Soom Faery Legend "Nenad" Discussion

Jun 28, 2010

    1. Maybe if they become popular enough perhaps more eyes will pop up. It is such a tiny size, I already lost a pair of 8mm awhile back (I believe to the vacuum cleaner) so it isn't very popular to make for it :(

And yes, I am tempted to get both outfits as well. I might go with the weekly though, I like how it suits her form better. I can't decide yet. I do know I will be ordering her as soon as I do though :)

    2. Nope, 6mm is hard, pity the Limwha Sarah owners. But both Captured in Glass and Hands Glass do 8mm just off the top of my head.

Yearg, I wish I had the money to do her right now, but I just put Aphan on layaway last week. I've learned my lesson because of soom already. Only one doll on layaway at a time!

I don't think she really looks that disproportionate though, I know quite a few people with similar body shape. I wonder if they will let us get the older heads on the new body?

    3. darn I am on the fence with her... I would love a faery doll... there's layaway right? mmmm I even have barbie patterns of faerie dresses that looks better than the sac she's wearing over at soom

argh what to do what to do...

ah darn they ave layaway fees now? darn

    4. I think she's adorable, but I won't be getting her as she is Soom mini Gem size, and I had one of those and never played with her at all.

    5. Mystic eyes do urethane eyes in 8mm (and smaller in fact), they can be ordered without pupil and can be sparkly :) Gonna cost you, though...

    6. What about Shelly's eyes? She is doing custom orders for a bunch of glass ones--though now that I think on it I'm not sure it went as small as 8mm.

I am overall pretty excited about this faery line. However, now that I have seen Victorianwinter's fairies, this seems a little underwhelming O_O I think I would have liked a lot more dramatic colors, faceup, costume, and fairy parts. Does she even have pointy ears? Overall, I love the direction Soom is going with this. I'm sure another fairy will come along (possibly a snow/winter fairy) that will capture my heart sure enough!

    7. It looks like she does have pointy ears (I did some major zooming in on the picture to find out!) but they're not as big as I would have liked.
      The problem I have with VictorianWinter's dolls (even though I absolutely adore them) is simply that they're not limited. ^_^;;
I've talked about this occasionally before so won't go into it again, but I just have real problems bonding with non limiteds and generally end up selling them.
Plus the thing with basics is, they always get pushed into the "buy later when I have money" category, but there are always limiteds that get in the way!
Either way, I actually see both as very different dolls and would have loved both had the limited thing not been an issue!

I'm hoping for a red and gold fairy (fire perhaps?), something in dark blues (water maybe), something with lots of glitter and silver (snow fairy!), something pink (flower fairy), something black and purple (dark fairy) and so on!
Red and gold fairy could be tan. Black and purple dark fairy could be grey... and so on!

    8. Is it sad I like her biweekly clothes more than the 'default'? And it's not just the pocket book. She's just too cute and the perfect size for something I had in mind for a while.
My friend and I are planning on both ordering her (as well as me getting some extra wigs and eyes because my Nocturne is going to be switched around to a new character). It won't be until the 8th when we both get paychecks but I am seriously looking forward to her since she is basically a barbie doll sized thing.

    9. I like the biweekly clothes better too!
      But I also like the wristband and headband from the default outfit, so I just ended up getting both. ^_^;;

I can see excessive numbers of Barbie dolls being bought by me in the near future xD

    10. Oh, I really really love her! I love her face, it looks like a little Breccia.

    11. here are the photos of the body, with the wings..... :kitty2
      http://dollsoom.com/eng/bbs/board.php?bo_table=gemgallery&wr_id=96
I ended up ordering her in layway right now... will be my first soom, my first of this size, my first layaway :?
just couldn't resist, I also wish to see more and more faery in the future, with more colours options... :aheartbea

    12. Hmmm, she really does have a much smaller bust than the previous mini gems, but her the basic design of her body is so much more detailed! They did a lovely job with her! :D

    13. What I'm wondering is, with this really tiny bust they've given her, I wonder if Barbie clothes are just going to sag on her now?

