Souldoll Vito (50cm) Discussion - Part 4

I was surprised they refunded me. I hadn't expected anything nor did I contact them in the hopes of getting anything. I just thought they should know that the face-up was exceptionally sunburned looking and certainly not what I was expecting at all. I can completely understand the default being all the same across the board. That's why it's called a default face-up.

SD has been very good when I've emailed them about questions. Eilam (Vito Rail) has the default face-up minus the strange lines under his eyes at my request. I'd offered to pay extra for that to be left out of the default but they said it was no problem to leave the lines out. I love his face-up and can't imagine him with a different one.

My Souloid also has the default face-up for the head I have on the body (yea for free head events!). They were very good about helping me instruct them to NOT paint the Phiel head but to paint the Titika head with his default face-up so there wouldn't be any confusion.

 

I ran into a similar problem with an Iplehouse limited girl. Her
default resin tone was tan and I ordered her in their Peach Gold.
When I got the doll the default blushing made her look hideous.
When One of my friends told me she looked scary I decided to
do something about it. I sent her head off to my favorite face up
artist and had her wiped and a new face up applied. She is now
beautiful. You really need to be careful about getting a default face
up on a lighter resin tone doll.

 

@TomB I hadn't thought the level of blushing would be that high despite it being fairly heavy in the promo shots. That's on me. However, it might've been prudent for the face-up artist to realize how dark it was becoming and use a lighter touch. Live and learn, right?

I will be sending him out to have his sunburn treated with massive amounts of aloe. I'm not sure yet who is coming with me to DollNorth in May so I'm waiting a bit before I send him out in case he makes the cut to come with me. I have a fairly large selection of guys to bring even if I only consider the "new" dolls in my collection since last year's DollNorth. I try to bring dolls/sculpts that people don't see frequently or sometimes dolls that others specifically ask me to bring because they've never seen one in person. I think I'm the only one in my local group that has a Berial. If he comes, his partner, Kai-Wen (Raccoon Doll Elf Kai) will come as well and I don't think there's any Raccoon boys in my local group either.

 

Okay. So I made a decision today to buy a second hand Iplehouse Rex FID in ns to be my Vito Liam's body. I will be able to switch heads if I want or I can sell the Rex head. Only thing is, I need to mod the neck hole of his head. Although IH heads are smaller (15cm) their neck holes are much bigger; a dremel will be necessary. My big concern is what respirator should I buy to be safe? Anyone here know?

I just modded the neck opening to use an Iplehouse body for my Vito Liam. This is a model body and I just bought a muscle body which will be his. They have the same neck top.

Rai-Sui finally has a body! After being a floating head for over 2 years I snagged a body in the MP and he's finally a whole doll.

The resin match is extremely close and if he wasn't in strong sunlight, it probably wouldn't be noticeable at all. With a face-up, it's likely not going to be an issue. He needs clothes as I've just cobbled something together so he's not nekked but that will require me getting off my lazy butt and actually making stuff.

 

@Iron_Dog - Ra-Sui! Doll Wisp must be happy (I can't remember if he already has a body though). I am interested to see his faceup when it's complete.

I have quite a few dolls requiring face-ups now. Rai-Sui has been a long time waiting but he was also just a head for the longest time.

I thought I got dropped from this thread but I guess it just went quiet. I got Rai-Sui back from the face-up artist yesterday and I love what she did with him. Awful apartment lighting is awful but I wanted to share.

Rai-Sui is adorable, perhaps adorable is the wrong word. He looks magnificent with just a dash of 'creepy'.

I'm awful at taking pictures but I recently ended up with two Vito girls, a Freya in NS and a Calia in Sandy Brown, and I ordered a Vito male (Lester from the discontinuation/unsold orders) who should be here sometime early next year depending on production. I may have gone a little 'spend crazy' and ordered 4 dolls and some accessories (Mostly shoes and heel feet) from them all at once so I'm expecting a bit more of a wait as they cast everything. Does anyone have a favorite wig company for the Vito line? I tend to like synthetic wigs but I've noticed a lot of the companies I find in their sizes tend to look to 'full' as they have a smaller head than most dolls their wig size. I'll find wigs eventually, I'm just curious what everyone else does. Especially because I forgot all about wigs/clothes when making my order for the dolls.

 

Rai-Sui is wearing a 5/6 Litch 2D wig. It's a touch big but I think part of that is because of the "missing" resin on the part of his skull side. His wig hides it, but the skull part continues up his head beyond where a wig typically sits. Eilam (Rail) wears a 7/8 Hual wig and it fits him nicely (he also has a silicone cap under it) and it's gorgeously soft. Berial (Belial) wears a 7/8 Happy Camille wig with a silicone cap and it fits well. Both of them need the silicone cap for their wigs as they are quite long (ass-length) and on the heavier side so tend to want to slide off slick resin heads.

