Well, I could be way wrong, but it's been my understanding that 'Soomed' is the feeling of being in love with Soom dolls, whether or not you actually own any yet, and that you can be just as Soomed if you're still dreaming of and saving for your first one, as you can if you own a dozen. But...maybe someone else knows better.

Gave in to my heart and ordered Alex; I just could not help it...=) No waiting room for her yet?

Also, because of my stupid bank, I have to wait till tomorrow to order my boys. Which is no big deal, I can handle the wait. It's just annoying. LOL! I DID calculate everything and was surprised to find shipping a little less than expected. Question is, though, what is the difference between EMS and EMS Premium? Is it worth it?

 

I am still waffling back and forth on whether to get a Bronze or NS Sard. If I get an NS Sard, I would save money and have a body for a possible Alex boy. If I get a Bronze Sard, I probably won't have enough, AND I won't have an extra body for the Alex head!

 

Welp, my plans, they have solidified.

Alex will just have to migrate to my list of 'wanted' dolls, because I'm going with NS Sard and Bronze Heliard.

Turns out the biggest thing making me hesitant about my Bronze Heliot head was just the body I was thinking of getting. As soon as I swapped out the imaginary birdy body for an imaginary hoofy body, I was all set.

It also helps that I can get these two on a 5-month layaway instead of a 6-month and have them shipped together and not have to manage anyone else's money in a split. There's still the trickiness of having to pay off Migma and make their first down payment in the same time period (ouch, my wallet), but that was always going to be a problem.

Now I just have to wait until the 20th to order... *dies*

I really can't wait to see what the WR looks like at the end of the ordering period! It's going to be pretty crowded in there

 

Rarrg, I've ordered my bronze Salco XD I got excited and couldn't wait. And I'm splitting Phonolus with someone. OMG. How shall I keep track of these payments? I'm going to have to write it all down and stick it to the wall.

 

The bronze Sard has now been ordered. Gotta wait 'til payday for the rest. (Insert nail-biting here.) They couldn't take credit cards at the convention since the system was overloaded (MANY booths were having the same issue), so I had to wait to place it now through paypal, eek!

OMG, I'm finally getting a Sard. I pined for the Chalco legs, but... I don't HAVE the Sard ones and they are my favorites of the hooves. *merry squeaking begins*

 

Still must wait til Sunday.

Well, since "Soomed" comes from "doomed", I think it is all about the desire, rather than the actual owning. You are, in fact, surely only "soomed" until you actually have ordered and paid... and then you're just ruined, haha! I think "Soomed" means the decisive moment when you just KNOW you have to have that Soom doll, no matter what it takes - so you definitely don't actually need to own any yet - just definitely be going to get one!

 

Can someone please help me? Where do I find the ordering page? I am a bit confused.

I'm having second thoughts about ordering my Heliot...
I mean I want him, but it's a lot of money and I'd be ordering him behind my dad's back... and my dad scares me when he gets angry, and i know he'll get angry when he finds out... because he told me i'm not allowed to in the first place, so...
I think i'm going to have to talk to my mum again today and then maybe order him when i get back from classes...
Though input from you guys would be nice, because dad's said no and mum's "not said" do it anyway

Wow, you're pretty much in the same seat as me.. Though my dad supports me since it's my decision and my money, my mum is really against it. She really is capable of rage:ing for the even the smallest things so.. :/

I'm also having a bit of second thoughts, but I don't think you should let your parents "decide for you", unless it's their money... In my case I'm thinking since it's my money, I should be able to do what I feel is right. And if I somehow feel like it was a mistake later on I should just accept it and take responsibility.

If you feel like you might not make the right decision today, then just wait.. I mean you have a week to decide And you could always earn the money back later?

Hello, all, I have a question.
(And I'm just going to be upfront about it and say that I'm a newbie and don't know if I'm posting this in the right place or not, but I figured it was related, so I'd probably be okay. If it's wrong, a thousand apologies. )
I love Euclase's body and Heliot's head. But I don't really like them together. Would it be more sensible/cheaper to get both together from SOOM during this event, and then just find them both separate bodies/heads afterwards, or can I get Euclase bodies and Heliot heads in the Marketplace? Do they pop up every so often, or super rarely? And when they do, are they ridiculously expensive?

So, because of my bank, I had to wait till today to order and now I find myself waffling horribly. Do I stick with the original plan of Salco or just get a full Sard. *sigh* Luckily I have to go to the bank to transfer funds so I have more time to think but, man, I don't want to regret my choices. At least I'm firm on my Ioclase.

