EDIT: My February shipment is in New York but who knows how long it will take to reach me. I had it shipped SAL so I'm not in a hurry, but a couple of pre-owned items I bought when they popped up at a good price ten day later are in the same shipment. :aeyepop:

    5. Phanuel, beautiful photo of very cute cyclopes-creatures! Thanks for sharing. (:

SteamWitch, you have such nice and varied assortment of figures! I love Hallo, and the photo is so atmospheric, it fits him very well.

My "February/early-2020" toy-haul from top right to bottom 3rd row: BanDai Anime Heroes Sasuke Uchiha figure x2; bottom Funko Pop! Anime Moments Sasuke vs. Naruto figure scene; Furyu Persona 5 The Royals Joker Noodle Stopper figure; Gecco Naruto Shippuden Sasuke Uchiha 1:6 bust; WorldBox AT011 1:6 slim male action figure body.

Close up of Gecco Sasuke's bust; this is my favorite look of Sasuke from the Shippuden series, but it doesn't seem to be as popular for other Sasuke fans -- I always read people complaining whenever they make figures based on this outfit. I love the hair style more than all others, I think Mr. Kishimoto likes to give all Uchiha the same exact hair style/look, and this one was the most different (older-Sasuke looks like Madara's younger brother with his newer hair-do). DX

    6. @Enzyme well, I like your choice too. That Sasuke bust is gorgeous!

I’m still collecting, but just a Nendoroid dolls, ha, ha. I’m up to 8 girls and just ordered Deku from My Hero Academia, and Ichigo from Bleach. I wanted them for awhile, so finally got around to getting them. I still want Link from BOTW, and maybe a couple others. We shall see...(this isn’t counting the 4 I have on pre order). Nendoroid dolls are my dream anime doll. Next is to actually create their proper anime outfits. Maybe my sewing skills are up to it? Uh, maybe...

    7. I agree with you Kurogane, this bust is gorgeous, I think it's the head-sculpt that's closest to my ideal likeness of Sasuke. I wish it was a full sized figure instead of just a bust, but then it would be pretty out of my budget. Gecco statues tend to be pretty high up there in prices (for PVC statues), this is a 1:6 one, so I can't image what its price would be if it were an actual full-bodied statue. I hope they don't sell out of the bust before I can get a second one to unbox. ^.^;;

I was kind of tempted by the Touken Ranbu Nendoroid dolls (the outfits were tempting too!), but I want to stick to only collecting Mikazuki Munechika, so if they make a Nendo doll of his, then I'll get it. There are too many Touken Ranbu guys to attempt collecting more than just one character (for me). I want to get another BoTW Link Nendo as well, so I can display him and Epona together. I wasn't able to get two when he was originally released, but I keep getting a bunch of other things whenever he is rereleased. I missed him again last year, but maybe I should stop attempting to get multiples and just unbox the one I already have. DX

    8. Yay, my Ichigo and Deku Nendoroids arrived today! I immediately put them both on Nendoroid bodies. They are just so darn cute. Wish these Nendoroid dolls existed years ago. Glad they do now!

Oh, and I also recently got my Lemillion figure (My Hero Academia) that I preordered back in November. I forgot about it! I’m pretty happy with the figure/statue. It has decent paint work, a good size, and only $25. He’s not a very popular character? I guess..? Whatever, I mostly got him because he reminds me of Tintin from the Belgium comic series. :XD: I’m going to take pictures and share him with you all (tomorrow).

    9. Deku and Lemillion, yeees. Do you have pics? EDIT: Dumb me, just saw the tomorrow thing.

    10. @iamkathybrown sorry! I forgot! Well, maybe I spent too much time playing Animal Crossing New Horizons. I keep thinking of new ways to fix up my island. :sweat

    13. :DOH MY GOSH I am so excited there’s an OT thread!! How fun to see everyone’s collections! It’s interesting to see such a common theme among BJD collectors and our combined interests in various figures and dolls.

