Soom Attending New York Comic Con in October!

Sep 7, 2011

1. Oh true that! O.O My box will be pretty huge too if I ask them to combine my order! Two Migmas, Alk, one tan teenie body, Io on Chrom's body and if I'm able to; Heliot. I will really need help getting them from the post office since I don't have a car anymore xD They will all arrive during winter, and I can already see myself, covered up in clothes, trying to protect the huuuge parcel from the store to my home xD

2. XD hahah Oh man! D: Thats gonna be a big one for you Iraw o-o Is customs gonna attack that parcel? D: I can't imagine if they do..

XD thankfully I'll have Keet here by the time the parcel will expectedly come <3 D: So I have a ride for once XD normally I do the walk in all weather XD!

3. And I've finally decided on a Chalco head on a Sard body in bronze. This will be my first tall boy and he will be the perfect first!

4. I really doubt it because they deliberately chose to do a limited run of 8 NS Sards and it would devalue the 8 NS Sards if they produced more, then again, it never hurts to ask. He's available in Bronze resin though, I think that combination could potentially be nicer than in NS.

5. Soom has made some updates to their notice. NS Sards are OK:

Which is awesome, because I'd rather have Sard in NS. Bronze would be OK too, but I prefer NS.

Edited to add: This would not devalue the original 8 NS Sards. Those were offered as fullsets, complete with face ups and blushing. The dolls for this October event will have no face up or blushing options. They'll be shipped completely blank.

6. Ostrich, a blank NS Sard is still an NS Sard, but I know where you're coming from ;)

7. HMM. I'm thinking about going with paws instead of hooves. How is Chrom's balance? Our Amber stands pretty well on her hooves, what's the story on Chrom's paws?

8. Jesicssa - Don't get me wrong. I agree with you. I imagine those collectors with the original NS Sards aren't too happy right now. Especially those who've wiped the paint. Then again, Soom has never given a definitive yes or no when it comes to re-releasing their popular molds.

I also totally love your pony avatar. :)

Britain - A friend of mine has Chrom paws on a DZ body. Even modded he stands and crouches beautifully.

9. Ostrich: Thank you! That makes my decision so much harder. XD

10. I can't wait to know the prices so I can start making a budget (and know if I can afford a second doll: tan chrom) *chew nails*

11. Having multiple limiteds, I myself would not get mad if they were to be re-released unless for a lot less than for what I got them for for the same exact thing. Since they will be different, I expect lower prices but it still does not bother me. I get a doll because I like it, not for the fact that it is limited. The limited part has no effect on me getting it, just that I have only one chance to get it and cannot put it off until later.

12. Omg, I'm so happy that Soom is offering NS sard. I'll just wait for the price now to help me decide. I really had planned on my current dolls being my only ones. X3

13. it would be soooooo cool if they were arround 600$ like a basic SG *3*
though I expect more arround 700$ (which is still pretty good)

14. Man, I should remember to get rid of my Io's old shipper before I get another one in. Those things are so big. O_O

I am really excited! I decided I'm going for just bronze Chalco on Euclase body. I really would like another one since Heliot and Sard are so pretty, but I think maybe I'll just settle for the partial wallet abuse, and not the full deal. C'mon October. O_O
I really ought to buy more clothes for my boys now. I bought some, but now I have more boys than incoming clothes! D: My Io only has one pair of pants for himself, not that anything he has will fit over those claws. I think I might have to try Heise. o_o Why does Soom insist on making it harder to keep money in my pocket? T^T

15. Gawd I wish I could afford both a tan Chrom and a tan Sard, got some serious thinking to do here...

As an owner of one of the original NS Sards, I don't think there's an issue there (unless someone is worried about the market value being dragged down). I don't intend to sell mine so it doesn't bother me at all :). I'm happy for all those who are now able to get their NS Sards! :D

