No he doesn't. He had just the basic human body (his "fantasy" parts were an extra head and the lion mask), but that body is not offered in this event. If you pick his head, you get the scar face head and lion mask and you will have to pick one of the fantasy bodies that is listed on their chart.

 

Reading back over, Heliot's taller than regular SG boys because of this long leg thing? Whoo!

Right, that's what most people are doing. Like my "Heliard" is a Heliot head on a Sard body.
You can only order one head and one body, but they can be mix-and-match. =)=)

My Soom msd come slightly above my SG's waist. So it appears to me that those msd might be on a lower shelf. Just my thoughts . And I'm glad I ordered Alex, but I have a feeling that Phonolus is going to be one of those dolls I regret not buying!

the Con write ups and pictures have been great - breathes life into the event (for those who are not able to attend) and to put faces to names too and has made me really sold on Phonolus, the centaurs minis thankfully have passed me by (phew as I adore purple) - safe!

Second Teja, would *love* to see more pictures of Phonolus (who seems to be standing next to Alex) so any comparison (in size pics) would be really greatfully received ... trying to imagine how big Phonolus actually is and the colour of the Tawny resin - does it look ok, is it orangy or coppery etc ..?

Thank You, for the Soom reports I never been to a con..so hearing about them from those who have gone is wonderful. I wonder what these Soom pink bags look like. Are they cute? I would get on this event, if I didn't already have a soom on layaway.

I just came back from the con! I went straight to the soom both! I fell head over heels for Alex she looks better than her promo pics, so i placed an order for her! But the other dolls they had were awesome! seeing them in person was the a great treat! I hope they come back next year! I took some pics!

Just a quick question: at the Soom booth, are the taking credit card through the website or do they have the card machine? Just to make sure. XD

the system was down so they weren't taking credit card, maybe if the system is up then yes, they will take credit cards.
When u see Phonolus, u will fall in love with him, he looks freaking amazing!

 

Okay I just paid for two Smokey's! I got one of each and yes Victoria said they will come with two pairs of random eyes free.
In some of my talks with Victoria she said they would like more feedback on the Male Super gem body. I confess I have some problems with my Chalco. His upper torso joint likes to tip backwards very easily and it makes standing him difficult. I don't really have this problem with the female super gem. I really wish they would completely update the Super Gem body. I feel like the arms posing and body could use a touch of the mega Gem update. If anyone else has any issues with the Male Super Gem body please comment here or on the Soom Message board as Victoria says if there is enough interest they may look into an update.

 

I'd love to see an update to the male SG body, heck the girls too. I would LOVE a 3 part torso for the girls, something with the underbust joint that a lot of companies seem to be doing. It's a natural looking place to put a joint, motion looks fluid from that point, and a lower hip joint. As a girl who slouches, I would love it if the SG girls could do the same. Good posture is nice, but it can be a tad hard to work with.

Another thing I'd love to see, redesigned elbow joints. The newer design is good yes, but I feel like the "peanut" styled joints just aren't the best for posing. As a for instance, Aria doll does amazing elbows on their girls. You can engage the double joint with one finger, and it stays. It's basically a teardrop sort of piece that fits into their elbows, looks single jointed until it engages as a double joint piece. It's pretty slick looking too, both with the arm straight and with it bent. While I don't want to say "copy other companies" I think there is something to be said for studying the others.

Anything they could do to allow more fluid natural posing would be just amazing. To compare to another company, Fairyland went nuts with their newer lines, but the joints work, are stable, look amazing, and the poses they allow! I would love to see Soom's take on something like that.

For the SGs with heavy fantasy legs especially, hip socket locks would be great. My Amber can be a bit of a challenge to stand because her body has to be over her legs in an odd place and she's essentially balancing on her thigh joints. Hip locks would make the fantasy dolls MORE stable, especially if their center of gravity is a little off. Granted with Chalco they revised the design a bit since he was made to balance right over his hips basically, he stood like a rock compared to my Amber who is still a constant battle. lol

On the SG males, amen on the torso flipping Nightmareally. Again, I'd like to suggest joint locks to hopefully keep or maybe even improve the range of motion. Definitely keep the 3 part torso the boys have, perhaps look into improving mobility but esthetically they're awesome as is.