    14. I also have Barbies <3 here they are, above my bjds ;)
The barbies are: a random Blonde from a flea market (Elle), Style so Sweet (Vanessa), Nice in Nautical (Dakota), Pink Fairy (Emma) (also from the flea market & repainted into a sleepyhead) and Team Glam fashionista (Veronica) - all on Made To Move bodies (Can you love any other ones after having a BJD? xD)
I know for sure that if I were to leave the BJD hobby, I'd keep (at least some of) my Barbs <3

    15. Is there a reason you got duplicates of some of these? For collectibility vs display or for friends?

    16. I'm an old-weird-obsessive-collector, so I'll sometimes get multiples of some figures to unbox one and keep the other MIB. I don't purchase multiples of all, only a few figures of my favorite characters and mostly prize figures because they tend to be more easily affordable in multiples. Although I do unbox 1:6 figures that are not RAH, just because I could never justify buying seconds of those (1:6 is getting ridiculously expensive!). However, if I can afford a second scale figure, or PAK when/if it's re-released, then I'll get a second one to unbox. If the figures are in window or clear display boxes, like Nendoroid or Altair/Alter, then I'll more likely than not, not get a second one but if I want to customize or display one unboxed then I will.

I'm currently awaiting my second Kotobukiya ARTFX-J Sebastian Michaelis 1:8 scale figure, and I'm super excited; I wanted to get two when he was first released a five years ago to display one, but the shipping was a pain in the gut (I got a few of other figures at the same time, so I couldn't justify a second ARTFX-J back then). I haven't unboxed many of the multiple figures I've purchased so far, because I procrastinate and lack of actual display area, but I keep all my MIB figures inside my closet inside shipping-boxes to keep as fresh as possible (box condition-wise). So, I can at least look at the multiple ones all I want, even if I don't actually unbox them right away, because I keep those "displayed" in my room. I do eventually unbox them, but it can take years. I believe it's better getting them when I can, rather than paying second market prices for most of them, if I ever hesitated when I could afford them. Again, I am a huge-old-weirdo, but I hope that answers your question. (:

    17. This is what I've been doing during the stay at home. I now have eight Nendoroid doll girls! Umm, with number 9 on the way...but..., yeah might as well have 10 right? :evilplot:

[IMG]The eight yukata girls by SD Hampton, on Flickr

Guess I like sewing yukatas. I've sewn 13 so far. But only 8, er, 9 girls. It's just something to do in the evenings.

    18. @kurogane they're all so cute! They look like they're about to go to a summer festivel.
She doesn't really match anyone elses OT dolls, but I just got a 50cm Azone girl. I made her Meiji inspired Snow White Disney bound for the Historical theme in the monthly sewing challenge, over the past 2 days. It may become her default. I love how it turned out.

    19. @elfy016 thank you! I absolutely love your Azone girll, and her outfit is amazing! The colors are perfect for Snow White. :love

    20. Thank you!

    21. Yeees, collect every Nendo! I think I am going to give up and buy some outfits. Just want to wait for a little more money to come my way.

    22. @iamkathybrown yes, Nendoroids are very addictive! I’ve been trying to sew my own clothes, but yukatas are the only clothing that I’ve had success with. I tried to sew a simple sweatshirt (with a pattern) and failed three times! The fourth attempt is ok. I too am thinking of buying more outfits for the guys. I’m just waiting till international shipping is working better. I found some My Hero Academia themed shirts on Etsy.

    23. Finally took a picture of my biggest OT collection ;) I'm a big Agent Carter/Captain America fan, and have collected a ton of props, dolls and figures. I have a couple other pieces but this was the nicest set of pictures that would fit in a 4 square grid roflmo. @PamSD created Agent Carter's signature blue suit for me! <3

    25. @Anneke oh, love your collection! You’ve done a great job displaying them!

@SteamWitch looks like you had a fun day too! I really like your forest display. It looks so real!

I’m waiting for my number 9 and 10 Nendoroid doll girls to arrive. After this, it’s just three pre orders that will probably be majorly delayed. Since I’m “finished “ collecting Nendoroids...

I decided to start a new “less expensive “ hobby - gaming miniatures! I’ve already received my first five and have ordered some special hobby paints. I’m not paying any games, I just want to do something new. These figures are only 28mm tall! I’ve worked on smaller stuff, I’m just nervous about painting them as my eyes have gone bad and I will need to use magnification. I used to be able to see/read micro printing on money. Ugh, it’s so frustrating.

