice. I do also create a ring of poster tack round the back edge at the base of the eye, press the tack against the outer rims once placed in the eye socket, and guide the eyes into the proper position with my finger on the exposed eye backing. I’ve had the best luck with with white sticky poster tack for this.:kitty2

    48. Is anyone able to compare the light tan and the original tan with the current beige and milk brown skin tones? I like the promo photos with the tans and want to order a doll that will come out similar, but I don't know what will be the closest match.

      • x 1
    49. I have a few photos that I was sent by Supia themselves, comparing a few different skintones. It may not have all of the ones you're looking for, but it should have at least a couple. I will dig for them when I get home tonight, as they're deeply wedged in my email.

    50. thanks!

    51. Okay, let's see if I get this posting images thing right!

This is what Supia said regarding the skin tones that I had asked about.

I really hope that helps a little. :)

    52. I'll try to find some different eyes and pop them in my lina!

    53. There's a supiadoll boy doll discussion thread floating around somewhere. c: That'd probably be a good place! /edit - whoops sorry -- I don't know how I missed the responses to this, haha.

    54. /edit - lol sorry I didn't realize someone had already responded, but more lina eye pics I guess, haha.

16mm is what I think fits the eye well the best (smaller sizes may have gapping, larger sizes may not sit within the eye well), but the actual size of the iris/pupil is just what you prefer. I personally prefer lina with 14mm eyes but I like smaller eyes in general.

Lina with 12mm eyes - There's significant gapping. If someone wanted 12mm you might want to look for those wide style eye shapes. The ones here are standard:

      Lina with 14mm eyes
      - I was trying to get a picture where you could see the pupil difference, the brown has a smaller pupil, but I'm not sure you can tell...:

    55. Thank you very, very much for this. I'm definitely going to go with the 16mm. I did small iris on my boy, and I'm going to do it for my girl. I noticed that they had different sizes of iris in the 16mm, so I just have to navigate that chasm, I guess.

    56. I'm really digging her green hair :D

I'm looking for jointed hands for my (2019) NS supia. Specifically eyeing heydoll. Does anyone know whether yellow or pink would be closest?

    57. I don't own anything from Heydoll, but if you don't find an answer here, a dealer (I think cloversinging is a dealer for them) might have experience with supiadoll resin colors and could give you an answer?
