RE: Pale violet. Garam looked a lot darker in his promo photos than he does in person. Some of the IG posts shared above (DoNotFoxWithMe) are mine, but I'll try and post some more pictures of the resin color for you guys in just a bit. I actually have a cream white Raon I can post a headcap comparison with if that helps.

The pale violet does seem close to a white, with purple undertones in person. It also depends a lot on the lighting and what color it's sitting near. For me, it's subtle enough to be 'perfect'. Much like the 'baby pink' Raon also came with.

 

Here is a quick comparison for you guys. No color editing. I don't have any pure white dolls, only Soom's cream white which doesn't really count. So that's the best comparison I can make. Here is pale violet (2018, Garam), baby pink (2017, Raon), and cream white (2017, Raon). As I mentioned before, the way it shows up in photos depends a lot on how to photograph it. Garam tends to look closer to white in some pictures I take, while the headcap here really shows the difference against a white backdrop. Either way, I think it's really pretty.

Anyone think they can guess how the pale violet resin will age; if at all?
I'm thinking maybe over time it might lose the pale violet tone and could slightly maybe just turn to light grey very mellow resin. I think I would be okay with that since I really like the look of grey bjd's anyway. I've just never owned a grey one before... I know shame on me.

 

pale violet seems to be paler than light violet. that's a very helpful comparison @CourtneyC.

it makes sense that it would age to grey - maybe with a touch of blue - @PowerAndWeakness since red fades fastest.

 

@PowerAndWeakness That makes sense since Arkose is an older doll and is more toward grey.

 

Urgh the outfit... #*+#*! I said no more doll related stuff this year. But that's probably as close to the outfit I'm after for Mephistopheles Smith (my hooved evangelist for hell, based on the RoB character/musical of the same name) as I'll get without commissioning it completely from scratch.

Mr Smith wears a powder pink tux/tails in the show... So this is pretty much perfect and it'll fit around the massive chalco hooves if I'm interpreting it right and it comes with both types of trouser... But argh £200 - just after my relatively huge Dollstown order. Um... Would Soom accept a layaway for clothes?

I don't see how the shorts go on without taking the fantasy legs off. and the leggings will only fit over his skinny legs.
now I'm thinking about getting the outfit and the human version rather than fantasy version.
looking at my account, I see lots of points. how did that happen? lovely! makes saying no harder.

 

I have a few points and he is growing on me! I would get the human version too!

 

Oof... and here I was thinking I'd take a nice, long break from the hobby what with all my dolls in storage back with my mom. Alas, Chalco is a long-time must-have and I do love, love this human fullset so at least I'll still be able to maintain my break from searching for dolly clothes and doing faceups/blushing! The pale violet resin is a cherry on top.-3- I've placed my order, but I'll keep checking to see if Soom puts up his shoes for sale. Has anyone asked them yet if they plan to list those?

 

@Kimchi I asked about the shoes. They said they were for display only, and not for sale.

 

Shoes haven't been offered for a number of recent releases.

 

Thanks for the info! That's very useful. (Argh 300... I think that's doable divided up. With shipping just the outfit already hits 250. Hah gods, if anything, if I start adding extras to the cart I think sticking to that limit will be the problem!)

 

@CourtneyC @nancy_schroeder_ca Thanks for the info! I'm disappointed, but white shoes are easy enough to find. I'm glad all the other pieces of his fullset are available for purchase.

 

Sorry to hop in here after lurking, but I wanted to say some good news I've finally managed to score a Soom Isha! At first I thought I didn't want his fantasy head, but wow. It's amazing... and so much better in user pictures. Does anyone have any Isha's they've been hiding? I've seen and ADORE Rook's and Princewhitemare's Ishas (if either of you are reading this I wouldn't complain about a picture hehe), but I can't seem to find many others in fantasy. So many ideas for him, narrowing them down is going to be difficult.

Slightly more on topic: I really wish Soom would offer that new purple color more often. It's beautiful and not overly... fantasy? Chalco almost made his way to my order page before I found Isha >_< So I can't wait to see what everyone else does with him if people are ordering him.

 

@Littlebirdzoom congrats! Isha has my absolute fave fantasy body. I begged Soom to offer Heliot and Chalco's head with the FCE that included Isha's body but they weren't willing to relent.>.<

 

Thank you!! omg that would have been awesome! I debated putting Heliot's head on it instead, but I think I'm warming up to the Isha head and it's becoming a really hard decision. Heliot deserves that long, elegant look. *sigh*

Mephistopheles Smith will finally have his anticipated outfit after a long long wait. (He'd previously been stuck as half of a doll for ages so the fact that he's been lounging in a kimono for a couple of months shouldn't come as a surprise to him... At least he isn't only a floating head/set of Chalco hooves any more!) I set up a layaway for the outfit and the SG high heel feet w.solid heels - figured someone would be able to wear them! (Perhaps even Mr Mephistopheles when he isn't being all hoovey.)

Pale violet is a lot lighter than light violet. I feel myself weakening!

