Soom Super Gem Discussion (Basic, Limited & Special Order) - Part 7

My FC Chrom in bronze (even if he doesn't look it) named Liam got to be my photography subject finally. He actually looks like he's smiling for once, usually he kind of glares at me. Probably because he doesn't get played with as often as some of my other dolls despite being my grail.

 

Drive by of my Mercedes (Cuprit). She finally has a faceup after being home with me for 1 year.

 

*Groans* I was Soomed....I ordered a Jack (Lizard version). Ugh...

 

Did anyone see the new monthly doll teaser? A male Amber? Amber was really popular I remember.

I'm glad they're releasing a male Amber though. I don't care for Amber, and the more dolls they release that are rereleases of sculpts I don't like, the less I will feel the need to buy.

 

I'm loving the teaser picture, Amber is one of my favorites and I've always wanted a boy Amber He looks gorgeous.

 

i thought that Benmore was the male amber. i am excited to see this one, though.

 

Me too! Really seemed like Soom was going for that with Benmore's look...
Though I already own my Amber/Benmore fraternal twins (mind you, they look similar enough) I'm quite intrigued on how the fantasy body will look like! Still going with that deer theme or not? Completely different creature? ...he'll get a fantasy body, won't he?

If he's hooved, available in bronze and piques my interest more than lovely Benmore I may swap him out - but I just hope I won't like him that much...

 

Looks like different ears from the girl Amber. Maybe he's not a deer?

 

I really like the eye shape, it's different from Amber too, just like the ears are.

 

Omg! A male Amber with diferent ears and romance version is excited!! I already own my Amber boy in white skin, but this new guy will be his brother hehehe...just love the Amber mold as a boy *-*

 

Just wow he looks HE and not just a girl Amber on a male body...and I'm excited that they finally offer "official" male Amber! The original has quite big eyes in my opinion and the ears are more like cute/adorably fun but this guy has sharper, more "masculine" elf ears and r.eyes.. I don't even need one but their rereleases make me happy. This could be my gothic Amber lady's lost brother Now I want to take my Amber outside for photos, too.

 

I need to stop looking at this new boy. I just got Soomed hard by Jack, and there's a MegaGem in transit to me who will need to be worked on once he arrives, and I really do have enough pretty larger boys, and and --

Whoever has been styling Soom's dolls lately needs to stop. My wallet is not happy about this teaser photo. Maybe he won't have cool fantasy parts?

 

That romantic Amber is HOT!!! I just hope I still have a job to return to.......

 

This new Amber is good-looking. It's interesting how he's [LIMITED EDITION] and not just an SO. I wonder what the difference is?

 

That probably means there will be certain amount of the dolls, like 50 or something. But he does look gorgeous !

 

They've occasionally done LE limited numbers in the past. I'm incredibly intrigued, but have just spent gobs of money on Soom, Switch and I.O.S., so I really need to be good for a minute or two, especially with Emerald City Comicon next week and Sakuracon just after. It also helps that the boy I'd want to shell who looks uncannily like Amber doesn't have fantasy ears, so I think I'll stick to my Benmore head.

Hmmmm.... male Amber is looking very tempting! I'll definitely have to check out what he looks like when they finally get all the photos up!

 

I really like the way Amber looks in that photo but from that angle it's hard to tell if I like him enough to bring him home. I can't wait to see more pictures though I really hope I won't completely fall in love with the sculpt.

 

Have the recent headsculpt re-releases (Heliot, etc) been on the new body, or the old one?

Chalco, Obsidius, Heliot, Chrom and Dia were on the new one. So basically all the re-releases in human form where on new body.

 

Ashbet they have been on the new body--which I kind of like, as long as it's the Easy Pose one with the extra thigh piece. The Simple Pose body is kind of rubbish to pose.

 

Looks like they plan to offer the Romantic Amber boy in grey skin as well. New teaser picture is up on their Facebook page.

 

i thought they were supposed to have released him for sale already '3' i dont have any interest in purchasing him but i still want to stare at new soom creations XD

 

I really hope I will somehow - magically - hate him when he is released, otherwise I'll have a serious problem.
I've wanted an Amber boy ever since I first saw that sculpt. But. Money. Gah.

Oh dear. He's turning out to be the sort of pretty goth faery I like. This is bad.

No visible antlers. Definitely not another deer. I suppose we'll see if he has a fantasy body or not in a few hours.

Amber... but with upturned ears instead of downturned? Uh oh.

