My previous photosession had tragical end. Wind was blowing, Lynn was unstable and then she fell and smashed her face I was so upset. Face was OK, but face-up shattered. I decided to change her face-up. Now I'm pleased to introduce you new Lynn Spiritdoll Snowdrop
Tragedy!! I was getting her ready for this past weekends con to take her to the meet and I wasn't gentle enough when taking her old eyelashes off!! I'm so upset!! It took her eyeliner right off! And it's going to be a while before my free time and the weather sync up for me to fix her ):
the body of the pyrus is single jointed or double? also i have a questions i want to make custom order eyes for mine (12mm) but i dont know what seems more realistic and could fit well and doesnt look odd so i dont know to choose the high dome or with a low dome or should i make theme with the small iris?
omg she looks beautiful ! I'm sorry for the accident happened to her but you did a great job on her new faceup !! Don't mind me asking what eyes is she wearing? **
I never posted pics of my girl. After my chaotic long wait and they accidentally skipped my order (yikes) I've had her home a bit, but I still need to do a lot of work. I am going to send her out for a faceup because I don't like the faceup I got from the company. The blushing on the chin just makes it look odd and since she is my favorite sculpt of all time, I know how much potential is there. Her eyes still want to sit wonky in her head, but today we made progress! They still aren't perfect, but it's the first time I've looked at her and haven't completely hated it after I put the headcap back on. I love her to pieces and I'm so glad she is home. So please welcome Sivvy (Sylvia Barrington) to the group. Here is my album of pictures for your enjoyment. I can never get my pics to load properly on here so if anyone wants to re-link them here-feel free. Sivvy (Sylvia Barrington)-Spiritdoll-Snowdrop Fullset normal Skin
Thank you a lot She is wearing Glass Natural Flatback PW oval eyes from Kemper dolls (12 mm, green color). Live it looks much better than on promo photos.
Does anyone know about staining on the spiritdoll tan dolls and if it is just a sealant issue? Would a faceup artist be able to cover it?
It looks like it may be from sealant. It's only on the head. The seller says it's because the tan doesn't hold up over time. So there is discoloration and staining. But it's not on the body. Just the head. Seems like that would happen all over if that were the case. Maybe they tried to do a faceup and used something funky to take it off and it messed with resin? They claim on the sale page that it's just a product of the tan not holding up well over time though. So I was curious if anyone had trouble with spiritdoll tan and if that staining/discoloration is something that can be covered up.
I haven't had mine for very long and she's blank so I don't know anything about staining... PM me the link? I'm really curious to see this discoloration now. The oldest spiritdoll in tan that I've seen was only a year old. The one that I bought my hands from and they're perfectly the same color.
I've had my tan snowdrop for two years, and I'm pretty sure she looks just as she did when I got her. There's no staining on her at all.
Yeah I think that what I eventually gathered from the person was it may have had more to do with what they used to remove their previous faceups than the actual wear of the resin. Ultimately I decided to pass on the sale and keep looking.
Discoloration problems? I just got my Laurel in tan color, I asked for her without make-up, and she is perfect. Now that I made the makeup, the face looks a little clearer than the body, but that is normal, more layers of sealant are added, then more it lighten the surface. If everything is removed, it should return to the normal color.
I don't think I'd posted this picture in this thread yet, but here is my Pyrus, Remi [he has since gotten a new wig, but I haven't gotten any new pictures of it yet].
Yes, it not was easy to find a Laurel in tan color. I usually investigate a lot before buying a doll. But it was completely worth the effort and time, she is beautiful and she has a wonderful color. Your Pyrus is very beautiful too, I loved the color of his wig! Does he have Oscar Doll eyes? :O
He's so sweet. Love his eyes! Can you believe Christmas was almost a month ago? Time seems to fly, but memories and photos remain. Lynn (Spiritdoll Snowdrop)
Just sharing a picture of Remi in his new wig. I'm so picky when it comes to wigs for him! Hopefully this one will stick.
Have any of you tried to go to the spiritdoll website lately? It keeps taking me to some weird news website in another language and not the bjd site. I know they have had problems with their website before, but just curious if anyone else was having problems.
Something's definitely weird there, yeah... I'm getting a Michigan-based psychic when I try to go to the main page, and an obvious fake page (after translating, it's pretty much all keyword spam) trying to link through google search results to the "smart" page directly. Do they have an official representative here who could be alerted?
Glad I'm not crazy. I don't know if they have a rep on DOA, but that does make me nervous if they have my personal info stored on their site and it has been hacked or something. Wonder how we can get a hold of them. I don't currently have anything on order with them, I was just going to browse, but very weird.
It turns out I had emailed them a while back, so I sent out an email just now. Hopefully it's nothing serious!
I used to have a Snowdrop but sold her, and am in a state of regretting it... could I please get some photos of your spiritdoll MSDs with some msds from other companies? Curious how a re-purchase might fit in with my current crew.
