Show us your OT dolls and figures

Aug 11, 2015

    1. I know a lot of us also have off topic dolls so I figured this is a place we can share them. One day I found a really tiny barbie doll being sold in the supermarket and I thought it was just the right size to be a doll for my custom Monster high doll (Howleen) Candy. I hope you guys find this as funny as I did to set up. This is Candy doing her dolls box opening.

    2. Here's a quick snap of my little Ruruka (he's an Aileen Doll baby dragon and so cute >_< )

(not the greatest shot... but I'm a terrible photographer so what're you gonne do *shrug* hehe)

    3. Kavarr, that little doll is the perfect size for her!

ellipses, your little dragon is such a pretty color! He looks like he is baring his little teeth.

I don't have any other dolls, but I do have a rapidly growing herd of Figmas (they're action figures, 12-16cm tall).

My first four Figmas. I am up to about nineteen now.(Kirino Kousaka, Kamijo Touma, Rinko Kobayakawa, Araragi Koyoma.)

And my Onoda Sakamichi, just because he's so stinkin' cute.

This is my Illuminated Doll Iphigenia and her husband, a Garmonsway Chris I've modded a little. They're 1/12 scale teeny little dolls, exactly the right size to be adults occupying my big wooden 1/12 dollhouse.

    6. I'm a pretty avid Blythe collector when I am not playing with my BJDs - funnily enough I am better at posing my Bythes than I am at posing my BJDs, even if the Blythes need more support to hold their poses (chopsticks, so much chopsticks)

    7. Great pictures of your Blythes Roterwolkenvogal!
Such a cute little dragon ellipses.
Hard to believe how tiny those two must be Rosslyn.
I too collect action figures but I have sold a lot since I got into bjds. Some of them look so realistic like yours mdonline03 and I have a few more anime inspired ones like galatia9.
It's fun seeing what else people collect.

    8. Rosslyn, so great to see your Garmonsway dolls. I have been flirting with those for a long time but haven't fallen yet. Do you have any more pictures? Not that I want to be pushed over the edge.

And, I don't like Blythes, but those are some stunning pictures, Roterwolkenvogel.

I don't do dolls, but I do action figures. LOTS of them. Inevitably, many are by Hot Toys (as they arguably make the best). However, I also have figures by ThreeA, Dragon in Dreams, Big Chief Studios, 1000Toys and a few kitbashes.

Hot Toys DX11 Joker with Revoltech Woody (who everyone should have).

Hot Toys TTM-19 and Hot Toys Chris Redfield head on a TTM-16 body (he now has a beefier body).

      A kitbashed Kroenen.

My favourite figure. A Sideshow GI Joe Crimson Guard head on a TTM-20 body.

And I have more. So many, many more.

    9. @Kavarr thank you :D
@MadamMauMau I get everyone who does not like Blythes, I myself have problems with most regular customs due to the lack of eyebrows mostly XD
And I adore your Action Figures! A friend of mine collects HotToys as well and I love just randomly posing them when I visit her (and I am so jealous of your Revoltech Woody, that figure rocks!)

    10. My problem is that, apart from BJDs, I just don't do dolls. Never have. But your Blythes are so awesome. Are they your customs? Someone pointed me in the direction of your Betty Boop the other day and I did think what a perfect concept for a Blythe. No, they haven't persuaded me to get one, but I thoroughly enjoyed the photos, and that is pretty major for me.

      • x 1
    11. @MadamMauMau I wish I'd be able to do customs myself! But nope, they are all commissioned from various people, mostly a mix of Blythe customizers carving them and BJD face-up artist painting them. I just come up with the ideas and throw money at people XD My Betty Boop inspired gal was a jointed effort of IMREAL (sculpted the hair) and kayke (did the painting and lip carving) for example. And thank you for enjoying my pictures, coming from you this is such an amazing compliment! (/creepy fangirl squeeing end)

    12. Ahaha! They are very well taken and like a little dose of sunlight compared my perennial doom and gloom photos.

And you have chosen some excellent customisers. You really have. Great collection.

    13. Most of my OT dolls are hanging out in storage in the attic, because BJDs ate my life, but I do have an off topic kitty from Eve Studio. Here she is with my real kitty for scale:

I also have a couple of the fancy super jointed Play Arts figures from Kingdom Hearts chilling on my desk that I sometimes take crappy phone pics of. They are slightly out of scale with one another, but they're fun to pose in action shots!

