Hi guys, I'm new on DoA and just wanted to share the love for my Soulkid Ricia, Eunjae. She's in neutral tan skin and painted/outfitted by myself and my sister. She is my favorite amongst my personal collection ^^ PS. I hope I'm posting in the right place, I'm also a newbie to forums lol xD
Ahh thank you so much! I had such a specific vision I worked toward with her and it makes me so happy when others love her as well
She is a lovely doll! I love it when a doll express a good balance between relaxed sweetness and alertness and this doll express that very well. I can see why she is your favourite.
@laquaza Oooh, what a distinguished gentleman! @puppymush Super cute girl! I’m a sucker for bob cuts. Don’t know why more of my own crew don’t have that hairstyle. Welcome to the forum btw! I recently snapped a few photos of my Joelle since I haven’t taken any dolls photos in a while and I also haven’t properly showed off him in his full glory since getting his customizing done. He’s Keigo Takami from the My Hero Academia series. On a Fairyland Minifee A-line boy body with their pegasus wings magnetically attached to his back (which I hotglued magnets to bahah). Wings dyed red by trilliumbox on Instagram and faceup/color matching by Komorebi Dolls. I really need to get him some more of the MNF hand parts. All the ones I have in normal skin are super yellowed (match great with my old 2008 girl, but not so much with anything else lmao).
@Singull Thanks so much for the welcome! I also have such a weakness for bobs! I'll have to try to resist giving all of my dolls bob haircuts from now on haha. Your boy looks amazing!! Love the wings, the pose, everything looks so good! The composition of the photo is lovely as well
I'm trying to obtain a pair of heel feet for my new double soulkid body... am I missing something or are they not available anywhere? Souldoll sells them for the N.L. body but their system is different from the double.
Heel feet are an option on the page where you purchase a full doll or body. If you message them maybe they'd sell them to you separately? They really need to just make them a separate listing.
I thought that, too, but seems like neither full dolls nor bodies offer that right now? I guess I'll message them and investigate, I vaguely remember the options still being possible to choose some time ago.
I just checked and the heel feet option only showed up once I filled in the other options, it's very unintuitive.
It's like that for every Korean doll maker's website I've used so far, just as a heads up. Maybe they use the same platform service, but yeah you can't see the other options until you select an option from every drop down menu before that one.
Solved for now - Souldoll said to pick the N.L. heel feet and state that one is ordering them for the new double body in the shipping message box.
Hello! I've just spent the past few hours ogling photos of beautiful SoulDolls... I think the Millie sculpt is spectacular. I hope they'll offer her again - it looks like she's only been released in 2 limited versions so far, is that right? So hopefully she will someday be a basic doll that can be ordered nude (though I wouldn't complain about a fullset, the first two were amazing!).
You might try emailing Souldoll and telling them you're interested? I've heard of them allowing individuals to order discontinued sculpts before...
Oh really?? Omg yes I will definitely shoot them an email! I guess you never know until you try, right?
I sent SoulDoll a note and they're willing to make a Millie for me!!! *girlish squeals of glee* She will be my 4th 1/4 scale BJD! And my first SoulDoll. I'm curious to see how the body compares to my Minifees! I do know she'll be a little taller.
Congrats! So nice that they'll make her for you! Soulkid bodies are taller and have wider hips so be prepared not to fit her into any minifee pants. The shoes are perfectly interchangeable, though!
Yayy, I'm so happy they're going to make you a Millie, congrats!! Personally I was actually a bit shocked when I pulled my Souldoll girl out of her box. As cobaltconduct mentioned, they're notably taller and the hips quite a bit wider, but I wasn't prepared for the fact that she would just feel bigger period. I actually love it though, because to me, my Souldoll girls feel a bit more mature and realistic than my Minifee girl did (not to mention better posing, in my opinion!). At least they can share shirts and shoes, though.
Haha, I also went from minifee to soulkid and had the same exact reaction - she was so much bigger and sturdier! I think their measurements on the site are a little lowballed because my new double jointed hybrid (I don't believe the non-souldoll head makes *that* much difference) is 46cm tall...
Glad to know it wasn't just me, haha. And I noticed that too about the measurements! I think my Iplehouse boy was 46cm and I was confused to see that my Souldoll girl was a lot closer to his height than my Minifee girl was.
