Amazing! I had a lot of contact with them as I had ordered a custom face up. They responded quickly. Took a change I wanted to make with no problem and encouraged me to ask questions about my order at anytime.

* How easy was it to pay?
Paypal, simple.

* How long did it take to ship?
2 Months.

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
Expensive with those options but it was my choice and he is worth every penny. *hugs him*

* Did the item look like the sales pictures?
Well not really as I order a custom face up but his mould and body are even more beautiful than the pictures. In terms of does he look like my custom picture? Yes and 20,000 times more amazing. The detail in is beard is the work of a true professional artist.

* Were you satisfied with the product?
Only about a Million percent! They even peirced his ear for me.

* If you weren't satisfied, how did the company solve your problem?
Oh I am believe me.

* Would you order from this company again?
Yes. I'm currently saving for my second custom Super Gem with blushing. The first one was so perfect. I HIGHLY recommend them.

* Would you buy this company's products second-hand?
I don't have a need too but I can't see why not.

Heliot Monthly Doll

* When did you order?
29th December 2008 on two-part layaway. Paid off 28th January 2009

Direct.

* How was the communication?
No problems there. They responded quickly to enquiries on the Q&A board. However, internal communication seems to be a bit of a mess as I was told on the Q&A board that my order would be shipped in a week when it had in fact already been shipped that day.

* How easy was it to pay?
No problem paying by Paypal.

* How long did it take to ship?
Ah yes. That one. Five months, and I was one of the lucky ones who seemed to have jumped the queue.

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
Hm. One leg part was not drilled through, meaning that I could not attach his hooved legs. Half of both heads was rough and lumpy, which would really scupper a good faceup. I was able to smooth them out with a microabrasive, but would have wished that I didn't have to do that. Also, the upper part of the torso piece (it is a strange hoop-shaped bit that fits inside the torso) was not attached and will have to be stuck on with superglue. Also, the OE head had a miscats mouth, with an extra bit of resin that could not be removed easily. Also, part of the outfit was missing. I also ordered some jointed hands and some boots that Soom kindly agreed to add to the order. However, they forgot to include the hands, which were to be for that doll.

* Did the item look like the sales pictures?
Yes, although it is often diffiuclt to see what the product will actually look like from Soom's heavily-Photoshopped pictures.

* Were you satisfied with the product?
The product is lovely. A beautiful sculpt, as ever. However, the mistakes with my order and the blips in the doll were not what I would expect from a manufacturer of expensive, luxury goods.

* If you weren't satisfied, how did the company solve your problem?
They responded quickly to my messages on the Q&A board and sent the hands immediately. I have returned the undrilled leg and OE head, which they have replaced, as well as the wings. They refunded my postage into my Paypal account.

* Would you order from this company again?
I would have to be really, really taken with a monthly doll to order another one. If nothing else, the unreasonably long wait sort of takes the edge of it.

* Would you buy this company's products second-hand?
Yes, if they didn't attract such stratospheric prices!

Was shipped with 2 left hooves (fixed that by trading with a DOA member who received 2 right hooves) and one of the God Hands was not drilled, so I had to send it back. Currently awaiting the arrival of the fixed hand (Soom did let me know they received the defective and are sending my new one shortly)

Perhaps, if they figure out a way to better deal with the massive amounts of orders from MDs

Her legs were strung very loose and there was some detail missing from the custom face up but I'm overall happy with her. *hugs her* I think if you're buying an expensive doll they should take time for the little things.

Well not really as I order a custom face up but her body is even more beautiful than the pictures, with the blushing. In terms of does she look like my custom picture? Yes but there was some detail missing. I requested brown eyes shadow beneath her eyebrows and her cheeks to have a pink blush both were sadly not put onto the doll. But she still looks great. I think the reason they missed out details was because they were trying to ship her out fast, I would sooner of had them work on her a little long than rush her and ship out fast though.

Yes. Though some of the custome detail wasn't present, they still did a really good job on her.

