SOOM Monthly Doll December (Sagittarius) the Third Land: Heliot God Master

Humans (or humanoids) that have animal characteristics added to them (such as a pointy-eared human with a narwhal horn and horse hooves, as Heliot is) are properly called zoomorphs.

 

Zoo tis! Complete with whale/horse men! Anyways he was down to about 10 left earlier tonight, but then they added a bunch mroe and now about 45 are shown available.

 

I just did a marketplace search on Heliot and counted the split threads. Right now there's 20 of them!

He is so gorgeous.... But I would love to see some unphotoshopped pictures of him. T.T Right now the brightness is so high its difficult to see much. o.O I asked soom about it and they completely misunderstood my question lolz. xD

 

You know, I never thought of that, but he is isn't he? That really helps actually as I was trying to describe him to myself to get the characterisation started but "unicorn" and "Pegasus" just didn't fit. He isn't either of those. Yes, he is a chimaera (although not a classical one, which was a monstrous mixture of lion and goat and heaven knows what else. Ours is much prettier). Thank you!

I'm a bit sad that they aren't cloven hooves since unicorns are supposed to have them having initially been based closer to deers and goats what with the smaller, slight bodies and goat beard.
It's rather obvious that they just used the cloven hoofs though and took out the er.. clove xD I would have to mod if back in if I got him.

But that means I will likely resist him easier.

 

I agree about the over-saturated photos, I'd love to see his face better.

Does anyone know if the horse parts will fit on a super gem female body? I remember reading something about someone switching Sard's and Beryl's around but I can't find the post now.

I photoshopped up a couple of the pictures last night. I wanted to see more detail. I don't care for the oversaturated pictures either.

Agreed. When I asked for clearer pictures of his hooves like in the Sard/Beryl threads, Soom replied that his hooves weren't like Sard's hooves. Erm, not quite what I asked

 

does he have a long purple tipped piece of hair going down his back??? i was playing with the lighting in some pictures trying to see if i could spot anything interesting and it looks like his wig is long in the back maybe

 

look its in your picture too! see that purple going down his side in front of his arm? thats not part of the dress thing is it?

Wow, he's so popular .___. *mutters to self* can't believe he has his first sold-out in just one day.

Interesting discovery with the wig =0 look how it comes from behind his neck.. it definitely doesn't look like part of the outfit, to me.

For some reason, his human head looks to me like a smaller Sabik with a less prominent chin, which I always wished there was! (Maybe I'm imagining it >.>) Actually the Sabik-y effect only comes from the first picture, of his romantic head looking straight at the camera... in the rest of them he looks completely different and unique! But he also has the beautiful features of some of the other MDs. Moldwise, I like him best out of all the MDs >< I actually liked the oldest Soom monthlies more than I liked most of the Zodiac dolls, pretty as they are, and didn't really expect it to be different with this one, so that was a surprise.. and that faceup, too! Look at the pretty colors o-o I seriously considered getting in on a split for a little while, for the human head... but decided against it eventually. T'would take forever for me to get him a body >< So, no pretty fluffy unicorn-man for me, but I get to watch them all come in in a few months...

...aaand there are certainly going to be a LOT O.O

 

Oooh, that does look like one of those hybrid, "fiber wefts sewn into fur" wigs. Very cool in and of itself, but the colors are lovely! (Assuming those aren't coming from the lighting somewhere!)

Actually, the best place to see that there is fiber wig hair coming from the fur wig, is in the first three pictures on his page.
Just under the "e" in Heliot in the first picture, then the second picture, just by his right cheek, you can see the long strands. And then by now obviously in the third picture, you can see the fiber going up behind his chin on our right.

Ah... I have been contemplating since the day Heliot was released. But heck! I simply cannot resists him! So yes... bought him in full set with make up for both heads and body painting.
So now comes the waiting.... =="

Oh yes! PLease let us know, that's one thing I'd like for mine too. The image looks like it was just frosted in some places and blue glow energy effects were photoshopped in, but I'd love to have that kind of blue hazed on it in airbrush myself.

 

Think they might re-open his orders? I was travelling home last night and he was for sale...when I come back ready to buy him he's gone. Dream doll aswell

 

in the past, when the MD doll has gone out of stock, they "usually" open it back up 3 or 4 times, this is the second time he has gone out of stock, i think you still have a chance!

 

I'm hoping they reopen too, as I've been dithering and can't decide whether or not I wants him! And when he's got "sold out" on him I only want him more! >_<

Gees, do they announce when they will re-open orders or do you just have to keep stalking the site? I've missed him twice due to the holidays....

 

just keep stalking Soom, they usually re-stock the same day i would say maybe 8-12 hours? but just a guess.

