I'm surprised it isn't sold out already. There appears to be only one left. It won't let me add a second one to my cart.

 

Usually the limited outfit is one per account I guess, ID outfit sold out more quickly

 

I'm going to jump in here... Soom got me twice in a row... I knew I would want Saiph when I saw her on the calendar, but good lord her romantic version floored me, AND in baby pink, and I know this isthe SG thread, but I ordered both Ieren/Irene heads as well from Idealian because I'd wanted her since her first release, so, here I am!!

 

RIP my wallet, Soom's release schedule has a Super Gem Euclase for release on the 14th... because the 7 I have isn't enough already. Wonder if it'll be human or fantasy Euclase? Still REALLY hoping for a blue Euclase...

Just curious, since I can't seem to find any info regarding this... Does anyone know how often SOOM does a free choice event? I want to guess at either spring or fall, but where does one find the info?

I've been absent from this hobby fora while due to real life... So I haven't been following events. I also absolutely adore the grey skin, and have a couple drow doll concepts in mind... Mostly just waiting for the sculpt I want to roll around...

 

I think Soom's management has changed and I don't expect another free choice event. I think they find new releases of older sculpts easier. If there is a sculpt you want, you should ask Soom on the Q&A board, They rarely give a definite response but they do count requests.

 

Thanks for the suggestion, nacny_shroeder_ca. I did what you said, and asked about a future free choice and in particular the sculpt/colour I'm looking for... I got an answer within a day, and they said they have no plans for free choice events, and no plans to release a grey resin Nephelin. But my request has been passed along to the planning team for review.

Not a total loss. I'm actually rather impressed then I wasn't entirely turned down, and the response time was so fast.

I've ordered an elf Saiph (romantic head) and I was wondering if anyone knew which super gem body she is on?
I know there have been a few versions through the year and I just want to make sure the clothes I buy for her will fit.

 

I’m tempted to order her but looking at her pictures her neck looks quite thick? For those who have this body, is the neck really that thick?

 

Soom is now using the "new" 2012 SG female body which is a bit shorter than the original SG body. The neck has been discussed before. I think it depends on the head and the angle of the head. This link to a great comparison has been posted before:

@nancy_schroeder_ca thank you for the link I have until the 13th to make a decision. I’m just worried that irl her neck might look thick.

 

I caved and ordered her and her dress. My elf population increases! If her body is the same as the one my Varda has, then I find no problem with it in real life.

 

Does the neck look thick in real life?

From straight on, in my opinion, it doesn't look very thick because her shoulders are wide and her head doesn't look wobbly. From certain angles - like when I have her posing in the tree - it might look thicker but I am okay with that. Her neck seems natural to me. But others might find that to be too thick for their tastes.

 

@sunnysailor, a few of SOOMs newer female sculpts are a little "pinheaded"

Oh I should mention that is from the 2015, not the most recent one. I don't know if the sculpt is the same. I meant newer, compared to their original girls on the old body.

I think when elf ears are involved, the neck looks thinner because the head's width seems larger due to the ears.

Welp! I made my final decision so I went ahead and bought her! I got her in the baby pink skin stone with the romantic head but I’m having second thoughts about the head I wished they had blank pics of both heads.

@sunnysailor Sometimes they will post blank head pictures on the Q&A boards if you ask! I bought both heads but only got the regular head painted - my friend wants the romantic head. And if you want the other head, they can add it to your order so long as you communicate that within the next 48 hours I think. Their response time is definitely good! So I would ask now in case you're unsure!

 

I like the romantic head but I would prefer her with eyes with smaller irises.

 

I asked on the Q&A regarding a head switch, it never occurred to me to ask for blank head pictures good to know! Question, can the super gem body wear regular SD sized clothing as well with shoes?

It's always exciting when a doll ships! I find it hardest to wait while the package is in transit. I worry about my children traveling alone!

Not sure how long this will take. Friends tell me EMS can sit around a while en route. So, I'll worry 'til he's home.

 

I had one small EMS package arrive in pretty much normal time. The stuff from China is slow but it always is slow.

 

Things might take a while to get there with what’s going on but who knows it might not take that long.

