Soom Super Gem Discussion (Basic, Limited & Special Order) - Part 6

My Little Gems, and Aeona (who has Amber hooves) have holes in their feet that you run the elastic through, then hook the s hook on the end. The s hook is pulled back into the hole completely so they can stand on their feet, and it's big enough that it can't be pulled out.

Edit: Trying to take pictures but I can't get my phone to focus on the bottom of her hooves! It keeps focusing on her face.

But that's the hook on my Bazael feet pulled out. Obviously, you wouldn't leave it like that, you'd turn it and gently let it go into the hole.

Lap ribbon or wire through the string, thread it into the hole, and pull the string all the way through. Attach your hook, and lower it into the hole again. Then fish out whatever you used to thread it through. The second side will be harder because there's going to be more tension on it. Hope that helps!

That help is glorious! Thanks so much for the link too, I honestly had no idea the extra S hooks were for the feet. I thought they were just extras... Would the hooks sitting against the resin eventually dent the inside of the hole tho? The elastics I got with Breccia are so tight that they had left a dent where the big S hook sat in her neck.

 

Aeona is strung very tightly, and does not seem to suffer any hardships from tight elastic. Neither do any of my Little Gems that are strung that way.

 

I have Super Gem hybrid (Amber head on a Beryl body) and she has no issues with the s-hooks denting her hooves.

Sharnofshade, thank you for the tutorial -- I have some Breccia fox parts which I've never used (long story, of which the short version is that I haven't had as much money to spend on putting together ambitious hybrids in recent years, and my original plan involved a heavily-modded Delf body . . . and I wanted to get a Breccia head at some point, which hasn't happened), and I would have had no idea how to put them on!

My Beryl has had her hooves on since I got her (Lyn_R unstrung/restrung her for her body blushing, but *I've* never taken her apart), and I've always kind of wondered how it would work if I had to unstring her

Wow, I *love* Odette!! I think she may be my favorite of the new-MD female faces -- what a beauty! (I can see the Topaz resemblance, too, like they could be sisters . . . but she's definitely her own girl.) And the Black Swan set is to DIE for

If I had the funds, I'd absolutely pick her up -- but I look forward to admiring the Odettes that may eventually appear in this thread ^___^

A while ago I mentioned that Sirocco was getting some smexy new shoes...well guess what unexpectedly arrived today

I need to get shoes for Pele. And Kalar, because the shoes I initially ordered for him are going to be stolen as soon as I get my Dream Ripper Heliot a body. And my assorted non Super Gems that also have no shoes.

.... I'm lucky most of my tinies and all of my minis have fantasy feet. They can't wear shoes. Aeona is also awesome, she can't wear shoes either.

 

If she can stand in those, I am seriously impressed!

Girrl, ha! I have those shoes too, aren't they awesome? XD I have them for a Iplehouse SID girl and they're just perfect~ She can stand in them too, which I totally wasn't expecting!

Ashbet, I don't know about Girrl, but I got mine from Taobao I searched for the gold pair quite a while since they were sold out pretty much everywhere I looked... They were also a lot cheaper than on Ebay or other sites.

 

I have been wondering something for a while. Would the resin shoes for the new female body (Sweet Witch shoes, Soulmate Cuprit shoes, any other shoes in the future made for that body) fit on Vesuvia's special high heel feet? I was tempted to find a split for them when Soulmate Cuprit came out but wasn't sure they'd fit. Does anyone have one of these pairs of shoes and a Vesuvia to see?

 

Nope they don't Like at all... I didn't even bother taking a picture, they just don't fit. You'd have to heavily sand the Vesu feet and shape it differently, and I'm not sure if it'd fit even then.

Not worth it then. Sad, I was quite curious when I noticed those new shoes came with feet that were like Vesuvia's shoe feet. Guess Pele will have to be content with her one pair of resin shoes.

I got them from HorusDoll. I almost got Sonja the red ones, but then I decided against it because getting her to stand in heels is a bit of a challenge..

safir - I know, right? Crazy awesome. I was looking for gold screw-me-shoes and stumbled across these. Sirocco being able to stand in them was a pleasant surprise.

That girl is the most elegant thing now!

 

It's based on Kalar's outfit. Pele stole it, and then I liked the silhouette of it on her so much that I asked mom to make her a dress with that silhouette.

I've been waiting to join in on this discussion thread for a while, but have been waiting until my Sweet Witch was complete! I recently gave her a proper faceup and a special debut photoshoot! Below is Marla in her full glory. I spent a lot of time enhancing her default outfit, and I'm so happy with how it came out! I hope anyone else who has a Sweet Witch will share theirs as well~

I'd share my Sweet Witch, but I'm still waiting on a wig for her I can't decide whether Leeke's Royal Grey will suit Soom's grey skin, and I haven't been able to find any photos showing that particular combination, so I'm just constantly on the fence about actually buying the wigs. Spending $75 on two wigs without knowing if they'll even be worth keeping is not an experience I enjoy

In happier wig news, I partially assembled my Coquina last night. Even without eyes, and with completely the wrong outfit, I can really see her character coming together For a very impulse buy, I'm really in love with her!

 

Leeke's Royal Grey looks lovely with Soom violet skin.

If you still need an answer to that question in a few months when my grey skin Heliot head arrives, I will be more than happy to take pictures of my Rye wearing her Royal Grey wig, holding his head.

 

I would absolutely adore that photo comparison And it's great to hear that the royal grey looks good with Soom's violet skin too! My GS Galena and my LV Migma are... not quite a pair, but an "it's complicated" couple, so having Royal Grey look good against violet skin is definitely going to be a bonus

 

In that case I'll get back to you when the Dream Rippers start to ship! Unless someone else with a Royal Grey wig wanders in before then.

Pele, Marla, Emeraude, and Coquina are all looking great (and while I no longer own a GS Soom doll, I do have a RoyalGray wig, and I don't think they'd clash.)

Adalwolf, you and Safir have the loveliest "sweet" Soom girls -- it's such a distinctive look, and your tableaux are always so pretty and detailed!

Marla's "updated" dress looks beautiful -- love what you've done with it!

Oh my, these dolls are all so goregous As I can see, Breccia seems to wear a fur wig. Do you know which type of wig is better? Synthetic or fur? I mean, I've read fur comes pretty close to human hair in styling and stuff. I am just kind of coucious if it comes to fur, that fur doesn't grow on trees. In looks they seem fine to really good, depending on styling and stuff... But what about the animal? ._.'' I don't think they'd just brush the hair off and make a wig out of that. So, are synthetics as well good if it comes to styling?
