As stated in an email that a user had sent to souldoll, they are going to be making a new soulkid body so many when that time comes, a new soulkid will be released :P don't know when that will be though...

 

Hi - was thumbing thru the posts - I am also very interested in a Katie. she is beauitufl - would you be able to post an owner picture? How long did you have to wait for her? This will be my first bjd and I'm trying to choose wisely. Thanks

 

Oh my - to pay that much for a doll and then have to remake her - I'm rethinking Soul Doll now. I so much appreciate all these threads. thank you all for volunteering all your issues and remedies.

there's lots more pictures of her on my flickr or blog. i haven't modded her in anyway other than changing her eye color. she could probably use glue sueding/wiring but so far i haven't bothered.

i can't remember how long i waited 'cause she's a couple of years old. i put her on layaway at dde and she was ready to ship when i finished.

I wish they'd do more Tarot dolls in the Soulkid size! So far Lev was the only one and there has been some Zenith and doubles. ._.

 

I had to wait 9 weeks for my souldoll, but I ordered during an event period so it took a little longer then usual.

 

I think she means by paying extra for the make up ^^ correct me if i'm wrong

nowadays it's about 12 weeks @_@ w/o any events

I bought her second hand, so I don't know about Souldoll's waiting times. However, I think their dolls are at a fair price for the quality you get.

 

Really 12 weeks? Wow I just got my girl back in Feb. I am surprized that their time frame has increased so quickly.

 

Ah - well if that's the case, IMO, Soulkids are insanely reasonable in their pricing, but that's my opinion. Their faceups are absolutely stunning for what you're paying. There are always artists on here that are more than willing to do faceups though if you want something cheaper!

 

I agree, souldolls faceups are just lovely and they are resonably priced! Especailly compared to the recent increases from fairyland, and Iplehouse.

 

I just remembered an old thread with pictures of Katie here.

 

fairyland and iplehouse are also that bad right now, actually fairyland is closer to 16weeks on a lot of their orders. the only ones i know personally that are quicker are dollmore (roughly two weeks from order to arrival without a faceup) and luts which (was about a month to arrival and that was during an event!) i reeally like my katie though and she was worth waiting for. she's also one of the few that i got a default faceup done.

my kids have arrived i'm going to post photos of them when they have their face ups tomorrow however, is it normal for the body to have really bad seam lines? i don't want to have to send it the body back. Lev's body is fine, but it's liddell's leg that's weird... (see picture below)

Aww. Is it just that leg? Maybe you should just buy water-sand-paper and sand it. Mine has some lines but they're not very bad so I haven't bothered. I don't think they would take it back for sanding (?).
I'm really looking forward to the pics

Vivere has some bad seams. But I am not too bothered by that...

i can see some! so i guess its not that bad. i'm re-stringing both mine as per your advice. i'm so glad souldoll gave extra string.... decapitated body parts looks so weird lol...

 

My tan Emilia has really bad seams too. I just don't think I can sand her since she's tan? There are some other issues as well but I'm choosing to ignore them because I really like her.

 

i've heard you can't sand tan cause it will look worse. but i've never had a tan doll so don't know for sure.

having to sand lines is fairly normal, i think all of mine have needed at least some sanding. just make sure you wear a mask and do it outdoors. you don't want to inhale the dust!

 

whoa, finally finished restringing only Liddell (too annoyed to try to redo Lev lol) and also spent a long time doing their face ups. not the greatest, but satisfactory for now.

Please use a very fine-grained sandpaper. Never use a coarse-grained sandpaper.

 

Dear fellow Soulkids owners,

Do you remember that I had bought some clothes for my Emma (Soulkids-Girl Katie.A) from an eBay shop? The clothes were originally designed for Tonner's DeeAnna Denton doll, so they are a bit huge for Emma.

So I suggested Amy, the owner of the eBay shop, to add clothes for Soulkids-Girl in the categories of her eBay shop. Amy has created a basic pattern for Soulkids-Girl (I have sent her data of body measurements of Soulkids-Girl and some photos of Emma as references.

Yesterday, Amy emailed me that she has finished the basic pattern and will soon add the category of "Soulkids-Girl Dress" in her eBay shop. I will inform you when she actually uploads her new Soulkids-Girl dresses on her eBay shop.

 

I love your Liddell, vintagecouture! She is very dramatic with those red lips and green eyes. Was it tricky to restring her? I've never restrung a soulkid before, but have done so with minifees...I find the process extremely nerve wracking!

as for re-stringing, it was easier than expected! however, with my sister's help it was 10x easier.

