Anyone see the new Zenith released? Nolan: Nolan
He's very handsome~ Wondering if they will release a fantasy version of him this winter, or if we are just getting this CAD release only~ Of course, he has to be limited

 

I'm quite excited about the renewal of the zenith bodies - especially the girl one - I have some of theirs floating heads just waiting for the perfect body.

Can't wait to see what it will look like!
I would be fine with proportions and most of the sculpt being as is, but I REALLY want the return of the old style, lower bust joint torso that worked so well in the old double body... they used it in the newest kid and vito bodies so hopefully this is something they might consider...
Other than that also - elbow joints that can swivel to the sides, but the torso update is like my priority.

What I hope doesn't change - overall body proportions, like in shoulders/hips etc. I have some souldoll dresses that I still want to have use for in new bodies.
Also current hands and legs are very cool and they should stay haha

@Dybbuk I was also wondering if we will get fantasy version of him like we got with Caleb but with the body renewal probably not... or not YET!

 

While I don't plan on updating the bodies I currently have I'm still very interested in how they'll update the zenith girls. Aesthetically I like the current bodies but they're not the best posers. If they were a bit more like the kids girls I'd be satisfied. Smaller feet that you can actually find shoes for would also be nice.

 

I'm curious to see what they do with the Vito boys. I don't have plans for more right now, but I also didn't plan on buying 5 dolls this year yet here we are. I regret nothing.

I wish they'd consider bringing back the Double line. I have 2 (2nd hand) and really like the aesthetic of them a lot. To be fair, I really like SD a lot but let's not split hairs here.

 

Me too! I loved their Double line dolls and felt crushed when they discontinued them.

 

Currently I have 3 Vitos, a Souloid, 2 Double boys and a Kid head on a DV body (yea free head event!). I'd love to see them do more fantasy boys as it seems like it's always the girls getting that treatment *pouts*.

 

I did end up purchasing Nolan (and a Zenith Kai head) on a layaway; I wasn't sure if either would make a return from their limited status. Although, I am excited about the body updates as well! I really hope they improve pose-ability of the Zenith girl body especially... I had one briefly, and while she was very gorgeous, she was like a statue. @Iron_Dog - Agree! Wish the boys would get some more fantasy CAD sets...I really liked what they did with Caleb, would love to see more Vito boys and Kid boys getting the CAD treatment. Would LOVE some merman to go with the mermaids they did earlier this year!

Speaking of old Double boys~ I bought this Osu off the MP a while back. Osu was one of my early doll wants - and I'm happy he finally joined the family! I miss the double line as well -- It's prompted me to go back and retroactively collect some of their older sculpts... which are tough to find now.

The Double boys are a bit difficult to find 2nd hand. I assume that's because the people who do have them don't want to pass them along because they are so nice.

 

@Iron_Dog - Thanks so much! And yes... coupled with the fact that some sculpts didn't have a ton of owners to begin with. There are a few obscure doubles that I only remember seeing 1-2 owner pics on DoA. But I'm keeping my eyes peeled! Wanting to find a Double Star at some point~

WOW I'm so glad I put my order for Nolan in early... I was thinking of waiting closer to the 31st to order him... but now his page says "Sold Out" even though his CAD period said it would close on the 31st.

 

I'd wanted a Juhl for a long time but he rarely seemed to pop 2nd hand. Then one did and I pounced on him. He came to me blank and I was lucky enough to have Jade Garden paint him for me (they're no longer taking commissions ). He is Ji-Sun, God of Carnal Desire, Love & Fertility. It doesn't show well in this photo but there is a subtle heart on his lips. The stone at the base of his throat is malachite that I had my jeweller cut for me. The stone is the god-mark from his husband, Malachite (God of Crystals & Stone). Their other husband is Qayin, a Chimeric Demon. I need to take a good picture of them together. It's on my To-Do List.

@Astro : Your boys look PHENOMENAL! I absolutely adore their faceups! They made them both so smoldering It inspires to finally work on my poor LJK~ So sorry to hear you are still having a hard time finding bodies/hands. The 60-62cm range is so hard to find for males these days... I feel most companies start their SD lines at 65cm and up now. I'm not sure what is compatible for them anymore, I think Fairyland might work proportionally with their slimness... but the resin match is probably going to be way off though -_- ;

@Iron_Dog : Your Juhl is so lovely! I really like his sculpt as well~ but I haven't seen many of his kind around! Congrats on such a rare beauty. The gemstone in his neck is a very unique touch!