I emailed them in July and asked if they were going to rerelease Ricia any time soon. They said maybe, but that if I wanted her blank, they'd make one special for me! I'm so excited. She'll be my first Souldoll, though my sister @puppymush has hers so I'm familiar with them (and can make clothes ahead of time, hehe). @Aurify - just a side note, I asked Souldoll if they'd be willing to ship unstrung to save on shipping costs, and they said yes. It took my estimate from about $100 to about $42. I don't know if you'd want to string it yourself, but I thought you might want to know.
Wow... hearing these stories of Souldoll being able to make some people out of stock dolls is so amazing! I can't wait to see some of these dolls pop up! I'm still struggling if I should get the new Angel Persephone! I kinda wish they offered her in a different limited skin because I have a ton of their light purple/lavender girls~ Or maybe I just need to be patient and see what's offered in the winter time. Has anyone else purchased her?
@Dybbuk She is gorgeous! It might be worth an ask if they might consider making one for you in another skin tone... seems less likely since it's an event, but they're definitely more open to suggestions.
Angel would be so tempting to get in purple skin if it wasn't for the fact I have Kyron and Devonia on layaway Denverdoll recently became a dealer for Souldoll again, so I put the twins on a nine month layaway. I'm ahead on my payments, but I'd rather pay them off before getting another Souldoll bjd or any other big purchases, lol.
@industrious.jenn : I did ask them if they would make me a Tera Zenith Daydream but we will see if they will allow it! You're right though, it never hurts to ask!!! @Epona Oooh did you get Kyron and Devonia in the fantasy skin? What a lovely pair.
I apologize for the slightly off-topic post, lol, but I just wanted to post an update about the measurement thing – I measured my Soulkid Ricia last night and she does seem to be around 43cm tall (her head is small, in the 6-7 inch range, so this could be partly why). Now I'm wondering if perhaps my Minifee girl was shorter than the measurements? It certainly did not feel like only 2 centimeters of difference between them. Spoiler: Comparison photo I realize it's not the best comparison since the photo was taken slanted, lol, but you can see why I feel like the height difference is more than 2 centimeters...
Could it be that your minifee has a larger head? My doll legend head fits into minifee wigs and measures at around 46cm on the Soulkid bod. Perhaps it also sits higher up on the neck?
Very good point! Don't know why I didn't think of it! My Minifee girl's head is definitely larger than my Soulkid girl. She wears a 7-8 size wig rather than 6-7. And to hybrid her on the Souldoll body, she's using a neck connector which might make her head sit higher. So yes, now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if she's a couple centimeters taller than my Soulkid even though their bodies are the same!
I think Millie will be a sort of older sister for my minifees, but I suppose if the height difference was really odd I could perhaps rebody her onto a MNF body? I wonder if the two companies have similar 'normal' skin tones. I'd definitely like to spend some time getting to know the souldoll body - I haven't yet seen one in person, just a few videos/photos. I did request both the old and new set of hands, and the high heeled feet, so that I could have a bit of variation.
Love the older sister idea! I know it's all a matter of taste, but personally, I don't think the height difference looks odd. It's quite similar to me and my older sister, actually! It's hard to explain, but I think that although the heights are different the scale is still similar. As far as rebodying, I believe I've seen Souldoll/Fairyland hybrids before and the resin looked like it matched okay, but of course any difference might be a lot more extreme in real life than in photos. However I'm very biased in favor of the Soulkid body, so I admit I can't imagine ever going back to Minifee bodies now, haha. Anyways, I hope you enjoy your Souldoll girl as much as I've enjoyed mine!
Does anyone know if SoulDoll can share shoes (either flat or heeled) with Minifees? Their feet are the same length, so in theory they should, but does anyone have both dolls to verify?
Good to know! I have a decent supply of flats/sneakers for the girls. I'll try the heel feet and report back when she arrives in... January? February? lol. Hopefully sooner rather than later!
This might be kind of a dumb question, but what exactly is a 'concept art doll'? Is it just when they're offered in fantasy colours?
So, OF COURSE after I pay full price, SoulDoll now has several in-stock Millies for sale for 15% off... sigh. Good time to grab a bargain if you've been wanting her!
@Aurify : I believe user ederamari on Instagram just received and posted pictures of her Berry.A girl! She was the C.A.D. that was in tan skin with hooves. She's gorgeous! Unfortunately, I don't think any Linzy's have been made/delivered just yet since their order period was fairly recent and it seems Souldoll is running a bit slower on production at the moment.