Rotor Your Blythes are ridiculously attractive. And that whole summer series of photos is amazing! T_T

MadamMauMau That Chris Redfield made me grin. I love those games!

    14. Madammaumau - I love your pic of Woody & Joker, I have both of them and have never thought of putting them together!
I collect Pullip dolls, Living dead dolls, Sideshow figures/Premium Format, Hot Toys and Sailor Moon Figuarts ^_^ I'm not a big fan of Blythes, but yours are very nice Roterwolkenvogel!

    15. I don't have anything to contribute to this thread; I used to collect figures and model cars but sold off both collections to pay for my BJDs. :sweat

So I'll just comment on others' collections, instead!

Your doll's box opening is awesome, @Kavarr!

@ellipses Your Ruruka only strengthens my love for those adorable dragons. I hope to add one to my collection someday.

Your photography is amazing @MadamMauMau --- especially that photo of Woody and your awesome Hot Toys DX11 Joker. Wow. (And hey, I don't do dolls, either. It's BJDs or bust for me.)

Love your Harley Quinn figure, @Alytheluvly! Not to mention your cool collection of Jokers!

    16. Whoa, Alytheluvly. You've got ALL the Jokers (apart from Mime, I think). Great collection. That interrogation room diorama was a fantastic addition to the DX11 set. Makes me wish they all came with something similar. Batman and Robin came with windows that you can stack and recreate the famous "wall climbing" scenes with, but I haven't tried that yet. Mine got put in the interrogation room as well.

    17. @Rosslyn - WOW!! You not only got your Chris blushed to the nines, you got him a WIG too?! Mine is sooooo blank.... :( lol Poor guy.

@MadamMauMau - That photo still freaks me out with just how real all three of them look! You got the perfect angles and distances and... everything to make it look like a shot on an ongoing movie set.

    18. @MadamMauMau haha, I'd love to be able to shoot gloom and doom pics but I'm super blind if it's dark outside so I am forever doomed to only take sunny pics when I can, you know, actually see what I am shooting XD
@Amet I love seeing the pics of your Kingdom Hearts figures, you pose them so amazing!
@Alytheluvly I'm completley in love with that Harley Quin line-up XD

    19. MadamMauMau - I decided against the Mime Joker due to space and being a really short scene in the movie :sweat I might still get him if he pops up for a good price! I loved that the DX11 came with the room, table and chair, very fun to display them in! I don't have the 60's batman and Robin, so didn't know they came with the wall!

Roterwolkenvogel & Peppermingpocky - Thanks! Harley is my favourite DC Character! :D

    20. @Alytheluvly I love your Harley Quinn's. She is my favorite character as well. Is that a Harley Pullip? I am dying over here!

    21. Thanks! Yeah she's a Pullip Harley Quinn ^_^
[IMG]Pullip Harley Quinn by Aly Young, on Flickr

    22. Yay! Thanks for another pic. I love her! I totally have grabby hands right now. I will have to search for one.

    23. Heart-likes for everybody! So many awesome dolls!

Oh but you do! He's quite an impressive little guy for his teeny wee height. I modified the tops of the shoulders of mine, carving them down a little, and sueding helps him pose. He isn't as fluid a poser as my Iphigenia but I love his little face. His one major flaw, as far as someone used to BJDs would see it, is he's got Ken-Doll-Groin. I am tempted to dremel him a little indication of man parts just so he seems less ...awkward.

Aw, thank you! Painting these guys' faces was a new level of whoa-argh-uff. I ended up using a pin to do some of the eye work. Their eyes are each smaller than a grain of rice, and many times I was so ready to give up in frustration. I've never painted any doll this small. Blushing was just like doing an on topic bjd.
The wig, though, that is #3 of my tiny hardcap attempts on him. I couldn't find anything in his size that wasn't ridiculously foofy, so I armed myself with the "hardcap wigs for tiny heads" thread, and made his wig out of silk fiber. Iphigenia's is made of tibetan mohair stuff I had around from a bigger bjd wig.

    24. Ooooooo, we get to flash the OT dollies!? :dance

    25. Hurrah for a good use for the wig thread! That really is a good job.

And I would be getting the epoxy out if he were anatomically lacking. You are right. It does look odd. All bar one of my action figs is Ken smooth and it annoys me.

