Spirit Imprint - CrowBlackJay - Tinies

Aug 13, 2017

    1. Hello!
I invite all owners and interested people in the topic to discuss "She is a Dragon" anthro doll.
And the rest of the future tiny dolls that will be on topic here.

I will be happy to see how the dragons settled in their homes and will gladly answer questions.

    2. I am loving seeing owner's posts of their new dragons! thanks for the links. I can't wait to see more and hear about how people like their dragons.

    3. Here are some photos of my girl! Her name is Ysolda, and she is a kobold to my Soom Arkose. I haven't actually taken any photos of them together yet. I haven't even had them in the same room yet, lol. Shame on me.

I will say that I did her sueding myself, and it is something that is definitely needed, as her resin is incredible quality and super smooth. It wasn't hard to do and I didn't even have to take her apart to do it.

      She is a Dragon

    4. Holy **** I'm sold. I was going back and forth on ordering because it's a big decision but these are some of the posing photos I needed to see! Thank you for sharing!

    5. Yey a dragon thread! I can't wait to get my girl, I'm going to name her Tia, it's one of my many nicknames I have collected over the years.

    6. :D A dragon thread! :dance:dance

I have not thought of a name for my dragon yet, It'll come to me. :D

    7. Yay dragon thread!

I've been sooooo excited for this preorder! I still have no idea what to name mine though... I got one in white, I'm hoping to do a bit of subtle iridescent/mother of pearl blushing... maybe some gold accents <3

I'm so excited to see what other people do with their dragons! :D

    8. @mokarran I got a white one too! Her temporary name is Kestrel. I don't have any plans for her because I have a feeling she is going to tell me exactly what's what when she gets here.

    9. I'm so glad this was helpful to you! You won't regret getting her, I promise! As for the posing, it's incredible, but you really do need to do the sueding. You can choose to have it done for you (I don't think it's that expensive), or do it yourself. I didn't mind doing it myself as I own a lot of fantasy dolls and am use to taking them apart for just changing clothes. Plus I love working on my dolls myself, helps me to bond with them better. But for this one, I didn't actually have to take her apart. I used the band aid tape you can find at most places. Got mine from WalMart. CrowBlackJay was lovely enough to send my a PSD of the template she used to do the sueding, so I just printed it out and traced and cut out all the pieces. Then by just pulling joints apart, I was able to apply all of the sueding pieces without taking her apart. I had never used this stuff before and it is amazing. I have tons left over, so I'll probably be using it on other dolls.

    10. I really love these photos and how the sueding came out! Thank you for sharing them! :D

    11. No problem! I was happy to share them. I love this girl so much. She's come to work with me so many times, lol.

    12. I ordered her with the sueding! My job means I have very little time to spend with my dolls, so I feel like if sueding was left up to me, it would never get done. I'm very glad it was an option! (Unfortunately I don't know the kind of tape you mean, and being in the UK, I don't have access to Walmart. That sounds pretty cool though! I ordinarily use hot glue, but obviously it's better to take the doll apart for that.)

I'm excited, she's so beautiful, and she's going to fit right in with some of my crew!

    13. >.> Apparently i've been doing hot glue sueding wrong then? xD I've always done it with my dolls together, Always works wonderfully that way for me. :3

      Though, back to the topic!

That ash grey was a very lovely color! :O I can't waittt~ Im so excited!
      :dance

    14. Haha, I wasn't implying that it was wrong! Just that there's less room for error and more room for precision if you take the doll apart first. Especially on tinies, I wouldn't like to try and get the nozzle of my hot glue gun in some of their joints, it'd backfire (especially on my Iplehouse Cat for example, though at least hot glue is so easily removeable!).

    15. I'd been holding off posting pictures here until I knew she was approved but I can say I am over the moon for my girl :). I named her Bhavini and she travels around the house with me just about everywhere. When she's not exploring she lives on my bookshelf and hoards things as dragons do. Some of my favorite pictures of her are as follows:

      Starting a hoard

      Guarding treasure

      Basking

      Smell the flowers

She's incredibly expressive and a joy to photograph! Congrats to the people getting their first dragons!

