    2. hi everyone!

i just got my Harang a few days ago, and he is ABSOLUTELY LOVELY! i ordered the event-set on 18-May actually, so it took them more than 4 weeks to get it to me. (and i got the exact same wig shown in the default pics, except it was NEON green :()

and now i'm confused. the new souldoll kid does not come with an S-hook to connect the neck and head(like Paris). instead an elastic string comes out from the neck, and a small metal rod has to be slotted in-between the loop. then the rod is affixed onto grooves at a height slightly above the ears. my question is, how am i going to restring him? the opening on the neck is so small, and again there seems to be metal rods inside too. and he didn't come with any instruction manuals on how to restring. :(

also, i ordered him with his default makeup, and his lips have a very small chip(although it's not very noticable). i'd like to remove his lip makeup and try doing it again myself. what can i use to remove it, and what kind of materials can i use to do his lips?

any Harang/SoulDoll Kids owner can help me? i'd be very grateful, as Harang is my first BJD, and i love him to death

    3. So glad to see an other harang owner! I can't help with the restringing thought as I'm too affraid to do it and find the magnt openning of the head sooo practical. As for the make up you can remove it with so nail polish remover (rince a lot after) althought if the face up as been sealed removing just the lip will creat a kind of hole in layer the sealing product and you'll have to put it ALL away so be carefull! for any advice on face up ect.. you should go to the painting and customizing part of the forum

    4. Oh, congrats on your new boy! Harang is just gorgeous - I hope you'll post pictures of him soon!

As for the restringing... perhaps what you could do is to pull the head upwards, so that the string shows between the neck and the head, and then grab hold of the string. When you've got it, stick a pencil etc through the string, to make sure it doesn't slip away, and then use your grip on the string from under the neck to push the um, rod thing out of it's slot. You can then grab the rod (hook the ends over bent fingers) and pull off the head (this is just guess work from your description, hopefully it'd work though!). Or, if you're just looking to restring the whole body, you can pull off a foot and start the unstringing that way. ^_^

As lorka says, be careful when removing the lip paint. You might be better off just patching over the chip with some paint and resealing the whole face, rather then trying to whipe of just one section of it and potentially messing up the whole faceup that you just paid for. Your call though. And yeah, there's tons of info over in the customising part of the forum that should be able to help you. Good luck with it!

    5. I was wondering if you took your Harang apart or figured this out yet?

I want to take my Griffi apart and blush/coat her and then restring her as her legs are a bit loose. The new system is odd and nothing like any of the tutorials.

I have a message into souldoll but no response yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

    6. That's great! The little metal bits finall make sense.
      Thanks, Star! :D

    7. Don't be afraid. It's not hard at all. Just take your time and follow the directions.

I took Griffi apart yesterday, blushed and coated her and put her back together. It was the first time I ever took any BJD apart so I just followed the directions and it was simple.

Now she stands really good and I really feel that it helped me bond with her.

It would help to have a second person pull the elastic through her legs when putting her back together. I wrapped the string I used to pull around a table leg but it would have been easier to have someone help to put her little foot on.

    8. Hi!

Oh thank you for this thread! :D I was about to ask advice for something of this nature. I am glad I looked about for this. This is all pretty new to me. >.>

I have seen pictures with Harang being sent from Soul Doll with his head not attached. Is this common? The head is wrapped separate from the body. Most likely because of a faceup was done (I plan on getting a Harang with the default makeup).

My question was how do I attach his head but it has been answered. A rather noobie question it was going to be. ^^;; But it has been answered.^___^ Thank you Soul Doll for restringing instructions. It looks like even I could do that. :o Thanks Star for posting that! Also Ferdinand von Weissbrot's pic gave me an idea what his head looks like so was beginning to figure it out, so thanks there too. That metal bar is a neat idea.

    9. yeah! i think the idea of having the strings out from the neck-hole, and attaching via the metal rod was a damn cool idea! i can easily remove his head while changing his eyes, and do not need to wrestle with any s-hooks (which i had a v bad experience with my friend's Paris :( )

well, i hope i will be able to restring him one day, but he was very well-strung when he was sent, hence he can stand very well now and poses neatly! :D

Souldoll sent the head wrapped in bubblewrap and in a plastic tin with a metal cover. and funnily, the cover had a coin-slot on it, doubling up as a transparent saving can. i wonder if Souldoll's message is "Use this to save money for your next doll!" :D

    10. I recently bought a Luts KidDelf sized wig for my Byron (SoulKid Snyder) and it is HUGE. I saw the thread on the DOD wigs also.

