I was just about to ask something like that, cause I asked them previously if I had a blank soom head, if i could send it back to them for a face up and she said it could maybe be possible with the certificate...

 

Thank you very much! That means I'll be (hopefully) getting the Sard I've been in love with since the beginning of the hobby! XD

Also, weirdly enough, though I told myself not to ever get a fantasy doll, him having just his fantasy parts is actually kind of exciting me. Plus, it'll be an excuse to get other fantasy part dolls. After all, he can't be the only one!

Now. To not also somehow get a Euclase.

And I wouldn't mind them blank. Though, I have to admit, I love Soom faceups.

I'm wondering this, too. (I'm also wondering how far the convention center is from the sushi place the roomie and I like -- though it's probably wayyyyyyy too small for a horde to descend upon. It looks like they have a few food courts, at least.)

I have to wonder who they'll be sending, too. I would guess it depends a lot on who on their staff would like to go, and who on the staff speaks English, also -- I know, for instance, if I was with a company that was sending a group of staff to Korea for a tradeshow, I'd love to be taking that trip, but would likely be out of the running since I only speak English.

while i am curious about anything which we have not seen yet from soom, i am leaning towards a 'bronze sard' myself. i would do him up as a blonde.

 

I think I'm almost glad they don't offer grey or I would be doomed. (Or should I say Soomed?)

I've always considered myself pretty safe from the big guys, but this event is ridiculously tempting already.

 

Quicky shots taken earlier today just so you guys can have a quick and dirty 'real world' comparison between the four "main" resins. Like I said, I DO have snow blue and grey on hand in the forms of tinies as well if someone is dying to see those with bronze/normal for the NYC choices.

I almost can't even believe it. Oh, please let this be for real! I am like overdramatically shaking with the excitement over here.

 

Oh man, I'm gonna need to sell my house. LOL Soom is going to make a fortune off of this event. I'm thinking that a bronze Sard is near irresistible, and I may just have to go for a Heliot of some kind or another as well. I think I'm going to cry.

ArouraAnn: the 'waiting room' will be so much fun ♥ even if one decides to get 'nothing' ... which is truly a difficult decision... it will still be fun to see what everyone's 'choices' were.

i also keep wondering if the big mega gem will be a Minotaur.

 

Fantasy sard has the pointed ears and his special order human version of sard seemed to me just like a
Male dia (normal human ears.)

Here's a dumb question, they list the october md mega gem and the new msds being there at the
Convention to order but they dont give an online date. Im assuming they will also sell them online since
They also dont list near them that there only avail to buy at the convention, true?

 

They've told me NS Sard and NS Heliot are both okay, so it'll be a hard decision for me.

Victoria's directly said to me that it's not a lottery, so fear not!

I asked if these guys would count towards the whole 'post MD' event type thing they sometimes do when they sell off previous MD's clothes. They haven't decided yet but Victoria's said to ask again when the event starts.

Time to start saving. X3

 

Okay, there is a tiny chance I might be able to go... I will probably have to make some sacrifices as I doubt I can go the way I usually like to do cons. (Get there the night before, stay within walking distance, etc.) I'll know in a few days.

One thing is funny, though. From NH car, train and plane all take almost exactly the same amount of time! Southwest has to change planes in Baltimore before returning to NY.

If I manage to go I'd love to meet up with the Soom faithful It'd be great to take along a couple of my favorites to the booth... unfortunately most of my very favorites are HEAVY Mecha Angels and Idealians. Huge cons are no place for heavy dolls!

 

Alright assuming the "MD Custom" does go up online I am sorely SORELY tempted to cross my fingers and hope like mad for a bronze Heliot on a Sard body. That's the one thing I wouldn't be able to say no to. lol

 

I'm very anxious to see the little centaur. Been wanting one of those for awhile. ^_^ Also interested by the fact that apparently they are gonna release new Remaining story dolls this month? It's a bit soon, but I'm not objecting.

 

Agreed! I am so glad you'll be able to do it -- I'm going to start thinking positive that you'll be able to. I'm trying to pick ONE, and that's... *whimper*

Really loving all the excitement in this thread! and heidipay, your post made me LOL. I can just see the booth minders in training now. =) I'm settled on bronze Heliot with Sard hooves.

