SIO2 Doll

I think Sio2 might rerun him and Hanshuang at some point. I asked her and she didn't give a definitive answer about no more reruns. Just that she is focusing on the new doll for this year.

 

Ah really? I didnt know she had the plans to no longer pre-order it or at least not in the near future.

 

@keiosk well Taolu and the other heads that are available in stock right now were extras from the preorder that she ran late last year. And when those heads first appeared in 2017 she said there would be no repeat preorder. So I'm not giving up on Little Prince and Hanshuang just yet... And hey, you're Pinoy!

 

I just got a little prince head second hand recently ; u ; he’s so precious but finding him a suitable body is tougher than I thought!

Any chance anyone know if Loongsoul 69cm body will fit Taolu head? Or if the white resin will match? I'm on the fence of buying the one because of the body/resin match.

 

@keiosk he is such a soft faced sculpt,but his neck hole is quite large! So all the larger bodies that would fit him are very muscular and , in my opinion, look a little strange with his face! Hopefully he has a body soon though, I’ve got a couple in mind, I just need to settle on one and save for it.

 

@keiosk yes, I'm on ManikaManila. Have only joined one meet so far though, and I ddn't have any dolls to bring with me yet.

I bought an in-stock normal skin Taolu head, and it should be on its way this month. Now I'm scared I won't be able to find a body to match him/her, both in terms of resin match and body size.

 

@fionvarre normal skin might be a bit easier than their white! And a good face up can make a lot of normal skins match. They seem to be quite big heads though! Hopefully it’s easier if she s a girl, but for boys it seems there are only super muscular options, for the most part, or small, young boy looking, no in between. I’m hoping the new Granado doll body, the supermodel body I think it’s called, has the right neck size, that one looks slim enough and not overly muscular.

 

Hello, I just bought an in-stock cold dew head does anyone know if she can go on a dollshe 26f body or a soom supergem body? I know that it says both bodies have a 10cm neck circumference but I was wondering if it would look ok in terms of proportion.

 

Got a shipping notice on my Cold Dew. So excited! x_x except the expected delivery is on Monday and I will be at work.....

Gotta work for the doll money.... don't have a body yet....

 

I also got a shipping notice for my two. I ordered at the very end of the pre-order, so I am happy to see they are coming home!

 

My HanLu arrived today! Gosh, I've been getting lucky with my doll heads, like they just zoom through international really fast lately. Glad, I don't have to spend my work day distracted about the safety of my doll (haven't had package theft yet, but I am a paranoid type)

The head feels very fresh off the workbench with lots of resin smell and a little bit of dust and for some reason a rando hunk of eye putty was stuck on the corner of my box?

The size of the head is similar to my Iplehouse Chris who I put on a HID woman body. Hanlu absolutely does not fit on the HID woman body.

Makoeyes 12mm with 6mm iris fits nice, but she looks a bit sleepy. I have some 12mm eyes with 4mm irises which I like on my Iplehouse, but I think since Han Lu's eyes are drooper, 4mm iris just give her a weird expression. I have some 5mm iris 10mm eyes, the iris looks good but it fits gappy. So I guess this means I am gonna try 12mm eyes with 5mm iris. I have been eyeing SOULinaBoxdolls on etsy.

I don't have many girl bodies to test on, but compared to the bodies I've got. 9cm works in that it doesn't look gappy in back or anything since SIO2's neckhole doesn't flare out much but visually, I think it is like juuuusssttttt a smidge on the thin side. It's definitely in that "can fudge it with long wig" range though. 10cm looks better.

Now to think about bodies....

 

@zekarmisama I'll be waiting for your feedback on different bodies! I actually impulse bought all the heads except Sue since Sio2 said that she might not run another preorder period for them anymore... At least not until all her new projects launch

 

BJDivas had an in-stock Dollshe 26F girl, so I sent an e-mail about layaway for that. That escalated quickly...

I was originally going to pair her with my David Kuncci, but the David head is too slender next to her. So I think I'm gonna pair her with Pygmalion Robin instead who is also on the 28M body.

