Seeing all those awesome toy hauls almost makes me want to get back into collecting figures myself They don't have bodies yet, but I really want to show off these two tiny creepy-cuties that arrived yesterday. I found them on Mandarake and it was love at first sight. For my yo-sd and smaller dolls I'm very much into the creepycute/halloween/surrealistic aesthetic and for some reason I don't understand I have a thing for dolls with odd numbers of eyes (and/or eyes in places other than the usual) and these fit that aesthetic perfectly. They're artist heads from a japanese artist called Ozawa Dango, who is known for his high-end full face anime cyclops masks. These heads are resin, but specifically made to fit Obitsu11 and similar bodies (I'm still researching that, these will be my first obitsu/non resin jointed dolls). They will be little cyclops bat creatures with probably a bit of cat thrown in there too, with more cat/demon like eyes, wings (back or head or both), maybe horns and possibly kitty paws. (excuse my cleaner hands, I had been washing and disinfecting my hands over half a dozen times that morning and it shows^^;; ) Teeny cyclops by jefvonk, on Flickr
ShuriTigerH, those are beautiful head sculpts, congratulations. Don't worry about your hands, they look fine to me! I'm a germaphobe, and current world conditions haven't helped me maintain any less dry-hands than during previous years. DX More toy-haul stuff arrived for me today. From top left to bottom right: GoodSmile Chitocerium XXII-tanio atr 1/1 Plastic Model; FuRyu Touken Ranbu Online Noodle Stopper Heshikiri Hasebe Prize Figure; A3 Chara Clear Case "NARUTO Shippuden" 02/ Walking While Eating ver. Ken Kaneki; Contents Seed InuYasha Deka Keychain PALE TONE series Sesshomaru. A few extreme close ups:
Stellarphenomena, beautiful girls as always. I love the purple hair, and the outfits. Particularly the black lace one, on the Pullip, I don't wear lace myself, but I love forcing my dolls in it. (: More of my toy hoarding hauls, most stuff are from my April pre-orders, but the Touken Ranbu Online Hikkake Kuji figures are Impulse buys I don't usually do, but was weak this time -- I paid for my weakness by having to use DHL delivery, which I am trying to avoid like the plague. But AA has set such a low limit for Airmail Unregistered Small pack, that it's really frustrating being impulsive, due to total cost of orders, not necessarily weight. Look at me, complaining about shipping costs again. DX This shipment arrived a few weeks back, but were mostly clear files and stickers, that shipped by themselves very inexpensively: Edit: Forgot to include a photo of a doll I repainted a few days ago (a week ago now?). It's a Barbie Fashionistas #124. I'm not a fan of big-headed dolls when they are more realistic-looking, so I want to find a taller/bigger body for her. I'm just not sure I want her to be on a male one... but finding one of those that works for female fashion dolls is a pain in the gut-hole. DX
@ShuriTigerH , those are great, I love cyclops dolls but I only have anthro ones myself. @stellarphenomena , wonderful matching hair, lavender is one of my favorite colors. @Enzyme , beautiful job on the repaint, the lime hair with the lavender eyes is lovely. Found a great pun to use with my Nympheas Dolls Chouchou, Well-lit literature by Nadine, on Flickr
a little late to the reply, but i just had to!!! this looks amazing! as an aot fan, i think it looks great!
Been a while since I visited this thread, loving everyone's dolls/figures. Here is my newest "finished" boy X, need to still get him some shoes and fix his jacket so its not just a vest. Want to make him a new corset as well but need to get some more leather for that.
@Tasuke your collection is amazing! I love how you have displayed them too! You’ve inspired me to get my dolls all organized and displayed properly.