Also, does anyone know how Soom points work and WHY the Soom points I earned when I paid off my Sabik aren't available to use? Is it because he's still "before shipping"? :-(

 

You won't actually GET the points for your order until your status has been switched to "Shipment Complete" on your order page, which can be a little delayed even after you've received your doll ^.^;

I had a blast at NYCC! I ordered my Marl (with their internet down, I had to wait until I got home early Sunday morning to get on the internet to put my paypal payment through... what I get for leaving my work smart phone home). Victoria was an angel and Anna (I believe was the name of the other woman, though I don't know the spelling) was just as nice. My friend who was not into dolls at all was very patient with me oogling! I should have taken more pictures, but I didn't want to keep my friend waiting too long. I did run into another DoA member on Friday night, and I saw a few other doll interested people either in the Anime Artist's Alley (she had a little Yrie at her booth hanging out with some other dolls) and a few others who spotted my one of my boys (Keny and Bz Aphan)! Wish I had more money to spend or could have done my payment there, I would have gotten a pair of the Shoshon eyes. Totally forgot which booth to look for Surreality. I was walking around as a spear woman Friday and Saturday (Balsa from Moribito). Hehe... Victoria took a picture of my Keny at the booth! I should have stopped by again on Saturday, but Victoria was helping someone put in an order and I didn't want to feel like I was intruding.

I'll post my pics from the Soom Booth in the event gallery tonight or tomorrow, blurry or not! Egads! Phonolus is a big, beefy hunk! Alex was just as lovely. Oh, if money grew on trees. Now, to finalize which Pokesooms I'm ordering from this event! I do hope Soom comes back again next year!

Any reason why you might want a regular Sard or a Salco? For me, I like both concepts, but I wanted the extra joint. If it's up to aesthetics...well, I don't know if I can help you there because that is just personal preference. c:

I've heard that Sards can be a little unstable, particularly on uneven ground. On the other hand, I've heard Chalcos are pretty stable, the leg design lessens chipping (although I've also heard that legs can hit inward, so blush chipping occurs on the inside of the legs, etc), and they can't sit on a table with their legs dangling down because they are too heavy and the whole doll will topple. I can't say the same for Sard one way or another.

 

Going a bit off-topic here but does anyone know where to get Sd17 clothes for the SG boys since that's the only size that fits them nicely?

 

I had an enormous luck today, so I was able to paid half my regular Bronze Sard off!
I'm feeling extra lucky!

I also have something like 20 points left on Soom site, and I'm waiting the right MD to use them! ^^;
After Sard they'll be a little more, this it's a good thing. More point more discount.

I bought outfits from: Tata's paradise, Miyawork, DOP (doll of paradise).
Tata's Paradise have some Raphael (was raphael?) limited outfits and also some SD13 pants fit nicely human Soom.
There are a few tailors here on DoA, check the right marketplace.

I had no idea that Chalco is likely to have internal chipping. I have dealt with mostly top-heavy dolls and alot of the time it leads to knees cracking to just plain breaking (Kasi Dan, Ducan) The only doll that had internal chipping didn't really have a problem, no acutal broken parts. From looking at the design Aphan looks most similar to Chalcos and a number of people had to contact Soom about leg cracking problems and replacement parts. You don't suppose that would happen to Chalco's body do you?

 

Violet: I think they mean chipping of the Blushing, not the actual resin. My Chalco's legs never hit hard enough together to break the resin but the blushing is easy to chip if you don't take care in the leg movement.

 

Oh my gosh! Thank goodness! *sigh of relief* I was thinking serious chipping here D: Body blushing will fade or chip with just changing clothes frequently, thats not a problem with me. Back to trying to get him then *sweats*

Sad to say, it looks like I might be unable to get my Heliot now, after my epiphany today that I shouldn't be on the university course I'm on, as I'd be paying for my Heliot out of my student loan fund which would need to be paid back if i dropped out of the course...
When are they taken off the market, 24th?
I might still be able to order him but later, it all depends on what happens with me now because I know this course isn't right for me, just just depends on where i decide to go from here if i can order him or not... I really want him, but if I'm going to have to give back my student loan money, that's an extra £500 i'm going to have to find to pay back...

 

1. These are LE colors that may or may not be released in the future. So this might be your only chance to get a brand-new bronze Euclase or Heliot (for example).
2. The old 2008 versions do pop up occasionally. I'm sure the Event dolls will show up as well.
3. Prices are going to vary based on demand. I usually see Soom heads for $300-600 depending on the sculpt.

If I were you I'd buy them together now, then trade/sell the parts you don't want later.

 

When I asked at the convention, Victoria is the one who handles a lot of that part of the process. Since the convention ended less than 24 hours ago, and the flight back is at least 12 hours, I would give them a little time to be able to get home, get a bit of sleep, before worrying. You can send a paypal payment directly from paypal, also -- just put your user name and the order number in the title of the email from paypal (where the form defaults to 'You have money!' or something similar) and in the comment/note box below. They usually are able to check those and get them sorted out for you pretty quickly. You can always leave a note on Q&A telling them you've sent the payment manually -- I have always had to do this since I'm on a mac, so you wouldn't be the only one doing this sort of thing -- and include the paypal transaction number to be especially safe if you're concerned.

They never actually implemented the layaway fee. It's still in the notes and documentation, but it hasn't ever gone into effect. When it was originally posted, a lot of people were quite upset; Soom is a great company that really does care about their customers, and they listened to the feedback they were getting and never put it in place in practice. It's still there in the notes, but they don't actually charge it.
