Souldoll Souloid discussion part 1

Ahhhh the wings will be here this week! I went a little crazy and decided his upper body needed to be blushed in anticipation of his wing arrival, and now he's in pieces
Oops what if his wings arrive before I'm done wAhhhh

I'm about to skim through this thread for examples of blushing. Has anyone tried to make their doll have a dirtier look? Like I feel like his hands might be stained with oil like a mechanics hands from working on his parts....but I'm also nervous at the idea since most dolls tend to look like freshly washed people.


I also picked the PERFECT wig for him but I'll have to wait for the next preorder window. I'm looking at a frappzilla studio wig in Oil Slick color and their lion mane style- I think it is a great representation of hair that would be swept about from flying Lionhead Cut

And he's got a new shirt in the mail from Alice Collection. He's coming together!

Oooo very science fiction. What’s the story?

 

@skyealloway Oh, it’s semi-cliche ^^•
There are ruins of various old civilizations all over the world my MSD middelage/fantasy world.
Most of them were highly advanced. The remains of one particular culture hints that they were proficient in both magic and technology.
One of my adventure groups will hook up with my ruins expert (a kind of archeologist, if you want) and find a hidden mechanism leading into an unknown part of a ruin. In there they will find and accidentally awaken Qu.

Qu is the last known... survivor of a culture long gone. Originally born as a human, he got into a deadly accident. His family were gifted magical engineers and they kind of transfered his brainwaves/memories/personality in electronic signals to put his ‚soul‘ into a prototype he himself had been making. A sort of mechanical homunculus with a magical core.
They never got to activate him due to certain war-like circumstances and thus hid him away so noone could take advantage of him and to bring him back once it was save.
Well... obviously that never happened. Until now ;3

Maybe there will be a continuation of that pic (when he's found) in the (near?) future, as soon as I have enough time to set everything up and add the finishing touches ^^°

... Or not that early. I just realized I still need my ruin explorer's partner reshelled X.x (Haven't found 'the' mold yet *sigh*)

 

My neglected Souloid got a new wig! I got a frapzilla wing sized for teenie gem and it fits perfect. its very soft, although the color blend, petrol, is a little more of a "blue black with ocassional bright purple piece" instead of an oil slick color like it'd hoped.

Also got my 2nd one incoming and need some other mecha to keep me busy from repeatly hitting the tracking refresh button every other second XD

 

No new pictures, my Lavi is currently headless. Sold the Lavi Head, needed quick cash. Now I’m sad about it but what can you do lol - I’m looking for a replacement sculpt. The one that fits beg is Aehael, naturally. Anyone have any other sculpts on their Souloid bodies for my inspiration?

What caught my eye this time with your boy, is that you used the 'human feet'. I don't think I ever noticed this before, but I also think I've ever seen a Souloid with the non-mecha feet before :3

(EDIT: Btw I asked Souldoll via Instagramm if there's going to be a release or re-release of the Souloids, since I'm still on the hunt of the other two Souloid body variations I'm missing, and they have stayed suspicously silent, when last time I asked, they were rather quick to answer. Hoping this means something good? ^^°)

My Iraki is currently out of his fullset outfit because the black totally stained him! I went through tons of scrubbing by magic erasers to get him un-stained...!

 

Iraki is an Iconic doll. Your photo is wonderful and I'm so glad to see him.

 

@Snowy yes I used to prefer the human feet, but a few years ago one of the ankles got a bad chip and he’s worn the robot feet ever since
@april ack! I guess I’ve not used the fullest enough to have that problem, how terrible!

Recently I’ve regretted having the black and white fullset instead of the orange brown fullset. My husband made the decision that he doesn’t like my Iraki anymore, so every time it’s time to assess who I might should sell, he’s always suggesting poor Seth . I don’t think I’ll be parting with him thou

I don't think I've ever seen them re release any of their limited dolls but never know. I'm really sad that I missed Lavi and Phiel...I really wanted to get them both I just totally forgot and then the limited period was over..same as a few of their other dolls. In fact I'm still waiting on one of their dolls that I ordered in October.

I would love for them to release another souloid maybe in a fantasy color like a red, youcould totally make a iron man/woman inspired look..lol.