    26. I bought those glasses with a set of lenses and a light from IG. Now I can do my face ups easily and I'm 70 years old. They are not terribly comfortable but I am very happy to be seeing again.

      • x 1
    27. @Mahgiep thank you! So much better than a magnifying glass, lol.

    28. Hands free. It completely changed my life to be able to do my own face ups. And I shed a lot of feelings of loss!

    29. [IMG]

She’s finally here. After being in transit for a full three months. The box outside was scrunched but the art box and figure were fine.

      • x 2
    30. @Ssalerno04 oh, she’s beautiful! Ouch, three months in the mail. That would have driven me nuts. I’m glad the box and art work was ok.

    31. Honestly, I definitely felt the despair halfway in and I was fairly convinced she was lost for a while. But thank goodness the port is back open lol.

    32. So far my amiami shipment has been in 'acceptance' but not shipped for one day shy of a month, and I paid for EMS. :...(

    33. I'm in the same exact boat as you SteamWitch, with the package that includes my second Kotobukiya Sebastian figure and a second package with small Sasuke Uchiha merchandise. I also paid for three other orders since then, but those won't be processed/leave-AA until late June, from what I understood on the last email they sent me about shipping suspensions/restrictions to the USA. I wish DHL wasn't so expensive and I wasn't as wary about them, that's the only service that wasn't suspended to ship from Japan to the USA -- I would have gone with them instead, but I haven't had good luck with them in the past. DX

It's super frustrating, but it can't be helped.

    34. I don't know if these count as off-topic dolls, or if they would be considered stuffed animals....but I consider them a doll. Lol.

[IMG]Old porcelain cat doll by Lonely Artist, on Flickr

Found this porcelain kitty at a Goodwill a long while back. Her paws & face are porcelain attached to a cloth body.

[IMG]Stuffed cow dolls by Lonely Artist, on Flickr

And these adorable twin cows at a Savers! These especially I struggle to call stuffies or dolls...but they wear full outfits so I like to consider them dolls? Not sure how old these two are, but they're absolutely precious~

These are basically the only dolls I have in my life, I'm a new collector. I hated dolls growing up, but getting into the BJD hobby has lightened my heart. :)

    35. Yeah, since it wasn't sent back to sender, amiami says it will stay in the shipping container until shipping opens back up between Japan and the US. So it isn't lost it is just delayed, and my next pre-order isn't until August. Now I can stop checking the tracking every day and look once a week. My tenth Kirito is in that shipment but I can live without him for a while.

    36. LOVE both the cat and especially the cows! I have a similar cat doll I found at a doll show a couple of years ago and she needed a home so I bought her!

      • x 1
    37. That's what I heard as well. I don't normally keep checking tracking unless it's EMS or it's already in the USA, only because I have no faith in the USA Post Office. I don't know if it's just the area where I'm at, but they have a tendency to make my packages travel to places that far away which make no sense when they are already a few miles away from my local Post. DX

Lonely Artist, those are super adorable plush dolls! I don't collect plush toys (or try to avoid them), but I used to collect a lot of them when I was younger (I still own them, because I hoard!). Thanks for sharing! (:

    38. I wasn't much into doll collecting...but I saw her laying on a shelf, dejected and alone...I couldn't just leave her there. I think she's a cute little doll~ And the cows? Well, I thought they were hilarious and perfect, couldn't leave them behind. They're extra perfect for me because I I've in an old farmhouse...

I used to be a stuffed animal collector as a child, but I let most of them go when I very first moved out on my own, and when I stumbled upon these dolls I just couldn't resist them. (I don't let go of nearly anything now, I also hoard. Haha.)

    39. It always amazes me to see all the wonderful dolls and figures on here :)

    40. Kavarr, beautiful photo and very striking looking doll, thanks for sharing. I can't help but appreciate how clean her paint apps are, after doing my own 1:6 face-paintings. DX

I took a few crappy phone-photos of my RE4 1:6 Leon S. Kennedy head sculpt, that I just finished painting. I suck so horribly at painting tiny eyes, so I might have to clean them up a bit; particularly the waterline. I am not a fan of painting sculpted hair, I thought I had done it much lighter, but then I got the bright idea of using matte medium for a little shine. I think I should have left it with the nice true-matte texture MSC gives, but no, I had to add mediums. I also glossed the lips and eyes, and I kind of regret glossing the lips. I thought I had diluted the gloss enough for the lips, but apparently not. DX

    41. @Enzyme he looks so good! Painting is hard!