I think if you don't restring the doll, it's going to be hard putting the head back on. that was the issue i had. It was so tight that I had to have my sister help me keep the body down while i put the head on!! it was a pain!

another face up... lol... think i might have to try again... too much gloss on around the eyes and I messed up on the bottom lashes part >.<

 

@v1ntagecouture Yay, moar crazy face-uppers Keep going! I like the latter one, what I see of the blush seems nice. ^^ Actually Näri's first face-up had really red lips too XD But you did them better than me. Are those the random eyes/wigs that came with them? And did you make a box opening? ^w^

haha nari is so cute! and thanks! i will do another face up though :P probably for my boy too. i learnt how to do the pastel colours better.

the eyes came with it, but the wig that came with it is this long purple thing >.< and it's too big and Lev came with this weird long wig with a ponytail >.> but with grey eyes \^.^/

 

Amy, the owner of eBay shop for beautiful doll dresses, sent me a prototype dress for Soulkids-Girl. I checked the measurement and the fitness for feedback to Amy and informed some details needed for the final version. Here I post a photo of Emma in the prototype dress.

Anyways today i made a skirt. here is liddell looking very colourfull XD

 

Dresses~ Skirts~ XD Maybe I should try making a proper skirt too. The ones I made earlier aren't exactly masterpieces... I like that one, v1ntagecouture ^^ It has a nice style.
What's with Souldoll and long wigs? I got a curly, yellow one with white stripes. O.o It doesn't suit Näri at all, but I can't really sell it unless I go to a meet somewhere. I'm really glad I bought another one.
Yay for new face-ups o/ I'll have to ask one of my friends to buy sealant for me online, because dad would disapprove..

if it's just the style you don't like, why don't you cut it? i've done that with several wigs that didn't work. i figure i'll never get around to selling them so if i mess up it's no big loss and as it turned out most of the time i love them when i'm done.

 

@auntbear, thanks for the idea ^^ I don't think I'll cut it though, it's mainly the color I don't like. If I manage to sell it, that'll be some more wig money~

 

i can see that. i don't think that any wigs other than mohair are dyeable so selling sounds like the better option

I got my converse type shoes today in the mail! they are so cute, but is it just me or are the MSD sized shoes slightly too large for my dolls?

It's also funny that the wig I got from souldoll is too big >.> lol.

 

actually i find most of them huge! soulkids have small feet it seems. i look for shoes that are labelled 6cm long to 6.5 max since cailyn's feet are barely 5.5cm. if you check the listings i've found a lot of them are 7cm and i've even seen some labelled msd at 8cm long! sometimes to get the right size i've gone to larger yo-sd sized shoes. i tend to check dimensions more than labels after getting too many shoes that litterally fall off.

 

Haven't been here in a while and I'm glad to see that there are some new faces while old ones have remained. I'll go back now to catch up on everything I've missed in my extended absence (pesky real life!) but please except some spam of Ava in the meantime to make up for it:

Oh, I think I like Evelin. But I have to see owner pictures to be sure. I've come to understand that Souldoll dolls often look really different from the promo pictures.

I'm not -yet- buying male dolls, but I think both guys look good. And I love the new outfits !

I found Souldoll is quite honest with the promo photos though. As long as you get the default make up, it looks the same (that was what I got for my Maillo~ I changed their make up now ~).
Ruan is my favorite. I love those dreamy eyes ^^ I'll actually get her if they are not selling the last Maillo this August. Gosh, why do I have to make it a triplet

 

I found Lev to look so weird on their promo pics >.> That wig and makeup looks so odd, but I knew he had the potential to look like the special one they had "The fool Apricot Lev" or something to that effect, and I was sold!!

 

I found their promo pics always have that twisted feel to a doll, but they still look strangely nice ^^;

 

He does! Doesn't he? But I keep seeing Lev as this grumpy boy until I saw some pics of him in the clothings promo and then I thought, whoa, he can totally look like a sweet shy boy. XD

 

yep, he's so cute I love him. I was almost regretting getting him so close to getting Lev, but after finishing a new face up today, he's quite prince-ly lol.

and navci, did you get my FB msg? I sent one to you asking if when you got your Lev, did it come with the wig from the promo pics? Cause I want to find something like that for my Lev. I can't seem to find the right wig for him!

I didn't get your message. When I got him he came with a short brown wig... which I didn't keep.
But I got him this wig:

from Blue Fairy. ... which is similar... except WAY TOO BIG.

Ya but at the time they didn't have Shiny Fairies (Yo size) yet, so now they do have a 6-7 size wig. :>

 

Which gender is Ruan?! ...Nevermind, he's in the boys section -v-; I like him. His lips seem weird though, you can't see what they're actually like from the pics.
Haha, shoes. Näri's both pairs are 6.5 cm and way too big, but they were so cheap I got them anyway. They do work, like they don't fall off, and are pretty cute. But I wish Souldoll made some casual clothes too, I would've liked to get a dress shirt and shorts when buying the doll, but it wasn't possible :/ I love the outfits but they wouldn't even suit any of my characters...
