    1. @Tureluur - you are welcome.
If you check out Anna's Instagram page she has a video of Gloriana in Java resin...showing off her amazing posing abilities...WOW!

      • x 1
    2. I have watched the video a few times now...:drool:cool:

Just putting this out there for whom it my concern...wasn't sure about the next layaway payment, so asked Anna. She said to try and keep to the 30 days between payments, earlier is fine, but to let her know if there is going to be a delay.

      • x 1
    3. Just saw the video. WOW. I liked these gals when I saw then and figured they posed well but so nice to see it. Can't wait to see to see them when the arrive for all those that got them.

    4. @calliope13 - yeah it's great to actually see her being handled and posed...makes a big difference. I'm pretty sure Elf gals will be shared here in the future:wiggle

    5. Any one getting stuff together for their Elf girls? It can be tricky not having her in hand to get sizes right, but wondered if folk had started working on hair, clothes, shoes...
Personally, have put some old Tonner doll clothing aside to try. Some slim MSD items that might just work...been checking out Popovy sized footwear and currently wondering about hair options.

I have one last layaway payment mid month, but haven't seen any updates on casting.

    6. I like the elf girls, and hope an elf boy is offered someday. I can not wait to see owner photos and enjoy the elf girls through others ^_^

Oh an odd side note to what they could wear the She's a Dragon dolls can wear some Barbie stuff.

    7. @Tippetarius oh yeah a boy Elf!!! It had not even crossed my mind, but yes, that would be fantastic!:love

Hmmm...just trying to judge from the Elf girl's measurements, don't think Barbie size will work. She's closer to Minifee, a bit smaller.
I have a Tonner Cami body and that's looking near size wise. Gonna have to wait and see.

      Oh but and Elf boy......:drool

    8. Elcatka on Instagram shows a lot of photos of her java coloured elf, including a face up. I love looking at her photos, and I also ordered java. What colours did you all choose?

    9. Thanks for letting us know about Elcatka @Tureluur ...oh wow, her Elf is stunning and can't wait to see her finished:love Pretty sure Elcatka's girl is an Enya. I'm learning how to sneak around Instagram:wiggle
The Java colour is wonderfully dark, but warm, so you must be excited.
My girl/s will be in Toffee.

      • x 1
    10. Wow, I am looking forward to seeing your toffee colored girl! I think Elcatka's Enya too, I chose Gloriana.

    11. @Tureluur - thank you - ah, yes it was you who ordered Glorinana in Java...:thumbup

      • x 1
    12. I also ordered a Gloriana in Java as well as a Letizia in toffee! So far I have eyes for them that I commissioned but not much else, I'm going to try and make their wigs and sew clothes for them myself. As far as buying clothes for them, I think minifee might work. I have a 40cm Eslyndolls Mary and minifee clothes fit her perfectly, I think the elf girls will be a tad bit smaller though.

      • x 1
    13. @Abbinormal - well, great choices too:thumbup
I have been looking at eyes on Etsy...but wondering if I should wait for my Elf too arrive. Definitely want some hair for her, so will probably get an item that's ready made and like you have a go at making a wig later.
Minifee Moe seems even closer in size...right?

      ( checked out Eslyndolls Mary...stunning! )

      • x 2
    14. @Abbinormal, two elves :thumbup that is something to look forward to!

I am also thinking about wigs, no idea yet though.

      • x 1
    15. @Tureluur - wigs - do you perhaps have a vague idea of what you're after?
I've decided to concentrate on Enya first and the Letizia heads can wait. One of my all time favourite films is The Dark Crystal (1982) - IMDb and I currently feel ( but it may yet change ) that my Enya heads will be influenced by, very loosely, something along the Gelfing character of Kira. Hair wise, white, pale blond with a mix of braids, dreads and loose hair. Undecided on a fringe ( Ye Olde English )...er, ah...bangs or a middle part.
*wanders off to look at more pretty pictures*

    16. Btw tz_doll_clothes on Instagram has pictures of their Letizia up with full make-up, hair and clothes and she looks absolutely gorgeous! It's awesome seeing one of these ladies all done up! :love

    17. @StrontiumDog, I like your ideas! As for a wig, I think it also depends on the face up you choose and the 'type' you want your doll to be. For me this is the hardest part because I don't do stories so I have not a clue which way to go yet. I must add that I am not an experienced bjd collector...

@Abbinormal, I just saw it! Thanks for mentioning it here. Isn't she beautiful all dressed up :love

      • x 1
    18. @Abbinormal - oh boy, thanks for the heads up on the Letizia. Well she is certainly a very modern elf gal. especially like the way her ear peaks through her hair in what could other wise be a modern fashion mag shoot. Her dark lips are stunning. Guess she is in the Petal colour resin...hmmm or maybe the maybe Sand resin?
For me personally, love seeing one of these beauties outside. I know mine will get lots of outdoor time, as I truly enjoy taking pictures of my BJDs outdoors, mixing with nature.

@Tureluur - yeah...face up has to come into the over all look. Understand what you mean about not doing stories...so you're not pinned down to any character or look. I usually find that seeing the colour of the resin for really, in your hands, makes a big difference and things start from there.