    16. Depending on what doll I'm hot glue sueding depends on if I take them apart or not, lol. I typically don't have to. And Psycofox, the blue resin is lovely! I was so tempted to get mine in blue because it looked so good, but it didn't fit for her character. It was between white or grey. Her character digs and tunnels, and the dragon she is in service too is a bone dragon, so it was between grey and white for me. Although that purple is so tempting because my bone dragon is actually a Soom Arkose and in the light violet color!

    17. @Psycofox thank you for the pics. Owner pics seem a little scarce for this lovely sculpt. I plan on taking a ton of photos when mine arrives, and can't wait to see everyone else's!

    18. Dear lord this doll is the grail of all grails for me <3 if I hadn't just started college I would be jumping at the optotunity to buy her....instead I am left sitting here screaming with envy Someday she will be mine.

    19. Following. I need a blue one. But I'll have one or more, someday!

    20. @CrowBlackJay Apologies if this is the wrong place or if I missed if you said it, but I looked around for an answer and I've been having trouble finding it- will you be doing She is a Dragon again? Obviously no time soon, since second preorder hasn't even shipped out yet, I just know I'm absolutely in love with her, omg. :D

EDIT: I'm a dummy, naturally the second I post is when I read that apparently more are planned. Just a teeny bit embarrassed there.

    21. @Schtauffen Don't worry, there will be more pre-orders.
I was planning for the end of December, but since the processing of the parts in casting company will take longer than expected, the shipping will be postponed. So the next pre-order will start only after the shipment of this one.

    22. Looking forward to seeing what the next preorder colors will be. I’m sure they will all be beautiful! But I’m so happy I got a purple girl this round.

    23. I'm hoping for white again. After seeing the pictures of all the lovely horn heads, I very much regret not ordering all available heads. Hopefully I can do that in the next preorder. I also hope that once the lovely ladies are home, the next preorder period is still open*. I was debating on ordering two last time but thought I should wait and see what they look and feel like. I kind of suspect I will want another though and have already started selling in preparation to raise dolly funds.

*Edit: to clarify, I know CrowBlackJay said next preorder would open after current preorder ships, but the Russian post is taking an incredibly long time for deliveries to USA right now. Some of my friends have packages in transit (lost) for 2 or 3 months. I would hate for the next preorder to close before the first doll arrives. But if it does, I'll just roll with it. :dance I'm lucky to have even one on the way!

    24. Ooh I hadn't heard that about the post. I sincerely hope that is not the case with the dragons! Ughh that would be awful for Crowblackjay too, I imagine by the month mark people would be asking for refunds. :( Glad you mentioned it though so I will try to steel myself to expect several more months.

I wonder how long shipping will take into Russia from Haru?

I know what you mean about wanting the first one in hand for sure. I would probably break down and order a second one before receiving the first too, if pressed. I wouldn't trust ever being able to find one on the secondhand market when the runs are so small (22-ish this round?).

    25. I'm really looking forward to this thread getting an influx of dragons from this preorder. :D

Still eagerly waiting for my shipping notice haha.

    26. I saw the post on current threads about the order period and thought the dates must be wrong, but then I came here to fine the third one has not been announced yet. This is a good thing for me because I have too many expenses at the moment. I just love how expressive she is.

    27. Well, I just got my first dragon today and I can safely say I'm in trouble for the next preorder. I can't believe the movement on this girl. I just got her out of the box and already she's like my best friend and my most inspiring muse. I cannot recommend this doll enough to anyone who might be interested.

    28. Incredible! :D

    29. Absolutely stunning! :love

    30. My girl came in today as well. <3

    31. Mine is still stuck in her travels, but hopefully she'll come home soon.

    32. @Kataxenna that blue is a great shade. I love Kestrel in her white, but now I'm super conscientious about keeping her covered to slow the yellowing process. I better make sure to take plenty of photos while she's still young!

@Tippetarius I'm sure she'll be here soon, hopefully today!

    33. I ended up naming her Baritra after a dragon lord in the mmorpg Aion. XD. I deffinately want another dragon. Maybe Purple next~

    34. I'm kicking myself for not discovering these dolls sooner. I saw them on Flickr a few days back and they're such a nice balance of graceful and dragon.
@CrowBlackJay You've inspired me to try making a dragon BJD, and also save up for this beautiful baby.

