SOULDOLL Zenith Chiron Discussion - 70cm Centaur & Human versions

Hmmm... $900 doesn't seem so bad for such a large doll with all the extra resin parts. People have paid far more for human 60cm dolls... It is a chunk of change, no question, but BJDs are expensive!

 

Eto anyone know the weight of the human version of Chiron? Thanks... I am comparing weight of Chiron and luts ssdf....

I've been drooling over the Human Chiron for quite sometime now, and I think I've finally decided to purchase him in the future. I just had a few questions about the ordering options and caretaking.

Souldoll has the option of getting a Human Chiron body with the Centuar head. Does that mean that Chiron will have the pointy ears? I really love the ears on the Centuar head, and I wasn't sure if they would be included if I ordered "Centuar head" option.

Also, I have never owned a doll with grey skin. I was thinking of having a grey Chiron, but I don't know how to take care of it. If anyone has had experience with grey skined dolls, I would deeply appreciate any information you can give me.

Yes the ears are part of the head, I'm pretty sure even if they're detachable that the Centaur head would come with the Centaur ears.

There's really nothing that different about caring for a grey skinned doll compared to any other colour resin, just remember that the seams will not be sanded, and it could be risky to do yourself because the grey underneath the top layer is likely to be slightly different. People who sand grey dolls generally have to sand the whole thing just a little to ensure the same colour, which most likely won't be the same as what he came with on top. If you don't want to do that, you simply have to be comfortable with the fact that there may be quite visible seam lines on his body.

If you order the human with the centaur head, it does have the elven pointy ears. I got my boy that way, and -love- that head to bits. The ears aren't detachable and they are fairly large () so they need a bit of being careful, but they're gorgeous.

 

More and more I'm wondering how their grey resin matches up to Soom's Euclase's grey... Cause I'd sure love an extra body for my extra Euclase head. lol Wouldn't be sure which would be better for it though, centaur or human.

 

He does have goregeous ears and the grey is a much nicer shade than I was expecting. The promo photos were very dark but he's a nice mid-range to lighter grey, almost with a bit of lilac undertone. Plus mine came with great seams so feeling the need to sand isn't even an issue. I'm so glad I treated myself to the fullset. He really is amazing. I just want to keep looking at him all the time!

Chiron is awesome~! It's probably one of my favorite Souldoll BJDs; I think it is such an amazing doll because of the horse legs, etc.

 

I have to say, unless a default grey Delphine and Kallix fell into my lap, he's my next doll as well. Not only am I becoming a grey resin addict but my other expensive hobby is my friesian stallion, so, as my daughter said, it's like they made him for you, mom!! She also said, forget it, he's to expensive....:P

 

Got a question for those who have ordered Chiron-centaur ver. I don’t quite understand the lower body option. When you add the lower body, is that adding the centaur body or the human body?

 

I think, when You buy Chiron-centaur version is possible added human body.

I'm ordering a Chiron at the end of oct. I just wanted to know how the tail is attacked to the body. I'm going to remove the tail they had and attach a real horse hair tail. i have horses and we are going to use his hair to make the tail. I really don't like the fake tail so we are going to do some custom work to fix that. lol

If anyone is interested in horse hair tails let me know . We will be making tails once he gets her. I have 5 colours(horses ) to work from.

I just asked Souldoll if it was possible to order the horse part in grey and the attached human part in white skin... I would love one like that,..that way my airbrushing wouldn't rub so much...

 

I'm getting the centaur white . I'm going to be with a help from my friend painting his black with a white blanket(Appaloosa horse colouring) and lighting strips on his legs. He's going to look like this when we are done with him.(horse part of him that is lol)

I just get my Chiron^^ I ordered him on 30 sept and he's alredy home in 22 november. Although I blamed the costums for held him for so long since he's already arrived in 16 November.