 

@sunnysailor My girl can wear normal SD shoes - I have a few from Angell Studio that I like to have her wear. As for clothing, if it is adjustable, it fits. So for example, I got her an Angell Studio dress meant for their slightly smaller SD dolls and she can wear it because it is a corset so I can adjust it but she can't wear the tights that came with it. She can also fit into SD16 Volks clothing. She also fits into Soom clothing of course. So when it comes to SD clothing, check the measurements of the brand if you can or search for SD16 clothing. I really need to update Varda's photo album to show off her Volks clothes.

 

@jessholy im glad to know that she can fit in SD16 clothes and shoes as well so she is going to be easy to shop for, good news me but bad news for my wallet.

 

@sunnysailor It is the truth! Varda has at least 3 times more clothes than my SD boys. But she's going to share them with the new girl, yes she is!

 

@jessholy after owning three IH dolls and struggling with clothes and shoes I happy that she is easy to shop for.

Too bad I am not in the market for a male doll at the moment, from his teaser pic he looks nice and I am a sucker for fantasy skin color.

 

I know how all that works, that wasn't the issue. The two dates were a few days apart and I didn't notice they pushed it back until I was like "huh it says he was supposed to be up by this time... oh" XD

 

Oooh I want to see what his whole outfit looks like. I always enjoy looking at the new dolls, even if I don't end up buying them.

 

Euclase is live

 

I'm pleasantly surprised that the new Euclase release includes everything his original release did and more (or less, if you choose the options accordingly). Disappointed no blue resin option but I put an order in anyway for a Euclase in cream white with all option parts (aside from the separately-available jointed claw hands which I love but not for $180 USD). I also got the outfit, which is just splendid (and already sold out!).

Going to be dying this guy blue! I'd intended to do that with my free choice Euclase with Crow body but decided he looked better in white as a kind of angelic boy. However, with a second release of Euclase available in cream white now (and with both heads!) this is the perfect excuse for me to finally make the "Blueclase" I so desperately want but Soom never releases.

 

I don't particularly care for the outfit, but the style is similar to what I've been wanting to make for my Corun (minus the weird shortened top, and in very different colors), so at least now I have an example of what I want this outfit to look like?

Blue dyed Soom dolls are so pretty! I can't wait to see him all done!

 

He looks very different from the original. Could it be the face up? I find the meditation head a lot nicer than the basic head. Im not sure if it’s the wig that makes the basic head look less adorable.

has anyone owned a closed eyes bjd? What do you think of it? Is it boring?do you like it? I like how it is referred as “meditation” but a closed eyes bjd makes me think of a dead bjd or someone with a sight problem. I guess it’s how you arrange it and it could be like he’s praying instead.

does anyone know what’s the next line of super gem? When will soom bring back mega gems?

 

Soom thankfully does at least a monthly preview of dolls that they're going to sell over here: Doll of the Month - The Gem
But - Megagems haven't been sold since 2017, I doubt they'll bring them back. Megagem heads are sporadically rereleased as Idealians though, like Phonolus or Shoshon.

Also... my hubby better hope my dream of SOOM releasing a light purple Beryl does not come to pass because I would so have to jump on that.

 

The high heel feet were such a surprise! I have been out of the hobby for a long time, so I went back and looked up a bunch of older dolls and saw a few more male dolls with high heels. Very chic!

 

I think Luts is also selling high heel feet for male dolls as well I know that a lot owners always hoped that companies would make them for male dolls.

 

Oh that's so great! I love it when trends like this ripple through the whole industry once one company (whoever they were!) has gone out with something groundbreaking

I know this might be a question I asked before but I forget which thread and page it is on but does Luts' real skin white resin match with Soom's cream white? I was hoping to use one of their bodies for my floating Quartz head but I will take any suggestions for a body by a company that has resin that looks similar enough.

 

Grey Dia here with bells on - so to speak. Now I need a name. He likes fancy clothes, not neccessarily period/historical. Best friend so far is Seokga, violet Chalco.
Eyes for now are Soom no pupil greenybluish.
It was a wrestling match getting him on his body. Gah! Wish they'd ship them strung. I will paint his jointed hands this weekend. fun!