But my main problem was getting dates for shipping and then dates would pass and still no doll. Was told 3 different dates and then on 4th was told August 21st but discovreed doll was shipped on August 7th. Never got an email. If I hadn’t gone to see would not have known.

* How was the communication? - Communications with Soom have always been pleasant for me. Whenever I post a question on the Q&A board, Jin Lee usually gets back to me within 24 to 48 hours.

* How easy was it to pay? - Paid with Paypal, so it was easy.

* How long did it take to ship? - As I had my dolls on a two month layaway (but I finished paying them off within two weeks instead of a month), it probably sped up my order a little when it came to shipping them out. In total, including weekends, it took almost 5 months as my dolls were shipped on the 23rd of July 09.

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion? - Yes, my Glot and Glati arrived seams-free even though I didn't pay for seam sanding. Their face ups were gorgeous as well.

* Did the item look like the sales pictures? - The face ups did, yes.

* Were you satisfied with the product? - I was, save for a slight problem. One of my dolls were shipped to me with two left hands.

* If you weren't satisfied, how did the company solve your problem? - I reported the problem to Soom and Jin Lee requested for me to send the left hands back to them. As soon as they received the hands, they shipped (via EMS) the a correct pair of hands to me. All in all, it took a little over two weeks for the problem to be corrected, but that was mostly because of the postal service being slow =__=

As expected: I received an email with the order confirmation, and an email with a shipping notice when the order shipped. I did not use the Q&A, so I can't comment on it.

Very easy. I outlined the terms of the layaway in my order, and just sent a Paypal payment when each installment was due.

How long did it take to ship?
Order shipped August 18th, 2009. I was prepared for a long wait, so I did not find the long wait time unacceptable. Once shipped, the box arrived within two days.

Very much so... Glot is absolutely adorable and worth every penny.

Yes, to an extent. I am aware that the MD sales pics are highly overworked and photoshopped, but the doll does look as expected. The tights are very well-made and even better than the sales pics!

Mostly yes. Doll was fine, although one hoof leg was slightly over-sanded on the locking joint so it is a little kicky. The optional feather wing is rather fragile for the fitted pins to hold so I will likely have to improvise another mounting method.

Excellent, as all questions I left on the Q&A board were answered promptly, and all payment receipts were acknowledged promptly. As well, they allowed me to pay late on a couple of Glati's layaway payments when I politely asked if I could.

Very easy.

Well... we're talking MDs in both cases, which are notoriously long shipping times. Both arrived in August, making a shipping time of roughly 6 months for Amber and 5 from ordering/2 from payment for Glati. (I do believe my Glati was mistakenly shipped early, as many who paid before me were/are still waiting at this time, so your mileage may vary.)

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
When compared to dolls of similar size, I believe they are surprisingly appropriately priced for an LE model. They are both quite lovely.

* How was the communication? - Good as always. Jin Lee always got back to me within 24 hours whenever I asked about my Skoll.

* How long did it take to ship? - A little over the four month's mark, but more or less on-time according to the Soom shipping schedule. I'm very happy my Skoll shipped as early as it did, because all other Soom dolls I've bought in the past usually suffered delays of some sort or another.

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion? - Absolutely. My Skoll's face up is beautifully done and while the doll does have seams (I didn't order seam sanding), it's not horribly sharp and obvious seams like the kind I got on my Sabik Elf ~.~

Quick Responces, but I would've liked mroe honest and accurate shipping dates.

* How easy was it to pay?
Very easy, via paypal.

* How long did it take to ship?
I asked for a three month layaway, but paid him off March 18th. I did this because on the Q&A I was told layaway goods were shipped when payment was recieved. This was inaccurate, but perhaps they didn't realise I was refering to an MD order. They actually shipped 24th June, which was pretty quick by comparison to others, who had to wait six months plus.

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
No. I was annoyed not only to have to glue in the magnets myself and therefor not handle either head for a few hours (not patient with new dolls!), but also that the resin itself was dusty or rough in various places on his body and his open eyed head. I would have paid the price for a complete doll, but the fact I had to repair him made him feel like a kit doll.