Just got a notification from Ami Ami that my May order is in....ok, fine, but I’m not going via DHL as the item is Nendoroid clothing. Airmail is fine, whenever it arrives, since the Nendoroid it’s meant for must be delayed. I wonder if Ami Ami will just hold the order, we’ll see.

    43. Thank you! The eyes looked much cleaner (IMHO) before I decided to add 1000-layers of gloss, but I don't like flat/painted-on looking eyes on 1:6 figures. I don't mind them on fashion dolls, or hyper-stylized dolls, but I need the copious amounts of gloss on the eyes of realistic-ish head sculpts. DX AmiAmi told me they will hold the orders that are shipping to the USA and are not going via DHL. I was also worried about the orders I just paid for, so I asked them. I didn't see any info on their shop about it, so I had to ask. I didn't want my order waiting at the Japanese Post and getting lost, or having it returned to them. (:

    44. Glad you like my Harpe! I loved her face paint too and just had to get her. Sybs come already painted.

You have done an amazing job with your boy. His eyes, brows and lips all look great. I could never paint like that. The gloss on the eyes does make them look very real, but I know glossy things are much harder to photograph without glare. He looks wonderful anyway :)

    45. Thank you so much Kavarr, you are too kind! Yes, the glare of gloss makes it a pain in the gut to photograph stuff. I was considering opening his eyes to insert actual eyes, but I rather just not have to damage this sculpt. I waited years to have an accurate RE4 Leon, so I don't want to risk any disasters. The head is just too small (for me) to try. I've always loved looking at Sybarite dolls, people who collect them seem to all be talented photographers, so it's always a pleasure to look at them. I've also seen a few repaints that are breath taking, and always admire such talented people because I know that with my shaky hands of doom, I'll never be able to get clean lines like that. It's impressive to me that their factory paint apps are as clean though, because most fashion dolls tend to have mishaps (even over priced Hot Toys tend to have paint flaws) so clean factory or custom-painted smaller dolls are always really impressive to me. (:

    46. @Enzyme today I got an email from AmiAmi saying they won’t be shipping my order until the postal service is opened up, unless you want dhl. You probably got one too, by the time you see this. No hurry for me, just glad to know it’s safe. The Nendoroid it’s meant for is delayed too.

I’ve totally given up doing face ups, so painting 1/6 scale faces is even more daunting. And, how would you put in eyes? The head is somewhat thick, so cutting it out, what a pain! I’m even more impressed with your paint job the more I look. Even if it isn’t what you wanted, to me, it’s better than what I could do. I have to keep my stress down, so I’m learning what not to do, lol. ( but, um, painting 28mm figures is ok, go figure!)

    47. I paid for my figures a while ago, like a week or more ago, maybe? I did get an email from AmiAmi, but it didn't explain what would happen if you paid for your order and didn't choose DHL as a shipping method, so that's why I contacted them. I had read on TOM that some orders where being returned to them, so I was worried that would also be the case with AA, but fortunately, it seems they will hold the orders until the Japan Post starts shipping "normally" to the USA again. (:

I'm a bit more frustrated, because I did much cleaner paint work on 1:6 figures just a few years ago. I painted two Ken dolls, and even gave them eyelashes back in 2017, and they were much cleaner/neater than my Leon, so it's quite frustrating. I know I"m older and my hands are shakier -- although, they were always shaky as all heck, but it's super upsetting. I wasn't even able to give Leon eyelashes, and the not so clean waterline is really bothering me. If it were easy to just wipe off an area without damaging the whole thing, I would try again from the beginning, but at this point I think I'll have to start again. I'm not sure I want to. And yes, about inserting eyes. I would have to cut the head open so that's why I decided not to go that route. DX

This is my Raiden I painted back in 2014 and his eyes are much cleaner:

      And Ken, his head is much bigger than a 1:6 figure and the Raiden above who has a tiny head for a 1:6, but much larger eyes than Leon;

    48. I'm 70 so my eyes are bad. I could paint 1/6 a few years ago but probably not any more. What helped me were these plastic jeweler's glasses with a light and a set of lenses for close up work. They are not very comfortable but they work great!