    14. I'm really hoping I can get a few things sold so that I can get this lovely. I'm sure there will be other releases that I'm going to want too, but I don't think I can pass on this one. I just love her face. I also really like the new body. The only thing that kept me from ordering an elf Uyoo was her awkward body. Somehow it just looked messy. Now it's just as smooth and well proportioned as the Super Gems but tiny and portable! I may be in the minority here, but I think the small bust is nice. I wish they gave a large bust option for other everyone who wants one, but I get sick of every doll having huge boobs. I like a little variety.

Have you looked at LeekeWorld? They have several colors of glass pupil-less eyes in 8mm. There are also a red and a dark blue glittery no pupil. (pages 3, 4 & 5) http://www.leekeworld.com/En/Product/p_list.asp?B_catalog_num=23&M_catalog_num=86 Shipping is murder, but maybe you could find someone to do a group order with.

    15. She is so precious, and her teeth! That seems to be my weakness with these dolls. I will buy her, probably later in her order period as I have a payment left on Leira, but she will be mine, oh yes she will be mine. *evil cackle*

    16. Oh! Thanks for that!
I did check Leeke earlier but all the ones I clicked on only went as small as 12mm so I just assumed they didn't go smaller than that.
Turns out a lot of them do! Will have a search around there, thank you!

I actually think you're the majority with the smaller bust thing here!
Few people seem to like the bigger bust.
I actually think that there aren't ENOUGH big breasted dolls around. Most dolls are small to medium in my opinion (though you have to realize this comes with a person who's just naturally huge so my perception is perhaps a tad warped xD)
I don't even want a HUUUUUGE bust on this little fairy. Just a nice medium like the old Mini Gems had.
So I hope they change the next doll! It would be nice for them all to have slightly different bodies anyway for variation!

    17. She is such a pretty little fairy! Those wings are amazing and she has such a sweet face too, very Breccia-like. <3 I don't think she's for me though . . . I do like the look of the redesigned body, but dangit, I was hoping for more poseability. Having so many 1/6 Dollfies and Obitsus, I don't think I could go back to the Barbie-like posability that I was used to before! Ah welll, its for the best I guess, since Soom's probably gonna get me with the tinies this month anyway. >.<

I look forward to seeing this beauty in the galleries here, congrats to everyone who will be getting her! :D

    18. If they did bust options that would be awesome! Especially since I can see me needing more than one fairy in my house, and I like everyone to be different. I guess my thing is that I really dislike the way most companies seem to sculpt the bust so unnaturally like it's in a weird pushup bra or just perfect half circles. It's like so many of them are sculpted by people who have never seen real boobs. Now if they did something like the large bust Unoas or maybe the large Iplehouse girls I would be a happy, happy camper. :D Especially if they do a soft purple or green resin! (I hope you're reading this Soom!!)

    19. lunaria1 - Thanks for posting that link! I was wishing I could see body pictures and I didn't see those yesterday. The smaller bust is really disappointing. Barbie clothes were already a little loose in the bust, so I'm afraid they will sag on her now. The new body might fit better into Momoko or Volks' WtG tops now...? She has bigger thighs and I don't remember the old MG's upper legs being at that angle. I don't like her body line as much now and I still prefer the old hands.

I'm not familiar with Soom's other MDs but I just assumed the wings attached by magnets. There are actually little holes in her back! :o

I'm thrilled with her pricing! $273 isn't a huge price increase for a limited head, limited feet, and resin wings.

When I looked last night the bi-weekly outfit wasn't there! I really like it a lot better and I think it suits her so much more than the default dress.

I'm still going to pass on her. I'm not thrilled with her as a fairy; I really wanted something brightly colored and fantastical. Her face doesn't grab me, either. I'm not worried because I know there will be more in the future, so I'll keep waiting expectantly!