Yes the black resin is amazing...I really love all of their different skin colors they have had over the years as well. I've been ordering some of their fantasy dolls and always get the special colors they offer. Still don't have any of their dolls in their grey resin yet though.

 

@april ... nowadays that's not called old. It's called vintage. your boy still looks brand new thought and I'd totally invite him to move in with me XD
O.o oh darn. No chance the black staining actually looks good? (I guess not, stains rarely make a cool pattern u.u)

I believe I have a brand new pair, still bubble wrapped somewhere from my Diget, that I don't really need....

I wish I had one of the Iraki sets too (especially the one with orange hair XD I have plans for a future Souloid with orange hair).

Pft! How can you husband NOT LOVE MECHAS (or androids, or cyborgs or whatever! Especialyl the Souloids are so darn cool!!!)

Admittedly, I'm planning to adjust a Megaman/Rockman OC I designed many years ago to a Souloid. Once I can get my hands on an all white one ^^°

 

Well--- my Iraki looks new in the photo because it was taken when he first arrived! (I think he's aged OK, though.)

The black staining was the worst I've experienced. But after many sessions of magic eraser, I think I got most of it out and you really can't see it. I had to re-spray his body, though (also to make sure he had some protection if it happened again).

I dipped his outfit in some dye-setting/washing liquid, but I'm not sure how well that worked.

I bought some of the other Iraki outfits, so I will have to try him out in those before I try the black one again (although I love how he looks in that black outfit!).

 

@april Good think you got the stains off.... Any new pics in his other outfits? or outfit combinations?

My 2nd one came today. His name is going to be ZeroOne and he's... a special unit, that I'm not revealing to much of yet, cause I dunno if I can pull through with my plans.
So here he is, a tan Walter on Phiel's golden body and he came with an unexpected surprise:

I didn't knew the new Souloid body was shorter (legs ar shorter, ball joint of foot itself its lower) than the original one!
This suits me just fine, but it surely came as a surprise.

That said, I realized I'm not running out of extra eyes or wigs, but - surprise, surprise - I had barelly anything going into the direction I want ZeroOne to go. Hoping to get eyes made by now, as I can't find the one I originally planned anymore and as for wig... I wanted a rally BRIGHT ORANGE one, but I can't find the one I had seen before either, so contemplating an orange Monique wig (Faith) and chop chop chop chopping off a lot of hair, unless i can find another that I believe would work.
Color shade for the eyes is going to be black-greenish if all goes well.
Also intending to do some blushing on that sexy body of his. His registry number/name needs to go somwhere and I'm contemplating maybe the same area as Qu's mark just in numbers 01 and 'ZeroOne' written on his back, over the shoulder blades. For the body, I want to try and make the gold shine some more, before giving them a used/dirty perhaps even rusty shade. (I did my best to empathize Qu's curves and details with black pastel and that's definitly something I want for ZeroOne as well).

Other than that, I'm thinking of maybe adding some extra color. Perhaps some red details (yes, I'm an IronMan fan and I'm totally in love with the red-gold combo ^3^). I'll see ;9

 

@Snowy oh cool! I had no idea they were shorter! I had a mohair Luts wig from forever ago that was bright orange. Have you considered making a yarn wig? You can get yarn in bright orange. I really enjoy the few yarn wigs I’ve made (I kind of regret spending the money on the frappzilla wig now cuz I’ve been real happy with my results)

I haven’t actually. I tried making a fibre wig once and gave up soon. I don’t really have the patience for it

That size difference is a surprise to me, too! Somehow I would have thought the gold body would be taller... I wonder if they had to remake the molds and had that shrinking thing happen? Hmmm.

But I agree that the size difference is good. I like dolls that are slightly different. I think I didn't get another boy souloid because I already had Iraki... I was tempted a lot by the girl souloids for that reason...

It's been hot here and I've been feeling lazy... haven't done much with any dolls at all for far too long.

 

@Snowy not long, if I’m not super busy I can do one in a weekend, leaving time for drying of the cap and wefts and subsequent layers. I like that I can start on a Monday and put just a bit of time in each evening and be done by Friday it’s a satisfying activity for me as a busy mom because it’s easy to drop what I’m doing and pick back where I left off.