I'm ordering mine sometime in January probably-I'm using my tax refund to get him. I'll be ordering the centaur version in white and dyeing the horse part either black, grey or brown-I haven't decided which colour I want yet. I am so excited about getting one-now I just have to figure out where on earth I'm going to fit him in my little house. XD

Azulafan199-if you figure out the real horse hair thing let me know. If I get mine I want to paint him to match my little zebra striped grulla but love the horse hair idea. Maybe I could use my friesian's hair for the tail and make him a blend of the two. Frankly, I like the fake tail. But that is a really interesting idea!! Can't wait to see it.

I have ummed and ahhed about getting a centaur Chiron (after reading through this inspirational thread) but the additional PayPal cost and shipping and custom charges is making me nervous ... the waiting time for me is great as arrival would time with warmer weather so could do the faceup and painting then

 

I might order a human version. . . sometime. . . Haha. I was wondering if you have to pay Layaway and also, does human version come pre-strung? Thanks in advance.

heidipay: I hope you can save for one. There well worth it and he is alot of fun to take pics of. For getting him around I modified a huge meat shopping bag to carry him in. Its got nice big handles and ya he weighs alot but fun to take out for meets. I'm hoping to have him painted up by the end of Feb. Paint job as changed. Since they are base off a heaver style horse. I'm going to paint him up like a Clydesdale horse (brown with 4 white feet) . The Appaloosa marking where going to be too much on him and it would probably make him look skinnier then he is. so I decided to go with a more natural look for the big guy. more pics to come once he is painted.

 

Yeah, resisting other dolls is my problem with my Chiron. With everything I want done from the company he's about $1300....and there's a lot of dolls I want right now. I would also love a female version!! I think if my stallion nets me any stud fees this year I'll use 'em to buy Chiron LOL. I guesse then I'll have to paint him to match the actual boy. Friesians are just so monotone....

Agh, I know the feeling! Both heads are so beautiful! I'm allllmost certain I'm getting the centaur head, though. I *should* be able to order my Chiron this month. I'm just a bit terrified at the prospect of having to unstring him for dyeing. XD

I just purchased a human version Chiron from DDE. LOVES IT!!! I have him in grey skin. I purchased The Hallowmas outfit for him. This may have been covered in this thread already, but his feet are HUGE. DDE had no boots that would fit him. Also 8/9 wigs are a bit too big 7/8 are a bit too small. Does anyone have any suggestions what brand of shoes I could look into or wigs for that matter. I purchased him as a companion for my Vampire Red Elfdoll. Chiron is by far the most perfect doll I own. He May even become my favorite. I am so glad I went with the grey skin tone it makes him even more unique. I typically go for white or fair skin on most of my dolls.

 

@ schrett - I have a grey Chiron too! Despite my love for my other dolls, I have to say he is my fav! Just gorgeous! As for the wig issue I suggest moleskin, just stick on his head and it really helps hold the wigs (the thick moleskin is best with him). And for shoes there are a pair sold at Dollmore that fit him wonderfully. I'm at work now but I'll post what pair they are when I get home this evening.

Torturing Chiron

My friend at our last meet up had abit too much fun with the Prince and well he's now out for revenge.





He does kinda make a good scary clown guy though but please don't tell him I said that .lol

 

ummm, might be the wrong place to put this but.... is souldoll gonna release a girl to?!? I need a girl centaur lol that is my dream doll. It would be soooo cool. Is there a way to email them or something? Lol sry just a little excited and impatient XD.

 

When the chiron was released I asked Souldoll if they would make a girl and they said they would like to, but didn't have any concrete plans at that moment.
So maybe one day they will. I don't know.

 

Lol i emailed them last night and got the response of "were very much planing on a female, thank you for your interest. However, it could take some time b4 we are able to release her." or something like that. I really hope they do .

 

I hate to be repetitive, bu I've asked this question three times and I still need an answer. Does Chiron HAVE to be ordered through layaway?

 

no.... none of the Souldolls have to be ordered through layaway. they have that banner to let people know that they "can" order with layaway if they so choose.