Thank you so much, I suck at miniature painting, but I love blushing everything I can get my hands on. I love AOT myself, although I mostly collect Eren, because he's always been my favorite. I like Armin as well, but I try (really hard) to keep the number of characters I collect to a limited number (I already hoard stuff as is). (: TwistedRiver, he looks great so far. Good luck on making more clothes and finding shoes for him! (: Tasuke, I love the traditional looking Japanese doll wearing the golden kimono, she is so beautiful, I'm always tempted by them but have no display space for one. I also always want to get at least one of the Hoi Hoi San kits, but the shipping for those from Japan scare me -- I don't like paying local-retail prices for them, so I might never get one myself. Thanks for sharing your lovely collection. n__n I got these two toys for now, I'm still wafting for my May stuff to be payment-requested, and dreading what shipping is going to cost. There are no large or extra-expensive single items coming, but all together is way over the limit for the cheaper shipping option. Combining multiple or all items, might not make a difference so I'm a bit scared. I keep complaining about delays, because it makes shipping during these times super expensive, more so with such low limits on the less expensive options. DX ABYSSE Death Note L Super Figure Collection pre-painted non-scale & FailFix Kawaii Qtee doll. I got the FailFix to attempt repainting her, but as the hoarder that I am, I think I might get a second one before I try that. ^^;; L's Box art: I didn't know about this L figure or the Ryuk one, before I stumbled across it a few weeks ago. It's super nice quality IRL, and the box is really nice as well (I'm a MISB collector, for the most part, so that's a big plus for me). I am hoping they make a Light Yagami as well, because he's my favorite Death Note character, and also hoping I will be able to get Ryuk before he sells out everywhere. I don't normally collect Ryuk figures, but the SFC one looks very nice. I can't afford him for now, he's a bit more than L, whom I got quite a bit below retail due to coupon codes and member points. Otherwise, I would have probably not been able to get him right now (as I mentioned above, I am scared what I'll have to pay for shipping for this month's Japanese toy-haul!).
@Tasuke: Just noticed Pullip is releasing a Cardcaptor Sakura next month, don't know if you're interested...? I think she's cute!
They are all so beautiful! I wish shipping from Japan wasn't as expensive, but yes the boxes look huge! I did get a shipping quote for one from AmiAmi quite a while ago, but maybe I should try shipping from HLJ, they tend to have less packaging material, so maybe they'll be less expensive to ship from there. They get re-release quite often nowadays, in the past I feel like they would take at least a decade to re-release any kits, but hopefully, when I am not buried in pre-orders I'll be able to get one. Thanks again for sharing your collection! (:
i'm content with this modified (with an OBITSU 26 body) TAKARA Liccarize Sakura, but thanks for the heads up anyway!!
@Tasuke loving your Cardcaptor Sakura! Here is some of my Mamachapp dolls. They come on the Obitsu 23cm bodies, and are from around 2012. The bodies need some torso fixing as they are floppy. I'm slowly fixing each girl as my patience allows. Who made kitty cry? by SD Hampton, on Flickr And my newest girl. I just fell for her bright clothes and happy face. Pure Neemo Nanatsuiro Drops Sumomo Akihime by SD Hampton, on Flickr Also the Nendoriod I've been waiting for a year ago this month, is still on a boat somewhere. He was shipped end of March, and is still out there somewhere. I refused to pay more in shipping than the item, and so I wait.
Got my other-eyed critters together--Calm Cat UFO, Fingertip Dreamland Four Marus of the Apocalypse, and Dream Valley Peanut. Bunny beam by Nadine, on Flickr
@phanuel Of course you have the Fingertip Dreamland quartet, you seem to have every epic pet doll there is in your collection I love your other-eyed group! The four Marus are forever on my wishlist of discontinued-far-before-I-ever-realized-they-existed dolls, but I do have my own Peanut on the way and seeing yours makes me wish mine hurries up already!
@ShuriTigerH , it's a shame that Fingertip Dreamland seems to have faded away. I was lucky to find them at the last opportunity. Buying them was an easy decision, the hard part was finding an appropriate artist and coming up with a design idea. There were so many gorgeous Marus out there already. So I was also lucky to find Dybbuk here on DoA who did an amazing job. I became interested in anthros early on in my joining the hobby, then moved on to large (human) dolls, then came back again. So I was able to get some wonderful sculpts from a dozen years ago, but I probably missed some in between. Anyway, glad you're getting Peanut! I thought I was going to miss him at first. It often seems that the best dolls are only available if you spend $700 on something you don't want!
