Being as i've always loved vampires - i agree he is fabulous And i loved TC in that movie - he was great (i also agree with the resemblance)...now i have to find a name for him...

 

One of my friends is getting him to be Asher, and mine will be Jean-Claude. If were not careful we will have the Guilty Pleasures crew. Anita Blake books for those who don't know.

 

Oh I used to love the AB books...but after the first half-dozen or so, yeah, the wheels came off for me, like a male harem, but I used to love that series! He'll make an excellent Asher from what I remember, but will you be, er, customizing the face and body? Or did they work that out in the series afterward?

And, er, have they gone back to the cool supernatural mysteries and zombie stuff, or is just pretty much Anita and the guys still? I apologize for the OT stuffs, LOL!

Hm there are a few vampires I could probably turn this handsome boy into, though it might be a stretch for some. There's Abel from Trinity Blood (just plop a silver wig on him) or human Hugue. There's also Charley or Johnny from Vassalord, but again a stretch. Both faces have so much innocence and sweetness to it, especially the human version. Yeah I think the vampire face isn't that scary lol. To me he seems really lonely.

 

That's why he matches my Ulqui (AS Van) so well! They are both kind of lonely! now i have to go sell off some junk i have on ebid

Have you all seen SOOM's Q&A Board? It's filled with questions about Gluino... o_o Literally.

 

Is anyone else having issues getting the Soom site to load at all? (Can't get the main page, the Idealian page, the gem page.. nothing) I've tried Firefox and IE I wanted to look at my options of getting him, since I looked yesterday and fell head over heals in love, but now I can't get anything to load

Probably not him - My poor Elf Sabik (if he comes home in time) i was thinking of making the guardian of the loft when we have Halloween parties...the dollies have their own Halloween party and our guests always want to touch the dolls (and for some, spill their drinks on them) so i always put a little gate in the entry....and i was thinking Sabik would make a great Gandalf: YOU CANNOT PASSSSSS!

im having the same damn issue ._. i wanted to calculate a layaway for Ivory but i cant acces doll soom at all -__- i even cleared my cache!

 

I'm having issues loading the Soom site as well..............I got in fine on Friday, but yesterday and today I can't get it to load at all.

 

How odd! I've had no issue getting to Soom in the last day, just was over there looking at my layaways. So I went and tried a quick ping to Soom, which failed, but that may merely mean they're blocking ping (a sensible thing to do over the internet anyway). So I tried a tracert for dollsoom.com, and I was able to get to 123.111.5.46 before it started timing out. Soom's IP looks to be 118.219.234.74.

Best short-term bet is to check and see if it's accessible a) from another computer that hasn't been to Soom in a few days, or b) from another computer using a different ISP. For a few weeks early this year I wasn't able to get to Den of Angels of all thngs from home because an interim router was failing. But Soom is definitely working for someone at least!

Sadly I tried this My boyfriend's computer wouldn't load it either... I'm a little bummed since I cleared my cache, but that didn't help it just keeps timing out. I really want to try to get this guy but I won't be able to figure out what I can do if the site doesn't even load

My computer will not load Soom right now either, which is really strange. It hasn't worked for a few days

 

Mine either, i tried the cache thing. I am trying to get replacement parts for aother soom doll so this is not good. I dont understand why it works for some but not others...

 

I've got the same problem too now a couple of day. The website won't load either, but through a proxy server (with using Tor) the website loads without any problems.

 

I'm having the same problem which is frustrating the hell out of me since I have a GO ending in a couple of days! Bah!

I'll keep trying, and I'll find a computer that works one way or another even if I have to use the ancient ones at the library

 

Thanks for the note on Tor, Sint! I used that, and it worked...slowed down the loading of course, but at least I was able to get all the Soom sites to open. Hope this weird connection thing gets fixed soon *crosses fingers*

 

Its working fine for me. I use Google Chrome, maybe that might help?