    19. Heads up! Think I have read it correctly...looks like a new dragon head and some adjustments to the arms and hands. Possibly an end of September pre-order for them too!!!

    20. Oooh that new head makes a 2nd dragon temping.

    21. Yeah, the new head looks awesome! My doll budget is well and truly blown for this year, but I'm hoping perhaps next year of the year after she'll have another preorder for these lovely dragon ladies.

    22. @Tippetarius - isn't it just! That green fade colouring too...:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup
@Quiet and Insane - same boat here. Am supposed to be getting an Iple SID...hmmmmm, but a dragon is so tempting cos she would be the perfect companion to be Elf gal....*can't decide*

    23. Heh, my budget was blown on an EID, so I'm not far off you there.

    24. hehehe...all aboard the good ship "Iple-has-me-hooked!"

My main difficulty is that with the uncertainty over re-lock down/re-tightening of restrictions, I don't know where I will be job wise come the end of October and simply cannot justify another BJD. I have saved some funds, but at the end of the day that is money I may need for important things. *wanders of to ponder*

    25. I can understand that. Prior to the current lock down in my city, I had manged to sell quite a few things secondhand, and just had the money sitting there. So I thought hey, money from sold hobby stuff = money for new hobby stuff.

    26. News from Spirit-Imprint's pre-order pages, quote:
      "She is a Dragon Pre-order

      Early October 2020

Currently in development one new head, resin colors and pricing.
My caster reported an increase in the price of casting, especially a significant increase in the price of transparent colors, be prepared for this.

The number of dolls in pre-order will be limited."
      :aeyepop:

    27. Well my doll budget for the year has been well and truly spent (went a little over, whoops). Hopefully next year!
I'm keen to see the new colours on offer though! I love seeing everyone else's photos, so I'm happy to live vicariously through everyone else for a while.

    28. @Quiet and Insane - sometimes it's just best to let your budget recharge. Yeah, looking forward to seeing the new colours and head too. Decided not to go with an Iple order this time round, so maybe, just maybe, can swing it for a Dragon.

    29. I'm more than happy to sit back and enjoy other people's dolls for a while anyway. :)

    30. @Quiet and Insane - looks like you'll have some beauties to enjoy as the pre-order for the dragons starts in a couple of days time!
Waiting to see the colour options...:aeyepop:

    31. I’m glad we will be able to order parts! It isn’t that I had a major problem with the arms, but the new ones are better! :D

    32. Ooh, congrats to those planning on ordering the dragons! I won't have any funds for new dolls for the next few years unfortunately XD

About the elf girls, I have to ask, how do you guys prepare/buy clothes and wigs for dolls that haven't arrived yet? and in their first release? Do you wait until you receive the doll or buy things based on measurement? I wish I have at least something for my girl to wear when she arrive!

And Instagram is really dangerous! I saw that gorgeous picture of Enya in Java and right now I wished I ordered her in Java instead!

    33. Ooh yes I'm keen to see colour options as well!

    34. @robin raihana - doll budgets for so many of us are flaky to say the least but, enjoy what you already own...and have fun dreaming about future plans.
Personally, as far as kitting out the new gal is concerned, I have done a little based on measurements, regarding clothing. Wig I am not so sure about, because I can't quite nail the look in my minds eye, so might wait until she is in hand to make a call on colour, style and such. Shoes...thinking that Minifee Moe might work...possibly Popovy footwear, especially flat styles. Leaning more and more toward waiting to physically have her and see what she tells me about who she is and how she will look.

You have given me a very good reason NOT to be on Instagram!
Seriously, Enya looks great in Java, but I don't think you will be worried once you see her in Toffee.

@Quiet and Insane - colour options for the dragons are up...pre-order page 3...:aeyepop::aeyepop::aeyepop::drool
Straight away went for green...Oh but the 2 reds are tempting...grey would be cool....transparent emerald!!!!....can't choose!

    35. oh I saw the colours! I really love that rose red too, and the sky blue and ash is pretty as well! I agree, it will be tough for people trying to choose!

Edit: I should've looked at popovy and other fashion bjd this size.. they might fit better than the 1/4 msd hmm.. the wig at least

    36. Well I have been back and forth for 5 hours and can't decide which colour I like best:lol:

Yeah, that's what I figure. If I go down the route of hardcap wigs though, will wait until I can try making or someone else can be commisioned.

    37. Oh woooooow! Those colour options! :aeyepop: One of each please!

    38. I’ve been enjoying the Elf girl owner pictures on Instagram. It makes me even more excited for mine :)

I’m hoping to pre-order a dragon. I really like the sky blue color. I think it’ll look good with the milk chocolate of my Elf girl.

    39. @Inspired - I'm not signed up to Instagram, so I can't find my way around, BUT, I save saved a pictured from somewhere of chocolate Letizia in amongst a group of pale blue dragons...*checks pics*...ah yeah, looks like it's a screen shot save, so it is almost certainly from Anna's Insta. So will will be able to find it for a good look.

    40. @StrontiumDog Yes, I loved that picture on Anna’s Instagram account :) I also like the curled looking, style F horns as they look more feminine to me.