    20. I've seen holes in Monzo's back, if I can well recall... for his wings.
I don't know what to think about her bust. I guess I love it this way, as I can't really well imagine a very busty fairy. but I know it's some kind of limit of mine... I guess that for me fairies are still the one you can see in Disney's first "Fantasia" (1940).
I love also the natural look. I don't know if I would buy an unconventional resin colour - even if I easily can imagine colourful wings, and fantastic body blushing or tattoos :doh

    21. As a fan of smaller busts I really don't have a problem with this girl, and I generally don't associate anything fairy like with a large chest. There are too many limited coming out right now, and trying to decide which one to be my first to bring home is becoming a painful task xD
Seriously tempted with her though... she's one of the most beautiful female sculpts I've seen.

    22. LOL! I cancelled my order and placed a new one with the bi-weekly clothes too, whoop! They are beautiful, had to manually-pay Soom, but they got the payment, all's cool! ^ ^ I totally adore her, meanwhile, thought about her all through my (wretchedly horrible and long) day!

      .hlp

    23. It looks like Shelly's glass glitter eyes preorder thingie goes down to 8mm size, and she offers non-pupil eyes in 19 different flavors! :D Good news for all those looking! I am actually hesitating on this fairy...I wanted to get Victorianwinter's faery as well as wait to see what Soom does next with their Faery Legend line. I think it will be neat to see what additional ideas they come up with. Is it time for another Soom limited speculation thread? LOL!

As for Nenad, at least there is the Shelly eye option for her :) It'll be cool to see what more bi-weekly clothes they come out with (anyone notice their bi-weekly clothes are more like bi-monthly?)

    24. I'm still very unsure of whether or not I should order her... I love her to death, and totally do, but sadly I'm too afraid that they will come out with something later that I will love even more :( I guess I still have a little while to think about it, luckily, and either way it will be on layaway since I can't just pay it off the bat. But I'd love for her to be my first bjd. I just love her coloring, how subtle it is. What I'm looking forward to seeing is (since her story snippet says she's seelie fae) what they come up with for unseelie... *tapers fingers evilly*

    25. She's so cute just like a little fairy :D

    26. Does anyone know the answers to these questions about Nenad? I tried asking Soom but the answers I got back didn't really answer my questions. My questions are -

1.) Are her eyes standard or limited edition?

1.) Is the Green on her Wings and on the tips of her faery feet body painting?

Bascially, If she comes with those green wings and the tips of her faery feet are green, I don't need the body painting.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!! :)

    27. From the looks of the eyes are NOT limited edition and it seems that the green on her fairy feet is the body painting.
If her wings are anything like Monzo, Grit, and Syen's wings, they WILL be green tinted, but they will also be painted too!

When I go in next week I'll ask!

    28. Yes, please ask if the body blushing affects the wings as well. I am waffling on if I should get it :)

    29. I completely agree with you. Unseelie court! I love the expression on her face, though. I'm a little upset that Soom seems to be so anti ankle joints as of late.. Oh well. I'm going to wait and enjoy what comes along, until the one fae shows up that haunts my dreams. I *love* her little teeth, though..

Edit: I'm on the fence. Ugh. I hope Soom releases the next tinies before Nenad's ordering period is over..

Edit2: Oh poop. Neither of my two Teenie Gems, nor my floating head have names yet, and I manage to come up with one for her? This is very uncool.

    30. So if this beauty is "small fairy" and "seelie court" do you think they are going to make amazing Queens for the Dark and Light courts? The Light queen could be white and silver with a wig that has a thousand tiny braids, hard grey eyes, and a giant green velvet dress (Tam Lin illustartion from when I was little). Of course I hope that the queen's face sculpts are beautiful and not 'quirky' like some of the MDs have been of late. It goes with the territory that the queens would be unearthly beautiful, not a girl next door sculpt.

I really love Miss Nenad, in the 12th picture down she reminds me of a picture of Tinkerbell from a book I had as a child. I wish I could find it to show, it is almost the exact same picture. Hopefully I can get her but it won't be until later in the ordering period. I am guessing that tons of these girls are going to sell with that sweet face and the price.

