    2. Dont down yourself ^ ^
Some people may sew better than others, but not everyone likes the same style ;)

    3. It doesn't matter to be the best!! the important is to enjoy youeself sewing and express your creativity and personality!!
I've seen amazing works, but what I liked most is that everyone of has who entered has tried to do is best and that the fantasy of everyone has produced so many different and original results!!
OH!How many amazing thing can a pair of socks be!!!

      .

    6. ohh, wow these are all so great!

    10. Thank you very much, Brennil!

I am so happy and excited! I send my thanks to everyone who organized and participated in this contest!

I thought it would be interesting to post the socks that I had used as well:

I used a lot of of very old, worn socks and also a few new ones as well. I used about 9 pairs of nylons throughout the whole outfit, 6 of them being for the ruffles. I don't think I ever want to make ruffles out of sheer nylon for a very long time...

I loved seeing everyone's entries! DoA is filled with a lot of talent, thanks to everyone for sharing your beautiful creations!

    11. I would happily participate in this if it was set up :) If anyone was interested in mine that is :sweat

    12. I didn't see an announcement and was wondering which entry number won. Squishtaru...it was yours? Congrats!! Which number were you?

    13. Grats Squishtaru! Your dress was amazing, I can't imagine sewing on all those
ruffles o.0 and everyone else had such great entries, it was a lot of fun to be
part of, and everyone wins because in the end our dolls all have new outfits! :D

    14. Come on, guys...help me out. Which number is Squish's?

    15. hey merangel heres the link with the numbers and names of who made what.

    18. congrats squishtaru!! It was a beautiful work!

Does anyone who did entries, thinking to sell the outfit too?
If you thinking to sell, what will be the best price range if its for sale?

      Anyone have a good suggestion???

    19. :lol:I knew that one was the winner when I saw it! Anybody who sews that many tiny ruffles earned that doll:lol::aheartbeacongratulations! My sewing machine broke and I had to sew mine by hand:sweatwhat a pain-But Violet is happy with her new dress as she was naked before:lol:

      (mine was #4 XD;; )

    23. Congrats! :D
This was a fun contest to attend, I hope there will be more contests like this in the future!

    24. I can't believe I've not posted in here yet, but congrats to Squishtaru! :XD: I adored your outfit (seriously, I'd buy something like that <3) & love that it came from a pile of tights, lol!

I'd love to see or hear what base materials others used & what your inspiration was! Here's mine :)

My design (#45) was inspired by the wild Punk-Pop look of the early 1980's, with it's sexy, assymetrical lines & bold, clashing patterns. Think Pat Benetar meets Blondie meets Souxsie & the Banshees. I think of this outfit as a "Punk Rock Princess" out at the club. I added a striped pair later that are not pictured, as they were ones I had worn that developed a runner, lol! Practically everything is handstitched due to the thin & stretchy nature of the material. Her tights, choker, armbands & hair accessories are all made of or accented by sock material. I intentially pulled & shredded the edges of the skirt a bit to enhance the punk feel of the design. The only fastener used is a single snap in the back. The dress slips on easily, feet-first.

The only things I didn't make were the wig & the boots (well, and the doll, of course!) And that's enough from me ^__^

    25. Congrats Squishtaru! Your outfit is awesome!!!

I didn't notice who won second & third place though.. does anyone know who they were?

    26. I used almost the exact same materials for my dress (#92 - below)! But I used gold beads for the jewelry/pintucks, you used cute little pearls. (By the way, I really loved your doll's wig, I thought she looked perfect in her gown, the hair and veil worked so well together! : ) I'm going to post some links to other views of my outfit, since I took waaaay more than four shots. I hope no one minds too much. It's fun to see all the raw materials, kind of makes the finished product look even more amazing by comparison, ya know?