16. Jimminy, I prolly would probably be getting two, if not for that Claude. That boy was so expensive, I am really hoping these dolls are cheaper. :shudder I think maybe Iplehouse is just another money-grab branch of Soom. D:

17. Well, to be honest, unless you paid an inflated price for your MD, I don't see the honest problem. As long as they sell them at a comparable to the first-run price (for a nude/blank doll, that is) and the dolls aren't exactly like the limiteds they've already released, then I don't see how this will conflict. Afterall, we're getting blank dolls with no frills and limited color options. If you want a faceup or an outfit or a doll to be 100% exact like that MD you fell in love with, you'd still have to buy secondhand so there will still be a market. To be honest, if I owned a direct from the company limited doll and saw them being resold again but differently, as long as I hadn't paid twice the price for mine, I wouldn't have a problem. Afterall, they still release MDs they've already released, just in different skintones, fullsets, etc. So, I don't think it'd be worth anyone getting upset over this. But that's just my opinion. :D

18. What Are Your Thoughts on LE Dolls debate. Cause we don't want to sidetrack this thread. :)

I know I'll be getting a NS Sard. I've got a doll or two I can sell to make up the cost. The real question (that others are wondering) is: can I afford two dolls?

Other good questions:
1. Can we assume these guys will have the updated SG bodies? If so that makes them even more different than their original counterparts.
2. This event is going to bury Soom in orders. Do you think they'll still be able to ship them out after roughly 3 months like the other MDs? I know they'll still be bound by their 100 working day guarantee.

19. Man, I hate my boy's double-jointed elbow part, I kind of want Chalco without it. It always get turned around and it becomes such a hassle. D:

Anyone named their boys yet? :XD:

Oh heavens Ostrich, I just noticed your signature. I'm so sorry they did this to you again. :o

20. The point is that people who did pay an inflated price (and some did, I know) did so because they thought it might be their only chance to get a Sard like this, if not any Sard at all. So I do see the point of anyone who feels that (1) their formerly-rare doll has lost some value (2) they spent a lot of extra $ needlessly. ==On the other hand, as you say, these will be blanks without any frillage, while the limited run have faceups, Soom eyes etc. So...everyone can come to her own terms with it I guess. I just hope no one feels too bad.

and oops, sorry to be part of the hijacking. Stopping now. =)

Pandy, I have! My bay baby is Akiyume ("autumn dream" :D )

21. Sorry about that. I was just hoping to HOPEFULLY help squash an argument before it started. I just want everyone to enjoy this awesome happening. :D

I was unaware there were new SG bodies. How are they different from the old ones? Also, how are Soom's fantasy parts anyway? I know I have no choice but to get him with them but I don't have any fantasy part dolls and I can't help but be worried.

I have decided on a bronze Sard myself. I had always wanted a NS one but, now that I know they are offering bronze, I can't get that out of my head. I just have to figure out the body, which is the hard part.

As for shipping, I wonder. It looks like a lot of people are going to take advantage of this and I can see the wait time increasing. But, hey, I have a Dollshe wait going on so I can handle it. It'll be my Christmas/New Year present. :D

22. I want to second the above question about soom's fantasy parts. I only have MD littles and teenies, and I can't help noticing in pictures that the leg joints sometimes look kind of awkward? Does anyone have issues with having two joints in the legs?

23. i own quite a few of the Soom 'two joint in legs' super gems. i do not think that there is any issue at all with the 'two joints'. more, the consideration should probably be: weight. and size.

the weight of a super gem is substantially more than, say, a soom tiny. someone who is not used to the big dolls may find them to be quite of a shock.

also, they take up a great deal of space, the final frontier. ♥

24. never had soom dolls before, but the joint part is what make the fantasy part interesting for me! without it, dolls pose so awkwardly (mostly when they sit) and on the opposite, the extra joint in the leg makes such cool poses that human legs can't do :D (note: this is my thoughts after seeing many owner pictures)

malvagitabella: I think only the elbow joint is different on the "new" bodies

25. Pandy My boy has been named Borealis :D

26. I'm losing my mind thinking of all the possibilities here... -starts counting money-

Can anyone tell me how Chalco's fantasy hooves pose? Probably not as well as the ones with three joints, but are they at least somewhat "flexible"?