 

If you can swing it, I would get him, and decide later. You can always sell him later if you end up not wanting to keep him, but you'll most likely have to pay more to buy him second hand, and hope that the seller is selling all the parts you are interested in later on. Plus, it's just a bit more of a hassle, IMHO, to watch the sale threads and hope you can beat all the others that will want one later to him.

This is pretty quick for them doing a second run "out of stock" ! I wonder if this is one that will be sold out prior to the end date for the MD.

They do restock until the last date.

The 3-4 times quoted in the previous post was based on the sale-out rate of the Sard and Euclause. If this boy turns out to be even more popular than those two they will re-stock more times and may even be more quantities each time.

However, due the long wait, some people may want to buy earlier

 

OMG, sold out AGAIN O-O I bet Soom keeps restocking him until the end of the period and then there are seventeen million Heliots running around DoA, hooray! XD ...alright, I do seriously think they will restock him more than 3-4 times if he keeps selling out like this, but seventeen million is probably a bit much ><; seriously, if you were Soom, and there were sufficient demand for Heliot, you wouldn't hold back on the restocks, would you?

Here my .02 to make four I sure would try for him, because on the second hand market they tend to be quite pricey, and then you run into the risk of parts selling and making your own. I've noticed just the doll and nothing else can run you just as much for the fullset. I ran across one doll I wanted for my hubby, and I decided on Heiot instead because I am putting out 1300.00 for his total fullset and the blank doll without anything was $1800.00, no faceup, no clothing, just the blank doll!!

 

If so many people are buying him and Soom is making enough Heliots to fill the demand, wouldn't that make the second hand market cheaper? I've been trying to decied if I should buy him or wait for 2nd hand. I'm not all that crazy about him, except for that glorious head

 

In their site, they always have the ominous This period could be closed earlier then noticed time message listed at the bottom of the Monthly Dolls pages. I'm wondering how they decide on whether to close it early or not. Or if that's just to scare people into buying in a hurry

 

Yes, it's something I've always wondered too, LOL! I think they must have a 'master number' in mind for how many of this monthly doll they can supply without totally killing themselves. Say, a hundred thousand people want to order this doll. They know they couldn't meet a hundred thousand orders without losing quality control and timeliness. So they may have a number that, if they pass it, they'll say 'that's enough' and end the period. I don't recall seeing that with any doll previously. If we don't get to that point with Heliot, I'm not sure what it would take. LOL!

And this is his third sellout, not his second (on the second day of his sale he was down to 3 left, and then back up to 50 before I went to bed that night, so I know they were over 100 then, and now another sellout, that looks to be 150 sold. Astounding!

But I have a quick question, since I'm blind and I can't find the information anywhere. XD But does anyone know what size wig does he wear? I assuuume the same size as their supergems...but since I'm not getting the wig he comes with, I want to start looking for one. c:

 

Would assume it's the same sized wig as the other monthly dolls/ super gems. Mine all wear 8-9 Monique Gold

I literally sent soom an EXTRA NICKEL .... because I was panicked that I might have written the amount down wrong? ... what if it was too late when I was ordering on the soom screen? what if it was too early when I checked my confirmation?? .................. arrrrrrghhhhhhhhh.... i thought: WHAT IF THE AMOUNT IS WRONG BY A NICKEL and they don't send my poodle DOLLIE ?????

I'd be careful of waiting for the second hand market, my roomies and I paid through the nose to get a Sard cause we didn't get one first hand....while yea there COULD be a chance he'll be lower on the second hand market, but there is also the chance he'll go for twice the price like Sard and Beryal....
I agree with aernath, buy him now (maybe keep the head you like) and sell the rest or sell the whole thing if you don't dig him. ....just safer I think.

 

... i agree with Achsfan........... even when i tease that there will be a BILLION of them .... i believe that they will not go LOWER in price......... and ... the big problem is that they will trade higher.... and...... on the secondary market one would be purchasing one which has been 'messed with' .

so... that's exactly what i did: decide to buy him from soom ... pick MY head and MY parts.... and... off and away goes the rest............... no matter how frustrating it is trying to obtain a doll from soom.... the secondary market is FAR more PAINFUL and DISAPPOINTING. .... watch for the restock ... and BUY him.

 

faeriegirl, if you are having serious doubts about him, i would not be so quick to plop down $1000-plus for a doll that you are not crazy about. that being said, if you are thinking that you "will" want to buy him second hand, that isn't the best strategy in my opinion. how about a split for the parts of him that you "do" like?

 

faeriegirl, I'm gonna jump on the 'buy him now' advice wagon. The second hand market is unforgiving when it comes to these hooved dolls, I nearly cried when I missed Sard and found out average price second hand is near $1800

Plus Heliot will probably be just as bad as there'll probably be a lot of competition between those who may have missed out the order period. You can always sell the parts you don't want