Hm. Yeah. Maybe one day I will get one. I would want to handle one first. See if I might have a use for it.

ETA: Or not. The Etsy shop has packed up and nothing new in the blog since May. Well, damn. OK. That decides it, anyway.

    26. This thread is rad--- I definitely like more dolls and figures than just BJDs, so it's fun to see other people's. @ellipses--- I love Aileendoll dragons! the star eyes in yours are adorable <3 @Rosslyn--- serious props for painting eyes that small with actual detail in them! @Roterwolkenvogel--- that Betty Boop Blythe is hands down the absolute coolest Blythe doll I've ever seen. @MadamMauMau--- I always think of BJDs as the pinnacle of doll realism, but it's crazy how much MORE realistic your action figures are. the detail in them is amazing! @Alytheluvly--- nice Harley Quinn collection! she was always one of my favorite Batman characters.

I have a few different kinds of OT dolls. I've got an American Girl doll, my first doll as an adult doll collector, bought so I'd have my own sewing mannequin for making clothing for my daughter's AG dolls. Eventually I started selling AG clothing on Etsy, and then I acquired a couple of BFC Ink dolls (those were fun for a cute, cheap doll to customize the heck out of!) and a few Hearts for Hearts dolls, also to use as models for my Etsy shop. (And then I found BJDs on Flickr one day and selling playline doll clothing on Etsy bought me my first resin girl. =) I also have a few Monster High dolls that I've repainted just for fun, and am DEFINITELY getting one of the new big 17" Monster High girls.
Of all my OT dolls/figures though, this guy is my favorite. He's a NECA Lord of the Rings Gollum action figure, and he is the most fun to play with ever.

And here he is getting into my BJD parts....

....and being VERY unimpressed by my Borg figure's attempts to assimilate him.

    27. So much fun to see these all (but also so much temptation :))! I have a fair few ThreeA figures in both 1/6 and 1/12 scale - here is my initial crew (1/6th):

There have been a fair few added since, but here is my most recent:

And here's the 1/12th World War Robot line-up:

    28. Ah! You've got the ThreeA Squares! I was going to get the 1:6 Family Album Square, then ducked out at the last minute. Still want one. *whispers "Bring them to a meet"*

thedarkeststar13, the Golum figure is another I have been flirting with. Now I see the comic potential, I REALLY want one.

I knew it was a bad idea to come into this thread.

    29. Aw thank you! If Garmonsway is gone/not producing, I know Illuminated Doll, who made Iphigenia, is fiddling with making a male counterpart to her, a 1/12 scale guy complete with male parts, and with the same lovely jointing and style as Iph.

When those release I may seriously have to get one.

Also, I am LOVING all the dolls and figures posted! This is cool!

Edited: I was calling "Illuminated Doll" by the wrong name.

    30. Where do I start : D

    31. Great pics and I love some of those action figures. I have three Hot Toys guys Loki, Thor (Avengers) and Tony Stark (I have them in bjd form too!) in his workshop. I don't take many pics with them but I should as they are amazingly detailed. I can't sew for nuts and I would love to get the same outfit made for my Thor bjd.

    32. babytarragon, your Licca-chan is precious! So are your Makies! ^3^

    33. Ah, I can't resist adding to all the Batman themed dolls!

I have a whole lot of the 21cm dollfies and obitsus, which I have made into various Batman characters:

And here's the whole crew so far: Joker, Owlman (Earth 3 character: kind of evil Batman), Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Jokester (also Earth 3: good!Joker, one of my favourite characters, too obscure to have a real action figure!), Robin, Batman, Batgirl, and finally the Riddler in a towel because I hadn't made his costume yet. :)

They all live in two shelves of a bookcase, and have alarming amounts of Re-ment food and small plastic cats (for Catwoman's sake)... Oh, and bottles of poison, for the Joker. :)

    34. [IMG]

Here's another shot of the two 1/12 scale dolls I showed earlier, an Illuminated Doll Iphigenia and a Garmonsway Chris. This was taken before I had modded the Chris' shoulders or painted either of them, but you can see the lovely sculpting on Iph.

    35. I really really love this thread. I wish we had something like it on the regular. It feels so good to see these other dolls and be able to discuss and share them for a fleeting moment.
Another one of my action figure ladies from Kumik.

