Thanks, safir! On the clothing page, I scrolled down so fast, I missed that very last line! Figured it was him since they cross-referenced his sale page. (That was a lovely outfit too!)

Does the current regular supergem body still have the extra hip-line joint in the torso that it used to have? It looks like they meant one photo in the comparison page to be the regular body, but it's the same head, with just the white ribbon covering up the area of the thigh joint. Economy of effort vs actually showing a regular body?

I'm asking in case of the next full-choice event! But can't imagine the Crow head would show up there anyway, since he wasn't offered with any human ears/hands/feet. Have they included funky-eared (as opposed to "classic" elf/animal eared heads) sculpts in the events before? He's a very appealing sculpt--

Reading the comparison page (didn't think to look at the Gallery section, :duh - ), it mentions faceplates - are the new SG sculpts all faceplates now? They mentioned also changing the hands for easier changing out - does that mean magnetic (has post-FL MNF hand-loss trauma shiver--)

Yes...both my Wolf and Puss have faceplates.
I actually really like the magnetic hands because it just makes changing clothes so much easier.

I'm new here... I'm debating between ordering R. Amber or not. I just saw Soom removed one of the photos of the doll without wig. I wonder why? Fortunately I saved a screenshot of that because I wanted to change some features of Amber in Photoshop. As the majority of the people, I was in love with R. Amber when I saw the first two pictures... but when I saw it without wig my love vanished.

 

I know I really love the way R. Amber looks with wig on, but I don't think I can swing another Soom male. My Quartz would be so jealous.

 

Wow. I dunno if I want to pass this Amber up. I'm such a sucker for pretty boys in grey skin. D8

 

I really like this new Amber. I'm always a sucker for a romantic head, especially a Soom one. But.. have I missed something, or is the Amber priced really high? It seems like the price has also increased since it was released. I've been out of the Soom loop for a few months, so I wasn't sure if I missed the memo.

 

Has the price gone up? I thought Jack was expensive, but I thought it was because it's my first fantasy body and the options I chose.

 

Price is still the same like it was the first day Amber show up for sale. But is higher than human versions because he comes with fantasy hands and feet.

Crow had a fantasy body and fantasy ears so he can show up in FCE, since they offer only fantasy versions of the dolls there.

I love Soom dolls. Noob question - but is the soom male dia still available? or was it like a limited edition?

 

Viivi in the past they have let people assemble their own, (ask on the Q and A) I think the skin color was the limited part of the male Dia last time, and maybe the eye shape. Otherwise I think they are available.

Definitely Breccia's sister. I'm making an educated guess that Soom got a lot of interesting requests out of that survey. Someone must have wanted a big kitty girl.

 

I ask them on that survey to re-release Vesuvia, no matter human or fantasy body. Wondering if that dream will come true...

It's a good thing for my wallet that her face and ears aren't quite my thing (if they'd done a more Breccia-like face, I would have been sunk!), but I *love* her body.

Wonder if they'll do "brown tan" in an FCE at some point? My Ignim could use a body like this!

I'm once again glad that Soom's latest monthly doll is nothing I am interested in. With the upcoming Little Gem free choice event I would be in trouble if they chose to release a Super Gem that I like too!

 

Glad I am not into WS dolls, so I am safe from this big kitty. Wish her outfit was not so expensive....

 

I love kitties, so I'm pretty bummed she's not my cup of tea.

I dream of a gray Beryl on the new human body.

 

The new MD is interesting, but she's not a must have for me. Her outfit is really pretty though. I think it would have be nice if they offered her in a couple different skin tones.

 

Actually the Soom prices have gone up and there are less items included.

I thought she looked like Breccia too.

 

Even if there are less items, I like that they're offering a choice between a human body and a fantasy one. I hate getting stuck with human parts that I'll never use.

Now if they could see clear to do a kitty boy later on instead of a kitty girl, maybe they'll get my attention. I don't need a big girl at the moment.

 

On the other hand, only offering 'human' or 'fantasy' versions means people can't do splits where someone gets a full human doll and someone else gets just the fantasy parts

Oh well, if I'm calculating things right, this new girl should be in the same FCE as Snow White and maybe Red Riding hood, so I might just wait until then and get a cat girl with a head I actually like...

 

Personally, I prefer buy fantasy part AND human part... I have a «The Crow» and I change his legs/claws depending on my mood. And I agree with Sharnofshade, with only one version, split is not possible... And this, it is not very good...

 

I agree, I like having the option for both human and fantasy parts as well.

 

I don't think customers who want to split out parts would be a priority for Soom. They are probably more concerned with keeping prices reasonable so as to not lose potential customers who balk at price increases. This may be the only way to handle it.

If you like both sets of parts, you could always ask. They add extra bodies and more resin colours because someone asks about it. Why not ask about both sets of parts as an option if you are serious about wanting to buy the doll that way?

 

My most recent experience with Soom's Q&A was asking them a question about a current doll, having them give me a direct answer, buying the doll and making the first payment, then finding out through another member posting on DoA that Soom's answer to me was incorrect, and now I'm stuck paying off a $500 doll I'm going to be unhappy with because the alternative is losing out on their 'restocking fee' and basically flushing money down the drain. Despite everything being their mistake, Soom are completely unwilling to do anything about it and basically just said 'tough luck' when I complained. So excuse me if I would prefer to vent in this thread about how I am disappointed in Soom's choices with this doll rather than post on their Q&A again

Also, it is incredibly rare that Soom changes anything about their sales - they certainly weren't willing to change anything about the doll I purchased, even though all I wanted was one type of default face-up instead of another!