    35. I realised I haven't shared a picture of mine! Which is mostly because it's a hassle to share from instagram.

She arrived on April 24th, and I'm delighted to find that both quadrupedal and theropod-like poses are possible, without assistance from wires or stands! Here's my favourite one that mine can pull (she's called Silara). To keep in with the one-picture rule, you can find more on my instagram (on my profile/signature). Such an incredible doll!

    36. I love the dragon and will be trying to keep an eye out for a future release. So pretty!

    37. Thank you! I'm glad to inspire someone!

    38. [IMG]
I got mine from the post! She is gorgeous and I'm looking forward to making her some clothes! I likely won't do much in the way of body blushing (as I fear chipping too much), but may paint her nails, some detail on the horns and possibly around the eyes. I feel like the gray resin doesn't need much detail or refinement, as lights bring out the sculpted detail quite well.

I'll try to post more (and better) images as I get them, and would love to see what others do with theirs :)

    39. I have found some Barbie tops fit these girls really nice.

    40. Oh she's really cute @ronnie92! :D I'd love to buy one of these lovely ladies one day. She'd make a great sister to some of my other dragon bjds.

    41. Just giving this thread a gentle bump...
The recent preorder for She Is A Dragon, caught my interest, well, re-started it and I am giving the dragon some serious consideration.
Whilst doing some digging and checking the dragon out, came across CrowBlackJay's Elf....see her here: Elf...and I want to know more!!
Anyone else looking at her with interest?

    42. That is a gorgeous doll!

    43. The elf looks gorgeous, as well! Thankfully my wallet is saved in this case, as they're both too tall and too short to fit into either of the size scales I have going on in my collection at the moment. Apparently she'll be 38cm tall! (source)

    44. I've got one pre-ordered and I couldn't be more excited!! She's somewhat of a birthday/christmas gift to myself.

    45. Ooh lucky! I have one of these lovely little ladies on my wishlist. One day they'll be a pre-order when I have the money.

    46. @tithorargentus - congratulations...
Do you mean you have ordered a dragon?

    47. Yep! One of the matte blue ones.

    48. Congratulations! Which head/heads did you go for? Please post pics as and when your Dragon arrives!

    49. ARGH!!!
I am not on Instagram, but am watching the progress of the Elf girl...*sigh*
Had no idea there would be a choice of heads...and hands!

    50. Yes! I hope to see a lot of them around, even though they aren't the right scale for my crew. The sculpting looks gorgeous. The detail on the lips especially!

    51. I went for the g-horned open plate for my default and the g-horn closed eye for my secondary. I had a lot of other doll things going on and could only afford one extra. :( I'd like to get a second dragon in a different colour one day though.

    52. @ronnie92 - yes, they all look very detailed and wonderfully sculpted.

@tithorargentus - great choices! Now what you mean when it comes to what you can realistically afford though. Hope you'll get another one in the future.

I am tempted to join instagram, just to keep a closer eye on what's going on with the elf...I joined Facebook only to keep up to date with 5th Motif!!! ( but did later close that down)

    53. Is “she is a dragon” limited? Sorry if this is a silly question or has already been asked. I’m new to Bjd and am waiting on my first doll, which will come in an agonizingly long 6-9 months. I’d love for this to be my second doll but want to wait until I’ve gotten my first before I get a second

    54. Congratulations on your new doll! I hope you'll love them a lot and that they'll arrive to you safely.

To my knowledge she is not "limited" in the sense of the amounts of dolls, but the artist only takes orders in smaller amounts at a time, so they aren't available all the time. And as it is always with artists, there is no guarantee of them releasing the same doll again and again. So far it seems like they are more limited on the color side of things, as each order period seems to have a different set of colors available.

If your heart is set on a specific color, I would recommend ordering it if you see it available, as there is no guarantee of that color appearing again. You can see the colors included in the previous releases in crowblackjay's flickr account.

    55. Thank you for the info, that’s good to know I hope I have an opportunity to buy this doll, she’s beautiful.

    56. Looking like progress is coming along for the Elf!
Haven't joined Instagram, but able to catch the update about casting.
Certainly looks like 5 pairs of hands and 3 sets of feet...so cool!

    57. And Dragons are casting!! I'm so excited.

    58. She does look really pretty doesn't she? I'm excited to see more. :)