(--Have to say, though, I hope having NS Sard deemed OK isn't too big a disappointment for anyone who bought one of the limited run Sards thinking they'd be the only ones ever. It does kinda take away the extra-specialness.)

 

I think Sard will probably be the one ordered most during this event ^^ I am also one of those who never even dared to think about having a Sard. It still seems very unreal, I have to admit.

 

I'm on the Sard train as well. Not so sure about the body yet, but either way I might finally be able to get my ultimate grail doll home.
Feels very surreal indeed.

 

Wow! Soom are really going all out for this event. I'm actually glad that I don't want any of the males because I'd have to take out a loan to pay for them all lol.

I wonder though, if this event is a huge success, which it will be, will they do a repeat but with the girls? If they did this, I'd give an arm and a leg for a tan Cass and Galena body.

 

So do you all anticipate these will be a little less expensive than a fullset, because of the single set of option parts? Like, closer to $700 than $800+?

 

Add me to the pile of Sards. I got into the hobby right after he and Beryl were sold out. I always wanted one, but he was on my list of "if I won the lottery" dolls. I'm so happy Soom is going to let us order both Sard and Heliot in NS! Now I need to come up with a budget for October.

Also, huge thanks to Sakhmet, those comparison pics previous are awesome. Since Soom said the heads would be sold blank...does that mean we can expect no faceup/blushing service for these guys? Would dramatically lower the price, but I was hoping for Soom's work. I guess we'll have to see!

 

And for those who are going to buy the normal skin ones, Soom is still selling the normal skin SG bodies. ^^ I think we should open a Waiting Room as soon as the order period starts! XD I really want to know what everyone's ordering!

In the same boat as you there Ostrich, I found out about Sard literally a week after his order period shut D: Can hardly beleive I've a chance to actually get one at a price I can potentially afford.

 

^_^ I want a NS Sard and NS or bronze Heliot. Yes, this seems so unreal. Never believed I might ever see one of those molds again to be bought regularly :3. Am so happy!!!

 

I feel the same way about Sard. I've only been in this hobby a year but, at the beginning, I told myself no inexcessible grail dolls, that paying secondhand prices would just be too much for me. But than I saw a Sard. And I kept searching him out and looking at every one posted and I fell head over hills in love. I actually decided to break my rule on inexcessible grail dolls and started looking around for one to buy just two weeks ago. I almost feel, in an overdramatic way, like this is fate. Because I had honestly spent so much time talking myself out of him that it's insane this would be coming along right when I'll have the money and just when I had convinced myself to go ahead and get him, that grail dolls must be had at any cost. So I am way more than overly excited. I just hope this actually comes true. It will be just too amazing!

 

I'm actually going to be able to go! The woman I hope was going is going and not only that, she is able to give a ride there and share a room! Soom being there is a major plus but I'm going because Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail!!!!) will be there along with the main voice cast of the Fairy Tail anime as well. I was doing major flailing around yesterday when I found out about it, thought I couldn't go, then apparently got super lucky! I still can't stop squeeing and flailing.

I wonder what the special con dolls are going to look like? Maybe I better leave my credit cards at him >.>;

edit:......I may end up with a bronze Chrom.....I think I just heard my wallet scream in agony.

 

I think the Bronze dolls would be a little bit more expensive than the NS dolls, because of the resin color, but since they are just with the fantasy parts, hopefully the price will be a bit less, since you are just getting the fantasy doll. Now that they have said yes to NS Sard, now I need to figure out if I want him in Bronze or NS! Same with Heliot.... I can picture him dark with a black mane and deep turquoise eyes... *swoon faints*

As much as I was considering getting the teenies this month, I think I'm bound to wait until next month now at this point! Now I wish they had waited on the body sale! Maybe they will do the female dolls next year? I just realized, some of the older fantasy MD girls would need to have the old arms, since several of them had fantasy forearms, like Amber and Cass.

 

I'm a little bummed about the lack of human bits and now the lack of faceups, but I think I'll still end up ordering.