* Did the item look like the sales pictures?
I feel like his features were exaggerated due to over-photoshopping, but not enough to complain about. I do like his nice manly nose, which was too over-exposed in the sales pics to get a really good view of.

* Were you satisfied with the product?
Yes and no. As I said before, he was very much like a kit doll, as I had to glue in his magnets, plus dissassmble him so that I could sand out all the rough areas and clean off the large amount of resin dust. I also later had to cut out some excess resin in one of his hooves as although it was drilled through, there was a rough, undrilled piece near the foot that caught on the elastic and shredded it.

* If you weren't satisfied, how did the company solve your problem?
I mentioned it, but I fixed the doll myself, so it was just an expression of oppinion rather than asking for fixing though. I do believe they now glue in the magnets however.

* Would you order from this company again?
I would prefer not to if I can help it. As pleasant as they are, the wait times are beyond excessive at this point (I'm currently on my seventh month on a Glot and Glati) and the product I recieved was rushed and unfinished. I won't shy away completely though, as the dolls are beautiful and over-priced in the second-hand market. With this new delivery guarentee system, I might take the risk though.

Most definately, for the right price. In fact, I am buying a Cuprit head and several other parts as soon as I can!

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion? some pieces were a little rough on the seam lines, others great. would be my only complaint about the dolls really. so i'd say it's not to bad.
* Did the item look like the sales pictures? sometimes looked better other times looked worse. i personally found glot cuter in pictures than in real life. the heliot outfit though was a major disapointment and the only thing i'd say was over priced and out of context in look.
* Were you satisfied with the product? very in the pieces that i got minus the heliot outfit it was sad.
* If you weren't satisfied, how did the company solve your problem? though i was satified i did have a few issues with my heliot order, 2 outfits were missing a head had a very strange crack in it, i had a broken hand and missing one faceup (all things i added after the order was placed on the q&a) but they were very nice to credit me for missing items and promtly replaced broken ones with out needing to to return the broken ones to them first. i very much appercated that.

They could have used a slightly better system in the foot connections rubber plug/hook maybe?) as I've managed to scratch the area around the hole, in the hole, a bit fighting with such strong elastic.
* Did the item look like the sales pictures? Yes, I feel this was one of the LEAST photoshopped lot of pics they have done (what is with them and bumping the contrast of pictures full of white so much?)

* How was the communication?
Jin Lee was really polite and he (or she?) answered my inquiries within a day or two. What I didn't like was the fact that Soom gave me 3 fake shipping dates. The original shipping date they announced on the site was 2nd week of July. The first time I inquired, they said it would be delayed to August 24. Then they shifted it to September 30 and finally October 9.

* How easy was it to pay?
I did it on a layaway that was supposed to last for 4 months but I ended up finishing it 9 days after I ordered.

* How long did it take to ship?
They shipped it 201 days after they confirmed my payment. I was able to get my doll at the Soom Harajuku store on October 10, 2009. Almost 7 months.

* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
Yes and no. I bought the full set so the price bloated. The resin quality, faceup, body blushing, outfit and hair were wonderful. However, I'm not happy with the engineering of his joints (especially if compared with Fairyland Littlefee joints). The legs are really kicky and I couldn't bend it in angles less than 90/180 degrees. Putting the hooves should have made the balancing easier but it actually made things worse because the balance mostly depends on the edges of the thighs and legs so those areas were very prone to chipping. I think I would have to restring and wire my doll to make him sturdy, otherwise he will be sitting for the rest of his life. I was also a bit annoyed with the fact that they didn't put the magnets on the doll. I was stupid enough to glue one of the head magnets in the wrong polarity so I had to wait for more than a day so I could put one of the horns on his head. In the end, I used plasticina to keep the magnets in place.

* Did the item look like the sales pictures?
Yes.