27. I do have other SDs, just not SOOM^^ But thanks for replying!

28. What "issues" could there possibly be with a leg having 2 joints, anyway? :?: Their joints operate just fine. If you don't like the look of the joint system, then don't buy. If you like fantasy legs that bend like hooves or talons or what-have-you, then do buy.

They're as flexible as any other leg I guess. He can crouch on them & kneel on them & sit on them. But that 'spur' on the backs of his hooves stop him from folding up any tighter.... i.e. you can't get his calf to touch the back of his thigh. If you store him in a seated position, give him a nice high seat to allow that 90-degree angle. It's a big spur.

(It also prevents pants from fitting his lower legs; but who the hell would put pants on those gorgeous legs anyway? That'd be a crime!!)

... But Soom is feather-light compared to Volks. Buy Soom if you're a Volks owner recovering from a back injury and need lighter lifting! ^~ However, if you add solid-resin hooves, suddenly your Super Gem is almost EID-weight, so those guys are good for a workout.

Agreed on the storage space, though. Big hooved guys are a shelf-commitment! My Chalco already commands a huge chunk of space, so I will regrettably be passing up that fantasy of a horned bronze Sard with Chalco's thighs. Am positive that somebody else will be getting that combo, so I will demand lots of photo spam!

PS: Am I a sicko for being equally interested in the Discontinued Eyes offer? Any other eyeball-whores out there care to guess which colors might be re-introduced here?

29. I try to ignore the pretty, pretty Soom eyes, 'cause in this house they are just fuzz-magnets (thank you, giant cat with super-soft fine fluffy fur :|). But if not for that I'd totally be interested in their eyes offer, they have some gorgeous colors!

. . . now, if only it was that easy to talk myself out of one of these lovely dolls. Dangit, Soom, I'm not made of money, you and Volks need to play nice and take turns taking it from me! xD

30. JennyNemesis,
Thank you (: I've been wavering back and forth between which hooves I like best.

And pfffft, pants are overrated anyways :aheartbea

31. I really, really, really want some of those eyes! But they say they are only bringing 10 pairs! That would sell out in the first ten minutes!

32. Only 10 pairs? Those will be gone in mere seconds!

33. Ten pairs of each type, so with the 5 discontinued types and the 1 event limited, that's 60 pairs total. Not loads, but probably enough to last a while.

34. Yeah, woe and doom and sorrow! ;; 10 pairs, what a TEASE!

It's just, if the colors they're reintroducing aren't anything special, or if they're something I already have, then I won't feel quite so much woe/doom/sorrow at not being able to get to New York until Christmastime. O how I love them eyeballs.

(PS: Anyone who is preemptively discouraged about owning Soom eyeballs just because you have cats or live with a woodworker = Buy sponge-tipped eyeshadow applicators, which come in packets of 24 at your local superpharmacy. Lint-free, disposable, cheap. Dampen them with water, to clean off silicone eyeballs without leaving a single trace of lint or cotton or dust. Voila!)

35. LOL! clothes are overrated when it comes to those gorgeous bods lol! and then add fantasy parts.....i'm afraid i would have to get heliot head and sard body myself. wrestling with color choice.... the bay theory is interesting but what about palomino or buckskin?

36. I guess I've just learned my lesson to not pay any more inflated second hand prices on Sooms as they'll probably re-release everything multiple times so long as I just love the sculpt and don't care so much about the skin tones. I guess I'd wrongly assumed they'd not re-release Sard again and when I was unable to get the NS8 when they released them I ended up paying around double second hand.