    31. I would love that!!!! I'm so in love with fairy lore that involves light and dark court that I would absolutely die if they did anything along these lines! Maybe the line won't be just minis, maybe they'll throw in some of the other sizes too, just like they have done with the other MDs... Oh lord, I think I'm in trouble, lol.

    32. I was wondering if there were going to be larger sized dolls as well since she is labelled as "Small Fairy", how exciting would that be. I will be getting her on the 16th I think (after my next pay check), but that means I'll miss out on the limited dress. I don't really mind tho, as I like her default "sack" as some have called it better :P. It reminds me of a flower petal on the bottom half, and I'm all for that. My only worry is how I will feel about her size, as I love the heft and size of my SD. I guess I like some barbies, which I hear is similar so it should be alright.

    33. The more I look at her, the more her face intrigues me. I've climbed onto the fence, too. I think I want her. :doh

Somehow, I missed all of that about the "Seelie Court" and "small fairy." I only read the bottom part where it mentioned she once turned strawberries into gold. Now I'm really excited to know what the next one will be! I wish Soom would give us a list of the next few that are coming out. It's frightening to think of how many MG fairies I might end up with. I've already decided I need at least 3: normal, white, and tan skin. I'd love a grey one, too. And maybe one in the bronze skin....

I'm not thrilled with a moss fairy but...what about a water sprite? Those long feet, blushed blue, could be little flippers. I saw the cutest tiny blue nail jewels at the store and I have several small pieces of different blue fabric remnants that would make her a water sprite wardrobe.

(I wonder if she can balance on the fairy feet with a doll stand?)

I still hope the future ones are more "complicated" than Nenad. I want to see the same level of detail in them as in the big MDs. I want intricate dresses, styled wigs, pretty shiny eyes, etc.

I don't know if I should order her or keep waiting. It's not Nenad herself that worries me; it's the lack of clothes/shoes/wigs/eyes in this size. I know I have to take the plunge some time if I want one, though... Oh, what to do? :doh

    34. So if she has no ankle joints on her fairy legs how do they attach? I don't think you could run elastic and a tiny S hook through the bottom of that slender pointed foot.

    35. I'm getting a little too excited about this whole concept. But I think I will have to wait and see what my monthly budget looks like next week before I can decide if I will order her... I may just have to break down and order the dress early since it won't be for sale too much longer, but it's just too cute to resist. I don't know if I want to go with that wig for her though...too bad there aren't too many options for that size. I am excited that I found a pair of lovely, multi-tone green 8mm sized eyes on Safrin that I think will fit great. I loved how in some of the books I've read the fae have multi-colored eyes...*squees*

    36. I imagine it is like the other soom feet where there is a hole that you put a hook in and it provides tension. Or there may be a resin loop there that you have to loop the string around.

      Ugh, my carpal tunnel can't handle restringing. Just thinking about it is making me cringe xD;

    37. pastelflower, there has been some mention that barbie clothes might fit (though might have to be altered to accomodate the smaller breasts), I think Soom might start catering to eyes their size if the popularity of Faery Legend really takes off (and we voice the need for eyes in 8mm) as for wigs, I think we will still have tinybear's lovely creations.

I love her face. *sigh* she truly has a delightful face. Are these Faery Legends going to be monthly releases? If so, I might be doomed..

    38. I wish I knew if they were monthly as well...sadly looking at my budget for this month I'm not even sure I can afford to place her layaway order. Oh well, may have to wait for the next one and just save up more in advance *sigh*

    39. *gasp* Would they be able to wear Momoko clothing? Maybe even their shoes, too?

    40. It's been said they won't be monthly, maybe they'll be every other month, we're not sure yet. I'm going to have to start making a new list of 'stuff that fits' for minigems too, wigs seem to be the challenge at the moment, yikes!

      .hlp

    41. She's gorgeous! Her outfit is really lovely too!
I've been wanting a fairy for some time now, and she's perfect, but i can't afford another doll right now! :(

    42. I think Mini Gems are taller than Momoko but I wonder if her tops might fit better with the new small bust? The old feet could wear Momoko shoes but I don't know if they changed them (probably not much). Luts makes 1/6 shoes (Soom sells a few of them) and she can wear Volks' Who's that Girl line. I'm betting she can wear Re-Ment's shoes, too!