* Were you satisfied with the product?
Yes and no. The product was kinda okay. The waiting time was definitely horrible. Add to it the fact that I finished paying earlier but there are people who paid later but received their packages earlier.

* Would you order from this company again?
I already have (September MD Sphaer). I'm a sucker for mythical/fantasy-themed dolls which currently Soom specializes on.

Most probably. I'm not filthy rich to be able to afford all monthly dolls during their ordering period.

 

This was my feedback that I left for the receipt of my beautiful doll, that I just learned last night, Was not a Fir, the faceplate was Marquerite.
I have posted a new message, after several tries, to their message board. I will update here, hopefully, as to how they will correct this situation.

Not too happy at the moment, I will remain optimistic with this Company.

Honestly, I think I will not be, partly because I only want one of their dolls, partly because of the poor customer service.

Note I have purchased from Soom before, a couple of years ago, and had a wonderful transaction with extremely fast shipping. However with recent changes and rapid increase in company activity without sufficient increase in infrastructure Soom seems unable to meet demand in either production or customer support. I do hope the company evens out and gets back to the service I have experienced from them in the past, however I doubt I will order anything more from them any time soon.

So far, they have not. I was told to send the defective items back (at my own expense), which means Soom is basically holding the correct parts hostage until I pay to correct their mistake.

12/1 UPDATE: When I did receive a replacement box from them, it contained a blank doll head, which was meant to be shipped to someone else. They then wanted me to pay AGAIN to send this item back that never should've been sent to me in the first place. I still have not received my correct parts, and will be filing a dispute with my credit card company if this is not corrected by Friday.

I was satisfied with the product for the most part. Their customer service is what I was not satisfied with. They should not volunteer promises they will not keep.

First recieved a foot piece which miss-drilled so the S-Hook can slip through (and his leg came apart and foot pieces fell to the floor. Luckily no parts broke). Mailed back the foot piece (with a copy of my shipping receipt, phone number, email address, and paypal information in the box).

I inquired about my foot about 8 days later and was told my foot was not received.(when I had actually received a new problematic foot the day before at my work... I was out of the office that day)

The new foot 's hole was not drilled far enough down and the S-Hook sticks out of the bottom of his foot. I contact SOOM and they said that the sticking out S-Hook cannot be counted as a flaw and that I would get my refund in a week (after they had said they would refund my money upon receiving the first foot).

I messaged back with a long, well thought out response of my dis-agreement with their customer service and that I would not be purchasing from them or promoting their company/products again.

They jumped up to my QA, read it and refunded my shipping fee within minutes. But there has been no further response from them.

No, and I wouldn't recommend it to other people.

Maybe, if the person selling it was in need of the money. Luckily I have all of my dream dolls from the company for the most part.

Yes. The faceup is skillfully done. Doll is nicely strung. Resin color, accessories of the doll are breath taking. I was so amazed, I forgot to take lunch.

The last finger on the right hand of the doll was broken but I contacted Soom and they sent a replacement really quickly.

No, he looked much much BETTER!!!

Very good, although slow during the website design. They always got back to me though.

Very easy, I used Paypal in both cases. I have no experience with their new way of payment however.

After layaway, which I think ended in late August 2009, it was about a month and a half, with 2 days for actual shipping/After layaway, which ended on January 16th (in 2010), they were shipped January 19th!
* Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
These were both of amazing quality. While restringing, I dropped my Amber. Her ears stayed intact, though two of her fingers broke. She was wearing her normal hands, so it was okay.
* Did the item look like the sales pictures?
They look even better! The Amber looks so majestic, and the Bygg and Beyla look downright adorable~ I can't even put the twins away, they're just too precious!
* Were you satisfied with the product?
Very much so. They are exactly what I wanted, and even more.

N/A, but Soom is very quick to help whenever there's a problem with anything, from payments to the dolls themselves. Their issues during the site redesign have been fixed, it seems.

Yes, but only once I've got a better paying job. Now that layaway must be completed in 4 months or less, I can't really afford anything if it's not a tiny.

