Soom Petit Gem Discussion - Part 1

I love Chessy’s face but their ears aren’t to my personal taste. In an ideal world I would put on Ondiin ears on and be good to go.

I did snag the outfit though! I hope I get the black hat.

 

Its good to know that you can get the outfits separately without needing to buy the doll. Like I totally get why you'd want the outfit to be included, but if I got one second hand without an outfit, being able to buy them separately is nice for that scenario c: I'm so excited for my Chessy, and I already have a name for her

 

Placed my order also! I'm not completely smitten by the face though, and I really don't like the ears. But I think with a different make-up and ears, maybe by opening the eyes a little, Chessy could be very cute!! And I have regretted too much not buying Leepy/Ondiin this summer, and then the same with Fosy, so...

 

Oh, I get it now! The Santa hat is a gift for the first 20 orders. My mistake.

I agree about the faceup opportunities @Haibanne . I see a lot of possibilities and I would love to swap the head out for one of my Ondiin. I think I’ll place my tiny kitty hopes back on Fairyland eventually releasing their MeowFee sculpt. (They mentioned MeowFee over a year ago but who knows if they’ll produce it?)

Cheesy is cute, but not a must have. I’m kind of relieved, as I need to save up as I spent too much this year on bjds.

 

Even though I think it's cute, I'm not super into the ears which is fine as I was hoping to not have to buy this one n_n
I can't wait to see owner photos though!

 

It seems we are a lot to not like Chessy's ears! I'm wondering, is trading Petit Gem parts a thing? If I can't manage to sculpt cute ears, I will probably try to trade Chessy's ears with any other kind of Petit ears lol
It's a shame Soom never releases parts separately

 

The face and the ears are a no-go for me. If they'd done the face as an extra I could have ignored the ears, but alas... I'm skipping the release.

 

I'm honestly surprised I like Chessy so much I was surprised by the ears but I honestly like her cute little face c: I plan on doing her faceup when I get her. Maybe changing the position of the eyebrows will give her a more "cute" look when compared to the company faceup eyebrows c:

 

I can see why folks don't like Chessy but I adore her little curled ears and mischievous expression! I recently ordered a second hand Ondiin so I don't have to wait for my first one to be Chessy once she's produced. Regardless I'm so excited to have one of these cuties soon! I really hope they give us another Rudy sometime down the line.

 

My sister and I love Chessy and will be each getting one! We can’t wait to see her in person.

 

I literally only just ordered Chessy last Thursday when she went live... and I'm so impatient :c I keep checking the status. Hopefully the holidays will help distract me.

I’m getting the white and my sister is getting the violet. Which one are you getting? Whichever one you get I would love to see the face up you do (I only get company face ups since I don’t have the skills or patience for doing them myself).

 

@City Kitty i got the light lavender! :3 they were honestly both cute but I liked the purple a little tiny bit more I love the petit gem company face up but I’m also excited to try my own! I’ll defs post pics when i complete her faceup! I hope to see pics of yours when they arrive!

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find an answer after attempting a search: Does anyone here know what size clothing fits Petit Gem?

 

@NekoNyanMew i've seen that 1/12 picco neemo clothes will fit, and obitsu 11 will also fit. there are also people who make clothes for them on instagram i've seen c: anyone please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

Wah sorry I vanished with no updates, life came at me fast and hard...
And it seems as though the magnets were accidentally thrown away when my dad's GF cleaned out the fridge while I was at work... OTL
It has just been one thing after another with my poor ondiin (and other aspects of my life. oof) does anyone know of a US based seller that has the same sized magnets to save on shipping?
I'm bummed out, I've wanted an ondiin ever since they were first revealed and now that I have one I feel like everything is going wrong

 

@AutumnWyvern im not sure of anyone with exact sizes, but I bought magnets from this guys Etsy shop and he is located in Florida. I want to know what everyone’s favorite petit gem is! Mine is definitely the gray silent night Rudy I honestly thought I wouldn’t get one but I managed to and she arrived today! She even has the beautiful company face up :3 I’ve ordered her some eyes and I think I’m gonna name her Winter. It’s simple but i couldn’t think of a better name that expressed the idea I had for her

 

My favorite is Leepy! Such a sweet lil bunny.

 

Mine is Chessy-can’t wait to get mine and see him in person-closely followed by Ondiin.

 

I forgot to add my second favorite Julie. I missed her pre order and am hoping Soom will re release her at some point.