For wigs, she can wear size 4 fashion doll size. They're not hard to find they just all seem the same.

This is the original Mini Gem clothing thread. I'm not sure how up-to-date it is but you can get some good ideas there.

I'm disappointed that Soom never supported them very well. I'm not pleased at the idea of special limiteds with optional acrylic eyes and a wig in a style and color that's extremely common - but even now, knowing they were making a special limited release, they didn't bother to restock the shoes or wigs or sell more 8mm eyes. There aren't many options out there and I was really hoping for styled wigs and clothes made for her body instead of manufactured "toy company" clothing. I can't help but feel like Soom just took the easy way out with Nenad. :sweat

Of course, this is the first one and I'm sure they'll make me eat my words later on. ;)

    43. I'm hoping this becomes a proper relaunch with clothes and the like...but then I think of the Mecha Angel line, and I know that Soom can indeed be fail when it comes to supporting elements for a doll, so we'll have to see.

      .hlp

    44. Mini Gems have been out since 2006 and in all that time Soom has never updated their shoes beyond some Azone and the 1/6 ones Luts made, they've only added a few wigs, and other than the original full-set outfits NEVER updated the clothes. It's hard to keep feeling hopeful. :sweat

Well, I have Nenad in my shopping cart! I won't get my birthday money until Tuesday but I'm going to let her rest on my credit card for a few days, in hopes I can be on the shipping list a few days earlier. :whee: I'm still deciding on whether I want her with a face-up or not. If I turn her into a water sprite she doesn't need a face-up from Soom - but am I sure I want a water sprite? Hmmmm...

    45. Any idea what her wig and eye size are?

    46. Should be 4 in and 8mm. At least I'm almost positive :)

    47. I wonder if she can fit barbie clothing?

    48. From what I heard, she can fit in barbies outfits , just that the bust area might be loose.

    49. I compared the measurements I found online of barbie dolls to what the Soom website has for the mini gems and the barbie ones are all a tiny bit bigger, but with minor adjustments (especially in the bust for this one, as previously mentioned) they'd probably fit pretty well.

    50. pastelflower thank you for that helpful link! Too bad she won't fit into any blythe or momoko clothes, there's such a lovely collection on etsy!

    51. I'm betting she'll be able to wear most Barbie stuff, Volks WTG (though that line is frustrating to shop in as Volks never seems to restock it) , Obitsu 1/6 scale, and Azone International. With her petite figure, people who like a close fit will probably want to choose stretchy things that will mold to any bodyline, rather than things tailored for a larger bust.

Or, of course, if you want to keep her in faerie tunics, those are really easy to make. =)

    52. Oh excellent, thank you for the replies! Have there been any nude photos posted? I can't tell what her bust is like. XD

    53. Yup, right here :) Hope that helps

    54. Haha, thanks so much both of you!
Oh are you a fellow Chrono Cross fan palartok?
So how long does Soom usually take to ship these dolls, haha XD Out of curiousity, I've never bought from them before.

    55. LOL, I got ninjad! I'm curious as to the time myself, I've seen a lot about it being a good while though. And man, I haven't played that game in a long long time...

    56. wow she is amazing! shes abit taller than bobobies march ect. which can wear barbie stuff...looking at her frame i think it would fit....but i think with her custom clothes would be the way to go!

    57. My hubby's the big fan, to be honest! But that avatar has brought us together. Ridiculously long story short: we met online 9 years ago when my handle was Harlequin :)

Her feet are crazy tiny! Blythe and Momoko shoes are waaaayy too big for her.

    58. I find her really adorable! :D
I am going to order her somewhere between July 12 ~ 15.
A few weeks ago I started thinking about adding faeries to my doll crew, and thinking of how I could make faery wings. But now I don't need to do it myself, Soom did it for me! :D
