Woah, looks great! I can't hardly see any of the scars on the face. Although I don't know if it's because of the pictures noise or if the airbrush itself make the resin feels like it's rought with bumps? Is it solved with sanding?
hi the head looks good(awsome work so far) but the spray paint is a bit thick update ....read right now you want to work on the paint anyway
The texture in the pictures is partly my camera and partly just the texture that airbrushing gives the head. I'm going to seal her with several coats of Minwax spray to keep her from chipping and then a couple coats of Testors so she can be faceupped. I can't really help the thickness of the airbrushing since if I thinned the paint any more it wouldn't spray well.
You already know how much I already love this little one. But I'm glad to finally see bigger, non-cellphone sent pics of her and she is looking adorable. Her eyes really do look a lot like Appini's, but shaped kind of like Fairyland Littlefee Ante's. It's looking great.
I'm glad everyone likes what I've done with her! I posted pics of her in another doll forum and the general consensus seems to be that she looks a bit weird without eyelids. It personally doesn't bother me at all so I probably won't mess with her eyes any more. I have a couple other dolls without eyelids and with good faceups you can hardly tell. I think it would be easy to just paint little lines over her eyes so she looks like she has eyelids. PenguinCheese will be doing her faceup so I'm sure she'll make her look fantastic.
Wow what a great job so far! I cant believe how talented you are to manage to restore this doll. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Ooh! I was just thinking she could easily be given pseudo-eyelids via the faceup. And then I saw your post that PenguinCheese is going to do her faceup -- thus I'm positive she's going to be terrific. I think she's adorable. (I thought she was adorable before, too, but even moreso now). Her eyes make me think of a Delf Ani for some reason, and that is a Very Good Thing Indeed. I agree 100% with your thoughts about one more sanding on the lips and one more quick airbrushing. -- Isn't it wonderful to adopt preloved resins and make them all spiffy again? I've taken on a number of really REALLY grubby and unwanted dolls and made them as good as I could get them - I'm still nowhere near your level of goodness on the repair work but still, it's such a great feeling to have a project doll come out so well! Congrats!
i love the big eyes, I think she looks super cute. The lack of sculpted eyelids doesn't both me either, usually once you get the eyeliner on there you can't really tell the difference anyways. Good job!
That's a big job you have! You will have so much fun though. Wish you the best of luck and cannot wait to see the end results.
oh my! she's looking gorgeous already. those huge eyes remind me of some kind of small creature attempting to catch you off guard with their sweetness and then pull something unexpected. great job!
I admit I liked her better before being painted, but its just the texture of the paint that's putting me off. The rest of your restoration is wonderful. Great job!
Haha painting just one half of a doll, woah! I never considered that as an option for my future dolls, never, but I have to say, the mod that she used to have in her ear was so COOL! but she is fine right now, you did a very great job so far. I really want to see that cutie finished