I missed the limited reissues of Beryl and Vesuvia and would dearly love those sculpts (even without fantasy parts) but sellers generally want significantly more (if not double what they paid) even for the reissues. For example Harem Dancer Vesuvia was $557 on Soom's site but the ones in the marketplace are $1200-1300. I should probably just wait until Soom rolls them out again as they are already doing a 2nd reissue of Onyx..... With any luck they'll do this again with the SG girls. Cross fingers and avoid secondary market from now on.

LOL any chance Dollshe will bring out unlimited Bermann heads?? Somehow I doubt it but that would save me a few grand if I pursued one....

37. And of course this event happens at the same time I find two dolls I've been pining for--both rare limiteds I've never seen up for sale before--on the marketplace, at the same time. I was having a hard enough time choosing between them, and now a bronze Heliot is thrown into the mix . . . Need I place a despairing emoticon here?[IMG]

38. Jenny Good tip for cleaning eyes in general too!

39. I bet they will! O.O They will probably give me a huuuge taxes on it aswell x.x But it's still worth if, I will probably be in 300 that day when they all arrive, there will be dolls everywhere xD

I love the name, probably one of the best names I've heard in a while :D Northern lights are so beautiful <3 What doll are you planning to buy?

Since I already got Heliot in NS, I think I'm just gonna save up for Io on Chrom and then pray that I'll be able to skip the remaining story dolls, and that I won't fall too much for the tiny centaur. I'm getting all soomed up here, and I said I was never gonna have more than ten dolls! xD Well.. already broken that one, but I should try to save what's left in my wallet xD
There's always another pretty soom doll around the corner! xD

40. Iraw Awe thanks :D <3 He is gonna be a NS Chalco debating on Green or Blue kinda iridescent eyes if I can find ones like that

41. silvermasques Oh Chalco is so beautiful :D I know the eyehunt can be difficult x) I should start thinking about that aswell :D

42. I am actually really debating this combo, but I would want regular hands and am not sure if the Chalco body would come with his fantasy hands or not. I'll have to ask about that...

43. I think a page or two back it was mentioned that the dolls would come with the fantasy hands.

44. Phoenix it would be the fantasy hands. It is all the parts like Linnus hands/Feet Firelord hands/Feet etc ;D

45. I'm getting that combo! Even if it means extending the months I can completely pay back my CC. :sweat
I love those thighs! The only thing I'm worried about is the limited color pallet that can be used for his blushing, but meh, its such a delicious color :drool

Well, the fantasy body of Chalco does come with those fantasy hands, so I don't see why this release wouldn't include those hands. Those hands were actually the reason that broke the tie between Chalco and Euclase body for me.
But please let us know what Soom replies with! :)

46. I'm too broke to buy a full doll right now but I am in for a Sard head, he's been a grail of mine too for quiiite awhile.
Its a pity they're not doing WS, but i guess its a good thing cause i'd be REAAALLY doomed if they did WS ^^;;;;; I'd have to get a set of WS Chalco legs...WS sard head...and get some sard body somehow..

Oh also guys I asked Victora yesterday before she finished answering

All these dolls come with fantasy hands.

Good day !

We are sorry, but the heads of these dolls will be sold with blank heads.

Also, fantasy parts includes the fantasy hands as well.^^

As for Galena, thank you so much for your last payment !

She will certainly ship by December, but nothing is for sure.

Would it be possible to ask us an estimated schedule in about one month ?

Thank you for your patience, and have a nice day !

Victoria, SOOM

>
>
> Hi there Victoria! Just a quick question.
>
> With the free choice of fantasy head and parts, will there be an option to get the original default face up?
> (Like Sard's Night Odyssey) or are you only selling blank heads?
> Also, by "fantasy body" will that mean the fantasy hands will be included too? (Like Chalcos Linuus hands?)
> And I just paid off my galena layaway, will she ship around december? thanks!
>
>
> Thank you~
> ~Hannah

47. I have to admit, I'm worried about those hands a little. They're stunning, but I will be keeping my fingers crossed for a jointed hands sale in bronze. ;)

I'm going for a bronze Sard/Chalco combo, too! And potentially a Heliot/something combo. There's a part of me that'd love to do a Heliot/dragony-feets combo, with a jewel-like eye somehow stuck into the horn slot -- or a Heliot/Sard-body combo just for a bronzed, lanky incubus of doom. The Sard/Chalco just has to happen, though.

