I think my Supia coming home soon - my status changed to "Before Shipping." I can't wait to get - I got Esther and a Hael head.
Just thought I would post this here in case anyone is interested in this hybrid. My Supia dreaming Roda on a doll family H 63cm girl body. Her head is white and body is normal pink. I simply blushed Roda'shead to match.
Sorry I am spamming these from another thread, but I am SO happy she's home! Here is Sarah (Juah) with faceup by Chi no Tenshi Aesthetics. I waited many, many years to get this girl all put together, and she arrived home from her faceup today.
I thought so too, that's why I wanted to share. It's not too bad a body if you want something softer than supia's amazing amazonian woman's body, which I absolutely love as well, LOL Oh my, Sarah is gorgeous, and I love her outfit! What a cute baby. they match up perfectly Great job on everything @Sandwich
@IngieBee, she is Sarah from 1986's Labyrinth! Definitely a fun watch if you haven't seen it before. Starring David Bowie, a young Jennifer Connelly, and a bunch of goblin puppets by Jim Henson and Brian Froud. Still my #1 movie after all these years!
@Sandwich I am ashamed to say that I have yet to see it. My kids have, and we've laughed over scenes, but watching the movie is something I have yet to do!
So @Sandwich , do you have your Goblin King? I once saw a Dollshe Saint done up as him-- good choice of sculpt, I thought. @IngieBee you ought to put it on your watch list! It has dated very very well.
I do not! I have seen some really really good ones out there and those are enough for me, I think. I'm never saying never, though I am definitely more interested in some art dolls depicting the goblins and other creatures of the labyrinth. I love Jareth of course, but what captivated my imagination most as a kid was the idea of going on a quest with a bunch of monsters as your friends!
@krystina and @Alewife, thank you guys so much for your Labyrinth love. And of course @IngieBee, I wouldn't have ever managed this either if you hadn't posted some photos for me with your ballerina-bodied girl in some SID jeans! I ended up ordering some from etsy and agree it's a great fit. I also had to commission the shirt and vest in SID size since that was the closest model the seamstress had and it works very well on the ballerina body (though the style is oversized to begin with, so I lucked out there). I really adore this doll and am super glad I waited to purchase her on the ballerina body! It is really just so beautiful as well as sturdy, but now that I have her I am itching to justify purchasing a 65cm one. I really need to rebody my first doll love, the original Dollstown Triste who has not yellowed as much as her old Volks body...but I also really want a gray Lana with those glorious elf ears! I bought Sarah on the old normal right before the Great Color Addendum of '21, but the color is just a hair too light and too pink for my old Triste. Ah, well...I'm just going to keep watching this space while I try to make up my mind and enjoy everyone else's girls too!
@Sandwich I'm glad to hear such things about the ballerina body - I'm eagerly awaiting for my Supia to come home (still stuck on "Before Shipping"). And wow you have a Triste! Dollstown has some beautiful dolls I been wanting one for a long time but I'm in the same boat as you - might just get another Supia as the new tans are just so tempting
As promised, here are my owner photos of Supia Milk Brown! She's a Rosy with Smoky B faceup on a Ballerina 60 body. Some thoughts so far: - Rosy is GORGEOUS! I can't stop staring at her face!! - The Milk Brown resin color is a very warm brown tone and looks really lovely, even with a cool-tone color story (as in my styling for her) - The faceup is beautiful and detailed, with lots of shimmer! In later photos I changed out her eyelashes to suit my personal style. - Ballerina feet are super gorgeous. I forgot to take photos, but sculpting-wise, they are my favorite feet of the options. Some posing and stringing woes: - She was strung really weirdly when she arrived, one leg was looser than the other and it messed with her balance. After a restringing she stands fine. Unsure if this is a common thing. - I love the Ballerina body aesthetics and posing! However, she can't hold a 90deg straight without leaning back, even after tilting her torso forward. It can hold for a bit, but the slightest bump will cause her to fall back. My friend helped me hot glue suede her waist joint and now she sits up fine. I strongly recommend sueding the waist joint for this. - Despite the one sitting flaw, the body poses BEAUTIFULLY. The joint mobility is amazing, especially shoulders, elbows and hips. Overall, I really enjoy this girl and hope you all do too ^^ She's a current favorite Lemme know if folks have questions! Spoiler: more photos
Wow, I love how they did her faceup, she is indeed amazing! Congratulations . Beautiful outfits as well!
