I really hope that your future orders go smoothly and without any issues (heh, I still have to find the time/energy to paint my Garnet's replacement heel feet, since it's too cold to spray outside, and setting up indoors requires a lot of preparation and safety stuff -- I guess that order went perfectly smoothly other than getting the older-type heel parts, which I had forgotten!), and that you're able to find a Garnet eventually!!

Thanks for the good wishes on Migma! My options are slightly limited because I prefer the Cream White or Grey options to the Violet resin, and it seemed like a lot of people got her in Violet . . . but I hope that one will come along when I'm NOT broke eventually.

I love gargoyles, bats, and vampires, so she's a natural fit in my doll collection!

Ashbet I know that if we wait long enough eventually they will turn up! There is finally a fullset WS Galena (which was my Grail for ages) on the MP..and of course it has been so long that now I am just as happy with the human SO version of Galena.

 

Might have missed this part of the conversation but are those itty bitty teeny weeny teeth I spot in Cinderella's mouth or is it a smudge on my glasses?

 

I finally got around to taking a picture of Valyria; one of my Topaz girls. Hoping to have a picture tomorrow of the my other two twins ^-^

Girrl, not quite! Valyria is my fairy, the other two are twins with nearly identical face-ups, I just adopted them recently ^-^ Valyria is a few months older.

Arekushia they are so cute! (How do you tell them apart?) Did cats10 do the faceups? So perfect for Topaz to have a sweet as candy faceup.

 

fishcake, Thank you! I feel awful I haven't named them yet >.< One has purple eye shadow around the outer portion of her eyes, the other has pink.
Their faceups were done by Vitta Vera ^-^ I adopted just a few weeks ago but I was out of town so I only just got around to unpacking and stringing them yesterday and this morning. They were a very impulsive buy but I couldn't resist the duo!

 

I Thought those looked like Vitta Vera faceups! She's done most of my dolls' faceups (because she's freaken Awesome!!!)

xtal I think so, at least the Ebay version of jpop--it's shown on a Dollshe guy, of all things. I did see an arm for Bix on the MP ..not really the same though I have no business wanting another Cass, I have the MD in Bubbles form and the NS Special Order, so I really have plenty.

Ah, as soon as you said it was modeled on a Dollshe guy I thought it had to be the Saint wig. I'm hoping for blonde, but I could use it in black too. They look so different in the wild, as it were.

*laughs* Hey, there are just some of them you have to have in every color they offer! I'd be happy with just one Bix, any color. I did see the arm a while back. . . got my hopes up for a second until I read the whole thread title.

 

Don't give up hope, xtal! Bix was one of my "I love him but I'm sure I'll never own him" grails for a long time, and then suddenly one week I found his arm and his head (with original face-up ) in separate threads on the MP. And I got both for really good prices, too! Even crazy rare dolls can join your collection if you keep your eyes peeled for long enough

*laughs* I try to stay out of the MP when funds are low. . . but I should probably look anyway. . . just in case. I've gotten lucky once, he wasn't particularly rare (but I really wanted one for a while) but I did find his pieces for a very good price.

 

Urk. And with my luck this will have Obsidius, when I just paid off Vesuvia because I couldn't find anyone to split with!

 

I'll definitely post some Bix spam as soon as his wig arrives - I ordered him one in Mystery Black from Leeke's recent seasonal event (via a GO) and I'm dying to see how it looks on him

And I'm crossing my fingers that none of the male FC guys decide to be 'must haves' for me. My wallet is still crying from the female SG event, and I need to save for the (potential) upcoming Little Gem event (in which I will have to snag a Thera to be my mini-Cuprit) and Rosette event (in which I will be sorely tempted by tanned Violet and Sakura, if they're available).

Anyone want to guess at who'll be included in the SGM-FCE? I think the oldest SG males not already released in a FC event are Bix/Bazael/Obsidius/Arkose/Tremo/Quartz/Benmore? They might skip Bix (again) though, which would mean either offering seven dolls instead of eight, or including Beast from the New MD category...

I think I'll be safe from Arkose (who is a grail of mine, but only in Light Violet), and I already own the only other boys off that list I want (Bix and Benmore)... unless they do include beast, in which case I'd be doomed and have to find a way to get his fantasy head >.>; Here's hoping they leave New MD dolls until the next event, and include Bix this time instead! I know Cass missed her place in the first event but was added to the second, and Vesuvia's body wasn't included in the first until people asked for it, so there may be hope yet that Bix fans will get a chance to buy him straight from Soom

 

Just saw the FCE warning. And I just finished paying off my FCE girl and my post-MD goodies. Hopefully nothing I need since I wanted to spend a few months of spare cash on finishing projects rather than starting new ones.

Oh well, at least they warned us that it's coming. Remember, don't buy anything for the first few days in case there's another pricing error.

I made the mistake of refreshing my memory on those dolls who are likely to appear. Then I started entertaining thoughts of how a grey-skinned Obsidius could be everything I wanted Wolf the Knight to be in terms of nice fantasy feet. This is bad for my wallet. I'm supposed to be finding a SG body for my MA Saiph head, not buying new stuff!

