Soom Petit Gem Discussion - Part 1

It varies honestly. I've gotten them in two months before and I've been waiting on my morga for almost four now it feels like. I think it depends, But they seem like they've been slow on their shipping game the last couple months.

Leepy and Rudy's outfits are so cute I wish I could just get the leg warms. I'd wanted a pair for my Obiin for the longest. Too bad they aren't separate..

 

welp I did it! Ive got a leepy ordered... I have no Regrets! Thanks for your guy's help in making that decision!!

 

@TechnicolorFox, fair enough! I also prefer to post cute pictures of my dolls, so I understand where you're coming from.

Annnd go ahead and add me to the Leepy train too. >.> I ordered her with the outfit, grey skin, open eyed, and blank. I'm really hoping that Rudy and Leepy work out. I've already got names for them: Ferdy and Fran. :B

 

@taixonay Ferdy and Fran sound like they'll be adorable!!! Perfect names.

It was that grey skin option that got me too, I ordered some of Soom's Slient night eyes to go with mine so she'll have those big brown eyes.

This Petit Gem line could become dangerous If they keep up with this trend.

 

I caved and orderd a Leepy (grey skin, open head, no extra's)
My Ondiin took about two months, so hopefully it will be the same for Rudy's and Leepy's as well

I probably would want to have a little fur wig on it. What wig size do Petit Gem dolls use?

 

If I remember correctly my Obiin has a four inch wig. It's cute but the magnets arent super strong. I have to keep readjusting them if I want them in with the wig.

 

I couldn't resist, I put a gray Leepy on layaway. Open eyes, makeup and blushing with the outfit. It will be a bit of a wait but I suspect she will be worth it.

@Kami_aqua, I'm going to have to agree with you about the Petit Gems being dangerous. Hopefully there won't be too many of them in a single year and hopefully their sale periods will be further apart as well.

I was also thinking about brown eyes for my Leepy, though I'm leaning towards Mako eyes, maybe IB-009. Not sure what color eyes would work best for Rudy though. Maybe grey? I don't want to do blue or green.

 

I wish Soom shipes out the Rudys.... >.<

Leepy is so cute Just the bunny doll I've always wanted. Been so hard to find a bunny doll I actually liked. I'm so picky about my Anthros So this little bunny there was no way I could resist

Just need to figure out some eyes, do the others really need 12mm or would 14mm fit? I'm thinking probably 12mm would the smartest for the eye wells? What do you peeps think?

 

Hi everyone! I got more birthday money than excepted, and ended up buying Leepy yesterday, just in time before orders for her close! I ordered her with white skin, faceup and outfit. I'm really excited, I love bunnies and she'll be my first bunny doll and also first doll from Soom. She's my second anthro doll, I already have Pipos cat, who I'm planning on being this lil one's adopted mom. :3 aaaa it's going to be long wait, my last two dolls were second-hand, so I kind of got used to not-so-long waits. But I knew I'd regret it if I didn't buy her, and my partner in the end just told me to do it. I didn't buy Fairyland's Momo when she was on sale, and I regret it so much. Though I didn't have quite enough money, I think. Still, makes me sad. I never see her on marketplace.

I hope we get pictures of Rudy soon, I really love her too! Maybe if I find one on sale on marketplace at some point, I'll get her to too! If the price isn't too high, that is.

 

I picked out 12mm since that what soom used. I think 10mm might work too in your want less iris and pupil I feel like 14mm would be to big.

@heavenlydevil Welcome to the party! Leepys a great bunny too! I'm working on modding my soom mylos bunny parts to fit her minifee body to fit in with my Leepy and Hawa. Full bunny family! I hope you get your momo one day!

Congratulations!!! Yeah I squeaked in right under the cut off too haha! It's so hard when we miss out on the ones we really want! That's how I felt about Rudy but just couldn't make it happen before the cut off

I considered just getting Momo from a la carte but it wouldn't be the same. Some day! I think she might be my grail :0

Oh hey I also wanted to ask, do you guys know if pukipuki clothes will fit these guys? I figured yes, since the measurements are so similar, but I'm not sure.

Also, are they single-jointed or double? I thought single, but I'm not sure... but boy, am I gonna have many single-jointed resin babies! (I only have one double right now.... T_T)

 

They are single jointed.

 

Leepy would make a really cute Judy Hopps from Zootopia! I was looking through my "Art of Zootopia” book last night when I noticed it.

Maybe I can find someone who can make Hopps' police uniform for Petit Gem...

@taixonay wow, that's true! Though Judy's face is bit more happy, I think... but still! I can't believe I never noticed this, Zootopia is my favorite Disney movie! I hope you find someone to make that outfit, it'd be so cool!