Otherwise keep up the creativity and the variety (or don't, they're slowly bankrupting me! lol), and send Victoria some love for being so helpful when it comes to questions, problems, and the other things we barrage her with on the Q&A board. I know I really appreciate how fast she responds.

 

heidpay, thanks so much for the Phonolus pictures and of the others too I can see the immense appeal of Alex but needs must when prioritising and tawny skin will go fabulous with Brown Tan and the future Bronze (tripple yum!)

on the male SG body - completely agree and backup all that has been said above by Skahmet's comprehensive list and would like to highlight the keeping of the 3 joint body, ie hips and chest and still rather gutted that the MG body has no hip joint (body can be rather bricky) (my second ever doll body was the Dollstown15 with that slouch of his which has sold me on the 3-piece body ever since )

one thing may add, and this is only when in comparison with a buffer body, or when have fantasy leg parts which over elongate the body, is that the SG can seem rather lanky... could suggest that MD fantasy bodies have broader shoulders/ribcage to offset this perhaps? but that would not be for the generic SG body though (this was just a stray thought )

 

Can somebody going to the Con find out how Phonolus's wings are attached?

 

Arrggg... I've been looking at pictures of Phonolus... Now I'm starting to waver between wanting HIM, or an Io scarface on a Chrom body >.< Sard on a Chalco body is given, but which cat-man do I get?!

-I love Io's scarface and mask, but I'm not that fond of the Chrom hands...
- The megagem body and fantasy parts are so kickass! But I'm not 100% sold on his face yet (but he is nice and masculine).

Is anybody else who was planning on getting an Iorom (Io/Chrom) wavering because of this MD?

 

not wavering on a IO/Chrom per se .... I already have a (human head)Euclase with Chrom legs and in addition to getting the Bronze Sard was going to get a Chrom head with Euclase body and reswitch the heads over ... I really adore Chrom, his face and fantasy parts but really prefer Phonolus's fantasy legs (tawny skin looks so much more fun than NS too)... so now making the hard decision on what to do as I do not want Crom as well as Phonolus wolfy/cat parts.

think I have made a decision to get Phonolus(and that fab outfit) - as I am on a split to get Obsidious's fantasy legs, will swop them out from Euclase - so no repeating of fantasy legs! Euclase will look so much better with Obsidious legs anyway (was going originally for a feline-look which hasn't quite worked out) also feel relieved now as after looking up the layaway rules (first time for me) and saw the charge for a layaway had to rethink my strategy

Soom doesn't charge for layaways! It says that on the site, but it's outdated and they don't actually do it. Trust me, I've had a few layaways with Soom now XD

I would also like if they Made the joint under the bust for both their SG male and female but I don't want a hip joint since the one I've had barely moved and it looks ugly :/

 

I don't I have any good constructive input for the re-vamping of their bodies. *sweats*
But have totally made up my mind on who I shall be taking home. Yay for being stubborn!

 

I don't have input on the bodies either, since I do not own one. I will say, though, that I love lanky bodies and was surprised to find the SG body more lanky than I thought. I actually would love it kept that way but that may just be me.

In other news, I can't wait till monday! I want to go ahead and order my boys! I've decided they are my official Christmas present to myself. I usually get myself something nice and nothing will be nice than a grail doll and a pretty companion.

Wow, Phonolus is growing on me. Every time I see photos of him I wish I could order two dolls.
But...my want for Chrom is stronger. No impulse buying this time.

My Chrom is an incredibly stiff poser compared to my other boys, and it drives me a little crazy sometimes / I've considered selling off his body and finding a replacement. I was a little surprised when I got my Bygg that he posed so well (a very happy surprise, nevertheless) considering how difficult Chrom tends to be.


