SIO2 Doll

@Gunter von Christ Thank you very much! Talou’s head is not small. It would easily fit a Volks SD16 body for a girl. My wife and i have a range of dolls from Volks to CP to Little Rebels (and Shoushou Doll) to go along with this guy. He fits in pretty well, I think. He’s not hyper realistic but he’s also not super cartoony either? I don’t know if that helps.

Yeah, I wanted my Talou to be a boy, too. Talou’s features are perfect either way. I put mine on a Luts SDF65; the resin match isn’t 100 percent perfect but I don’t find it intolerable and I adore the SD17 type proportions with the mobility the body has. I have tried on him on a SDF body as well (because we had one lying around). It was cute but it didn’t really work for me because it felt too small though the neck fit just fine. I tried him on a Peakswood Dandy 61...he looked a little lollipop. That body (which is my favorite boy body) is too skinny and really much pinker than the head. Sio2 was very accurate though in saying the resin was a closer match for Volks.

I am very tempted by a peach deer head, but I am a bit troubled by getting a body. I have a Natrume Angelina Jolie head that is BIG head, but found an impldoll body was perfect for her. Does anyone have a pic of the peach deer head in a hand just for reference, or maybe next to a Feeple60/65 head so I can get a general idea?

 

Ended up deciding to just take the plunge on Cold Dew.

Ooh, congrats on your shipping notices! Even though I shouldn’t have, I submitted my order for Taolu and White Dew. I will have to hope I can find Cold Dew on the secondhand market later. I waffled so much because I need to save for a surgery, but I can’t resist those faces! I hope that when you guys get your heads, you will spam a lot of body combos and faceups.

 

I am waiting on White Dew as well. No shipping notice for me, but I only ordered on the 25th.

 

hello! AAAaaa your Sio2 dolls are oh so lovely. I was thinking of getting Han Lu/Cold Dew but was quite unsure if it'll fit the character I have in mind due to the lack of owner photos. If you have one one, and if it's alright, I'd like to see your doll's photos. Thank you.

 

ANOTHER UPDATE! I have recieved a message from sculptom and was told that promo image was build and generated on a Computer software. They use 3D printing to make a first option. Dont really understand why its different though, because it meant to print what generated but Il just keep the head and maybe try and mod it to look like a promo.
I just recieved my Peach Deer head and Im a bit confused. It says Talou on the card. But its also says Talou/ peach deer in etsy store, is that the same doll?
Im asking because I feel like head I recieved does noot look the same as the picture

 

The angle is not the same, that makes it difficult. But the heads look very similar to me.

 

Talou and Peach Deer are different names for the same sculpt (I think Talou means Peach Deer in Chinese). You definitely have a Talou there. The original, not the SP version.

 

Yep, that's the same doll. the angle/lens distorts some things, and I think the photo is a prototype, but that's definitely peach dear/talou (same sculpt).

Angle is the same. Maybe 1mm off. I have confacted creator and been told that promo pictures are pictures generated on a PC for 3D printing. Thats why they look different

 

I've gotta set up lighting for the body trials, but I figured I'd provide some wig and scale info. I actually just popped a 7-8 monique gold wig (so very stretchy) on my cold dew, and it fit fine. She's got an egg-head in shape to be sure, but it's not huge, and for most poeple I'd recommend an 8-9 wig. Her face size and proportions are very similar to my limhwa girls, so should be similar to the new larger female dollshe face size as well. Since the Cold dew sculpt is the most 'realistic' (not realistic really haha, but relative to the other heads) of the sio2 dolls, this info really only applies to her.

 

I blushed the cold dew head I'd ordered to match any volks-type resin and took a bunch of reference shots. Here's the big one (you can see how pale her headcap is relative to the other dolls).

 

Is the sale of Sio2 over? I thought it ended the 10th? D:

My Peach Deer looks just like the one @pinktezka received and I'm quite upset about it. It's nothing like the listing image no matter what angle you look at it from. Oval shaped head instead of more rounded, lips are different, eyes are totally different... The doll head I received and the listing photo are without a doubt different. I'm so sad about it, peach deer was my grail

 

You are starting to make me nervous, since I am still waiting for my Peach Deer - I read the explanation @pinktezka got from SiO2, with the 3D printing and such. How could they show pictures which do not represent the actual product? I hope at least White Dew will look like on the pictures :/

Yes, I agree with you! It is very upsetting. Now they have changed pictures of unpainted heads for real unpainted thing on etsy, but still kept misleading painted version( which looks like painted head they had displayed before, not the one we recieved and they now added to the leasting.