What fits and what doesn't? I'm wondering about the CanCan wigs, MSD sized wigs, etc. What have all of you SoulKid owners put on yours besides a Soul Doll Wig.

      THANKS!

    11. Yes, I am curious too. I'd like to get a nice black wig for my Harang before he arrives. Soul Doll doesn't seem to have a black wig at this time for the SoulKids (they have about 4 wigs). :( Anyhow I do know that they take wig sizes 6"-7" or so it says at Soul Doll. Also both Harang's and Snyder's heads measure 18 cm if this helps.

I wanted to buy this nice handmade fur wig I found but it says it fits 71/2" to 8". Maybe that would be better for another doll?

I am not much help here. I hope someone can help. :daisy

    12. Are SoulKids really that tiny? I know that Sharmin and Unoa take 6-7 wigs... Though the past few 6-7 wigs I've bought kept popping off Sharmins head. xO

I hope that you're able to find your answer because buying wigs that are too small is just... disappointing. So, bump!

    13. I am wondering if there is variability in the SoulKid head sizes.....
My Griffi girl got a new Poshdolls bob this weekend, and it's snug, definitely not too big.
But the Posh wigs have elastic, so that helps a lot.
Never had a Kid Delf wig, though, so I can't say.
      :)
      Michelle

    14. Hi, I have Aru and she takes a 7-8. Luts seems to run big on some wigs and small on others. Most 7-8 wigs should fit your soul kid.
      grace

    15. I have a Kid Delf wig which fits my Tiffee perfectly, but it waaay too big for my Snyder. Most DOD wigs seem to fit both of them just fine, especially on Snyder.

I think Snyder, Griffi and Harang may have smaller heads than Tiffee and Sweeni, but I'm not entirely sure yet.

      -F

    16. What is the Souldoll Soulkids exact wig size?

I want to know that in order to know if they can wearwigs from Leeke, Luts or Angelregion! (Especially as I may get an AR wig from shop4dollsandbears.com as well as Luts and/or Leeke in the future).
So do AR 7-8 wigs fit Soulkids?

    17. I'm fairly sure AR's heads tend to run on the larger end of the mini spectrium, but I'm not sure.

    18. I just received my Soulkids Katie yesterday. I love her! I noticed that the plate on the back of her head was numbered. Are all the other Soulkids (Harang, Tiffee, etc.) numbered as well?

    19. My event fullset Griffi girl is number 16, I don't think they numbered the unlimited ones, but I didn't think Katie was limited, so ???????
      :?
I have an older, limpid resin Chase, and he has the plate on his headcap, but no number or name inscribed.

I probably wasn't any help, lol.
      :daisy
      MIchelle

    20. My Sweeney is #21 and I believe my Harang is #33  .

    21. My Harang is number 32!

    22. What is the number on your Katie? I have to agree that i thought only the limited ones had numbers (my Harang is number 6)

    23. My full event set Harang is #23 ^^

    24. my harang is number 2!

    25. 6 and 7 for my Tiffee and Snyder, respectively.

      -F

    26. erm, my Harang is also number 2, but he's the event version

    27. I'd always been a little curious to know if the other Soulkids were numbered; from everyone's answers here, it seems like all of them are?

I've got Tiffee #3, BTW.

    28. Can Soulkids wear a 6/7 wig?

    29. I'd say most likely not, as my DoD can't wear all of them, and I'm fairly sure Soulkids have larger heads.

    30. When I received my Souldoll Katie last month, she was very tightly strung. I was afraid to unstring her because she had a little metal bar in her neck that I had never seen before. :o Plus, her head is really floppy in an annoying way. I connected her head cap just like the instructions said, but it still flopped around.

Last night while fighting with her crazy legs and trying to stretch her out, she sprang forward and hit me square in the nose with her head. OW!!!! I had enough! I took off her head, gently pulled on the tiny bar in her neck (it came out) and unstrung her torso. The different thing about how she was strung was that her 2 legs were each strung separately, instead of one piece of elastic string throughout her entire body. The two cords from her legs were pulled tightly up into her body and connected at the tiny bar. No wonder she was so tight - the elastics in her legs were too small to be pulled so much!

I was afraid to unstring her legs because the ball joints in her feet were glued in a way that it obstructed my access to her hooks. I would have to pop out her ball joints (and hopefully not break them) and reglue them. Nuh uh, no way.

I ended up getting an extra piece of elastic string (they included it) and running it through the 2 loops from the elastic in her legs. I then pulled the string right into her headcap and discarded the little orange piece of string they provided to connect her head. After knotting that, her head was much more stable.