Ooh, thank you! Berry is such a pretty doll, though I do think her human version is my favourite. Hoping to see some IRL pics of Millie and Linzy soon! Or maybe another version of Linzy during their winter promotion period.
New doll alert! Angeline. She's very pretty and a perfect winter season release! I think I'm still leaning towards a Berry or a Linzy for my next SoulDoll, though. And really, I need to receive my Millie first!
I still didn't get Miksa his proper outfit but at least he's wearing the right colors now. He's so pretty and I really like the Soulkids boy body. I might get another boy at some point.
Based on what I'm seeing in the waiting room, it looks like SoulDoll is only now shipping dolls from the last winter event. Has anyone received a doll released after that time - Caleb, Molly, Mila, Millie, etc? I was under the impression from their website that the wait would be closer to 4 months, as opposed to a full year....
@Aurify I ordered Millie this past April and finished my layaway in July, but still haven't received an email for shipping. I hope it doesn't take a year! That's why I avoided a dealer and ordered direct.
Hmm. I ordered my Millie late, but given that they sold two 'in stock' Millies via Instagram a few weeks ago, you'd think they'd be shipping out people's preorders from April. Maybe at some point I should send them a general email asking about current wait times - I have more dolls I'd like to order from them, but if the current wait times are excessively long I might put off ordering those dolls for the time being. It seems like they release a new doll every month or two, so I really hope they're on the ball!
ahhh he's so lovely! Honestly Souldoll's bodies are the best and worst thing about their dolls to me, at least the older ones. The old ones don't pose well at all, but they're so gorgeous i can't find it in me to care. Do the newer bodies seem to pose any better that you've seen? (also good luck to everyone waiting! Millie's very pretty~)
If you do email them about wait times, I'd love to hear what they say! I'm also planning on ordering a doll from them, possibly during the next event if it's a good one, and I'd like to know what kind of wait I'm in for.
Thank you . I think the new bodies are generally good posers. The boys a lot more so than the girls though! Because at least on my Soulkids girl her thighs are not the same length so she can't stand properly. They might have fixed it by now though. My girl is from 2021. Both bodies move very smoothly which I like. It doesn't feel mechanical at all. I feel like it's their arms are a bit limited in what poses they'll hold. But the poses they hold always look very elegant and pretty.
Ohhh, that's good to know! Looking forward to finding out with my inevitable next Souldoll, haha. Bummer about your girl's thighs though, goodness. That seems like a pretty big oversight. My older boy and girl are also pretty decent in the way they pose-- very smooth, like you said-- they're just also very limited. And the hand positions never really look quite right. But like i said, they're so pretty i don't really care! My instinct is to say my boy is also slightly less limited than my girl, but i haven't really messed with the girl's torso joint, which is the main difference i can think of offhand. I'll have to see what they can do the next time they're out!
@noblescientist - I have no complaints about the new double jointed bodies' posing - it's my favourite body and those legs can do everything! The arms are not as varied but I find them very graceful and nice to handle so I don't really mind. My body is made in 2019 and one of the legs is a little shorter indeed... but it's really only a millimeter's difference and I don't really find it hindering her standing (she stands much better than my other dolls tbh). How much it bothers posing might depend on how old the silicone mould a specific doll is cast from was, things can dislodge a little bit as it wears out and an already shorter limb can become more imbalanced (I think it's quite evident on minifees who also have the leg length issue). In any case I thoroughly recommend the body
I haven't heard directly from anyone at SoulDoll, but I did notice while browsing their site that the time for a nude, basic doll is up to 12 weeks, from 8.... so, yes, they're definitely slower now than they were at this time last year.
Souldoll's wait has definitely increased! But I am happy they have had such successful releases with their dolls. I just got a doll from them yesterday and they were so nice to include a free gift with him~ so even if it's a bit longer, I know I'll get a quality product with them. Although, just to pass along helpful information for anyone who has ordered via layaway... Souldoll told me they no longer begin working on layaway orders until the layaway is paid off (I inquired about my wait after I ordered a Baby Pink fullset). So if you ordered via layaway, you will have to tack on an additional 3-4 months after you finish your last payment.
SoulDoll has announced their winter event discount on Instagram, but no news of any new dolls (at least, not yet).