 

Well, I got my two heads yesterday. White Dew looks like she is supposed to look. I have to admit, without this discussion here, I wouldn´t have noticed a difference in Taolu. When I look at her, I can still imagine her with the face up from the sales pictures and look the same. But I haven´t got a very good eye for these things in general. Today I will take a closer look at her.

 

I just tried the heads on a SID girl body, since the bodies neck size is 10,5cm and the heads are supposed to fit on 10cm neck size bodies. Well, it totally did not work. 10,5 is far too big, from the look of it I would say 9 - 9,5cm will do the trick as well and much better. I am a bit miffed about that since I was so stupid to believe SiO2s specifications and ordered a body with a 10,5 cm neck. Thankfully just one body. Guess that will mean alot of modding work.
I also don´t like that the magnets are not glued in already. But that´s really a minor problem.

Oh, that is disappointing, Ashemanu. I had also been wondering about that body too. I suppose I will have to hope that my Miracle Doll body works with my girls when it gets here. Everyone can share the body if it works!

Did anyone else get an email from Sio2 about the difference and asking if you wanted to cancel your order? I got one around a week and a half ago and she later added that she would like a response of yes or no so that she could process my order either way.

 

@Pandy No, I didn´t - would have been nice if EVERYONE who ordered got that mail. Even if the difference is not that visible to me, it would have been fair to their customers to mention it right from the start.

 

Sorry, I got it on the 9th, so it would have been the day you got yours. She seems to have sent it in response to the bad feedback left on the Etsy.

 

I know @Pandy I just find it very bad business behavior to show pictures of one head, send out another and then, when people start complaining, admitting to it and offer cancellation of the order. Theoretically they should offer to all others, who already got their heads, to take them back and pay the shipping costs for it + refund.

 

For those who were interested, the cold dew head is ideal for bodies like SD16 (there are references on flickr). My big bodies are mostly the wrong style. Dolsltown 17 girl is pretty good though.

 

If anybody’s wondering about the differences between them, this is Taolu (belongs to @idrisfynn) next to Taolu SP (belongs to @sephyelysian). I don’t own either, I just got to have fun painting them and thought it was neat how subtle differences in sculpting gave them such a different vibe. (And they were both kind enough to give me permission to post.)



Can anybody with White Dew confirm how big the head is? I’m in love with her face but I’d want to put her on a smaller body and if she’s as big as Taolu I don’t think it’d work out. T^T

 

@Amet White Dew is smaller than Taolu. I put her on a female SID body, and it looked good. The size difference is very noticeable if you put both heads next to each other.

I was being kind of careful in my wording here, but more forward about what I think on my Instagram. And I think head is unacceptably different and I dont understand how it could look the same for anyone. Also I dont want to make u panic but from my understanding heads from the first release looked the same as the one I recieved. And Artist told me that sales pictures are PC generated and not a picture of an actual head. I have no idea why no one had a problem with it from the first release, but here we go.

 

I know I am quite late to the discussion regarding Taolu/Peach Deer looking different. (I received my Taolu/Peach Deer on December 31)

Honestly, I thought I was going a little crazy because my acquaintances said they couldn't tell the difference! I actually feel quite relieved that I am not the only one who felt that the head they received looked different than the pictures.

I've been wanting this particular doll for quite some time and I won't lie... I really did feel disappointed when I opened up the box. It just wasn't what I expected. The features looked more elongated and a lot flatter that what I imagined.

I wonder if anyone has the 1st run of Taolu/Peach Deer to do a side-by-side comparison with this most recent batch. The head I have in my hands looks very different than the ones I fell in love with on IG and Flickr. I'm curious if the sculpt is truly different or if it was just lens distortion from cameras.

Part of me still wants a Bai Lu/Cold Dew, but I'm a little reluctant to order from Sio2 after this pre-order.

Oops I forgot to add. I decided to keep the head because I don't want to just "not have it". It's a weird feeling.

 

I know the feeling, I have decided to keep and mode the head. I feel like offer to just return it was not good enough anyway as we had to wait for the head and many people bought bodies for it as well. Also SIO2 had pictures of actual head but choose to put fake images up. So basically they mislead everyone on purpuse.

 

The first run iv been told looked the sane as ours, that why Im so surprised people did not have a problem with it

 

@pinktezka : Oh wow, that's honestly surprising. Maybe lens distortion from the camera really did make the head look different in those cases too. Well, I guess at this point I will try to make the best of this situation.