Whether a second set of 'ooh shiny' makes its way home has a lot to do with funds at the time and how Alex looks, along with what the October MD looks like. It's like a total doom month for the lovers of their bigger dolls -- boy of your dreams, new SG girl, new MG MD boy... *slams head into desk*

I hope like mad this is them potentially testing the waters for a store somewhere in the US. I really, really do. Especially if it's on the east coast. (No offense to those located elsewhere, but. Well. Local-ish would be nifty.)

Also... I wonder if we're going to be hammered with sales tax. Likely so. Never been a worry before, with the online orders, but... that... *nosewrinkle* It's high in Manhattan, and likely required. It might be a good idea to save some orders for the online period for that reason alone.

48. 8.875% tax on a $700+ item. *faints
I think I wouldn't mind not having priority shipping if that's the case!

49. LOL thats kinda why I am debating on how much it'll be with tax once we know the price.. If it's too painful I might just Order direct. If it's about the same Meh.. then thats OK It could be the difference between Shipping

50. My thoughts exactly! I'm in DE, land of no sales tax... it doesn't even usually enter into my thinking. I either buy things here or online, where there's usually no tax either.

...makes me think of suggesting that they have a shop here. *cough* It's centrally located for the NY and DC crowds! ;)

51. Arg, I just looked at the Euclase body, and I don't like the hands at all. It would be pretty nice if Soom did offer jointed hands in bronze with the dolls, to save me from having to do a trade and leave my boy with no hands for a while. o_o

I would love to see a Soom shop. East Coast is more accessible to me than the West, so I'd have a better chance of being able to make it. Although, I wouldn't want to go to NYC just for it. D:

52. Just in case it would be of use to anyone who's not experienced with fantasy feet, here's my girl Koi wearing Breccia paws. She can sit quite comfortably and kneel as well.
(I always dress her in Japanese hakama, which are a great option for Sooms.)

53. Thanks for the info everyone!

54. I am so excited!!! I think I might be able to go. I'll have to read all of the posts to see if it is a lottery and if you can walk home carrying your SARD or TEENY CENTAUR or whoever your heart desires.

55. It is not a lottery, as someone already asked on the SOOM Q&A, and it is a pre-order from my understanding.

56. I was GOING to do a bronze Sard/Chalco body combo but the hooves have grown on me so much. Have they ever released a bronze complete Sard? And, if not, if I am reading correctly, can I get a complete bronze Sard rather than a combo of him and anything else?

57. You can only get in on Thursday if you're the press or a "professional"

58. Those are really nice hakama! Where did you get those, are they limited?

It is expensive for a table there, so it would be quite a bit to get a professional pass. My boyfriend was going to get one to sell prints, and he couldn't come up with the grand to pay for it. :o So expensive! T^T

59. Going to second/third/whatever all the comments about fantasy bits posability and how they take up room. Mine have to sit on the shelf so other dolls can fit. And they still take up a ton of room. But I love them so.

The difference between the old and new Super Gem bodies is the elbow. The new arm/elbow is double jointed.

Yes and yes! You can get a complete bronze Sard. They've never released him in bronze.

60. I don't think we should be thinking about which body, though? Since it's only fantasy parts there won't be arms to attach the hands to. So one would think you could get whatever body you want.

If the price goes over $700 I am doomed. That'll be pushing it for me, even with layaway, but still worth it! I missed the sale of NS Heliot by a few hours, I DON'T want to miss this.