 

I believe (and hope) that their price Will be more arround 700$. As they Come with only one head and no human parts. But still slightly more expensive than a normal basic SG because they're spécial and not normal Hunan. so 700$ would be about right IMO (normal SG are barely 600$ before shipping )
Catw07 yeah me too. I've Wanted a tan Chalco since forever but i am only interested in human form :/ but in a way I guess it'a better like that because I could only afford one and making decisions is so not my strong point xD so I'll go with a euclase body

And OMG, I will be in bad trouble if they repeat this event with female dolls next year. I would do most anything for a Galena in brown or bronze.

 

Aww I wish you could do a faceup! I guess it's one way to get them out quicker and also another way to make sure they are not copies of the original MD.

 

I just noticed the part where it says you can do layaway on the custom dolls. wee, that should help a ton.

I'll be there Sunday on the last day, only cause I am only going to order LOL and window shop other things but Woooo! Getting up at 5am to get to the train by 6:45 Hudson Line train outta Poughkeepsie.. City by 8ish... getting kidnapped from there and then con By 10? Oh yes... D: I dont know who I am going to bring though.. Most likely Aiden, or Kohaku

 

The con starts on Friday not Thursday so don't worry about Thursday! I'm actually worried about the low amount of quantity they have on things like eyes and clothes. I really want to get the Con exclusive eyes and maybe some of the discontinued ones they are bringing but only 10 each?

I'll be there Friday and Sat but skipping out on Sunday.

heidipay - I don't think there are any hotels connected to Jacob Javitts, so you'll have to walk, shuttle, etc. to get there. Definitely get your ticket to the con by the 16th. They'll mail you the ticket, so you don't have to stand in line (which will save you much time and aggravation). Oh I could just see TSA now! They were slightly amused when I packed a suitcase filled with mostly Mardi Gras beads and throws coming back through New Orleans a few years ago (the remainder were mailed back to me by my friend) *giggles at the thought* I still have to find out when my new IT job is going to schedule me for training. I may still be in Boston for a month training, or I could finish up that Friday, which means I'll need to drive my car back to NYS! So, it's either a train/bus from Boston and back, a train/bus from Albany (if I end up going to CA for more training immediately afterward), or a drive to Beacon, NY and take the train in from there! It's sooooo up in the air crazy! *lol* It will be an adventure just getting there!

I wonder if the Soom people working the table will know what hit them with all the people?

Aa they Four day pass is usually only for professionals and the really rabid fans and the floor show is only i think from 4-7? I asked Soom if they will be selling on Thursday or only setting up.

Man! If I knew someone driving from Columbus who wanted a travel buddy and help with gas, I'd be so tempted to go just to see what they have in store. As it is, I will be content with the fact I'll be able to order my Sard. But I have this feeling that the con exclusives are just going to break hearts and cause money to inexplicably disappear from wallets. XD

If I had the capacity to stop eating to save money and yet NOT starve to death, I would do it. As it is, I am going to pack food everyday, not spend any extra, and possibly eat the cheapest Great Value/ValuTime/"this is made out of toenails and chicken parts" food around. LOL!

 

The roomie was originally going to help out one of the dealers; I'm going to be tagging along with him and pitching in a bit as well. She's actually setting up Wednesday night, and we're expected to be there before the crack of dawn Thursday, since the dealer's room will be open then. I'm not sure who it will be open to exactly, but she told us that it definitely will be open Thursday with our help needed.

 

Maybe you guys can set up a huge Doll Meet? ^^ And maybe invite one or two of the Soom staff to the meet, or maybe meet in front of their desk (and never go away)? XD It would be nice to see this arranged, and I'll be waiting for photos! ^^ I imagine that would be such a huge promotion for Soom...

Bronze is beautiful (and I like it better than the brown skin), but I'm still holding onto that NS Sard dream, haha. c: And to think, I JUST said I wouldn't be getting more dolls. Sigh.

Well, if you can mix and match with a friend, you might get what you want... Let's say your friend orders an NS Chalco with Sard body, and you order NS Sard with Chalco body... and then you switch your Chalco body with her Sard body... voila. NS Sard. XD

 

I don't know about NYCC, but some cons do offer a premium/VIP-type membership where by paying extra, people can get into the dealer's room early, skip the seating line at events and so on. Maybe it's something like that.

I do envy you all who can actually be there! take lots of pix =)=)