Editing rather than adding another post: I was able to pre-order a Dragoness. I’m so excited! :) I’m hoping there will be more dragons ordered so we can see them here :)

    41. Elf girls casting is supposed to done the end of October so we’re getting closer to when they’ll be shipped out to us :)

I had some ideas about characters for my girls, but now it’s changing - I’ll have to wait and see about clothes and everything once they’re here. I’m also not sure if I’ll have to make something for them or if I’ll be able to buy something already made for them.

      • x 1
    42. Good point about shipping, fingers crossed:thumbup...although I am always a little cautious about timings.

Hmmmm...yeah, kinda the same here with regard to kitting my girl out.

Being very realistic, in the current situation and uncertainty with work, am going to have to be very careful and give a lot of consideration to what I can afford. Looking a bit doubtful for a Dragon right now:atremblin

    43. If it’s any consolation @StrontiumDog , I had to back out myself. The price for the arm parts hadn’t been on the website so I signed up. However, once I found out the price I had to back out and request my slot be given to somebody else. It’s just not a good time for me!

    44. @StrontiumDog The timing may not be right this year for a dragon, but maybe next pre-order timing will be better. Hopefully everything gets back to normal soon. I’m looking forward to seeing your Elf girl once she’s home :)

@nattherat Hopefully next preorder timing will be better. I’ve been looking for more owner pictures of the dragons. Do you know where the best place to look would be?

    45. @Inspired Thanks! However I am actually going to mod my own arms instead. I have already extensively modified my dragon, so why not change the engineering itself?

have you tried the Instagram tag? That’s where I post mine, and there are a good few on there. I haven’t tagged mine more recently though because I completely remade the face and it seemed a bit weird to tag it when the original head sculpt doesn’t remain any more. I’m not sure about that still haha. Anyway, there are a bunch on Instagram!

    46. @nattherat Thank you very much for the Instagram link. I’m following now :)

It’s interesting to see how everyone makes these dolls their own. It’s one of the things I love about the hobby :)

    47. @nattherat - sorry to hear the new arms aren't a possibility for you, but really hope your modifications go well.
@Inspired - thank you...and likewise. All the variations with the different sculpts and colours is indeed one of the great things about this hobby.
Is there some kind of Elf head mannequin on Anna's Instagram? I have been reading up/watching how-to videos on hard cap wigs and something like that head base would be fantastic.

    48. @StrontiumDog It looks like Anna is working on a wig manikin from what she’s posted on Instagram. She didn’t like the material she used and will be trying something else.

    49. Ah...thanks for the info @Inspired. Hope she can make it work...would be so useful.

    50. Just wanted to drop in and say I went ahead with modding my She Is A Dragon since the updated arms were out of my budget!

I've made her a brand new double-joint instead, which also extends the arm length and gives nice proportions. Chopping up the existing arm pieces was pretty scary since it's not as though I'd be able to get any replacements, let alone in this older colour! Here's the prototype for fit and mobility:
She can now reach anywhere pretty much, and I love what it does for her expressive-ness. Sorry the photo is a little blown out. I will be cleaning up the design a bit before printing it in resin - it will remain generally "knobbly" though, if anybody is wondering. I like articulation above all, and the top sphere works excellently as a mobility joint. I actually might make new hands for her too! After all, it sort of feels like I may as well go all in at this stage!

      • x 5
    51. Wow! @nattherat . That is awesome! She looks very happy with the modifications :)

    52. Wow, she looks super cool!! :D

    53. Thanks both! :) I have updated the design with some locks that mirror the locks at the ankles so she can easily keep her arm extended or from twisting until it is time to do so. I’ll prototype hands next but I am waiting until I have multiple parts in need of printing before going into resin (not that I am far off; this is the fourth doll I have made entirely new parts for, and all four need their parts printing). I keep thinking I might make a modding megathread over in the project forum, it would probably be a better place to post my She Is A Dragon, as she’s deviating a fair bit from the original sculpt.

    54. @nattherat I love that new face!

I wonder if it's possible to just use that 3d printed parts in PLA(?) in the picture without casting or printing them in resin? They look good already! And would they affect the movement or scratch the resin parts if we simply use the 3d parts? I've never had 3d print so I am curious

    55. @robin raihana Thank you! :D I feel since we are talking 3D printed stuff, I should quickly emphasise that the face is epoxy sculpted.

As for prints; It is possible yes! I have been using PLA parts for a few years. PLA is perfectly fine. If you print at a high enough resolution, it is very smooth, so I have never had it scratch. You could even sand it to make extra sure.

I am switching to resin because my parts for all these dolls need to be dyed, and PLA and resin take dye very very differently. To ensure I get a better colour match, resin is best for me.

    56. That's great to hear that we can use the 3d printed parts directly! and yeah I just assumed the face was also 3d printed XD

Also if you do end up posting a modding megathread please let us know :3nodding:

    57. I’m finally getting my own! I was wondering though, do people usually leave them blank? I haven’t seen many pictures of them with faceup and body blushing. If you have blushed yours, I would love to see it.