Of the bodies I have on hand, she looks nicest on the Angel of Dream boy body (I mean I definitely had a super stingy idea to just make a heavily padded bra and use a boy body instead lol), but that makes her look too short for what I want.

After a bit of a tense morning where I thought they would be delivered a state away, my Taolu and Bailu heads are here! I think someone will temporarily lose their body while I play around with eyes and wigs. Bailu has the most detailed teeth, holy smokes.

 

Face-upped my gal. No wig yet. I ordered some fibers and they were too dark for what I wanted for her and now I ordered yet more fibers. I'm gonna be making so many blonde wigs.... And ordered some Soulinaboxdolls eyes for her. But that's gonna be a month long wait.

I got my Dollshe 26F body for my Cold Dew.

I like the proportions and the head sits well on it. My only issues with the Dollshe 26F body is.... her flat feet are longer but thinner than HID woman feet and her ankle is thinner than HID so I couldn't just make her use Iplehouse feet to share shoes, so it's like sldkghdlkfhsjph and Dollshe sculpted some insanely jutting out shoulder blades which is confusing the heck out of my pattern making.

.....slowly trying to draft a regency style empire waist but she looks just kind of frumpy in my currently attempt.



Resin match between Dollshe Oriental is closer but not 100% to SIO2 normal because Dollshe's resin is more beige-y, like less saturated looking.

The body is Dollshe Fresh which I might end up dyeing. I keep craving dolls that are a more defined peach color and Dollshe Oriental is still a bit more pale than I want and Dollshe Copper Oriental is a little more brown toned than I want. I think my ideal color would be like Dollshe Peach Fresh (if it wasn't transluscent) or Pygmalion warm ivory. I got over my fear of dyeing and now I just want to dye so much lol. It's just so much trouble to get skin tones I like because I want like the more intense end of "normal" tone than the off-white sorts of tones.

 

WHELP. I caved and bought White Dew, and WOW she's ridiculously pretty!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know about Misheng? I came across her on Stacys Pink Ocean but I cant find any other photos. Is she new or is there a different name for her sculpt that I'm missing ?

 

I haven’t seen anything about her on her Etsy, so it must be just meant for the Chinese market right now. We might see an official international release later down the line. She’s cute! Too cute.

The 5StarDoll body does look promising! My Sio2 heads are all floaters right now. Would anyone have any idea if it's normal (pink) or normal yellow that would match Sio2's normal better?

Anybody have tried the Taolu head with a Iplehouse body? If so, which one would fit better in your opinion? I dont really care about the resin matching, the faceup will take care of that.... I saw that the neck hole would fit the YID body, but Im not sure if the head will just be too big for the body!

 

Hi everyone, I'm hoping you can help me. I am trying to buy a secondhand Cold Dew on FB, and the owner (who doesn't have a real FB pic or feedback - slight red flags) sent me these pics.

She said the Cold Dew is "first batch", so it doesn't have the imprinted logo on the head - is that true?

 

@drifts I have an old Cold dew (purchased here on DOA from another member back in 2016- I believe from the very first batch). My Cold dew doesn't have any sort of imprinted logo on the head. The COA of mine does however look much different from the COA you have posted a photo of.
When did the seller of the Cold Dew you're about to purchse say the head was made?

 

Didn't Sio2 start the logo early last year because of recasts on Taobao and social media?

Did you have one of the gold coins with yours? She said she lost the one with her head (which I can believe tbh, especially if it's a few years old), but if the first batch didn't even come with the gold coin, I would be suspicious...

@drifts My Cold Dew didn't come with the gold coin- but I purchased my Cold dew 2nd hand, so the first owner may just have lost it. In the photos you posted, there is written 2912 in ink on the inside of the head cap- did the person selling tell you what that means?

Could you send the photo of this COA to the actual company and ask if they ever issued COAs like it? She sure is beautiful, and it would be a shame to miss her if she's legit!