Monique has some really lovely, soft wigs (the gold collection) and generally they don't end up looking too pouffy on the smaller heads. I've got Monique wigs on some of my smaller headed guys (4/5, 5/6 & 6/7) and the pouffiness really only starts to come into play with the much smaller sizes. The size 3 wigs I bought... they're a hard no.

 

Oh, I use 6-7" on my Liam. Even they can be poofy. I think it's the head shape.

 

Argh! I meant Rai-Sui wears a 6/7 Litch wig. Typing before coffee has entered the system is obviously dangerous.

 

@Iron_Dog - Amazing faceup, cool details. It's cool to see how his one eye actually looks with the dripping part. Wisp must be happy to have him back.

 

He is. I need to take some couple shots now. Didn't get to last night as my camera battery was critically low and only managed a few shots before it went dark. Rai-Sui is currently sitting on my desk at work (because I work in the chillest office ever).

 

So what does everyone think about Charlotte and the new Vito girl body?

 

@nancy_schroeder_ca I ordered the new Tarot girl! This will be my first doll directly from Soul Doll in ages, lol. I also got the human Charlotte face blank. I think she'd look great with a different faceup . Did you order her too?

 

I haven't yet! There is a little matter of the cost when I add up everything I want!

 

Haha! I understand!! I'm doing a 6 mo. layaway . There's still time to decide. I kept debating since she was released to see if I realllly wanted her. Her entire look is spectacular though . The wig and outfit...and shoes are amazing. I didn't get the body blushing though as I usually never do...so she may not come with painted finger nails.

Update: did actually ask for the body blushing so her nails have those gems on them

 

I have very grabby hands for the human version. I like the look of the new body but haven't ordered yet because 1) I can't seem to find my money tree and 2) I don't have ANY dolls in this size! I just wish they'd kept their old double line for bodies.

 

I love the human version - if you can call a lavender- skin girl human. I wish they hadn't put indentations on Star's face. jewels would stay on without them.

I asked SD if I can order the urethane shoes with human.

the vito size is nice. I'm curious about the new body. they cheated in the posing pics, putting her joints out with her knees up.

 

I wonder why SD decided to make the new girl so tall with a large head that doesn't match either the old boy or girl? that's the only thing turning me off ordering her.
that is a BIG head. she won't fit with any of my dolls!

 

I wonder the same as petiteballerine, the new vito girls will look odd with the previously released dolls .. Maybe they're going to update the boys too? and change the line's style?

 

According to their measurements, Charlotte is 7 inches and Freya is 6.5. That's not a big difference so they may be within a normal human variation.

PS. I did order Charlotte with the no beads head.

 

I order Charotte un human version, she is my first doll un this size, maybe dollfie dream clothes fit this body, somebody try it

 

I'm getting a Soul Doll Freya and I'm having trouble finding any threads on her. My question is where can I buy clothing that would fit her well? I'm buying her secondhand and while she does come with a dress, it's not the exact style I have in mind for her. I'd like her to be more "modern", so where do you shop for clothing in her size?

 

Oh boy, you're not going to want to hear this, but unless its from Souldoll I have yet to find clothing that works completely for then Vito girls.

 

Oddly enough, dresses that fit the FID Iplehouse original body girls fit my Vitos. (the original body. who knows what will fit the new ones?)
I wouldn't choose a tailored outfit, but this and two other gowns I have fit in the waist with room to spare. a bit mind-boggling. I have some Elfdoll things, and several modern outfits for Dollstown Elf size that work as well. And when I say 'fit,' I mean looks nice, no need for pins. So, it's a treasure hunt. Best tackled if you have other dolls items will fit.
I'll try some more things on my girl this week during daylight when I can take decent pics.

 

Hey all,
I have a bit of an obscure doll project coming up for my MSD crew in the coming months, and I was just wondering if anyone here would by any chance have a Minifee head and a Vito boy head they could take photos of side by side? I've read that the Vito heads wear 6-7 size wigs, as does my Minifee Honoka, but I don't want to assume that that means they look like they're the same size heads. I'm not worried about height comparison, as if I end up getting a Vito boy head I'll be putting him on a different body, so just pics of the heads on their own would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

 

Just realized that I'd never posted a pic of Rai-Sui and Wisp after Rai-Sui was painted. Although it wasn't intended, I've discovered that Rai-Sui's eye seems to "follow" you in photos despite my not re-positioning it in his head. How cool is that?