I hope I didn't lose anyone in my description.

I went from ready to put her in the Marketplace to stringing her in a way that I was much more comfortable with. I was afraid to go against the method Souldoll used in stringing her, but if I didn't change it, I would have not been happy with her.

Has anyone had an issue with Soulkids stringing?

    31. Yes, I had a major issue with my harang and stringing him. He had a tendancy to POP...so I did exactly as you did, took an extra piece of elastic and added that to the stringing that was already there.

It was a nightmare. Especially since this was my first re-stringing effort

    32. now my tiffee is here and she DOES have a problem. I can get her to stand but it takes MUCH work. Her legs are all crazy and her legs and head move all by themselves just by touching her. My mom nearly got a heart attack when she touched her to get a closer look at her face when she kicked out with both legs and moved her had to the side. it LOOKED freaky, really scary but I know the problem it her stringing.. I just don't have the guts to restring her but I think I have to.. where do I start? and what is the problem?do I have to resting her compleatly?

    33. I'm having a problem with my Harang's right leg.. It's too tight, so if I straighten the knee, the toes point up, and if I put the toes back down, his knee bends. ;_; Thank you, I will try what you did and maybe I'll have some success...

    34. that is the exact problem that my Tiffee has, but with both legs. I tried the description but I don't know how to unstring her torso.. Since I'm all new to this I have no idea of how to do it and I really need to fix this problem.. I love my Uma but she is kicking me! and i am going to use her in my stop motion animation for school and it's simply impossible if I can't straighten her legs without fighting for minutes..

    35. :( Yeah my Katie is the exact same way, strung too tight and I don't have the strengh to re-string her or even try to. I will keep playing with her, but I don't even know why Soul Doll would string their mini dolls this tight.

    36. I ended up unstringing completely and restringing her from scratch the other night. She's MUCH better. I did it based on a re-stringing tutorial I found somewhere, and not based on how Souldoll strung her. Luciky, Souldoll provided some extra string, so I used one piece of it. I will look for it and see if I can find the tutorial. If you do attempt to restring, do yourself a favor and pick up a pair (or 2) of hemostats. You will need the extra hands.

[edit] here is the tutorial - http://rapture.sephdraven.com/misc/unstrung.html

    37. I really hope yours isn't as bad as mine was. I had her stretched out, bent and contorted, forced to kneel over night, drawn and quartered...... nothing helped. Her head flopped around like a fish, too. It made it very hard for me to enjoy her. I'm so glad that at least it was fixable. I don't know how Souldoll lets these dolls leave their hands strung this way. :|

    38. is there a tutorial or anything showing how to restring the soulkids, I tried doin my girl today and ended up doing sumthing wrong, I did'nt get a good look at how she was strung before i took her torso and legs apart >< so now the knots are up at the top of her neck like a luts doll, help anyone? ^^:;

    39. The way my Soulkid was strung was that there were 2 knotted pieced of elastic in her legs that were pulled up through her body and connected at the tiny bar in her neck. If you wanted to restring her the same way, you'd just have to pull the 2 elastics up as far as the tiny metal bar in her neck and connect there. If the knots are in her neck, disconnect the elastics from the neck and try to rotate them until the knots are closer to the theighs (mid-length, inside the torso).

If kicky legs was your problem, it may be a good idea to cut 2 longer pieces of elastic so there is more slack (and less crazy legs). Otherwise, you could do what I did and just use one big piece of elastic.

I'm thinking about taking her apart and taking some photos, if that might help, since I'm not afraid to pull her apart anymore.

    40. I just restrung my Soulkid Katie--the way I restring my Little Fairs, with one long cord running through the legs and secured at the head--but she's still not standing properly. I swear I strung her with even tension in both legs, but her left leg keeps wanting to buckle. In fact, the knee refuses to lock, period.

D'you think wiring her legs would help? And what gauge wire should I use?

    41. I really couldn't get Beckett (Harang) to stand for the first two months I had him. If I did get him to stand, his knees would buckle immediately. Then, all of a sudden, he could stand really well. Now he can stand for hours. I guess his stringing loosened up..

    42. I have started doing my girls faceup now so I though I'd might aswell take her apart (did the bodyblushing yesturday) and I restrung her! easy when I found out how to do it. I still did it wrong though and went crazy with the string so now her arms are tighter than before and her legs are all floppy cause the strings are to long  have to fix it..