 

Honestly its no way a lens destortion. I dont even know who came up with that its ether a different head that by some reason was redone or photoshop. SIO2 says its a PC prototype but im doubtful about that as well. Things out of 3D printer come out the way the look on pictures, thats basically the point of it. So i dont know what happened there but im sure its been done intentionally by SIO2 because as I mentioned before there is no reason for them to post thous pictures in a sales post when they had actual pictures of the heads availeble.
And I guess u r right we just have to make the best out of situation

 

Hi, i really like White Dew from Sio2 and i want to hybrid with Iplehouse Y.I.D girl body. But im not sure about skin match, pls help me Sio2 just has 2 skin type, but Iple make me confuse

I don't have a Peach Dear (I don't even have my White Dew, yet), but I have been following this thread and looking at the photos. I think I know what happened, based on working with 3D prints and casting doll parts myself. It looks to me like the "Prototype" head that was used in the sales photos was a 3D print with minimal cleaning. the supports are off, but that's about it They eyes are barely beveled, if at all, and it has certainly not been primed. No matter how high your layer resolution, you will still have ridging on the print and priming or polishing of some kind is inevitable. Once the eyes were beveled they appear larger and the primer softened the lines of the nose and mouth quite a bit. They are the same head, just pre and post casting prep.

That said, I do agree that the sales photos should have been, at the very least, of the cleaned and primed head, rather than a raw print. Even if you don't have the actual product to show for a preorder, the finished Master is going to be available.

 

SIO2 posted on facebook the next batch of heads is gonna ship at the end of March and the next two batches will be April and May. And they have new packaging.

Hopeful me wishes my head will be included in the March batch, but I ordered a few days past the midpoint of the order period, so being in the April batch is possible?

 

@zekarmisama Thank you for passing alone the update. My Etsy listing is marked "Feb 7 - Mar 1" so I was beginning to wonder.

 

Yeah the etsy shipping estimate was set very optimistically despite the fact their item description says they can take up to 6 months. Mine is "Jan 30- Feb 21" sio2 posted the update like right before I was about to lose my nerve and e-mail them.

I am never having like 3 things on preorder at once again. It cranks up my antsy nature.

 

Ugh, I ordered at the very end, so I’m thinking I will see the girls late May or even June. That is fine, my income will be stable again by then. Maybe I will save the $300 I need to send them out for faceups before then, so they can go right out again. That will be exciting.
Also, I flipping finally found my Taolu SP head again! I put her away this time in a box I was saving just for her. There’s the large Chitowndolls meet in May coming up, and I am determined to find the best match for my heads this time.

 

Thinking about it more, I am quite happy to wait another month or so. I have another two months to wait for the body I bought her, after all.

 

I haven't made up my mind on what body my Cold Dew head is gonna go on.

Part of me wants to just fudge it and put her on a shorter girl body because it's easier to buy cute dresses for, but the body suggestions SIO2 gives are a little taller.

Though literally any body I can put her on is easier to dress than my HID gal.... I love her except for when I am trying to shop for her....

 

I am waiting for her to put up any extra heads for sale since I missed the pre-order period. I don't mind Taolu having a longer face and slightly different eyes. I think he/she will still look gorgeous either way

 

I am also unsure about bodies for my heads. I put in an order months ago for a Miracle Doll Melanie mostly because I was hoping the body would work for my girls, but I am now really considering a Dollstown body. It would be really nice if they would look good on a 60cm body though, and it would open up some good possibilities for better matches. Although, I plan on letting the faceup artist I want do whatever she wants, even down to choosing their genders, so wouldn’t it be funny if they all came home as boys right after I decided on girl bodies?

 

I got the Impldoll Star Body (65cm, muscled Version) for my White Dew a few days ago. I am very positively surprised! The head fits perfectly on the neck, and the proportions look real good for me. For a shorter body the head would be too big, but that is only my personal taste. The Impl White Skin has a pink tint, while the White Dew head is paper white, but than can be healed with blushing. I think I will get the same body for my Taolu-head, just the non-muscled version.

 

@Ashemanu Do you think the 63cm Impldoll body would be too small, then? Because that is what my White Dew has on the way.

 

@glyndon, it´s all a matter of personal preference. I like smaller heads on bigger bodies, everything else reminds me of a lollipop. So a 63cm body would be too small for me. But that doesn´t mean it wouldn´t work for others. In real life there are very thin women whose heads look huge on their bodies. Which is ok for alot of people. It all depends on which look you are aiming for. I have a Little Rebel Jelle head (not that small) on an 58cm Ringdoll body. But in that case I wanted that look. White Dew isn´t a very huge head, so all in all I think she will work with a 63cm body.

 

Oh! The White Dew I ordered on December 24th arrived yesterday. I opened the package thinking it was a lot of eyelashes I ordered last month, because I didn't get a notice for the head. That was a lovely surprise.

 

Anybody here order one of the in-stock heads? I did.

 

Ive always adored SIO2 Little Prince! I wish I got one during pre-order. I rarely see the sculpt around either.
