Soom Teenie Gem and Monthly Doll Discussion Part 14

Long time no see! I have a Syen from when the little gargoyles were released but haven't made much time for him in a while. Soom really caught my eye with their Halloween release thou so I had to drop in!

I'm very tempted in two parts- to get the little Dracula outfit (just darling) and to get a WS Trachy head- tiny teef! I am trying to limit my collection these days, but I think my syen and a trachy could share a body.

Haha that's cool how you guys have started analyzing the release patterns for the FCE events.

 

The little Trachy vampire is soo adorable! I'm super tempted to bring that cutie home, but I should prob be saving up for the FCE!

 

I'm tempted by the tiny vampire outfit as well - reminds me of the fullset Gluino clothes but in the Tiny format, it's adorable

 

I'm unsure if this has been asked before...but is there much difference between Beyla hooves and Aloa (winter wood elf) ones?

I asked Soom about an approximate date for the upcoming TG FCE and they told me it would be on the 21st! No month given but I assume it'll be November. The sales notice is supposed to be posted on the 14th.

...time to save up money for the event and let's see if Soom got some pleasant surprised colour- and doll-wise for us in stock!

Hello!

I'm not trying to start any drama or create a controversial topic here, however I was wondering if there is anyone I can go to, or anywhere where I can share some pictures of my Soom Dolomi/Glot hybrid to make sure she's not a recast? ;___; I've been researching for hours but I can't find any good photos of the insides of a Dolomi's head or body, recast or legit, in order to compare mine to.

I'm fairly certain she's a legit (lord I hope so) based on price paid, circumstances she was bought under, etc, but I would really like some second opinions just to be on the safe side.;;;; Thanks :c

I think you could try using Ask the Moderators forum and ask them there.

 

I had a doll that I bought here in DOA that I had some suspicions about. I actually took some pictures and asked Soom directly. They were very nice about it and to my relief they confirmed she was legit. Do you have the COA? That might help as well. Try putting it into Sooms website.

 

Oh wow, I didn't know you could contact Soom about it. She didn't have her CoA, she was bought directly at a meetup, but she did come with a Soom outfit (though it's not from Glot or Dolomi) and a Soom pillow case. I can't remember if the girl said she had lost the coa in a move or something, but she was leaving the hobby to raise a family instead.

What did you take pictures of to send soom? The inside of the headcap, etc? o:

 

The head cap was my main concern because of its roughness. I sent that and her eye wells which were rough. I think I included a full body shot as well. Mine did have a COA so they may have made there decision off of that. Hope they can help you.

 

Okay, thank you so much! So then I assume the slight roughness insuide the headcap and eyewells is normal then? I mean I know yosds are pretty small so it might be hard to get in there and smooth it out... I was mostly alarmed when I received my Iplehouse SID and saw how perfectly smooth he was in comparison, along with my Fairyline Sia, since this Dolomi/Glot was my first "expensive" bjd before I got the other two. @__@

 

I have quite a few teenies and most of them are really smooth and not rough at all. That's why I was worried. Sorry I can't ease your fears completely but in my case they confirmed she was real.

When did you pay her off? Soom quoted me end of December for shipping mine, but then again I used layaway.

And I asked again; the TG FCE will start in the 3rd week of December! Seems like I thought of the wrong month when they told me "notice on the 14th, orders open on the 21st" last time.

I paid in full (just used my Paypal credit as "layaway" instead). And my girl is blank, so no hold up for painting... plus no outfit, just some regular Soom eyes and face protectors and bloomers. ^_^

Still can't believe there's a TG FCE coming up!! >.> I don't know if I can afford to participate... but we'll see which sculpts are offered and if I can swing it because it's almost Christmas (and I should have some Christmas coming from my parents & grandma).

 

So... TG FCE is coming in December??? I'm not ready x)

I've just received my first soom teenie gem, Lilid (just her head). I love her.

Does anyone know what size wig would be best for her? And has any suggestions for good places to buy?

I have one wig that's 6-7 and it's too big for her, not sure if that wig just happens to be a big 6-7. And I'm having trouble finding any that are 6.5. Any help is appreciated

 

Their heads do tend to be on the smaller side. I've found that Monique wigs in 6/7 are a really good fit.

 

Seconding the suggestion for the Monique wigs in 6-7.
Also, if you can get one of these rubber bands they use to label organic and put it around the head, it helps to keep slightly too large wig on. I have one for each of my TGs that use fur wigs.
(Sorry the photo is a bit big. It was used as a faceup reference photo for when I sent my Skoll out for customizing.)

@Loganberry, 6-7 tends to be the size for Teenie Gems. Although some 6-7 wigs are closer to the 7 side and some are closer to the 6 side. So it might just be bad luck.

I've always had pretty good luck with LeekeWorld wigs (which I tend to buy through Denver Doll Emporium to save on shipping... although a group order is also an option). My Lilid wears a LeekeWorld wig that I got through a group order.

I had a look at monique and leekeworld but I'm in the UK and shipping is so expensive and then I'd have to pay custom charges on top of it!

I've found a dollzone wig in stock in the UK on angelesque. The doll it's on head circumference is 16.5, it's advertised as 6-7 so hopefully it's on the smaller side.

 

You'll want to get a body from dolls that came at the same time as, or after, the first Rru/Lilid release. That was the first time that I know for sure that Soom's cream white resin changed to be much whiter.
Aww, that's a bummer.... If the dollzone wig doesn't work out (I hope it does!), you might be able to find a UK based group order where everyone splits the customs fee, so it's less.

Speaking of bodies... I still technically need one for my human Beyla. That's gonna be tough though.. since I'm gonna have to try to find a body from the 2009 releases so it will be a better match. >.<

In other news... my Rico Jr girl is on the way to my town from Springfield, MO! It's just too bad she didn't leave just a little bit earlier... she would have been here today! >.< Looks like I have to wait until Monday (and possibly Tuesday because of work). So close!! But still so far away. :P

 

I'm actually planning on getting impldoll aimee and putting lilid on that body. That body has cat paws and I've read that impldoll is a good resin match and size ect for soom teenies. I'm not too bothered about the resin being an exact match.

The wig will really only be tempory as I'm planning to save up for one from amadiz studio but who knows how long that will take!

The last few days of a wait are always the hardest! I hope you get her soon

My Pyrol wears a 6-7" wig, but I keep it tight using a braided headband. In the past, he wore a 6-6.5" Leekeworld wig that fit perfectly. Only problem is it also stained his head...

Oh, and I only just now realized, one side is silver and the other is black! So cool!

And good eye! Yes, one side is black and the other is silver. Those are his signature colors, I suppose. I'm working on his accessories atm... I bought him some tools and plan to paint them silver and black, too.

Her name is Aria. She's quite lovely! Sorry that the lighting is so yellow in the photo. I wanted to take photos in natural lighting, but because of my work schedule that was impossible... so this lighting had to do. I'll take better photos this weekend when I can do so during the day!

If I don't slack off (or get stuck at work during my break tomorrow), I should have the box opening photos done tomorrow evening. I hope!

@AirimirOfGondor, it's actually not black. It's a really gorgeous dark blue that didn't show up in the photo because of how awful the lighting is. (Plus this photo is from FB messenger and isn't a good quality photo to begin with)

It's got this pearlescent sheen and it's really gorgeous! I look forward to sharing more photos tomorrow!!