 

It took me many years to bring Star home and then it was only the head but that's what matters the most! Love that sculpt and am still overjoyed that I was able to find one. Finding Double line dolls in the marketplace always catches my eye.

 

@Astro : Yes the toughest part about them is the head size and making sure the proportions are right! I'll try to keep my eyes peeled for anything I see. Your boys would look very dreamy on a more fitting body!

@Mu Shu : Aaaah! Congrats! I haven't seen a Star go on sale in quite some time. I know she's gotta be pretty rare. But I'm not giving up hope! I check DoA, eBay, Mandarake, Dollyteria, Y!J, and Mercari pretty regularly for Souldoll's and it's been fruitful! I found Osu, Soohyun, Ize and Lee Jun Ki over the past year and half. Hoping to find my Star soon! Did you ever get your Star put together??

 

Yalaren is my Ize. I got him 2nd hand and his former owner said he had a bit of an eye opening mod. The tattoo work on his throat and chest is also over his back and both his forearms are done in the same style as well.

Does anyone here have a good eye size rec for the Liv Elegance ver? Souldoll claims they do 16mm but I prefer going a little smaller to avoid having giant swaths of irises

 

I don't own any SoulDolls from this decade, but if you measure the eye shape going with which ever part is tallest or widest. You'll get the smallest size you'll need for the particular eye opening not to show any gaps. Then you can look for eyes that size, or a MM or two bigger, with smaller irises. Hope that helps you. I have two zenith girls, one has 14/6mm eyes which I think are just right and one has 14/7mm which aren't bad either.

 

My Karin has 14/5s, I had her in 14/6s, but since her eyes are half closed, the smaller iris works better.

 

That's all super helpful to me too one last question, what resin matches the new white well? I really enjoy my head's resin shade

 

Hello! I'm waiting for my Caleb head to arrive soon and now I'm facing the big dilemma: which companies match with Souldoll normal?

 

Great choice - Caleb looks great!
Souldoll Normal skin is on the pink side, so if you see a company offering both yellow and pink normal, getting the pink one is safer bet.

If you think about getting a body from Luts, their normal is too yellow, but the peach (obitsu white) is pretty close (I would say 90%+ match)

About specific body I can't advise because I don't have any Souldoll zenith guys, so can't compare the size. Or.. you can wait and see first what new Zenith body Souldoll will come up first (this is what I do with my stash of Zenith girl heads haha)

 

Does anyone have any information on when the new Zenith bodies will be released?

I also heard somewhere that they’re taking a really long time to fulfill current orders. Is it worth it to order a kid body from them right now?

 

@BirdieBurrito : There haven't been any updates from Souldoll on their timeline for the new Zenith or Vito bodies.

Right now I'll hit a year waiting for my Zenith Nolan this month and I doubt I'll get shipment until maybe spring of next year. They are super behind right now and I'm not sure what their action plan is to get orders out... if it were me, I'd wait until I saw consistent delivery of product before ordering from them right now. Unless you're OK waiting a year+.

 

Oh wow. Do we know why their production is taking so long right now?

 

They seem to be pretty random in their production, my SD head took a few months, whereas most souldoll kid orders with the purple resin plus zenith orders are taking forever so uh basically no.

 

@BirdieBurrito : This information is per Souldoll and their replies to customer inquiries. They told us they started to have delays after their faceup artist became ill. This was around December of last year when they announced the pending discontinuation of the Zenith/Vito dolls and also closed all makeup orders. Then when we got into spring of 2024 many of us started to become worried because communication on their Q&A board became very sparse. My Souldoll Vito Aspyn (who I ordered in July of 2023) finally arrived to me in July of 2024 around ~1 year of waiting. I purchased my Nolan in December of 2023 and asked them what the delays in production were. They finally responded after many weeks and said their main manager of Souldoll had complications after having Covid. They reassured us that they would be getting back to full production around this time (December 2024). A few dolls have made their way home, but as I said before they're very behind with almost a year's worth of orders still outstanding.

