I'm having a bit of a conundrum on this one... how do you guys feel about a rename?!? I been calling this lovely Snow for a long time now, but I was tossing around calling her Neve from now on?? What do you guys think?? Have you ever changed a doll's name after having them for while??

Also, I've never renamed a doll. I've considered it but the name for me became too much a part of the doll once I'd already decided on it and for me they've all stuck. But you said that Snow was a temporary name to begin with so I don't think there's a problem changing it.

 

Show me more! Love Snowdrop, even if I could still not decide to order one. But she's high on my list! So please spam more... [emoji2]

I got my shipping notification today, and it turns out Spiritdoll shipped her five days ago and she will be here TOMORROW! I'm finally joining the Snowdrop army! I no longer have to creep on everyone's Flickrs to get my Snowdrop fix!

 

Don't be alarmed if you find yourself staring at her sweet face for long periods of time or blacking out and finding her in your arms. It's all standard symptoms and pretty soon you'll stop worrying about them =)

My girl's eyes arrived today, and are perfect for her! I'm hoping there'll be a break in my schedule so I can get her blushed, but even if I don't manage it, she'll still probably get some Christmas photos to show them off. Snowdrop is an adorable sculpt even when blank.

 

I really am starting to love the tan skin for Snowdrop, her default faceup in that skin color is so lovely.....hmm.....

 

Come on, Christmas event! They did one last year. I need freebies to convince my hubs that yes, I need to order a doll NOW to take advantage of the special.

I know!!! They haven't updated in so long TT^TT .... however their blog hinted at a new body for Christmas >_<

 

Oh, yes, she's been here for a little while now! I haven't had time for new pictures (busy with school) but I'll repeat one of the ones I really liked with her when she arrived:

Oh geese!! This is all me being a goose, I remember this pretty girl now

 

No worries, ellipses, it happens! Right now I'm amazed I can remember much of anything, with the end of the semester rapidly approaching! She probably won't get taken apart for blushing until classes end, but hopefully the trend of mild winters will continue and I'll be able to get her done before the next semester starts up.

 

I really wanted to redo the girls hands but we got hit with such a hard snow these last two days! I definitely can't take them outside for snow day pics. Way too much snow and the wind is near to carrying me away! Not good weather for dollies. And not good for MSC either

 

Oh dear!! I wish I had those excuses XD ... I'm the teacher on that end, so I'll blame it on marking and report cards to be done

We've been watching all the snow you're getting in the area... you know it's bad when it makes the news in western Canada where getting 4 feet of snow in a day is nothing :P ...but 8 feet is massively worrying and I can't imagine the moisture!! Stay safe!!

 

ellipses, you remind me of one of my undergrad instructors, who always liked to say, "Teaching would be so much easier if it weren't for all these students!"

I'm crossing my fingers that the upcoming project in one class isn't too horrible, and I survive the other two I need to get done, with enough time to just worry about finals and getting dolls taken apart! Though Winry's still pretty without her face, I'd love to get her painted up and ready to really show off.

 

I promise! We're all stocked up on foods and water and blankets just in case. Only leaving the house if absolutely necessary.

 

I am in dire need of no more big male bodies right now, but they pretty much said CHRISTMAS EVENT so that's all I need to know.

HUGE EDIT: Wait a minute, ellipses, I just checked the date on that post (since that's not the blog that used to be linked on their store page) and it's from 2009!!

 

Haha!! When I was a student my lab instructors used to always say that I totally know how they feel now!! LOL

Aaaand all the snow melted xD Back to square one waiting for a LIGHT DUSTING so I can take pics of the girls in the snow... THANK YOU MICHIGAN

 

Out here we get a light dusting of sand and dust for Christmas. I haven't even taken my dolls outside, and I can't do faceups for 9 months out of the year given the heat and dust. I wish we could have snow!

And to stay on topic, I would have liked a new body for Christmas too, but I'll take a guaranteed Christmas event. I hate waiting for news of it because if it doesn't happen, I will be miffed.

 

Still no faceup or blushing (too busy and too cold!), but I took a little time yesterday to make Winry a nice new Christmas dress:

Thank you! I got it from a vendor at Anime north. I got Lydia's ( really Remy's ) ring from the same one. MSD rings! I'd given up on finding any and I couldn't pass it up.

Nice!! I've had more issues than not with doll rings (including a pair of broken hands), so I'm always leery

 

Yeah I'm positive I've scratched Remy's finger... But I haven't looked close enough to really tell just yet.

 

I dread that!! Better scratches though, than a broken finger I suppose XD

Hi there, thinking about getting a Snowdrop here, but I wanted to ask first -- how hard is it to find pants for this girl? It seems she has wider hips than a lot of MSD girls by a centimeter or two... Do most MSD clothes still fit? What about tighter pants, made from denim or something?

Hey Clara, the head will fit Doll-Love bodies and Angel of dream fairly well, though there is a bit of a restriction on left to right movement because the Spiritdoll neck is thinner... sadly I don't have any MNF available to try it out on, but I can check with friends if that's your interest.... is there a specific body type you're looking at??

As to the tan, I made a sort-of resin comparison some time back...

As for matching, I can tell you a quite a bit more caramelly than the red-brown of companies like Soom... the best match I've come across so far has actually been Luts Maybe some of tan owners can make a comparison??

I've had a few issues finding pants yes, so I tend to stick to the stretchier variety, though boy pants fit quite well... so far I've had the best luck with Dollmore for the slimmer girl look.

Oh she's lovely ludens!! I like her make up style and the back story really suits her... are you thinking of making her a sari??? I'm drooling just thinking of it!!

I wasn't too sure about he body at first, though after awhile I found it to be quite unique and unlike any other doll bodies that I would like to own in the future. So I have a feeling that when I hopefully get her sometime in the future I will do so with her original body. ^__^
Though It would still be interesting to see how she looks on a minifee body

ellipses, samson, thanks! I had a lot of fun working on her, blushing always shows me all the little details on a doll's body that I always overlook otherwise. It's also a nice way to get familiar with how the body's structured, too. (Plus, it gave me a chance to put her headplate back on, since it fell off not long after I got her.)

These girls are really nice, natural posers, too.

Funnily enough Sydney's headplate fell off soon after I got her too. They can't have been glued in very well I guess !