    36. I am so envious of the gorgeous displays you guys have for your figures! They all look wonderful.

I have a few Hot Toys myself, no fun pics to share here since uhhhh all of the photoshoots I've done with mine violate the DoA PG rating ^^

I'm still trying to find one of the serious sideboob Thor's from the TDW release. I don't like the open mouth they gave him, but so far the prototype for the closed mouth Age of Ultron Thor looks more like RDJ than Chris Hemsworth and I am just not having that.

You can see my in progress Lady Loki Blythe custom lurking in the back there. With Blythe's lack of eyebrows, it had to be done.

I also have a Garmonsway Chris, but I have yet to figure out what to do with him. I won him in a giveaway, though I am finally getting him out to someone who can give him a face. Also in this is Maynard, my Blythe clone.

I collect pretty much all Thor and Loki figures.

I own every single Thor and Loki Funko Pop released. I have a problem.

      • x 4
    37. I have 13 Monster High dolls and 6 vinyl pops so far and my Amazon wishlist is like 90% Star Trek toys.:sweat

    38. Hanging out on my desk... Two assassins (No stinkin' Templar's going to steal MY pens! >_<), Tachie and Traveler.

Made by my friend Leyla, plushie versions of Kestrel (The winged girl in my avatar picture-), Palrah and Nemissary, my favorite City of Heroes MMO characters. (I also have plushies of Kes' partner Cardinal and Nem's lady, the Unquiet Bride but they weren't in the "group picture". Neither was Izzy, my Chibi!Kestrel LittleFee's plushie pet Rularuu Overseer.)

.. And there are a pair of Monster High girls, two Little Apple dolls (Shadow and Psyche), a small tribe of kokishi, a couple of Pinkies and an action figure of Gandalf upstairs, as well as an antique, 19th century "penny" doll, a Dankin Merlin from the late-80's and Blue, my sky blue-toned lady doll from the 1950's... I don't have pictures of any of them.

    39. Great batman collection morganatron!
Your Loki/Thor collection is still growing Kim. You are going to be found trapped one day under a pile of Marvel stuff. I think a Blythe Lady Loki is hilarious. Can't wait to see her finished.

    40. Morganatron - I love your batman dolls, did you make all of their costumes?
So many pretty Loki's in here, I really want to start my own collection of them. I've been eyeing up the Hot Toys Loki from the Avengers as my first, but I always seem to miss out on him :/ (outbid/finding it one minute then it selling the next/forgetting to bid) ONE DAY I will get him >_<
While I'm here, I'll leave a pic of some Wolverines, everyone likes Hugh Jackman right? :D

    41. Kavarr, my roommates say I am like a dragon with my Thor hoard, and they're really not wrong lol

Alytheluvly - no such thing as too many Wolverines. If you're looking to get a Loki, definitely get the Avengers one. The sculpt for the Dark World Loki looks more like Steven Segal than it does Hiddleston, which is what held me off on preordering him. I have one now because I found one for sale second hand for an insanely good deal and couldn't pass it up.

I also recently got this guy and have no idea where I am putting him

    42. This little guy is my favorite Revoltech figure (similar to a figma). He is from the Japanese manga GeGeGe no kitaro -a 60's manga series. I take him everywhere and he gets the most photo ops. He is only 11cm tall and fully jointed.

    43. I love the brigadoon for topics like this. I wish it was open all the time.

Here's the latest Momoko photostory I've done.

I finally did another Madalaine photostory! I hope everyone enjoys it :)

      Madalaine: Daddy, what's this?
GR: Oh, that's a Winger greatest hits album. I listened to it just last weekend.

Madalaine: Look! This song has the same name as me.
GR: That's right. I got your name from this song.

Madalaine: No way! That's awesome, Daddy. I want to listen to my song.
GR: Okay, Madalaine. Be careful with my CD.
      Madalaine: I will!

      *Madalaine listens to Madalaine*

Madalaine: I don't know, Daddy. It doesn't really seem to suit me.
GR: Indeed. I named you before I really knew who you turned out to be, so only your name is really significant.
Madalaine: I didn't really like it. I think I like Dokken's music better.

GR: I thought I told you not to listen to Dokken.
      Madalaine: Oops!