 

@april I do believe so as well. I noticed a lot of areas where it seems they... glued things in? Not sure if it's a resin batch not taking the color, but I got white areas where the tubes connect to the body as well as along the spine.
While taking pics and handling them, I've also noticed other differences, that I did not notice when I originally compared the company pics of old body and new.

Well, the upside? The female Souloids show up on the MP or otherwise a lot more often than the boys.
Still irks me that there seem to be many more out there, but the owners seem shy showing them off? I keep finding the same Souloid pics no matter what search engine I use. Not that they aren't fun to look at, but... I wanna see (and own) more?

Eh, i feel you. It's hot here too and is part of the reason why I got lots of unfinised dolls lining up in my guest room ^^°

@Lornica I last texted them oon August 7th were they told me "Hi. We are not sur about it and we don't have any plans to rerelase any Souloids within the year. Sorry about it."

Contact them and ask, and maybe they'll realize that ppl STILL WANT THEM.

@Snowy -- oh, I didn't see that one! It's actually LESS than the Ier on the Marketplace... So no, I'm not buying. Although both are tempting!!! And both of the Doll Peddler souloids have the steelskin metal parts, which is cool.

-- I'm heading to L-Doll in October, so that and the travel expenses to France have eaten all my doll money!

I'd SOOOOOOOOO love to go to LDoll, but that weekend is exactly the last weekend I absolutly can't go (I'm working on Saturday and have no chance to get to France, do some shopping and return in time for Monday work on time) T^T If only it had been a week later... Both Souloids have been up there for quite some time (since their release, well, duh ^^°) and I don't think they'll disappear anytime soon.

As for the Ier, that one is in tan and black, no? That was quite pricy upon release, if I remember correctly. With body blushing on top... ouchies for the savings ^^°

 

I'm all the way in California, so it is a LONG trip to France. I've been a number of times before, but it's difficult to do it very often... I think the last time I was in Europe was in 2009, so it's been a while. Just going to France this time with a friend who is also into bjds. She's never been to France, so I'm sort of just tagging along to all the spots she needs to see. It'll be nice... Paris, Mt. St. Michel, some Loire Valley--and L-Doll!

Gah--I hope there isn't a second-hand market!!! I already ordered 3 tinies from Mewiefish, Nympheas and Fea Doll... I won't have any room in the luggage for much else!

Yes, I'm sure there is a reason they are asking so much for that Ier! She's also got a lot of blushing and tattoos and such. Very pretty. But I SO do NOT need another doll, even though I love the Souloids! I haven't even played enough with the one I have...

Maybe a doll will pop up second hand (one you already have XD so I have a chance)
I may even consider writing them a mail and be the next one to ask for a re-release xD

 

Having a souloid body and a human body is what’s driving the price on those. Who would want to be human when you could be souloid

I heard that they are unsure wether or not there will be another LDoll. Supposedly visitor numbers have been declaining? There definitly won't be one in 2019.
Also, my intense work month is always Oct/Nov (depending how holidays fall), so it tends to collidate with LDoll every time ^^°°°

Play with them some more and they'll let you know that you totally need another - you just don't know it yet XD

Also: Poke them after LDoll XD Or maybe ask DollPeddlar if they'd split the item. They have had it up for a while, mayyybe you can sway them.

Speaking of Doll Peddlar, I don't know if it is a full human body or just the lower portion so you can make a full human with the chest piece.That is what the Souloid Diget set options were. It would be interesting to find out, but I already have my Diget so I'm good.

 

I love my human Phiel - gave him a cute clockwork heart and arm, but what he'd really need is those nice robotic feet instead of shoes. Seeing how rare souloids are though... Let alone their feet

 

@Widu maybe you could get a 2nd pair of human feet and have them modded ind robotic/mecha feet? Then you could also have something unique.

Souloids unfortunately are rare and I‘m afraid few would part with part with what makes them so special. ^^•

 

Oh, I know I probably should have gone for souloid, they're truly something special, but I love Phiel for what he is now I think modded souloid-oid robofeet would suit him too.

Qu is my Souloid Diget in white and silvers and was/is my first Souloid.

I've finally got to a point where my 2 souloids (originally Diget and Lavi) have their final heads (now Charlie and Gana). I haven't had time for a proper photo shoot, but here they are with the other 2 members of my souloid family. They still need some body blushing on their mechanical parts, but it's nice to have them all put together.
