Eyes SOULinaBOXdolls Urethanes

Aug 14, 2017

    1. That's a big boo-hoo @Mandagore. :o I have eyes from this maker that are older than what you have, and are still fine despite being used by a succession of dolls (and I live in a tropical climate). Thank you for the heads' up regarding the erratic quality, though! I should consider myself lucky I haven't had a bad pair so far, but communication issues is what's putting me off from any future purchases. I have two pairs I've yet to get a shipping notice for. Delays due to COVID-19 is understandable, but posting no general announcement of the schedule being backed up (you'd have to ask the seller yourself for any updates) isn't making me a happy camper, either.

    2. Unfortunately I found in one of my pairs less than a year old had one of the eyes turn mostly yellow.

    3. I also have an order from February that has not shipped yet. I reached out to her on Etsy but haven't heard back. I'm on the lookout for other eye options now as I don't think I will be placing another order again any time soon.

    4. Shipping times of over 30 days are unfortunately common with her :/ My last order took one and a half months, and that was before Covid.

    5. @AntarelNefertili , sorry to hear about the communication/ shipping delay problems as well. It's one thing to be delayed, although if that has been common before the covid situation, with a bit of organisational sense, such could be avoided as well. But it's another thing entirely to have bad communication...

That irregularity is irritating, isn't it? We have 7 pairs of eyes from the same order in the house, and hardly two eyes have yellowed alike. They vary from slight, even mellowing to liver disease yellow stains even within one pair of eyes. I wonder if she has mixed and matched her resin ingredients differently all the time. Sad thing too, because she makes beautiful eyes.

    6. The artist told me the high humidity where they live has been destroying whole batches of eyes.

    7. Yes, but humidity usually interferes with the curing of resin after it is mixed and poured into molds, not really with the yellowing of the finished resin.

    8. That was in reference to why orders are taking so long.

    9. @xyuemoto , my bad!^^ It could also explain why eyes belonging to the same order seem to come from different resin batches, if she has to re-make them frequently.

    10. I just bought my first pair of eyes from Soulinabox and would love to see any Wild Orchid owner pictures!

    11. Fixed the picture, and I'd also like to mention that the Soulinabox eyes bought in the end of 2017 (including the Liberte eyes pictured here) all became very unevenly yellow since. I can not put them in the doll due to this, also I can't sell them, so I just have to trash them, I think.

However, in my last order from october 2018, I was lucky I guess, and those particular eyes still look quite decent in 2020 - one pair haven't visibly yellowed, and the other pair yellowed mildly. That last order were the eyes with a smaller, more realistic iris size. All in all, Soulinabox makes beautiful eyes in convenient sizes, but order at your own risk due to the fast yellowing problem which may happen.

    12. Is the yellowing of the eyes still a problem? I have some older eyes that are fine, but a few from a couple years ago that definitely yellowed. I was hoping to get a few pairs, but I am hesitating.

    13. I have eyes from June and August 2019 and I don't see any color change in them.

    14. Does anyone have references for the shade Purple Rain? I am thinking about a 14mm small iris order of them

    15. Welp I don't think that's happening because they permanently closed up shop. :...(

    16. Did they actually announce that? I was planning on buying eyes from them…

    17. I just saw the etsy shop closed and I messaged to ask what happened and they simply said they moved on. So I think at least for now, they're closed for real

    19. Mostly for reference since it seems they're closing up shop, but my eyes from mid-2018 have also aged terribly despite being kept in their box as well, as they didn't work for the doll I wanted.

    20. I bought this Soul in a Box pair in mid 2023, 14/6mm, green with an orange ring around the pupil (central heterochromia). It was in-stock on their Etsy store, I think it was a one-off pair and not part of their made-to-order menu.

I've had them in this doll since I bought it, will find out whether it yellows over time. So far, no yellowing I can see.

Kind of sad that Soul in a Box has closed up shop, these are very well-made eyes. The pupil is set very recessed in the iris and has a strong follow-you effect (the doll always seems to be glancing at you no matter the viewing angle), which I like a lot. They also catch the light well -- good for this boy, who has narrow deep-set eyes.

    21. I think they do still sell eyes, just not through their etsy shop but via DM on Instagram.

    22. Correct I forgot to post that I messaged her directly and asked her if she would accept made to order eyes and she said she would announce when that would happen