I'm with you on this. Please let it not be for a while if we're getting the SG boys now. Something small next time. I do better resisting small Soom dolls.

I think I'll be safe from the male super gems but it will still be cool to see which sculpts and colours are offered ^-^ Hopefully there won't be any pricing issues again.

 

I am kind of wondering if there isn't something regarding the rights to re-issue Bix. His sculptor only did his head sculpt for Soom and no others. I mean it's kind of odd otherwise, that they've made the others available from the same year but not Bix.

 

Maybe the sculptor left and no one is there to redo the mold?

 

Yes, curious about Bix. I'd thought he was left out because he didn't sell so well originally, but he really is a lovely sculpt and I'm sure people would love to have a second chance at getting him!

Oh, I am hoping to escape the upcoming FC event! I managed to resist these lovely guys the first time around, but Soom is so evil trying to tempt me again and again! I already have three male SG MDs, which I think is enough. Plus, I have an Adamelli/Shale centaur on layaway. Hopefully that will be tying up money so I will be safe... but I always think that there's always a credit card...!

 

How tall is the [FONT=&amp]Shoshon? It says on their site he is a Mega Gem but doesn't exactly say how tall he is. I am getting one soon and want him to have jointed hands, so I need to know what size to get [/FONT]

Just wanted to post of picture of my LV Migma. I bought her second hand from the marketplace and I adore her. She has a wonderful faceup and her expression seems to change depending on where you are in the room. She is my favourite doll and I just love her to bits. I only just discovered Soom dolls as I thought they were too expensive for me. I know why they are pricey, because if Migma is anything to go by, they are simply stunning and well worth it.

Gypsy: I love your Migma. That wig is something special. I have to agree with everything you said about Migma she is a wonderful sculpt. She is also my favorite, I now have two and I know others have multiples of her.

 

I've escaped having multiples of a sculpt, mostly due to lack of funds than lack of desire. I often think I'd like another Sphaler.

I didn't think any of the 2008 MDs were popular until Heliot came out. The did SOs for for all the Super Gem sized '08 monthlies except for Bix. If it was only a problem with the master or molds I would have thought they'd just say so instead of "we have no plans" when asked about Bix. I didn't think IO or Euclase were that popular at the time of their release either.

 

I know it's not 100% indicative of things (due to things like dolls changing hands, and FC and SO dolls being listed in the threads, and the fact that not everyone posts database entries), but here's the break down of 2008 Super Gem MD database threads:

Heliot=90 (83 original release, 3 special order, 4 free choice)
Amber=55
Sard=55 (36 original release, 6 special order, 13 free choice)
Euclase=40 (37 original release, 1 special order, 2 free choice)
Onyx=35 (26 original release, 5 special order, 3 free choice)
Vesuvia=35 (27 original release, 6 special order, 3 free choice)

Even accounting for all the variety, I think it's safe to say Bix sold many fewer dolls, even compared only against other 2008 dolls. I'm going to go through the threads themselves now, and see if I can't tease out more information (original releases versus re-releases, for instance).

I really wish DoA didn't have to delete WR threads, because they'd be so useful for this sort of statistical stuff

 

You've got more energy than I do, going through all those threads. I'm guilty of not adding any of mine. I wonder how many went to people not on DoA as well. I find it hard to believe there are really only 6 Bix in the wild. Or at least I hope it's not that few, it makes hoping for one on te MP difficult.

I think the original special orders, like Beryl, number limited rather than by time? Some sold out instantly while others lingered or seemed sold out only to have a few pop back up when orders were cancelled. I guess that's why they switched to the time limit. On the one hand they could sell more than a set number (it was 50, I think?) and also they wouldn't have to prep the molds months later because the original number wasn't sold out. My recollection may be faulty, however.

 

I know Beryl's SO was set at 50 and then sold out in like 2 minutes (the Love Me Or Die version). I often do Google Image searches to get an idea of how popular a sculpt was, though the old Waiting Rooms would be awesome to track sculpts--or just Soom releasing the information. That would actually help people keep track of the genuine releases, as you could estimate how likely it was to get a certain doll on ebay..like a purple Vesuvia, (highly unlikely) which from my casual tabulating is one of the rarest girls. I think Bix might be even less common--I know of 3 in the United States, vs a heapload of Heliots and a snowdrift of Sphalers.

New bodies and old bodies just don't fit together, so I would guess they would do one style or the other. I'm guessing the old body just because the girl event was old bodies.

 

I am having a hard time finding a brownish/orangish wig for my Cuprit. I have this FR ITBE Adele 2013 and her hair color is the color I want for my Bronze Cuprit. Leekeworld does not have this color and the wig she is wearing is cute, but not right for her. Can anyone point me to the right wig company?

About the FC Event- I'd suppose it's just the old type bodies, although you can mix the two types of bodies with both heads- so that's not the problem. It could be difficult to swap old type fantasy parts with new type body, but you can use for example an Obsidius head for a Benmore body. The SO dolls are having the new type bodies with the old molds like Migma, Breccia, Cuprit, Chalco...

 

Free choice list is up. Includes both new and old bodies. And.....Bix made it to the list. I'm so glad there's nothing I want on the list.

but i think it only includes Bix's body, not the head...