 

Nancy: haha! I was weak from the first look. the pale is very subtle. I hope they use UV in the resin. everyone says their light violet is grey now. (edited to sort out violet designation)
that light violet is blue. very pretty but so different.
for me, the decision will be made last minute. I don't know yet what my Sept. bonus will be. might be 0, in which case I'll get just the outfit and eyes.
my house is eating up all my doll money!

 

Chalco's new outfit is gorgeous but the price...ouch! I also really like his eyes but $75 is a lot for a pair of eyes!

 

@jessholy - I agree. but, in reading more about them, I realize now the eyes are handmade resin. the outfit should have shoes for that price.

the clear hooves and horns will age quickly, but I still love this whole concept so much.
odd that they charged extra for Garam's pale violet, but not for this man.
I must be strong. See what Halloween brings from various doll companies, Christmas sales, etc.

 

soom has gotten too expensive. we should tell them that.

 

The dolls have risen slightly but the outfits have gotten more detailed and therefore more expensive but the quality has been awesome in my experience. But shoes! I like to be able to get shoes!

 

I took my Chalco out this weekend trying to decide if I really want a romantic Chalco as well... I don't photograph this guy very often but it sounds like such a nice, symmetrical addition and the light violet is so interesting >< The pricing is actually almost exactly the same as when I got my Khufu via FCE in 2014; slightly cheaper b/c of the resin color difference.

I doubt I'll get him right now. I am still looking for and hoping for an elf eared Romantic Amber. I missed out on the last ones >_<

@Ravenwolf Thank you! That's such a good vampire faceup on your Sard *^^* At least Soom does re-release sculpts; hopefully the Amber you want comes up soon, or you can find one secondhand

I reluctantly took violet Chalco and his outfit and eyes out of my cart day before yesterday. I just had a feeling it was not good timing.
My refrigerator and washing machine immediately broke down yesterday.
I'm hoping whoever gets the full set will post many photos. We don't often see dolls all put together IRL.

 

I was holding off too. I kept thinking "But what if they offer Narmer again soon?" Well guess who is in the Idealian home page! Narmer! Sorry Chalco! If you're meant to be mine, I get another chance!

Isn't it odd that I'm resentful about spending $1000 on a fridge but I've spent that on a doll with no problem.

I put Chalco back in my shopping cart. I just have a total crush on him and his outfit and eyes, faceup. can live without the hooves. all those points to use.
Will meditate on it tomorrow and Monday. pull the trigger or not Mon. night.

@petiteballerine I know the eyes are made of resin but so are Oscar Doll eyes and they are just as sparkly and cost a good $20 less. But I still have the page open, in case I change my mind. I love the purple outfit so much but I can't picture any of my current dolls wearing it - I shouldn't buy clothes they won't wear, it's not fair to other collectors. But the lace cape is so lovely!

 

The eyes are strange & more complex than most eyes I've seen. A gold-rimmed inner circle inside an outer raised ring. Not oscar. Not enchanted.
way expensive. don't care. It's the full set or nothing. I love making tailcoats for some reason, but still love this one. And it must be on the pale violet Chalco.
can't explain my obsession. But, will paint all of his mouth if I get him. That pretty pout needs to be seen!

 

I have several pairs of the resin eyes they have made recently for the Idealians. I agree with @petiteballerine, they are very unique eyes!

 

The light violet skin looks just wonderful, but I’m wonder what would the colour will be when aged...
Is someone here, decide to order a full WS Chalco with Romantic head alone? I’d like to split by adding a basic head apart. If there’s someone, please pm me, thanks a lot!

Well, we know how the light violet ages, but not the pale violet because it's so new. I'm pretty shocked that the light violet looks nothing like the original. Hopefully, they use UV protection in their resin now.

 

I need to get my light violet Arkose out and see what color he is now! Poor guy has never gotten a faceup!

life is short. or very long for some. we just had a series of storms turn into a tropical storm that's now becoming a hurricane. (not for me) so ya never know.

That outfit that Breccia is wearing is nice, but I won't be needing it, however she looks very tempting.

 

She doesn't look too bobble headed in those pictures, though the wig might disguise it.
I don't really care for Breccia. The only two super gem girls I would really be tempted by are Coquina and Ignim.

 

Double Harmony Breccia is very sweet! I think this is my favorite version of her so far~

 

Hello! I was just wondering if soom has changed the resin they use into a better one? I own a doll produced in 2010 and it's terribly green now ( i bought it second hand) yellowing is something but greening is just quite sad. I am looking to purchase another soom doll and would like to know if their resin still does this. Anyone here own dolls produced from 2011 onwards? any help is appreciated thanks!

 

hi @Yangire811 . I have grey Euclase & white Sard from 2008 with no green or yellow. Later dolls like Chalco Soulmate still perfect. Newer white dolls are still beautiful but my one guy who is a bit darker is a white Heliot head from long ago. (stored in a box in cupboard while his buddy Sard looks great sitting out naked for 10 years!.) Normal resin looks great even on Uyoo from years ago.
