St. Louis BJD Convention - April 13th-14th, 2018

I would like to attend again! But that would all depend on finding a ride out west or not

 

I am gonna try to make it if I can!!!

 

I'm so happy to have a convention this close. My daughter (and me!) can't wait. I lived in Missouri years ago. For anyone needing to burn off some extra time in St Louis, I highly recommend the City Museum. Nothing like it in the world.

 

Hello to all!
I'm considerin to attend the Con this year, but if I do I'll need a place to stay for the weekend. The CON website don't have hotel information. Any suggestions?

 

The Union Station downtown is beautiful and has a lovely hotel.

 

There's no distinct con-hotel. And the location of the con is somewhat central in the county. I live in Overland (the city that the con is in, basically, we're in St. Louis County). I'm unsure where other out of towners are staying. I agree that Union Station is gorgeous. It'd be about a 20-25 minute drive to the con from there. There's also plenty of hotels by the Airport which is probably about 5 minutes away. By the airport there's a Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Renaissance (used to manage an office that used this hotel exclusively and our clients loved it), Quality Inn, and Hilton. My extended family, when they come in to town, stay at the Springhill Suites by Marriott down off Hanley. It's probably about 10-15 minutes from the con and is also very nice. If you find one you're interested in I can try to do investigative work for you or give you the local's perspective.

Did I mention the City Museum? Yeah I know, museum, right? No. Think of it as an art gallery/museum/amusement park built by a schizophrenic millionaire. 10 story slides, originally shoe chutes inside an old shoe factory. Wait, what? That's only a tame and less dangerous part. And yes they even have (dismembered) dolls.

My husband and I will be going to the con, and since the 13th is our 10th wedding anniversary, we're just going to make a full vacation of it. We were hoping to find interesting things to do, so I think this just might need to go on our list!

I have gone the last two years and stayed at the La Quinta Inn in Maryland Heights. It's very clean and safe, and they have a continental breakfast, plus coffee and tea in the rooms. We'll probably be staying there again this year if we can.

 

I am excited for this. I have not been able to attend in the past, because I worked on Saturdays, but this year I get to go.

Steampunk isn't my thing, but somehow I have a lot of options in this style for my dolls XD Can't wait to see everyone!

 

I can't wait to see you again! Steampunk really isn't my thing either, but I did consider making LucyFaire (DollFactory Devil Bobo) a steampunk dress or something. Or maybe Mr. E (Aimerai Enfield Horror) needs a top hat. :P

I spent about five minutes looking up alternative steampunk to get some different ideas and that was fun. Hopefully we can pull some stuff off!

 

Yeah, I'm definitely going simple with the steampunk. I'd rather save my money for the dealer room and swap meet that spend it on a one time use costume. XD

I wanted to go but I have friends that easily talked me out of it. I'm so sad. Maybe I can convince my girlfriend to go next year. It's kinda close to Astl and we both have to drive but we'll see.