I mailed and asked them after a month and they said two weeks. Then it was delayed and then again. As I finally asked the fourth time they said they had production problems, which were finally corrected and she was then sent at the end of the week.
So in all: three months
Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
Very much so. The shoes (which said luts, by the way) are well made as are the eyes and the doll (although her lashes got off because she arrived in an arkward position without head protection and her head was smugged to her packing material). She stands very well already even though I going to suede her a little on her torso and legs. The wig is a big bouncy, though and won't fit but I won't use it anyway.

How was the communication?
I didn't have any direct communication with them, I just placed my order and paid, and later got an order confirmation.

It was easy through Paypal, but a little bit confusing, not like other sites where I have used Paypal.. it was completely streamlined into the ordering process.

I ordered on a Sunday (Feb21), and on Wednesday (Feb 24) I got a shipping notice. The doll arrived Friday (Feb 26).
Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
It's a nice doll, the joints are tight and the quality of the resin is good. Personally I am not a big fan of the body proportions, and think that for the price, there should be double-joints in the knees and maybe the hips as well.

Yes, I love the 'solid' feel of the resin, and she's a big, solid, doll! Nice colouring, pretty hands and feet! The clothing is well made - my only criticism, as with other companies too, is that the dark blue jeans when tried on once, left a small stain which I was able to remove with magic sponge. I have since washed the jeans approx 9 times and they still bleed dye......

Yes, pretty much - eyebrows on mine differ slightly in shape, they're bushier towards the end of the brow, whereas in the promo pic they are more tapered, but I still like the face up and am happy with the quality of it.

I wasn't very happy with 2 things.

Firstly, after waiting for 2 month plus, they email me that my Teenie Gem 3 order had a OOS item: TUS1010 (Pink Girl Shoes). I was VERY VERY unhappy. They should have put away the items for (Doll + items) orders. They should not even those items into the bundle sale if they cannot deliver! Imagine if some unlucky fellow have 2, or worse all 3, OOS items, and is force to change to something they do NOT want.

Secondly, It was with my Afi. I was rejoicing at Afi arrival (which mellow out my anger with the above issue). I didn't find any visible problem with his exterior. I was getting other eyes for him and when they finally arrive, I pop his headcap open to put them in. To my shock and horror, I found this rather big chip under his left eyewell. (ref to pic below) I have no idea how they sculpt the eyes but it looks like there is gap around the eyes and they fill it up with resin/(putty?). To me it looks like some quick fix. I thought when dolls are cast, they would be a solid piece. Not bits and pieces falling off them.

If I wasn't already that upset with their management, they sure jacked up the my level of disappointment with their customer service.

For my problem #1 (OOS item), they offer to replace the item or refund (they never mention how much) as store credit which means that I'm PAYING them for an item which I'll force to BUY from them again, and having to pay for shipping again. Having this reasoning, I rather get an item now then get the credits. (Which reminds me, I have not ask them where did my previous credits gone to)

So I gave them this list

Maybe it didn't sound very clear to them that I'm listing with priority. But they picked the CHEAPEST of the lot: TUS1030 (Pink teddy jacket). I check at the site after work, and found that TUC2001 (Pink blouse and boomers) was still in stock! But they've skipped over and pick the cheapest and least desired from the list. I'm still OK with the jacket, it's cute But it is this rather obviously 'cheap' attitude that upsets me.

For problem #2, I've posted on their board. I'm seeing how they are going to answer and see if they can redeem my good favor. If not, I would have to spent money to get some tan-like putty and fix it myself. Which is probably safer and cheaper than sending it back to them for a replacement. I.Dont.Trust.Them.

I have ordered from them many times since 2006 and alot more when I got their 1st generation MA Sabik in 2007. But stop when they started concentrating on MD, which was in 2008. Back then, items came in without hassle and probably the only request I had for them was to combine my huge orders. Now in 2010, I'm back for Afi, and they gave me a rather disappointing customer servicing. I would think twice before ordering from them.
