Spiritdoll 1/4 Smart Mini discussion Part 2

I've ordered dolls from SpiritDoll twice but the most recent was 2014 or so therefore service might have changed a bit. I waited about 4 months for each doll (Herculean and Innocent) to be made but I had no expectations that it would be a short wait. Neither faceup was quite right but my instructions for one might have been mistranslated. Neither was bad and neither was worth returning the doll for. I did always have quick replies to my inquiries. I'll probably order from them again as my collection still needs a Candlenut and possibly a Fantasy Line girl.

 

I have Basil, the boy version of Catnip. He is beautiful and well finished! He did take four months to arrive. I ordered in September and got him in January.

Thanks for weighing in! Basil was the first 'boy' doll I was tempted to buy so I'd love to see photos if you get around to it. But, I'll order Catnip and expect the 4 month wait....as soon as the funds add up.

 

I had a pretty terrible time ordering from spiritdoll and it honestly makes me hesitate to ever order from them again. I really want a tan snowdrop, but not sure if I'll just search secondhand for her. Spiritdoll "accidentally" skipped/lost my order and regardless of my emailing them countless times to ask what was going on...it took 8 months for it to finally get sorted. She finally made it home to me 8 months and a week later and I had to personally email the head of the company to get a response about where my doll was. I kept getting the runaround for like two months in August and September and I was beginning to lose hope. The worst part was my order had just passed the claim point on PayPal so I couldn't even get my money back if they never did get it sorted on their end. Thankfully they did. I don't know if my order got messed up because their website goes down a lot or what, but thank god for DOA or I wouldn't have noticed my order was skipped. When I first placed my order I noticed my order never moved out of order confirmed for like two months. In the first two weeks, I emailed them about it because I thought well I still have time to change my order to tan instead of keeping it in normal skin. They said-no it's a computer glitch. My order was actually processing, even though it only said confirmed. But it stayed as confirmed for two months. Pretty sure that glitch is why my order never was made. I had emailed them in July because I was going out of town and wanted to be sure someone would be around to sign for the package. Since I was quoted 5 months at the most to wait, I figured July-August was really pushing it for my order. They responded to me with my order was nowhere near ready and they would email me with a tracking number when it was ready, so I didn't need to worry. When someone who ordered the exact same thing as me two months after my order received their order in August, I emailed them and asked what was going on. They said again, my order was nowhere near ready, but they would look into it. Another month went by and I emailed them again, and I didn't hear from them for a week. So I messaged them again and mentioned the situation about the person receiving their order way before mine and where was my doll and finally in the most roundabout way they admitted my order had been accidentally skipped and they would make sure I would have a tracking number within a week. Took another two weeks and me emailing them again before the head of the company finally got back to me with my tracking number. It really was a shame since I really love their dolls, but it was the first bjd I ever ordered and the experience wasn't great. And the default faceup I got was definitely not worth it. I am pretty sure they must have rushed it to get my order ready or something, but I had heard their faceups weren't like the pictures and I should probably just order it blank. I wish I had because it looks like she fell on her chin. They way over blushed her chin so it looks bruised or something. But I saw recently someone else got a pretty bad faceup too. I know other people have had good ordering experiences, but I might be more willing to go through a dealer or something since their website continues to go down frequently and I don't know...they just must make me nervous. Again...it is just disappointing because their dolls are really lovely and I think the spiritdoll smart doll body is one of the best msd bodies out there too. Maybe my experience was a fluke, but this happened just this past year. I paid in full March 21, 2016 and she didn't make it home till the fall of 2016 after much harassment on my end to make it happen. I still really want a tan snowdrop though. So we shall see...I'm sure others have had better experiences than me. So I guess just be careful and be vigilant when ordering from them. And don't be afraid to email them and find out what is going on with your order. All I think about with my doll is how someone who is less willing to deal with confrontation would just be out their money right now and have no doll because if I hadn't bugged them so much, I bet my snowdrop still wouldn't be home.

 

I appreciate your response. Perhaps I'll just look for 'Catnip' on the 2nd hand market someday. I've now read several accounts about the face ups not being up to standard (or even flawed), about lack of communication and their site crashing. I ordered a doll somewhere else that I was really excited about and the company was so terrible and frustrating that by the time the doll did arrive the excitement was gone because my experience was so bad. I don't need a replay of that. Thanks!