 

@Lotte Rotten Good to know - I thought I saw a post on Insta saying that Sio2 started the gold coin somewhat recently, but it's kinda strange to me that the seller said she "lost" the gold coin (and not that it didn't come with it...) I might just be a little over-cautious!

@StellaMarigold I did send Sio2 the photos on Instagram, to no response yet. She is very very lovely, but I also like to do my own faceups (not this nice though ).

I actually had another offer of someone to sell one to me, who had lots of feedback. She took my offer of the same price as the other person, and is in a number of the same BJD FB groups as I am, which makes me feel a little better. Thank you for your help, and I'm so happy to join the Sio2 Club!!

 

@drifts - I hope the company gets back to you (just for future information) but I'm happy you found another seller who made you feel more comfortable!

It's really nice that you can do your own faceups - I hope you'll share when you have finished this one. Cold Dew is an enchanting sculpt, and makes me wish I could handle SDs.

I'm sure it is somewhere in this thread, but I'm not a great digger... can anyone with a Cold Dew say off the top of their head if 14mm or 16mm fit better? I'm thinking 14mm small iris eyes might look good.

Hi again! Can anyone speak to Sio2 NS and Dollshe's resin match? Sio2 seems pretty light, so maybe Dollshe's Fresh would match? Or, would Oriental be better? (In other words, does anyone have Sio2 NS that they can compare with either Dollshe Fresh or Oriental? Haha)

 

Aramis is Fresh, SIO2 NS in the middle, Kuncci is Oriental.

Both of them are older too and I heard Dollshe has gotten a little pinker over the years

@drifts I have a Dollshe Oriental from 2018 and I can confirm what @zekarmisama says that the Oriental skin colour does seem slightly more pink these days.

 

@zekarmisama @Lotte Rotten Thank you!! Hmm, that's a toughie... it looks like Fresh isn't terribly far off, but might be better to blush the head to match Oriental... I'll definitely keep it in mind!

 

I did something kind of ~wild~ and got a 68cm Loongsoul body on the Marketplace at a nice price... I wanted to see how Cold Dew would look on a bigger body, and I wanted a good poser, so it seemed like a good choice. I suspect she will look a little pinheaded, but I think that will make her a good match for my incoming Dollshe Saint!

I will post pictures for reference once she's here and strung :-)

 

@drifts I think your Cold Dew head will work Ok on a 68cm body- after all, the size of this head is quite big. My Cold dew is on an old Dollstown13 SD body- I sometimes think the head would look nicer on a slightly bigger body, but I personally feel any dolls bigger than regular SD size is too much doll for me to handle haha^^ Please do post photos once you get your doll put together, would be nice to see :3

I just found out about this doll company last week and I've fallen in love with their 1/3 head sculpts. Looking around online it seems only Qiankun is in stock.

Does anyone know if Sio2 is planning to make any female head sculpts soon? Should I follow their Weibo or similar for updates? I love the realism of their heads and have been trying to find a good girl's head!

P.S. I've seen the Misheng head here: [SIO2]Misheng head-Limited - stacyspinkocean.com but it reminds me of Angell Studio Xi Shi, whom I already have!

 

My girls finally have faceups, after these years! I tried my Taolu on my Super Gem body. That face is so much cuter now that she’s made up!

@Ruyilala I keep an eye on SIO2s Instagram page as I find they often post updates on there for new dolls they are working on. I do hope they will make more SD sized girls head soon- their dolls are so beautiful :3

So out of curiosity (and the fact that I'm kind of itching for a new doll) I experimented with my Taolu head on my Dollzone 56 girl body (NB56-001):

I actually really like the match!
While I also tried her on my EID body, the neck was way to thick. And after placing her on the body I realized that the April Story Clover (whose body it originally was) looked weirdly small.

So now Clover needs a new body ><[/SPOILER]

 

Having resin match woes. Spiritdoll (which was stated as a match and which I had around home before I got the head) is not in fact a match. It looks like, based on artist pictures, that Luts 2016 'normal' (not real skin normal) is pretty close? I also have an oYID body that isn't a horrible match, but there is a noticeable difference.

Anything else been coming close for anyone?