    44. I love Momoko. I have just one myself but I can see where she could be the object of obsessive collecting.

Here is my Celluloid Dream doll. The Japanese man who makes these dolls uses 50-year-old metal molds; the dolls remind me of something you might have won at a carnival, years ago.[h=2]They are light plastic but he paints them beautifully and each differently, and sells an amazing number of very detailed clothes to go with them including some elaborate kimonos. This dress came with a bonnet and pocket kewpie.

    45. I love your collection! I would love to find a Licca doll someday. :-) You did a beautiful job on her.

    46. Ok, I've talked about my Voodun priestess doll - well, here's a picture of her:

She's at least 80 years old cause my mother got her when she was 8. She has human hair under her hat & kerchief. I love her a lot :D Always did even when I was a little girl LOL Yes I am strange....
The story - my grandparents, Free Methodists, lived in DC & a lot of missionaries came to their church before going overseas. Grandma always invited them home for Sunday dinner. My mom & aunts were little girls then, & so when the missionaries got to wherever they were going, many of them sent those little girls dolls :D THIS one came from a missionary couple who went to Haiti. They sent 2 dolls. One was an ordinary cloth dolly - all handmade & cool but obviously one for a child. Then there was Maman here... I'm betting that the local wise woman/witch doctor gave this to the lady missionary for protection & that lady, all unknowing of the significance, sent it to Mom LOL But she came to live w/me so all's well...
I gave her the shawl, the hat & beads :D

    47. Oh very Cute! ^^

    49. I don't have any non BJD dolls at home, but I have a Hot Toys Winter Soldier in an online shopping cart at the moment, still debating.

I fear he'd be the first of many. x.x

    50. BJDs were my sole focus for years but last year I finally gave in to Azone Pureneemos and also figures... because I'm an anime/game nerd, the temptation proved to be too great, haha. x'D I'd also like to get a Momoko or two sometime in the future... I also like Pullips, but I don't know if I'll end up getting one myself. I enjoy looking at other people's dolls, but I don't do so well with dolls that have large heads (the reason why I no longer collect MH dolls). ^^; Oh well, luckily there are plenty of lovely photos to view from other people! :D

My favourite figure is Momohime (from one of my favourite games, Oboromuramasa) :aheartbea

I have some figures that I haven't had the time/energy to photograph yet... how to have time for everything, I don't know! xD

    51. I have a lot of non BJD dolls these days but nothing as remotely as cool as these action figures shown on here.....hope you're not asleep after seeing some of my 'other than BJDs' collection:

I have quite a few Sasha and Gregor dolls, here's Devlin, he's from 1969:

And his twin sister, Wren, also from 1969:

I have a load more but won't bore you with those!

And here are a couple of my Little Darlings by Dianna Effner:

Ellie, is painted by Dianna herself:

And Finn is painted by Pat Green:

    52. Ever After High. Recently drastically downsized collection. I tried to give them all up but can't bring myself to let go of these 3. I'm waffling on several others still.

I've also got a Kotobukiya Ciel Phantomhive figure but no pic atm, and several others on my wishlist. I've just started this whole figure thing in the past few months.

    53. OMG I LOVE the Tippi Hedren from the Birds LOL That's so great :D

    54. I'm getting more into anime figures right now, but other than BJDs, I have my three Dollfie Pluses, quite a few Monster High dolls, Sailor Moon adventure dolls, a few Funko Pops, a couple Nendoroids, and a plethora of Digimon action figures and Zoids model kits. The Digimon are currently occupying the space where my Zoids once were, as I had to pack up my Zoids when my dad redid my bedroom floor.

    55. Would you believe that Madame Alexander also made a doll representing the Psycho shower scene? Tempting, but I passed on that one.

    56. Took some pics today. As you may notice from my cluttered desk, I'm kind of a pack rat... :sweat

L to R: Woody, Magical girl shelf, Digimon across the top, and MH on the right with a Mezco Edward Scissorhands.

The straglers include some mecha musume, Funco Pops, a Mako Nendoroid, and my Edward Scissorhands Taeyang.

    57. WolfiePie Wow - fantastic! Love your dolls & the display :D
Phanuel What in the world did the Madame Alexander shower scene doll have on? Or was it our creepy psychopath rather than the girl IN the shower? LOL LOL LOL

    58. These are my remaining Monster High dolls. Five have been fully customized and I would kind of like to get the remaining two repainted.