 

Maybe with a different face up it might work? I don't think I'll actually make my Leepy into Judy, but a cosplay outfit would definitely be fun.

Oh wow, I nearly missed this!

I am really interested in getting an Ondiin... though when I try to select it on the Post MD page, it gives me a "The maximum quantity of ordering is not available" error. I have a feeling that means they're not available anymore :c

 

@Twillow, I think there was only one Ondiin available from the beginning. I'm not familiar with Soom's Post MD events and originally only looked at which sculpts you could order, but it also says the amount of each doll they have available. ):

 

Ahhhh, I see. I'm not too heartbroken, since I'm still getting Rudy I hope whoever got the Post MD sale one(s) comes and shows off here!

 

My Rudy is "Before Shipping", but he's been stuck in that status for nearly a week now. >_> This is my first time ordering from Soom, does their "Before Shipping" status mean the same thing as other companies' "Before Shipping" status, or does it more equate to "Processing"?

 

A couple of us have been marked as "Before Shipping" for the past 2 months. I don't think it means anything to Soom, sadly :c

Yay she's here! I'm going to try to get a quick face up on her before the rain drops in and hopefully post a box opening thread too. She's so cute and tiny. I really wasn't expecting her to be so small, but wow. Probably the smallest size I will ever own.

Pros: Resin is goreous. She's in the brown tan and I absolutely love the color. I love her little sleeping bag and accessory bag too. Really adorable.

Cons: So, I bought the outfit and I must say I'm pretty disappointed. ): One of her leggings were coming apart and for some reason the skirt won't stay down and it sheds SO much. There's a cute small pearly looking ball in the back of her shirt that's supposed to fasten it together, but it doesn't always stay in place so the shirt comes undone pretty easily.

This con is me being a bit nitpicky. For the price I paid, why couldn't Soom have installed the magnets themselves? Maybe I'm spoiled, but I would have preferred the magnets already be in the parts. >.>

@brightberry yeah, I just think the design for the shirt wasn't very well thought out. Those little metal clasps you sometimes see on clothes would have worked much better.

She still needs her parts glued in, but her face is done! I'm surprised how quickly I was able to finish her... My pukifees have been very difficult for me to work on and I've only done 2 out of the five faceplates I've had since October. ;_;

ETA: What brand of superglue (or any glue) is okay to use on dolls to glue magnets? I've looking it up but all I see are "some are" and "some aren't" which doesn't help at all. ;_;

There's more pics of the box opening if you click through to flickr. I glued his magnets, so I'm waiting for them to dry completely before I put him all together. I had a bunch of little stuff that was too small for my PukiFees, and it fits this guy perfectly!

 

Did you guys get a shipping notice e-mail, or did the status in your accounts just quietly change? I figure with the Rudys finally going out that I should get mine shipped soon, but I have no idea when that might be or how this whole process works with Soom.

 

I did get an email saying there was a change in status of my order, and I had to sort of figure out on my own that it was a shipping notice. It had an EMS shipping number.

 

Awww! He's so cute! What size eyes is he wearing and what brand of glue did you use? I plan on going to the store tonight to pick some up and I don't want to get the wrong thing.

 

They're size 10 eyes, from Chocolate Tsang on Etsy (though they took foreeeeever to ship to me).

Just generic superglue. I checked out this tutorial for some tips, skipping down to the inserting magnets bit.

My status has yet to change and I have no gotten an email yet. I did ask Soom and they said it should be shipped on 4/15 at the very latest and can be shipped sooner than 4/15 so fingers crossed!

@Twillow thanks for the advice. I ended up getting some Loctite gel based glue. It worked really well and I didn't have to wait too long for the glue to dry. I'm thinking about beveling my Rudy's (and eventually Leepy's) eyes so they can at least take 12mm Mako eyes.



Now that all of Ferdy's parts have been magnetized, all that's left is to paint her ears and tail (and maybe her antlers).

Regarding the outfit, when someone else gets theirs, can anyone else confirm if they need the tail to keep the back of the skirt down? For me, without the tail, the skirt sticks up in the back. The tail sits it down nice enough, but there's also enough separation between the magnets that the tail sometimes falls off.

Originally I wasn't planning on getting clothes for my Petit Gems, but if Leepy's outfit will be anything like Rudy's in the quality department, they might need some other articles of clothing. ;_; Any suggestions on where to start?

 

Oh wow! The Rudys look so adorable, they make me wish even more that Leepy would ship soon! But that probably won't happen for a while

 

Holy cow, my Rudy left Soom earlier today, well technically yesterday my time but today Korea time, and it's flown back in time through the timezones to arrive in the US already. O_O Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for different package to get out of EMS "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" since March 24. >_>