 

The new kitty girl is cute.. but luckily she doesn't make me run off to their store and push the buy it now button plus I have a few layaways already elsewhere lol...I kinda like the big paws on Epidia vs the small paws on this version it does definitely remind me off Breccia which I was tempted to get a few times. I like the separate option of human or fantasy but think it would cool to be able to choose both for those that want them. I have a Puss in Boots that I'm glad I was able to find , just wish he would have been available with fantasy legs.

 

Wow, her fantasy feet look like a mashup between Breccia and The Fox's. They're jointed like Breccia's, with the joint in the ankle (above the dewclaw) instead of in the toes like Fox's, but they have four toes like Fox's. But the actual claws are shorter and more rounded than either, and the fur sculpting style seems somewhere in between - larger sections of fur like Fox but carved less deeply like Breccia.

Also the long-nailed hands look like they've gained back the definition of the nail and nail bed that Breccia had and Fox didn't. I was actually a little disappointed at the long-nailed hands that came with Fox (slightly blurry but still obvious in these photos)

She's really cute, and I adore kitty dolls as much as I adore fox dolls, but luckily I'm not Soom'd (by her at least... R. Amber is another story...). And I love her outfit, but I do not love it $200 worth, so...bullet dodged for my wallet?

 

I'm really getting into my Super Gem's again. My interest had wained a bit but I am finding myself wanting another one. Particularly Snow White, but that will obviously take some waiting for a lottery or Free Choice event. An oldie, but a goodie of my Amber:

Oh wow... I think I just fell in love with that Romantic Breccia ;___; I really hope that I won't like her as much when I see the rest of the photos, but this is looking very dangerous for me...

I hope they offer the horns separately like they have been doing. More horns are always a good thing!

She seems to be in grey skin from the teaser picture, so it is safe it say she will be in that color. Since Soom has increased their prices I am safe from grey skin dolls and white skin dolls from them.

 

Wow she looks beautiful. Love the horns as well.

 

I imagine I'm in the minority, but I wish Soom would do more basic - human - releases of their pretty girls, or even a FCE of some sort for human bodies in the whole rainbow of colors they offer. Seriously, think of human Amber in that pretty snow blue (Jötnar!!), or a human Vesuvia in light green (Poison Ivy FTW!!!) I can't be the only person who desperately wants this? Right, right???

 

Shhh Girrl if they did that Soom might as well put a hose into my bank account and suck up all the monies. I need a lavender human body big time. And a human amber in Blue, and yes, Poison Ivy

I think she's white on that promo pic, but with photoshop. Although I'm pretty sure gray skin will be an option - lots of recent dolls had gray skin because it's nice color, it's popular, and of course it's expensive, so better for them :P

 

I haven't been a fan of the fangs ): but I do love that they have been offering the horns for purchase separately

Woah the new Breccia looks awesome! Thankfully I almost exclusively collect males so I won't be getting her. Can't wait to admire her pictures though I don't think they've released the pictures of her legs yet.

 

This Breccia is so distressing I can't get over it. lol. Seriously, I've long dreamed of a romantic head for my own Breccia and this preview looks more gorgeous than I could have ever imagined. My soul, she's definitely stolen it (and smashed it to pieces...). But I don't have anywhere near the money for a full doll, so I'm so FRUSTRATED. DISTRESSED. Soom why this why now why Q_Q

If she's in any tan skintone I might just swallow my shame and try asking for her for a birthday gift even though I have no idea if that'll fly or not. I can still try right. sobs.... (distress, SO much distress)

I got a doll on supergem old type male body and it has double elbow joint of the bean type. It is one-piece part, I mean, jointless. But I saw some supergem bodies having a movable elbow bean joint.
Does soom has two old supergem body constructions?

Can someone with more experience with the new male supergem body give me some advice?

I am attempting for the third time to restring my boy because his knees will not stay locked and he won't stand. He's on the extra type body and I've been trying to get the knot in the thigh piece after glancing through a few other posts on the matter. I got one knee to lock, but now the other won't, and he keeps pitching forward at the hip. It's driving me nuts that I can't get him to stand. Dx; Is this a stringing problem with the knot or is he perhaps too tight/loose?

 

I feel your pain, Renarys. I'm looking at Breccia and feeling distressed, she's just the type of a vampire girl of my dreams. I could possibly get involved in a layaway but I seriously should not. I have so many other things I should save money currently; like a camera and doll clothing. Agh. Soom is killing me.

 

SO the new SG male body is taller than the old one? Like noticeably taller? This might change things for me a bit...

 

Wire his legs. It will keep his knees from buckling. He should be fine after that.

Wiring did miracles on my Benmore who refused to stand at all until he was wired.

 

I like the new Breccia for a male chareacter I have, a beautiful vamp boy omg, her fangs are so cute!!

 

LiselT Some of the new body knees are just odd--they have a sliding cover on them that can get hung up too. Tighter stringing helps a lot--and pulling on it to be sure the tension is even on both legs-- but if he does keep buckling, do as Minerva suggests and wire him!

 

Thanks for the advice, guys. He's tight enough - tighter than any of my other dolls no less - so I'm going to go look into wiring him tomorrow when I go out to the craft store for a new sketchbook.