 

Your welcome WillowRain ^^ I had to turn off the plugin blocking in Tor or else I couldn't use the menu in Soom. (Now official I hate flash menus XD)

@VictorianWinter: With me it is in my Internet connection. Even trying to ping (making connection without a browser) to the IP adress of the soom site, it couldn't came through. It is possible, but I hope not, that some of our IPs are blocked somehow.

I have now problem accessing Crobidoll too. >.> But anyway the Proxyserver did work ^^

I wasn't able to get Pangen either, and I'm upset about it. I will be able to get this guy though. I can't wait. If there's a werewolf, that would be amazing. I bet he would be tan skin.

 

My wallet cringes already in anticipation of a werewolf in this series. I hope it won't be next, though, as the whimpering wallet -- yeesh, that sounds like something from the Potterverse, 'The Whimpering Wallet of Soom' -- needs time to recover.

I have a major werewolf weakness. Horror-themed stuff trumps fantasy stuff, even, for me. In all seriousness, I do hope Soom does more vampires -- I am liking their take on the look very much. I've found many of the other interpretations a bit, well, cute. I like the Dollmore series for 'feral' vampires -- for something more brutal and bestial -- and Soom's interpretation of the concept here as the elegant and aristocratic style of vampire, and both are popular in fiction/media/etc. I really hope they do some female vampires, also, in a scale appropriate to match this guy, even if it is a year or more off. Heck, if they said they'd do it in 2-3 years, I would happily, patiently wait with the giddy glee of a kid on Christmas morning. I am more than happy to wait for ages if needs be. *laugh* (The wallet would like this, in fact.) Really hoping that some day there will be females in this series -- even in the distant future.

 

Maybe female IDs will come after these guys. There are 5 IDs in this serie, if I'm not mistaken? ^^ Gluino is the third. Two more to go~ and then we might see some girls. Women... XD Big women.

I'd love werewolves, too! (_ _) But that means fantasy parts would be involved... and that means problems for the walletses.

 

I think there was a year or so between Sabik (first MA) and Vega (first girl MA), so that might happen. It might be longer, though, if it happens at all, since I don't know how many Brannons or Pangens sold. Brannon I would have bought if he'd been released at a more convenient time (read: "on a non-large MD month when they were already getting my money"). Hopefully the positive response to Gluino will help bolster this series, which seems to have had a rockier start than it deserves -- twice, technically! -- since the sculpts really are quite extraordinary, the concept is interesting, the costuming is fantastic... I really can't say enough good things about this line, seriously. A 68-70cm girl as a counterpart to the Idealian males (and MegaGem boys) would be spectacular, though. Even if they did something like that as a 'MegaGem female' I'd be a happy camper.

Fantasy werewolf parts in this scale would be... well, unless they somehow screwed up royally, I think it would be truly amazing. The bulkier, more muscled body seems to be more 'werewolf' to me than the wiry, slender body -- I tend to think of werewolves as the big bruiser sorts. So they could really blow us away with something like that.

 

I'm screwed... This will probably be the only lost opportunity I will realy regret. The only check coming up before the 11th is for rent and bills, so that's it for me. Sad considering this is the only doll thus far that I have realy fell head over heals for...

 

I haven't been able to get into the Soom website for a few days. Tried IE, Chrome, dialup and 3 computers....no luck.

Today....FINALLY....got in with Chrome to place an order for this lovely vampire.

Wow! Soom has created another star - a new Vampire. Interestingly, he looks more aristocratic (rock star) Vampire and not just a Vampire stereotype, or repeat. The attention to details and the all-over aristrocratic style of Gluino is strikingly handsome.
By the name "Gluino" he is an Italian (Venice?) Aristrocrat?
He certainly will make the resin female angels quake when he is around.
My resin bjd girls drool over Gluino, but the males say "No!"
Doesn't Gluino look like he could make his star as a movie actor?

I think he looks like a stereotypical vampire. It's pretty common for old-world vampires to be presented with this image in both novels and movies....at least for the past 40-50 years? The "rock star vampires" (is there more than one?) didn't create this look; they just copied it.

He's not my type at aaaaall but he's desperately wanting to come home with me! There's something about that open mouth, small curved fangs, and full set of upper teeth (dolly dentures!) that really appeals to me. I'm plotting how I can afford Volks' Charlotte AND a Gluino. This is such bad timing!