Thanks. Rai-Sui is wearing a Litch wig called God, which is hilarious as Rai-Sui is the God of Death, Decay & Guardian of Souls. Wisp is wearing a Monique wig although the name of the style escapes me at the moment.

Hi @mythos_bjd I took some pictures for you. They feature my Minifee Elf FLAM, modded Vito Berial (the painted head), and Vito HyunO. I did Berial and HyunO because, to me, they're quite different even though they're from the same line. HyunO is quite a bit bigger than Berial.

hi everyone! i was wondering what size Lester’s head is? in cm if you can? i’m wondering if his head would look too small if i used him as a boyfriend to my SpiritDoll SnowDrop

 

I have a Vito Hyun-O coming in this week from the second hand market, so I've been poring over all the Vito threads to see what to do about clothing. Not a ton of suggestions, so I'm planning on doing some sewing for my new boy. I know some people here sew for their Vito boys, does anyone have an idea what percentage reducing "normal" size SD patterns works?
He should be here Wednesday, I reduced a pattern by eye, based mostly on my Dollstown Elf bodies, as the measurements are pretty close, but wondered if someone had a "formula"?

 

There are patterns for Tonner's Peter Pensive which should fit well. The legs will be a little short but that is an easy change.

 

@Ivke I don't know the size of your SnowDrop but the cirumference of Lester's head (taken in a straight line above the ears) is exactly 20cm in my case. Taken with the wig on.

@wally when I still had my Soudoll Double boy his tops fit the Vito body perfectly. So slim SD13 clothes should fit. As for pants again SD13 pants might fit (really check the hip size or ask the one you want to buy from for the pants width), but you'll definitly to shorten the legs.

I can't really recommend any patterns, as I tend to make my own, by simply putting down the nude doll on a sheet of paper, trace the torso and then add to the shape the cm as needed (meassuring e.g. the chest size, dividing it by two (for one side front/back) and again by two to meassure from the middle of what I put on the paper and add to it. Then I re-trace the shape with the markers for the added cm). Not sure if I could properly communicate that ^^°°°

 

omg thank you so much! her head is 17.5 cm so im happy his is 20! i was scared of his head being smaller bc ive seen a lot of people say Vito heads can look disproportionate next to slim msds so thank u!!

 

Well, it depends on your taste and her aesthetics.
Lester is more slim at the front, so his head isn't really round but rather oval from the top.
If she's sculpted like eg Luts KDF Molds it might still seem a bit off. But it really depends on your own personal taste and perhaps even the face-ups. In real live there are various people with various head and face shapes. The Vitos are more on the realistic side and take small eyes (8-12mm) and smaller wigs (7, 7-8), but there still are some that pair them up with other more realistic sized SDs (eg. the Dollmore Zaoll ladies). If you put the sculpt next to a strongly stylized doll (especially those anime-inspired ones), they will look off.

From what I've seen she has pretty big eyes, but otherwise is more on the realistic side feature wise. I'd recommend putting pictures of them next to each others, see if you like the difference in style.

 

thanks for the advice! i am going to be getting realistic faceups for them both so i’m thinking if wont be as bad, also if i put small iris eyes in snowdrop i think it will work fine and i have her on a doll leaves body so not as chunky as kdf, definitely going to try the putting their pictures next to eachother! tysm

Snowy I have a lot of SD items to rummage through in lots of "SD" sizes. And yes, your pattern making makes perfect sense.
He arrived today, late for my usual UPS delivery, so by the time I got him glue sueded (he sits up nicely now) and dressed, it's late. But he's lovely and I think I'm really going to enjoy his size! I actually had to take his feet off to get these SD skinny jeans on him, but they look good. Big thighs this one, but I really like his body sculpt!

They're lovely Rashell! What size and brand of eyes do you have in your Lester? My Hyun-O has such deep and wide eyewells, I'm struggling with eyes that fit right!

It's an awesome size and the sculpting is cool. Not making it easy on the clothing front, but worth the trouble/efford in my oppinion -^^-

Finding clothes for these boys is indeed difficult! I sew leather, but it's been many years since I've sewn for BJDs. It took me forever to create a pattern and make a pair of jeans. My pattern needs some tweaking, but the jeans are finally finished. His leather hat and belt were a cinch, but leather is not alive like fabric is!

Thanks for the compliments on the jeans! I made him some houndstooth trousers and a denim shirt, and have realized that I should pay a lot for clothes for him, making them took me forever!!! I'm hoping Souldoll will come up with a new outfit for Vito boys soon...

 

My Charotte or Charlotte arrived! She is the Star version in light serenity. The color is beautiful! She took so long to ship that Souldoll apologized and refunded my shipping fee to points. So I guess I need to buy something else! She was shipped in a huge box.