I had an amazing experience with spiritdoll. I've purchased three dolls from them over the years and each one has been absolutely perfect. I received all of my dolls in exactly three months. I'm really nervous for them to release a doll that's cuter than snowdrop because I'm going to be compelled to buy her.

 

To weigh in on Spiritdoll service:
Both of my orders within the last 12 months have arrived within 3 months of finishing my layaway.
I recently started a layaway with them and then found a cheaper offer for the same doll elsewhere - when I mentioned this to them, they offered to refund me my layaway payments so I could get that other offer!
I ended up being so impressed that I am paying the slightly higher price just to support them!

Do you guys have any idea if NS resin will match Doll Leaves normal? I might buy her original body in the future but for now she will be a hybrid...

This is a doll in mind normal head on a spiritdoll normal body. Doll in mind normal is a near perfect match for doll leaves normal.



Finally, this is that same doll in mind head on the spiritdoll body, just to show that a blushed faceup can help greatly.

 

Soooo an update about the damaged face-up I received. I contacted them and they offered a re-do. I checked the correct return address with them and researched how to post stuff from my country to China. It seems with their postal system items get held at the post office and they get a letter telling them to pick it up. I filled out all the postal labels correctly, posted it and gave Spiritdoll the tracking number. Aaaand the head arrived back today as a return because they didn't bother to collect it from their post office.
So thanks for making me waste more money on postage, that was so helpful. Anyways, looks like i'm just going to have to sell the head to try and recoup a little bit of the money lost so yeah, I don't think i'll be buying from this company again.

 

@astromayhem Thank you so much. Doll leaves is so much paler and more pink! I would say not a good option as I would have to blush the whole body darker/yellow. May I ask who's the girl in the last picture, is she from Luts? Seems like a good match there.

Hi, I'm super tempted to order Pryus and Snowdrop but am unsure of resin matching for a hybrid.

Would someone mind, if applicable, to show a resin comparison for Spiritdoll and Fairyland's NS and TS? Are there any good resin match for girl bodies that are at least 48cm for a comparable height difference? Also, is there a huge posing difference between the single and jointed torso?

Yep that is a kid delf she is stood next to!
I don't think luts resin would match too badly, but, my kid delf was around 4 years old and I dont know what their resin is like these days.

In the second picture, of the spiritdoll boy body next to a doll leaves body, the head is actually a soom head. Soom is a pretty close match. So is dollndoll.

Be careful with soom, though, as their resin isn't particularly consistent.

I wouldn't expect dollzone or doll chateau to work, as their resin is good to hybrid with the much paler doll leaves and doll in mind.

 

I don't know this for a fact but Doll Leaves and Dollzone are sister companies so their resin might event be the same color...
I found comparison on Spiritdoll's website (FAQ section) and Luts look pretty close, maybe a bit lighter.

Yes i've contacted them again about it...and it turns out their post box is broken so they couldn't receive the collection notification. Wow...just wow. You would have thought that it was something important to mention when we were discussing their offer me returning the head for a re-do. Or if the post box broke after I posted the head then again they could have told me, as I could have kept an eye on the tracking and let them know when it was at the post office for collection. So yeah, giving up on them and selling the head as don't want to waste any more money and time on it

 

Does anyone know if the Smart bodies fit into nine9style or TTYA clothes? If not, where do you guys buy clothes for your girls?

@lucidling I don't currently have my smart girl but used to own both a smart girl and boy body. They are a weird mix between slim msd and msd. Not as slim as minifee though. You sort of have to try things to find what fits. For teeshirts, most regular msd seem to be fine. The shoulders are quite broad but not overly. For bottoms is where I had a problem. Despite being slim, the girl body has pretty wide hips/butt, and I damaged a fair amount of bottoms forcing them on her. I had the most success in just getting her to wear dresses to avoid the problem. The boy body fit bottoms fine for the most part, but both bodies have quite long legs.