@So.Spice yes, I agree! Only one release, so she should have another. I think at the time the petite gems were being overlooked and now they are super popular. Please Soom, another Julie!

I just found these cuties few days ago (haven't been back in the hobby long and haven't been shopping around till just recently when i finished a doll sale)
An i was heart broken to realize they were soom limiteds.... And scoured all over to find one for sale none... So i posted a wtb. An found one!

I literally love all of the petit gems and want almost all of them lol. I am going to keep my eyes open and stalk soom for the next release! (And hope my yosd sells to fund my search)

Hey everyone, I'm new to BJDs, especially cute, small scale animal dolls. These seem like one of my favorites, though! What are you favorites features about this line?

 

@Veravey probably the overall style and proportions c: i love their body shape and how the faces are designed. they are just so very cute to me!

Also, has anyone that pre-ordered Chessy gotten an email or anything? mine is still "Preparing Shipment" and i guess i thought i'd see some updates by now.

Oh my goodness, I need these dolls in my life, they're too precious!~

 

I am wondering if anyone makes clothes for the petit gems? Or what patterns/clothes will fit them.

I want to get/make a little tunic or tunic jacket for my chessy.
An a little vest or shirt also.

A cute simple dress i could probably wing... But i have very little skill/sewing knowledge so not sure how easy making a tunic or something would be...

 

same i wish i knew artists who make clothes for them, i would throw money at them, i wish i knew how to sew all i can make is props

 

I don't know any makers really... But I do know that Obitsu11 sized clothes fit pretty well! And thus also PukiPuki size I think?

 

looking at the current conversation perhaps i need to break out the sewing machine... though my machine tends to eat up fabric pieces that it deems are too small... I've read a couple of tips on how to avoid that though so we will see! I have a lot of sheer fabric so i want to try to make my own version of the goodbye summer outfit (not quite the same, but a similar idea)
that being said!
After a lot of chaos in my life that i've finally been starting to steer on track I got myself some new magnets in a couple different sizes and managed to get someone's horns and ears all together!



I'm so happy.. what a relief...

 

Soom just announced a Free Choice Petit Gem Event on insta! April 22 to May 6
My wallet is not ready lol. I will try to get one though, but I'm not sure which one...
For those interested, what would be your choice?
(I'm wondering if we will be able to mix and match )

 

What does the free choice event mean?

 

Usually, there's a selection of heads and a selection of bodies and you choose what you want. Like this for example: [Free Choice] Little Gem - Tawny - The Gem
I've never seen one for Petit gem so I don't exactly know how it will be going.

 

oh!! thats pretty cool c: I'll have to check it out when it goes live I'm not sure I'll get one though, but it sounds like alot of fun!

 

They got more info up on their Weibo; included in this FCE are Ondiin, Leepy, Rudy, Julie, and Meipy. Ondiin and Leepy have the choice of either basic or dreaming heads, or both. Peony white is the only colour listed, sadly.

Prior FCEs had the rule that you can't re-create a doll exactly as it has been released before, but since none of the Petit Gems listed have been released in peony white before this shouldn't be a problem this time around! I remember having to order two Mega Gems, switching their heads upon arrival, and selling one to get my hands on a full Captain Hook in grey skin.

Might go for Julie in this FCE because I just love poodles!

Oh no, I've been hoping for a re-release for like, most of the ones they're doing for this free choice event lol. I'm in trouble hahaha, but I think I'm definitely going to get Julie. I've been eyeing her since I first found out about petite gems.

 

Definitely getting a Julie! She has been on my must have list since I missed her. So happy! Another one off my list.

All those mix and match options got me going wild, now I got 6 little ones incoming and only one is... regular :,D

 

I'm loving the free choice options!! But I really shouldn't buy one right now. The combinations look so fun! Their defaults are all so cute too. I've had my eye on Oondin for a while, so we'll see!

I'm curious what option combinations people are going for other than standard ones?

 

I'm thinking about getting an Ondiin with the Julie tail and Leepy ears. Actually, if anyone here owns both can you swap the ears just so I can see what they look like? I'm worried big ears might interfere with Ondiin's horns or wings.

 

I'm tempted by a wingless Ondiin with Meipy's head.

 

Oh no, I'm so tempted. I would love a dragon, pup & a bunny except then I'd need both the sleepy bunny and normal....I'm thinking mini dolls for my earth crew. Happy Earth Day, all!