I'm hoping they can get back on their feet and begin production again - but knowing what I know now I haven't purchased anything else from them until I get my last order fulfilled and they seem to be on a regular schedule.

 

Thank you for the update, that's good to know. I guess I won't be ordering from them until they've caught up on their orders then. It's a shame they had so many things happen that essentially halted production. Hopefully they're right on their prediction and are able to resume full production by this month. I adore their bodies and have so many hybrid plans.

 

@BirdieBurrito : I totally feel you!! I am hoping they get themselves into a rhythm again because I love their dolls. Hopefully it's starting to turn around, but it's definitely been a rollercoaster for them and their customers!

 

Ohh! Good to see other souldoll lovers! I managed to snag the last run of Chiron Human version in Grey before they discontinued him, then moved shortly after he arrived. Poor boy’s been in a box unpainted and unclothed since that day as i fell out of the hobby.

I wish most of the zenith line hadn’t gotten the axe.

 

@MermaidMizuko : I hope you get a chance to take out your Chiron and revitalize him~ He's a gorgeous mold. There was a gray skin Chiron on Ebay not too long ago that I was eyeballing but I hesitated and he was snatched up Which probably was for the best~

Sadly, Souldoll often goes through these periods of complete obliteration of their current bodies and sculpts - and then creates something new. Which, I do love they are always changing things up, but I wish they'd leave their old sales pages up for reference and posterity.

I am trying to find some display space for my Tera Zeniths (so they don't live in their boxes) -- these guys are so gorgeous together, but overwhelmingly huge

I've eyed these guys for as long as they were released, but personally never went bigger than my Zenith Roul. Who I love dearly. In case he sees this.

They are really huge guys... I definitely think they are my limit for the size of doll I'll own though~ Zenith is definitely my preferred doll height. Would love to see your Roul I'm sure he is just as hunky! Hehe

 

I have two, 72cm boys (not SD) and I don't want to go any bigger than that. They weren't intentional either as I never intended to go bigger than 70cm (I have several of them). But sometimes the Dolly Gods gift you with things that you can't refuse, right?

@Iron_Dog : hehehe yes you can't refuse!!! And I was the same way. I didn't really want to exceed 70cm dolls, but the Tera Zenith sculpts were just too handsome to resist. Unfortunately, by the time I really wanted one they were all sold out so I had to find all of mine 2nd hand (except my Daydream) - so you're right, you can't refuse the Dolly Gods when the opportunity arises!

@Mandagore : SO HANDSOME! His sculpt is very reminiscent of my Henry (especially the mouth) ~ I think he was created by the same sculptor. What a great guy! Thank you for sharing him.

 

@Dybbuk I was fortunate enough that none of the Tera Zenith boys screamed about being any of my characters, so dodged a big, heavy resin bullet there.

On the weight, oh my aching arms, yes! One of my 72cm boys is a Sugarable Genie head on an AngellsDoll massive body (and boy is it massive in weight). The other is a Miracle Doll 108cm Snake Demon head on an Spirit Doll Phoenix body. He's a bit lighter than his partner but the claws on his raptor feet should be registered as a deadly weapon. He's accidentally scratched me pretty good with them a time or two (mostly while re-stringing).

I've also had the pleasure of hefting one of the SD Chiron centaurs (a friend has 2 of them) and holy moley, those boys are heavy AF. Like you could potentially put your back out lifting one of them.

@nancy_schroeder_ca I traded a friend of mine for the complete hybrid doll after she bought a lot of dolls from the estate of a friend that passed. The funny thing was that I'd tried to buy a full Sugarable Genie from the MP here about 6 months before but the sale poster never came back to DoA. And then my friend get him in the bunch she bought and.... Obviously the Dolly Gods wanted me to have him, lol.

 

I was never fond of the Sugarble body but the heads are great! The Dolly Gods may have been better than you realized!