Alex seems to be growing on me, and even though I'm not a big fan of the two-tones centaurs their faces are so adorable...trying to resist trying to split them

I *was* gonna get a bronze Sard on a Chalco body... But I can't get him in bronze AND a Phonolus in tawny... x_X I think I'm going to have to downgrade my Salco to NS The price of bronze is just prohibitive, especially when compared to the fact that Phonolus is only $60 more in tawny than in CW, AND you're getting more parts.

But what I really want is a bronze Salco!

I know I don't put up many post, but I just wanted to say it was great meeting and chatting it up with some of you. The dolls were beautiful and can't wait to work on some blushing. I also wanted to give a big shout out to Victoria for being super sweet, working so hard to keep us informed and caring so much about our complaints/suggestions.

Just got home, ready to collapse into an OMG SO LITTLE SLEEP HOW DID I SURVIVE?! sort of coma. Full report after the sleep deficit is restored. I am perpetually lazy with the camera -- or in this case, forgot to actually put it in my purse when we left our friends' place... *facepalm*

Everyone I met was beyond awesome. I hope they do this again in part so we all can do this again! And with more people! Even while going nuts with work at the table (and meeting the people I more or less work for and have for nearly 5 years now face to face for the first time on the other side of the con) I had a total blast.

Victoria is the sweetest and most patient person in the universe. I am convinced of this. She was the most gracious person I have ever met in a dealer's booth.

They seemed surprised at the response -- they expected a few of us, but apparently not quite so many. I am so glad it worked well for them and I hope the online event does very well also. They mentioned that a gentleman stopped by who had never seen dolls like these, and ordered a Phonolus on the spot! That's definitely an encouraging sign, and I hope a sign of things to come for them. I think they have a lot of potential for a crossover audience with some of the action figure and resin model kit collectors, especially due to the fantasy parts, and it seems like that showed at the convention.

They had adorable tiny pins to hand out, and I suspect one of the dolls is going to have to be wearing it forever now.

I go thud-face on the pillows now, and dream of shiny, shiny things!

 

damasquerade - just a heads up if you want bronze, get bronze as I think you may regret it ... I originally ordered a NS Chalco and luckily changed my mind in time to amend to Brown Tan - best decision ever made! The resin ton really changes Chalco's look (there is a DOA member who has a Chalco in every different colour - and each one looks really different and if you can find that post, it could help you decide perhaps?)

I did the same with Ender, but wasn't in time for the upgrade to Brown and the NS body for Ender with the Jackel head isnt really doing anything for me unfortunately so now waiting for the Dollstown18 release so I can get a nice body in dark tan to complete my Anubis look (Anubis has black skin for authentic look which is difficult to get).

Stitch in time approach if you think on it, you are spending an extra $60 for tawny (for Phonolus) does that make the price difference easier? Chalco's fantasy parts are rather hefty too - you wont be disappointed ^_-

 

surreality - congrats on surviving and making it back in one piece so glad it has been successful for Soom, but slightly gutted as I dont think there eough demand in the UK to make it work for Soom to come over (or who knows )
action figures/kit collectors would appreciate these MDs I think (attending Comic Con was really well thought out by Soom) - when the collectors get onto further into it and realise they can mix n match of different parts, expecially between companies, a little modding aside ... and that there is at least some assembling to do on arrival and some paint work involved with the blushing (if not is ordered) - right up their alley!

Me, me, I have the Chalcos. X3 Bronze is a lighter colour than Chalco's original brown tan, though.

 

HNNNGGG... I'm doing some wrangling in order to try and be able to afford both a tawny Phonolus and a bronze Salco. If I sell some clothes and dolls, and/or open a split for the human Phonolus head... it might be possible! If not, I'll just have to settle for NS Salco :/ But I never did like the look of Chalco or Sard in NS... /cry