 

Finally not deer parts, its like the other thwo night Walker, only hands and feet are "fantasy", habe a cool face but i dont know if i need him or not.

 

AH! finally he is up! hes really gorgeous! fortunately i am immune >.D!

 

He will join my GS Dream Ripper. It can't be helped, the grey resin is my weakness.

 

Ah, he is a youkai after all. Pretty! My budget may not like the grey skin as much as I do but I'll figure something out.

It'll be Bronze-only for FCE resin options since they listened to all the begging for umpteen resin options on this round, if anyone else needs enabling.

Thank god he's on normal(ish) feet! I really want him, but I'll wait until a FCE to get him on a fantasy body ^^

 

Luckily I'm safe from Amber boy, teaser pic was gorgeous but after seeing all of photos... meh.
And speaking of FCE... Has anyone recently asked them about FCE? Are they planning any soon?

 

I keep staring at those Amber boy pics and he looks really good until they show the photo without the wig and then it just....I don't know what it is, but he looks better with the wig on instead. Glad I have my Quartz staring at me now giving me the side eye. Oh well I know Soom will make another guy that I won't be able to refuse sooner or later.....hoping later.

 

I keep thinking about that grey Amber one-off who was so gorgeous. This one might be even better IMO (romantic eyes and a boy). I will regret nothing!

I know there's a Little Gem FCE next month, but I haven't the slightest clue when a Super Gem might be.

 

hmmm...gray Amber boy should be too enticing...yet I find myself not sold on him. Think it's the poor face-up.

Plus Soom raised prices making me see-saw between passing and getting him like I did on the last three large dolls.

 

I found myself waiting to see the Soom Amber boy when first photo was released, but now that they gave more photos...
They changed ear sculpt and made, in my opinnion, boring legs and hands that look like straight out of Hook-set.
Honestly as he was supposed to be Amber doll I expected more. So safe by the slagging. Or just luck.

 

I feel like they didn't try as hard with this R.Amber release as they did with the other recent SOs. It would have been nice to see an outfit release with him and more interesting parts, but I see huge potential in him. I decided to get him in CW, and will be commissioning a faceup for him.

 

My three favorite things about the original Amber sculpt are the eyes, mouth, and ears . . . and since Soom changed two of those, I'm a bit let-down.

I think I would have been more into him if he'd been released without the "male Amber" hype -- his ears are nice, but I'm just not feeling it. (He's a gorgeous doll, and I'm excited for people who are ordering him -- I'm personally a bit relieved that I'm not spending yet more doll money at the moment.)

Still kicking myself for not getting Dream Ripper Heliot, though. Argh!

Yes, he does have human hands, but feets are only fantasy.

The hands look the same as the fantasy hands for the Jack Lizard version? I could be wrong. He is nice but not for me. And I'm relieved, because I was worried I would regret buying my Jack but I'm safe.

 

Can someone explain the standard supergem to me? Do they go on sale? Are they always sold out?

 

PandaGirl Do you mean the "steady sellers" section on the website? I think only Dia is still available there for ordering anytime, I have the feeling they are trying to close down that section because over time there have been less and less available in that category. I think the Monthly Dolls pretty much take all their time.

 

I agree, they look similar to both Jack's lizard hands and the Chrom's Soul Tracker hands.

 

If anyone was hoping for Soom to put only Amber head for sale or to see his head on FCE, you better re-think decision of not getting one now if you really want, because Soom answered to comments about head:

 

"Having no plans" is their default answer to everything. It just means we can't count on seeing X item in FCE anytime soon. We aren't due for a SG FCE for at least another year anyway.

If you like something, it's better to buy it now in case they really don't release it ever again.

 

Which is the answer no ones wallet likes lol.

 

I got excited seeing this new release because I've always liked the Amber head - but it doesn't look like the original Amber face/mouth - someone mentioned they'd changed it? Maybe it's the faceup but it looks like a lot of their other male heads.

Questions from someone who never has money during their limited sale periods:
1. - What is the "extra body" they mention as an option. I don't see a Parts section in the side menu to check out how the bodies have changed since I last had a supergem body.

2. Would someone mind checking out this "Biweekly Clothing" sale page and let me know what head sculpt that is on the model? I found the page cross-referenced in an older sale page for "The Crow".

 

1. Extra type in the options only means the SG body with "extra" joints You can see a comparison between the simple and extra types here.

2. It says it on the page as well that the normal skin model is The Crow and tawny skin model is Puss in Boots