 

Thank you for your kind words Oh dear yes, I do miss the Souldoll sculptor/s who made all those gorgeous, really quirky and unique molds that have been so typically Souldoll. I feel that niche has largely disappeared from the world of BJD since - although I do understand the need to be commercially successful, ofc, and there are still some artists out there who dare to be different

 

Quirky/unusual/weird is my jam. I have a lot of dolls that fit that bill and if there's something markedly different about a doll, I'm probably going to be strongly attracted to it. Extra limbs? Yes please. Extra eyes? I'll take one of those. Something off the beaten path of standard pretty doll? Where do I sign up?

I have a Vito Azreal skullhead and I adore how not standard beautiful his head is. I've also got a Souloid and I love how detailed and not normal his cyborg body is. I would straight up be over the moon if I was able to get my hot little hands on their big Souloid, Kowalski (long discontinued *sigh* and very rarely seen in the wild). But at the time of his release there was no way possible for me to afford him even as just a blank doll (I've nicknamed him Mortgage Boy because after the cost of the doll, shipping, potential Customs fees and the hideous exchange rate of $US/$CAN, he'd be basically a substantial mortgage payment of around $2,500-$3,000CAD).

OT for this thread, I also love the RD Baldwin sculpt although his size is larger than I want to own *sigh* and I'd love to be able to add a MD Jing sculpt to my collection. There's also a sculpt (who's company/name I completely forget and can't find the document I wrote it down in) what has multiple eyes over one side of their face. I've always loved the DC drider concept although I'd need to have her modded to a him.

*sigh* So many weird and wonderful dolls that I'd love to own if I only had unlimited access to money.

Although you've taken it considerably further than me. But I like face molds that other people sometimes consider as off, unattractive or flawed. They're just beautiful to me^^

@nancy_schroeder_ca Def send off your skullhead to be painted. I was fortunate enough to have Jade Garden paint my boy before she stopped taking commissions and I love what she did with him.

 

@Mandagore : 10000% agree! A lot of early Souldoll molds and outfits were so unusual but had such a flair about them. I've spent the last 5 years or so tracking down a lot of Souldoll oldies because I didn't take advantage when they were available. I wish Souldoll left sales pages up... like if you hadn't posted your Roul I would have forgotten his sculpt!

I was fortunate enough to be able to get his head 2nd hand here on DoA several years ago. I then got his body a few years after than (another 2nd hand purchase). The majority of my SD boys have been 2nd hand. I have only bought 3 new from SD: Eilam (Vito Rail), Belial (Vito Berial) and Warrick (Souloid Phiel Gold Mechanic although he's actually using the Titika head I got for free at the same time). Possibly Kheima (Phiel head on DV 3-arm body) counts as a 3rd bought new since both his head and body were bought new?

SD had some really nice sculpts that I was sad to see go. I really wish they'd think about bringing back the Double line. I have 2 Doubles and I think they're wonderful.

Sadly it seems like so many companies have abandoned their 55-60cm line dolls. So many companies upgraded to 65cm+ bodies and larger that you really don't see many smaller SD releases these days. I do wish Souldoll would revamp their "double" line - I loved their slim frame and svelte body. You don't really see boys that aren't ultra six-pack anymore either. Which, I own my share of those bodies too, but variety is the spice of life!

More doll tax ~ Souldoll Double Nia - I don't have him anymore... though if he popped up for sale again I would be tempted to re-buy him. Also a gorgeous Souldoll outfit from long ago~

 

It seems like a lot of companies have gone to the much taller sizes. I've seen a lot of really cool dolls released that are what I feel is too big for me (75cm, 80cm, etc.). I'm disappointed but my wallet is thrilled since that knocks those dolls out of the running for coming home.

I also loved Morse but couldn't keep him. Since Souldoll is not doing well right now I somehow doubt they will ever bring the line back... sad

 

I hope SD can pull themselves up from the trouble they've been having and get back into the groove of making beautiful dolls.

I also prefer the smaller SD. I got it second hand Souldoll Morse (WS blushed by me). I gave him the body of Spiritdoll Grace (NS) - not so bad I guess...

@Mu Shu : What a blast from the past... I loved when Souldoll had their "Fantasy" line of dolls. I wish they still did special LE fullsets like this... I mean... I'd be sad when I couldn't get one but they were so fun to admire. If I remember, that was the first Suntan Hye right?
