Where does it say card isn't allowed ?
Also, if we're not allowed to use card, what's interfacing?

I need to put it in between two pieces of sock, as part of my design.

 

Card hasnt been mentioned yet, but im just assuming it wont be allowed.
Interfacing is a stiff fabric used for...stiffening things >_> it looks and feels like a giant thick dryer sheet

 

A mod has already clarified that zippers are OK, as long as they're used as closures.

Additionally, for those of you worried about card -

- which means I suppose you could use card to support the design (like to back the sock to put in eyelets etc) as that's what interfacing fabric does, but not use the card as part of the design.

 

Is it ok if you use card stock or wire to shape the pantyhose? I want to know if my outfit is ok before I submit it!

I've Just sent my entry! I'm so excited to see everyone's work. i think it will be a brilliant showcase!!

 

It is with much regret and a heavy heart *sigh* that I withdraw myself from this competition.I just dont have the time or energy to finish the outfit.

My fiance (PICTUS01) and I rescued a dog from a shelter on Monday and she is taking up most of my time now. Touching story though: PICTUS' friend emailed him letting him know that one of the puppies that his dog Titan had fathered was in a shelter in Ocean City and about to be put down. So we hopped in the car and went on alittle road trip. So now he is reunited with the dog he hasnt seen in three years (since she was nine months old). Sorry if that was OT.

Ok, this question may seem odd, but here it goes. About the picture size - when you say "maximum of 400x600 px", do you mean we absolutely cannot go over that size? For example, a standard photo size in pixels is 480x640. To reduce one of these dimensions would of course reduce the other, making an awkward size & I'm not sure my Photobucket will let me upload it, lol! (Ok, it probably will; but I'm a worrywart!) For my picture to fit within those parameters, I'll either have to reduce the size further or crop it, which I don't really want to do.

Please advise, as I'd hate to be disqualified over the wrong photo size! Thanks in advance!

 

Stick to the maximum photo size and don't go over. I'm pretty sure you'd be disqualified otherwise, or else a maximum photo size wouldn't have been posted in the first place.

Please make sure your photos are the right size. I resized oversized pictures for the Winter contests, but it took forever and I'm not doing it again! Oversized pics will just not be used.

Yes, that's fine.

 

You scale the image, you don't crop it (unless you want to crop it). Open the image in paint, or photoshop or elements or similar, and scale it from there. iPhoto allows you to scale on export. There's myriad ways of doing it.

Then you send it to photobucket or picasa or flickr or whatever.

Sadly i don't think my BJD is going to get here in time for me to enter this she has not been shipped yet, oh well ^^ I would have liked to enter because some of my socks are getting holes so they would be a perfect re-use of them.

I look forwards to seeing what people come up with though, that should be fun.

 

ooh I'm almost done..just some finishing details and such! It's so much fun to make and I'm pretty happy with how it came out I think it will be dark by the time I'm finished, so I'll just take pictures tomorrow..

So, yarn isn't allowed, but embroidery thread is. Where is the line between yarn and thread drawn and could we then technically embroider with yarn?

 

i think they meant that yarn is not allowed to be knitted or crochetted such that new "fabrics" are created. they want everything to be made of sock.

I think you have a good chance just like everyone else and on the plus side you can chose the best out of the two outfits for it and then post the other one later

Gracewing, I'm sure you have more than an hour. I believe they're going by Pacific time, which is about 3:30 in the afternoon at the moment. ^^

Doesn't this mean that you're allowed to send in entries the entire August 10th as well? That's the impression I get when I look in the calendar too.

I'm done with the sewing but I would love to wait with the photos until I get proper daylight tomorrow (since it's in the middle of the night here) but not if that means that I'm missing the deadline.

That was my impression also. But I made quick snapshots of the outfit and submit the entry today.

Well, they mentioned in the fashion design contest that the deadline was according to Pacific time, so I assume it was for all contests.

 

Actually, that contest, as all of them, had a deadline of Eastern Standard time.

Sorry for the confusion! We never altered the date on the calendar when we were finalizing the rules for the contest.

As the calendar still lists August 10th as the due date for entries, we will accept entries up until 11:59 EST today. Thank you!

Thank you for the extension! That is when I thought the deadline actually was, since the rules state by August 10. I always interpret that as the deadline being midnight on that day, not the day before, so I would have been out of luck-I didn't send my photos in until very early this morning. Perhaps the rules could say something like-"Deadline (or maybe Cut-off) for entries-date/time." It would be a little clearer. I want to enter another contest that says "by August 15", so I guess that means I have to have the entry done by midnight on the 14th?

BTB, I've just been going by the written rules for the deadlines-I don't know where the calendar is.

 

grrrrrrrrr!! im really bummed at all this confusion! i sent my PM last night and while i was linking all the photos to it, i read a post on here that said the deadline was 12pm EST LAST NIGHT!!! so i realized i only had like 2!!! minutes left and shot the PM to Truffle. Then I looked at it and realized i SENT THE WRONG PHOTO in my haste!!!! so i sent another PM but now im worried that i will get disqualified for sending 2 PMs or leaving something out of my explanation! ohhhhh im sooooo stressed!

 

Please relax...you won't be disqualified; we'll look at the PMs and know what happened. Also, when you have a concern like this, rather than just posting in panic into the thread, PM a moderator. That'll bring it to our attention quicker. Thank you.