    27. I'm not sure is someone liked it, but I'd love to tell you a bit about mine entry#38
It has been made using three pair of collants 1 violet 1 purple 1 orange. a few plastic perlescent beads and a hand made brass hook, that is not visible but has been used to join the front and back per of the collar.
It's a one piece body suit with a coordinated bag , matching armbands and a pair of "sandals". I've made also the wig using only orange collants.
It has been enterely hand sewn with a lot of fun!XD I usuallly draw patterns and cut them on fabric, but this time I've builded this outfit directly on my minifee body, without pattern making.Collants (lycra) is a very interesting material...it can be used in a lot of ways!
The concept was : The Rave Party Queen
My mnf Sabrina asked me to make her a complete outfit 'cause she's been invited at a rave Party from a superbeautiful Resin Boy...Omg I've only three Pair of socks!XD

    28. Here are the long-winded details I submitted with my entry (#47).

The five-piece “sock couture” outfit being modelled by my teenage Iplehouse J.I.D. would be appropriate for a college interview or after-school job as an office assistant. These classic wardrobe basics were made through a combination of machine-sewing and hand-sewing. With the exception of the hem on the pants, which uses iron-on hem tape, no Stitch-Witchery or fabric adhesive was used, although a liberal amount of Fray-Stop was applied. The sock fabric was draped and cut on the doll herself. No patterns or measurements were used.

The sleeveless white shirt with asymmetrical ruffled collar was made from a pair of women’s athletic crew socks. The collar was made from a pair of girl’s folded cuff dress socks. The pink lettuce-edged ruffle from those socks was used instead of borrowing more traditional lace trim from another pair of socks because of the recognizable sockiness it contributes to the overall look. The shirt closes in the back with Velcro.

The wrap-front sweater was made from a pair of women’s fuzzy crew socks. The belt and matching striped hobo-style purse were part of an individual women’s striped crew sock. The elastic-waist palazzo pants were made from a pair of men’s patterned dress socks, with gray and light blue dots that compliment the bright aqua sweater.

The most detailed and complex part of the outfit, the vintage-inspired, tapestry-patterned coat was made from two identical pair of trouser socks attached to medium-weight fusible interfacing. The coat consists of 14 individual pieces, including the contrasting trim. It has princess seams and a flared “skirt” with double slits in the rear. The black collar, cuffs, and trim piece at the rear waist were made from the foot part of a pair of women’s ribbed black dress socks. The double-breasted coat closes with six functional black buttons in hand-sewn buttonholes.

      Other fun facts:
Total number of socks that contributed to this outfit – 15 (all new)
Trips to the store for socks – 4
Number of stores visited - 3
Number of socks destroyed and not used at all in the finished product - 4
Number of unused, unwanted socks purchased that are now in need of a good home – 11 pair and 2 individual socks

I was amused that those Wal-mart trouser socks were so popular - being used in 4 entries!

    29. Congrats Squishtaru!! I thought your entry was fantastic!
Model my beloved Bobobie Sprite. ^^ Valerie.

      I loved yours kscness!! *heart*

      Here was mine. ^^

I made it out of a pair of trouser socks. Same pair as thegashlycrumb actually. ^^ ahh great minds buy the same socks. And why not. they were lovely. I decided to design a High Fairy Court Guard outfit. Something that the guard can wear and be formal but be able to take off the over dress and move around in if they needed to. The coat was from a knitted slipper sock. I didn't use the suede sewed on the bottom yet. I'll eventualy make shoes.

    30. I really enjoyed your sock wig! :fangirl:

    31. this is my humble offering for the contest.
the parts i am most proud of are the sock-boots and the bunny which i stuffed with left over sock bits ^_^

    33. This was one of my faves!! The bunny was just precious :whee:

    34. I really enjoyed seeing everyone's entries! This was a fun contest, but I kind of burned out after making the hoodie. The dress was kind of thrown together. Since everyone else is doing it, here's my outfit and what I used:

The hoodie used a whole lot of socks! I actually had to go back to the store and get another pair. I was going to use the lace socks for lining the hood, but ended up using pink mesh socks instead.

I used these nylons around the hem of the dress and they were so NOT fun to work with!