@keara she is gorgeous! Love the new skintone and of course, that faceup! I honestly don't know of any other artist whose "default" faceups make me want to buy a whole 'nother doll just so I can have one! I didn't have issues with the stringing on my ballerina body but I will eventually get around to sueding the waist joint also. And YES those ballerina feet are absolutely something else! I am not using them for my girl's character but probably will for a future doll...they're really too beautiful.
thanks @IngieBee and @Sandwich ! I'm super smitten with her She's been on my radar for years, super glad to have her home! Supia does make beautiful dolls
@keara your Rosy is so pretty I definitely regret not ordering the new tans lol . I love the way you styled her.
I'm trying to remember! I checked my gmail but didn't see anything...either it was filtered to spam (and later deleted) or I never got an email. I am almost positive I did get a tracking number though! I can't recall if it was simply sent to spam or if it was available when I logged in on the site to check my order status.
I got an email notification for my girl that shipped mid Aug! The title of the email was supiadoll - The Goods which <your name here> ordered is delivering.
I don't remember, but I think the order status updated on the website tipped me off cause I had been checking it regularly
Thanks everyone! I actually got a notification from DHL that I have a package coming My Supia should be here by next Wednesday
Oh awesome @krystina! I am especially looking forward to seeing Hael, another of my favorites. Did you get either with faceups?
Thank you Sandwich No and I’m regretting it lol. I’m going to be doing the faceups it’s been a while since I did face-ups- I’m a bit rusty
I got my Supia early and I’m loving the aesthetics of the ballerina body but I’m not loving the posing Is it normal for her joints to pop out when trying to sit the body or does that sound like a stringing issue? The belly joint pops out sometime - I think it might need a restringing(?) Also, is it recommended getting her sueded (hot glue only or with sueding material) or should I get it wired? I’ve never had a doll body this challenging before but I oddly love it I can’t wait for the weekend, Im hoping to attempt a faceup on the Ester sculpt.
@krystina I definitely have issues with mine sitting so my solution was just to slap her on a stand! I'm not the best problem-solver, unfortunately!
I've had the belly popping issue with both Supia bodies I've had (the 60cm Ballerina and the 60cm DJ) Honestly, the Ballerina body is much better with the belly-popping (man that sounds...wrong?) than the DJ body, my DJ body did that CONSTANTLY, but moving the knot up into the chest helped quite a bit on both bodies. I'm not a fan of sueding my dolls, and I'm firmly anti-wiring, so bit of a bias
For belly popping, sueding the waist joint helped a lot! It also helped her sit up straight (90deg). I'm usually not a fan of sueding either but the difference was hard to deny I do agree it is a challenging body and I'm still getting used to her. But she does pose really beautifully~
Thank you @keara Yes 90deg is what I’m looking for. I’m playing around with posing- ballerina body does best kneeling poses I find I think I will go the sueding route for at least the belly and perhaps the hip joints.
Does someone perhaps own a 65cm double jointed body and can try a male Switch head on it? I was planning to make my HuisaD from Switch as a girl, and I fell in love with the aesthetic of the Supia65cm body, but I’m not sure they’re gonna fit well. I would like to see it on the 60cm double jointed body too if possible, but I fear that less that 64/65cm will be small for the head
It's a shame you don't own any But if I can ask, could you show me how the body poses? I saw Supia pictures and posing looks very nice, but I trust more owner pictures for judging there aren't a lot of owner pictures around
I hope this link works, from my flickr account : Supiadoll Also, some comparisons with the ballerina body on my site: Realistic SD BJD / Supia Doll SD | The Impish Elf this page is page 6 or so, just move to page 7 for more
Thank you! I checked them all and I love the range of posing and the body anatomy of the 65cm. The only thing that's weird is the sitting position, but I already knew about that issue (I read somewhere there's a way to fix it, but I forgot where).