My boys are pretty indifferent to him but my Sd13 girl's eyes are sparkling more than normal.

Werewolves are sexy and if they create a werewolf, I'd have to have him.

 

Ahhhhh Soom, why!? "The August MD will be late this month." Now how am I supposed to decide between Gluino and the new MD? T_T Hope we at least get a teaser before Gluino goes off sale.

 

Well, on the up side, for those of us in layaway land, it can be something of a help. I'm going to put in my order for Gluino on the 3rd of 4th -- all based around when I get paid. So payments will start in August rather than July, really. The other MD, if he's a winner, can technically be ordered in early September most likely, which could at least stagger things a little bit for people who want/need it and decide to get both.

 

Not. Good. Hopefully the next MD won't be something I like. (_ _) Err... Even on a layaway. I have far too many layaways at the moment. I won't live until the end of the year if I put something else on layaway... (_ _) And why a whole new month before the next MD? >.> Silt and Keny ends today, right? So no more MD until late August? >.> That's... unlike Soom.

 

I think its because soom is overloading themselves with work. I don't know if all their separate divisions are the same work place, but they have waay too many monthlies for them to be released on time. I think soom might slowly be getting over their heads. *Just hopes it something she doesn't like either X3*

 

Barring a miracle, I think I may end up just naming the gremlin-free computer I had to order today Gluino. It will dull the pain if I can't pull a proper miracle out of my hindquarters to cover the payment on it AND him, and odds are pretty epic against that happening. (Admittedly, I am very relieved I was waiting until the paycheck on him now, seriously. Yeesh.)

I'm a life-long mac user, so it's even worse. Thankfully, we got financing. I was looking at a very high end system for the end of the year, but there's no waiting for that, and a custom iMac is going to have to do.

I'm still on the fence looking at this way over the top price Gluino. I just can't decide weither or not to get him. He is so fabulous! I started at him until brain damage set in. I must not have blinked for minutes!

Sooms creations are great. But I wished the price was a bit more within reach. So if I did get him, then I would have to do the face up myself. Denver doll has some really cool eyes and wigs, so I would save there.

And then there is the layaway, which is a good idea anyway because the doll doesn't arrive right away anyway, so by the time I get the layaway finished off, then he should be ready to ship. They are telling me hoping for 80 days more like 100.

Then another thing to consider, is I have a Fairyland Woo Soo vampire elf that is very protective over me

Oh dear!!!! I think I need help in deciding here guys!!!!!! I'm planning on this guy to be a take along if I did get him.

 

I love him sincerely, but I have to say, it's gotta be your call. It usually helps me if I just find my thoughts drawn to a doll when I'm doing random things through the day, or if I dream about a doll it's a good sign. Tons of dolls look good, but if you're not capturing my attention completely, I'm probably not going to plonk money down on you, LOL! ^ ^

I'm getting better at buying limited dolls before their period runs out however, LOL! I got so many Soom dolls after their sell date through lucky cancellations...whew! Less stress buying them straight out, believe me!

Yea...I dreamt of him last night lol. So I think it was a good choice for me to buy him lol. Plus I know if I were to miss him I'd be kicking myself.

But like what Heidipay said, it is your call X3 Like, can you afford to spend the money? Will there be a huge fight with your other dolls? (I'm sure with this one they'll definitely be jealous!) If you're into photography, will you be taking pics of him non-stop? (I sure will! LOL) Does your heart flutter when you think about the box opening, and how excited you'd be to see him? I would say yes, get him, but thats my opinion XD

Of course worse case scenario is that you and him don't click when you get him. (Which I think would be hard to do ) You can always sell him in the market I guess? I think for me this guy will be with me foreverr~ so I can't even think of doing that x_x

I just got his base with eyes (I'm doing a split with his wig) I would LOVE to get his clothes but then I wouldn't be able to get him. I (Thats more money then what I've put aside for dollies) I can do the faceup/bodyblushing myself too.