    49. Thanks for the tip Mahgiep! I'm thirty-nine, just turned them a few weeks ago! My problem are my hands, they shake even when I prop them on a table/flat-surface. I've always had shaky hands but it never bothered me until I started painting 1:6 figures. DX

    50. @Enzyme wow, amazing painting! All I can say is 39 might seem old, but it’s not compared to 49! I still can’t believe this is the year I get the big five oh, lol. I am very impressed that you can do such detailed painting with shakey hands. Mine are fine, but I don’t have the patience for fine lines, sigh. In high school I loved painting, but now I prefer sculpting. I admit to many unpainted sculptures....

    51. Kurogane, when I was turning 24-ish, I was like "it's the end of the world for me, I'm so freaking old now!" Now nearing forty, I am a bit more like "meh!" It can't be helped, we all get old, I do dread wrinkles and aches and pains, but we are all going down the same path. Unless you unfortunately die young, of course. I don't mind age, or saying how old I am as much as the baggage that comes with age -- like not being able to modify tiny things for prolonged periods of time, without my hands aching like the dickens the next morning. Or the extra-shaky-hands, on top of my already shaky hands! Otherwise, I'm fine with age, I'm old and (outside of wrinkles and aches) I don't really care anymore. Lol! (:

I keep forgetting that this thread is for dolls and keep adding my Leon on here, despite him being a 1:6 action figure. Although, I don't really mind distinguishing between the two, and there are (few) differences depending on the brands, and types, etc. There might be people who do mind, so I'll just leave one photo of my Leon on here, wearing his RPD uniform -- I own the RE4 main outfit, but it didn't come with his black tactical 5.11 shirt, which I've tried making out of various fabrics and it just doesn't look right. Making it out of neoprene, other than being way too expensive, would be too thick for a 1:6 figure to wear at all. I'll leave other photos in the 1:6 figure thread if anyone wants to see more; I did tried cleaning his eyes, but I think I just made the right one worse, good thing you can't really see it with his bangs on. DX

    52. @Enzyme yeah, getting old is inevitable, if you live long enough, lol. I love seeing your Leon! He looks so real! Neoprene is wet suit material yes? Wonder if you could find some gloves that could be cut up and used? I have had this same issue (not Neoprene) of needing a specific material for a project, but just a tiny bit, and can’t find it, or it costs too much for the amount needed. This has happened so many times!

    53. @Enzyme and @kurogane, I'll be 69 in September, still I am 20 in my head even if my body refutes it all the time. I love playing with my little ones.

    54. @SteamWitch I too get enjoyment when you play with your little ones! I really, really like your dioramas. Your forest one is amazing. It’s inspiring me to make one!

    55. Kurogane, yes, neoprene is wetsuit material, but the thinnest they make is 1mm, which is too thick for making a top out of it for a 1:6 scale figure. The thickness is the biggest issue for me, rather than the cost. I think I saw samples of it sold somewhere, but it is too thick for a small scale figure to be able to bend its arms wearing the material. (:

SteamWtich, I always admire all the work that goes into your dioramas, they always look so fun! Great photo as well. I still feel/think like when I was fifteen in my head, but my body feels like a thousand. n__n

    56. @Enzyme oh, too bad. That’s frustrating. I still think I’m 20, but ugh, I feel like a thousand too. I have a genetic defect where I’m extremely histamine intolerant and I just recently was diagnosed. Lots of inflammation and pain. I’m on a strict histamine diet, which is helping. Some days are better than others. The diet is extremely restrictive, but hey, the pain is worse! (Plus I’m a vegetarian, so it’s not as life altering as it could be) I do refuse to give up on chocolate though. Just a tiny bit, gotta have something to enjoy. And back on topic....I now have 10 Nendoroid girls! I think I’m done with girls, but have a couple guys on pre order.