The only other doll sculpt I currently have is DC Bella, and I'm getting a DC Douglas in the mail next week. Idk if that would help.
@astromayhem Here is a picture of my Pyrus next to my DC Bella. He's a bit taller than her, but nothing crazy. He's also much thicker than she is.
And here is a closer picture @astromayhem She has a bit more mature face than he does, but the character she represents is supposed to be half-Asian so i wanted her to have smaller eyes.
Aah they're so cute. I've never seen a tan Bella before, she's lovely. Thankyou this helps a lot! They don't look badly proportioned to each other, which is what I was afraid of.
Most of my collection is, unfortunately, still in storage right now, but I do have my Snowdrop out currently... I also have out one (old-style) AoD girl, one BBB/Impl hybrid, two MNFs (A-Line boy, M-Line girl), and a WithDoll boy, if you'd like me to snap a photo or two of her with any of those.
@astromayhem thanks for the compliment! I hope you don't mind the poor picture quality, I was just snapping some really quick for comparison's sake.
I'm always game to see more! One of the main things I remember from having her is that she towered over the kid delf I had at the time. And her shoulders/hips were much wider... Though @somewheresunbear has now reassured me that with super-slim minis they look okay! A question to everyone in the thread - what made you choose spiritdoll as a company to buy from? For me, it was my first ever bjd purchase. I had been hunting for one I liked enough to buy for a while, and came across the Snowdrop's stock photos on google images. Had never heard of them before that, even though I already had an account here.
@astromayhem I came across a Laurel on Tumblr and fell in love with the Pyrus sculpt. That sculpt was also my first ever BJD. I bought him after knowing about BJDs for only three days lol.
The snowdrop sculpt was my first BJD ! After years of lurking and looking for the right kind of doll, the snowdrop sculpt stole my heart and despite her hugeeee elbow and knee joints, I love her that much to ignore them XD
Hey there! This might seem like a long shot, but can anyone tell me if Spiritdoll's Normal Skin would be a good match for Art Bimong's (Narin/Narae) Normal Skin? I haven't been able to find much about it, and I'm really new to resin matching.
So my Snowdrop turned up today and the face-up is Aside from the issues of uneven blushing (one side darker than the other), dirt in the sealant, paint spattered on the ear, there's a very noticeable chip in the chin- Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't want to have to wipe the whole face-up as I know I don't have the skill level to repaint it. I'm not happy as these issues were immediately apparent the second I unwrapped the head so they must have known about them and still shipped it out like that Edit- turned out the paint was on top of the sealant so was able to scrape it off so that's one less issue ^^
I'll compare them in a few days. Epicari, It can be difficult to fix part of a faceup. Did you get her from Spiritdoll?
Yes, I bought directly from the company. There was no way I could have damaged it as the face was wrapped with thin foam between the plastic face guard so couldn't have caught it with that. When i very carefully unwrapped the foam my fingers didn't touch the face-up, there was no postal damage and I didn't use any tools to cut the packaging etc. Also this is what the paint on the ear looked like- so even if the face-up was accidentally damaged when they were packing her up so they didn't know, I can't see how they could have missed the paint as well. Unfortunately the website isn't working for me so don't know how to contact them about it, plus I really hate having to send a complaint message (darn social anxiety and dyslexia block on writing formal stuff, you do not help D.
Yes, the site is down at the moment. I would email them at [email protected] Send a picture and just ask how the chin scratch can be fixed.
Does anyone have any tips for floppy ankles? (Aside from boots.) I adore my Liana, but trying to get her to stand is like far more difficult compared to my DC-bodied girl. (Which is crazy, because DC's are so much thinner!) The rest of her joints are fine, but I swear, it's almost as if her ankles are made out of bendy straws. Would hot glue sueding help? Or anything else? I'd greatly appreciate any input!
Could someone do a comparison of Smart boy with other dolls (any)? 48 cm sound really big to me! Do the boy body fit regular clothes?
If you scroll back a bit, you'll see my Pyrus with a DC Bella. It's a bit hard to shop for him, but I've been able to find some things. I don't have any of the really little dolls like minifees so I'm not sure how it would compare.
Thank you so much! They actually look really good together in terms of height difference. Could you suggest a shop to find pants for him please? If you ever bought them.
StarrshineDesigns on Etsy pants fit okay. They're very tight and a little short, but look alright with boots. That's the best I've been able to find so far.
Tonner 19 inch male pants might work. There are patterns and some clothes on ebay. The 19 in dolls are Peter from the Narnia series and Mortimer. I'll measure the length.
How is the service of Spiritdoll? I've seen many complaints (though most were years back) about the long waits, lack of customer communication and flawed dolls......I would really love to order 'Catnip' from the Healing line of Spirit Doll but all the negatives have me scared off at the moment.... Weigh ins?