 

@astromayhem (，ŏ﹏ŏ) I did initially thought they might've been regular MSD since they're thicker than most slims but ffff to find out they're an in between size is even more difficult kdksosls I need to learn how to sew ;;;;;;

 

Hey guys, I've recently discovered the Smart bodies from SD and plan on hybriding a MNF girl and a Migidoll boy. I've seen a few owner pics of the girl bodies, but hardly any of the boy bodies. Could anyone with a boy body post some owner pics with and without clothing? Thanks so much! ^_^

 

I have a few ttya tops and leggings that I believe were the "unoa" size and they fit my snowdrop quite well. Jeans snap on but they tend to pop open if she sits and they're a little short for my tastes. Leggings fit quite well and I had no issues with the tops or hoodies.

 

@haiiroko That sounds super promising! At least leggings fit well without being too short. I've always loved TTYA casual wear. Now, to wait until my Snowdrop gets shipped fffff The wait is excruciating ;;;; u ;;;;

 

My (second) Snowdrop (replacement for one I sold and regretted) just got shipped.

What eyes brand and sizes does everyone use in theirs?
I have two identical pairs of blue in different sizes, and can't remember what size hers were...

 

My Snowdrop has 12mm eyes, they are just ordinary glass eyes. I now generally use Eyeco or Safrin Doll eyes.

 

I have 12mm custom Ersa Flora eyes in my Snowdrop.

Yeah, 12mm seem to be the best with mine too!

I know resin varies by batch, but she feels totally different to my first one (and the male body I also owned from spiritdoll a year later). She's very shiny, even after lots of sealant, and she feels sorta... sticky? Almost? Almost as though she's clammy or something.

I'm hoping I grow to love her, but am worried this texture is gonna put me off.

 

My tan feels very different from my NS. Not in a way that I don't like it but I wonder if they've changed their resin at all. I got both of my NS in the same year and maybe 3 years down got my tan. It's my first tan from them and it definitely has a different feel

 

Hey guys! I tried my best reading through all these comments but there were just so many haha. I was wondering if you guys have ever tried putting mnf full set outfits on your spiritdoll smart body with large bust. I'm thinking of purchasing a mnf full set but with these huge melons I Dont think they will fit.. What brands do you guys typically purchase for your dolls? I like for my dolls to wear dresses so if you guys know of any company that might fit their body I would appreciate it. I'm fairly new in the hobby and I just got my first female msd body

Does anyone watch the Spiritdoll facebook page? Because oh man! They just announced sleeping snowdrop heads!!! Im so pumped! I bought a tan snowdrop head when I got Rhys because I wanted to mod it but now I'm going to sell it because I won't have to! I'm getting Remy and Rhys sleeping heads because I gotta!!

 

I hadn't seen that, can you link it? I really hope they're not limited, I love having sleeping options and wish all my dolls could have them!

Thank you for the link! Ugh, I really hope they're not limited, I finally hit the point where I can order the head for one of my other dolls (and a bunch of other stuff since that company doesn't sell just heads) so that's where my current doll budget needs to go right now... Please be basic!

 

So... um... Not gonna lie. I'm REALLY disappointed with the quality of the blank head. This is not what I was expecting at all. My old photoshop mock up of what a sleeping head would look like looks much better than this.

 

Oh, that's... disappointing. The eyes are really off.

 

I'm still gonna get them but boy they're gonna live in a box until I get them face upped lol. At least from the other photos we do know she looks fantastic painted but this is not the quality that I was expecting.

 

I'm a little more on the fence, now. She does look nice in photos with the faceup, but I think I'll hold off until I see some owner photos with custom faceups...

 

Yeah that's a safe way to go about it. And it's not like she's limited. She's been added to basic and the head is available whenever.

@vicemage I've decided to sell her like this without faceup and keep just my open-eyed Snowdrop. The eyes are a bit uneven and strange shape but I bet skilled FU artist will be able to correct it. I just don't think I have the patience for it.

 

SAME I was terribly disappointed when I saw the photos of the blank head. But she looks nice with a faceup so I'm hoping a custom look does the head justice.

Thank you! The eyes still look very strange to me, even in an owner photo... If they weren't so weird, she might be a priority for me to get, but I'm still pretty meh on her.

That's what I've been hoping, too. The eyes look so pinched and small blank, and I want to see how it looks after a custom faceup to know if it can look correct that way.

 

Do the bodies fit regular msd or slim msd clothing? Their bodies look veeery slim. o.o

 

Slim MSD. If a minifee can fit it, they can fit it. You just have to watch pants and long sleeves because their legs are longer as well as their arms. Now if you see anything for DC kid 01, they can share clothes with those girls too!