I really love the F65 body as well. To me, it's beautiful. Also, I have lots of different bodies and none of them are perfect
True, there isn't a perfect body! The 65 has some things I don't like (the sitting issue mostly) but overally the things I like about it are everything else so I think it's gonna be a great choice. I just need to understand which is the right resin color for my hybrid now, since Supia had the bright idea of changing all their resin colors and I can't find color comparison
If you still need one, I have a ballerina 62cm body and a Hahwah head I could try for you? No color match, though, lol!
Incoming lots of photos~ Supia 62cm body Switch Hahwa hybrid Supia 62cm body Switch Hahwa hybrid Supia 62cm body Switch Hahwa hybrid Supia 62cm body Switch Hahwa hybrid Supia 62cm body Switch Hahwa hybrid Supia 62cm body Switch Hahwa hybrid Supia 62cm body Switch Hahwa hybrid Don't like how Flickr is making it difficult to post the image, ick. I will try to fix this when I get home. These should definitely be different links. These show proportions are super nice. There is still a gap on the neck. But literally you can only see it if you're looking from the bottom. Side profile looks nice and doesn't show the gap. Big suggestion, though, be sure to have a larger s hook on file or a neck donut. My Supia hook slipped right off and hit the neck joint and dinged it! Oh noes /o\ I included a pic of the Supia hook alongside a Resinsoul hook that did work perfectly.
Hello can I ask what resin color is for both the ballerina body and the switch head? I’m thinking of doing a Switch head X Supia Ballerina body and any info regarding resin color comparisons would be much appreciated.
Thank you for the pics! It works surprisingly well, I didn’t expect it honestly. I bet Supia larger shoulders help a lot making the proportions look right. And for the neck, I bet making a neck donut is gonna fix the gaping if that bothers aesthetically. Can I ask you what color is your head and the body? So I know at least that they’re not a match
You're welcome! For all curious, the Supia body is the Supia normal. I received her in March of this year and right around when the new colors were announced. It's a definite yellowish tone. The head is Switch Rosy White (Edit: Apparently I can't type the correct resin colors of my own dolls, lol) and is very similar to Dollmore normal or Resinsoul normal. (Moreso to Dollmore.) I do have a Switch Haseo head in Normal (original), but I haven't really compared it to the Supia and didn't have a chance to look before work. I'll update when I get a chance to! For hybrids, I think looking at the newest tones or being prepared to color match would be a good bet. Color matching on some shouldn't be hard as long as they're in the relative ball park! @IngieBee I absolutely agree! I honestly thought my Hahwa head looked amazing on the Supia body! I've been playing around and have found a couple really interesting and amazing choices, too. For example, Dollmore Bella Auden looks freaking amazing on this bod!!!
Hi Everyone! It feels so good to actually present a full BJD. I have many head heads but she is my first whole doll. Please meet Serita, she is a Supia Heeji with custom dye (RIT), tattoos and faceup. I never liked Supiadoll until I ran across a BJD sales page from the original owner on Instagram. The owners Heeji was completely different and accentuated her lips, something I’ve never seen on Supiadoll website. I’m a sucker for open mouth sculpts and big lips, so an impulse buy she was. Not knowing if I still wanted her while doing layaway lol. But, the owner was kind enough to do a full custom job to my specifications. She is absolutely beautiful with a range of expressions. I’m never letting her go. iCloud iCloud iCloud iCloud iCloud
Hi, guys, im very excited now waiting for my first Supia 65 body n im wondering if the SD outfits of SartoriaJ would correspond to it? I was trying to find the measurements on their website but i failed... maybe i just wasnt attentive enough. Would really appreciate if someone gives me a hint, thanks a lot
I've heard that the 65 fits iplehouse SID clothing, so anything listed as fitting that should work, and iirc, the SJ body is still made to fit similar clothing