I really need to get this right cause Im doing a stop motion movie with her next year as a school-project. she cant have crazy legs then!

this is her taken apart, all of the little peices lined up ( me trying to look organized)

    43. I have Volks MSDs, AngelRegion Little Fairs, and a SoulKid. They all pretty much fit the same things. The Little Fair are the slimmest of the dolls. Volks and SoulDoll are very close in size.

    44. I love Harang! ^^

Here's my sweet Citan...I did call him Fei, but I liked Citan better.

    45. ;_; I cant get her together right again! this is horrible please help me! I cant understand what I am doing wrong. I have tried to restring her arms now three times are they are crazier than ever! her arms refuse to be straight and keeps bending by themselves and spin around. I cant hold her by the arms anymore becasue they move around as they please. this is happening no matter how loose or tight I string her. I couldnt find the right kind of string but I found one I think works fine.. not a round one but a flat one. all the string that came with her is destroyed since I had to redo her twoce and therefore cut the string. I am so stupid ;_; !!

I hate having her in peices on my dinner table! oh why did I ever restring her in the first place. the first stringing wasnt half as bad as this!!

    46. I have Harang #7

    47. my tiffee is 65. <3

    48. Just a few days ago, I finally bit the bullet and took apart Yui, my Soulkid Tiffee.
She's never been able to stand well, and has always had a horrible tendency to kick. I had some suede material lying around, and I thought, well...it's worth a shot!

About an hour later she stood like a dream.
I also totally changed the way she's strung; it's much, much more manageable now, I think.

Has anyone else tried sueding on Soulkids? It seems to be working quite well for Yui...perhaps this is the solution for kicky Soulkids?

    49. As I'm expecting a soulkid soon - did you happen to put little bits in the sockets or did you do the "cover a whole side" type of thing like in the volks pattern that's on the den somewhere. My harang is coming in peices so I should be brave enough to glue things to him as I haven't had the heart to take my El apart who really needs it.

    50. I have a Soulkid Katie, and she also has this horrendous tendency to buckle when I stand her up. >_< I've been wanting to do the suede-and-wire thing, and I think you've convinced me. Now it's just a matter of getting the material!

    51. I didn't really have a pattern, so I just sort of put pieces in, trying to cover as much of the socket as possible. I'm sure you could use that pattern if you wanted, and shrink it down to the right size...but I did fine without it.

I just used some thin suede material from Hancock's. If you ask someone that works there I'm sure they'll be able to help you find something.

    52. My lovely bf bought me a Katie for x-mess, it's been a busy day and so far I haven't been able to have a really good look at the assembly instructions but I noticed that you have to glue the waist prop to the abdomen.

I've seen a few threads here about stringing Souldolls but that hasn't mentioned specifically.

So, my question is, has anyone actually glued that bit on and if so, what kind of glue did you use?

    53. I got my Harang yesterday, and I did glue that prop to the abdomen as the instructions said.

I used UHU glue and worked perfectly  Be sure not to put too much, though, because it pops out when pressing the prop and it's a bit messy.

Hope that helps! :) And congrats on your new girl! :D

Oh, and it seems that most soulkids have crazy legs, so I suggest you get ready for sueding or wiring  Good luck

    54. I thought it wouldn't be nescessary to glue it, but it fell off all the time when I was trying to put the doll together, so I did it on my two soulkids. don't know quite what kind of glue it was though...

    55. The best glue is two part epoxy superglue. Its very strong.

    56. Really? I was thinking about that but I was worried it might restrict the movement.

Also, if you had to disassemble and re-coat later, do you think there would be any problems since you can't get those bits apart?

    57. I have no idea about katie and the part you are gluing if you are attaching something you know will be permanent like a top leg ball then use the two part if you don't want it to be permanent don't use two part epoxy!

For instance with a top thigh ball you don't ever want it separate from the leg so it won't effect a recoat.

    58. Gah, I can't believe this is happening!

When I opened the box yesterday, one of the bags was split open - the one that must have contained the short rod because it's freaking gone!

I have the long rod, that was inside the head but the short one is missing :(

Would anyone PLEASE be able to measure the short rod exactly (length and width) so that I can cut something else down to size?

      Thank you soooo much.

    59. Phew!

Nevermind, it was in the clippy with the feet so some reason.

      *breathes a sigh of relief*

    60. Soulkids have the same size foot as DoC or MSD. So your shoe options are pretty much limitless. ^_^ (Unlike my Angelregion girls, with their long tootsies...)

Psst: Try luts.com, or dollheart.com, or dreamofdoll.com... They all have lovely mini-sized shoes.