I know, I was glad they offered him for direct sale and not as an event doll (although I still had to scramble for the event amount to get Gru). Since then I found out that certain dealers *coughCloverSingingcough* offer event dolls separately, the Dream Valley ones anyway, so I didn't have to spend so much extra to get Tea. I'll keep an eye out, who knows if I'll ever find a FD Maru somewhere^^. I've been in this hobby since 2006 (with a several year hiatus) but never looked at what was available outside of what was on topic for DoA until like a year ago, I have to say I regret that, but I'm glad I'm discovering so many new awesome dolls.
kurogane, love your Mamachapp dolls, they are so cute! I hope to own one the boys one day. I only own one of the blank heads in the style, that JunkySpot carried (still carries?), by Obitsu I believe. But I really want a fully painted one, because I suck at it. (: Tatsuke, I can't see your photos, but I'm sure you Miku Nendoroid is adorable. n__n Phanuel, lovely photo! The kitty with the three eyes is particularly adorable, but all of them are super cute. Stellarphenomena, awesome Funko, I didn't know they made Dracula or horror themed ones. Nice! SteamWitch, that is an awesome looking figure, I've sadly never seen the film (I'm not sure why?). I also want to share some more toy hoarding collecting, Japanese haul stuff and some random customizable and fashion doll things as well, I received these past few weeks/months. First, part of my May Japanese toy haul, plus two fashion dolls, one to customize (the FailFix one). I got some Xinyiwawa/doll bodies, that I intended to use with my 1:6 heads, but I had to mod the nipples and the neck. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to mod the neck, without any issues, but I'm pretty happy so far. Now I just need to stop being lazy (but I hate summer-weather) and make some clothes for all my new action dolls. (: I purchased these heads from them, in case my 1:6 females didn't work on them (or I hated the proportions), and they gifted me these two.
@Enzyme the Xiniywawa doll bodies are really nice. Your blushing on it made a real difference! Looking at it, it looks like resin, not plastic. The heads are also better than the Obitsu ones. They are very pretty and would look amazing when painted. I have 10 Mamachapp dolls now. They are by far my favorite. I’ve spent too much time looking at Mandarake and there are lots of unique rare 1/6 dolls and it’s too tempting.
On a whim I checked the tracking for my Senku Nendoroid that I paid for in May of 2020, shipped via boat March 2021. Well, gosh, he’s in the US now! Clear across the country, but only a week away (I hope).
Wonderful news! I am still waiting on my April AA shipment to get a USPS tracking number. Which means it is still on a boat somewhere.
@SteamWitch I hope your package shows up soon! I was getting concerned and wondering if my package would ever show up. No ‘real time’ tracking on the high seas. I think shipping mail by sea is amazing, but not something I’d want to use ever again.
Kurogane, thank you so much! I love blushing things, it's hard for me not to over do it, but I enjoy the process so much it's really hard for me to stop (I like subtle blushing on my own dolls, but you would think otherwise, because I fail to stop myself). I hope you get your Nendoroid soon! I had a few orders shipped by boat last year, and I don't know that I can do it again. It's inexpensive, but sometimes more than Air SP Unregistered, and that still gets here in about 3-4 weeks. I know some people don't like not having a tracking number -- I hated it in the past, so I always went with Registered SAL, which is sadly not an option now. (: SteamWitch, good luck with your shipment as well, I hope you get a tracking number soon. n__n Stellarphenomena, she's looking beautiful, her whole outfit suits her perfectly. ^.^ The rest of my May haul is here. I paid DHL for this one, because the other options were almost as expensive, but at least twice as slow. ^__^;; From left to right; MegaHouse Look Up Sasuke Uchiha Figure; Megahouse Look Up Itachi Uchiha Figure; GoodSmile Square Enix NIer Replicant ver. 1.22474487139... NieR Nendoroid Figure. Extreme close ups of each figure: Here's are photos of the rest of the box for the MegaHouse Look Up figures, there were fakes on the market, even before the official release of these two. I know some people are okay with fakes, but I know some are not aware (I'm not okay with illegal copies, because of personal moral standards, but also because you never know what bodily fluids went into the plastics -- it's a gross health risks I'm not willing to take. More so when they cost almost as much as the legit ones, there's just no point. IMHO). The official Japanese releases have blue metallic Pierrot stickers on the back -- not sure if the ones from foreign retailers also get the stickers, but from what I saw on eBay the fakes have very different boxes, without the legal copyright stuff on the back.
@Enzyme my Nendoroid arrived yesterday! Over blushing or not, at least you do it on your dolls. I’ve recently gotten all the supplies to do blushing/face ups, but I haven’t. It’s the weather, yeah, not laziness. Nice haul! @stellarphenomena she’s so pretty! @Tasuke what a cute Nendoroid doll! I’m really impressed with all the details. I ordered the Wolf boy, my first full set Nendoroid doll, all the rest I put together myself.
Stellarphenomena, thank you! I love Nier as well, he's so beautiful, I'm glad I finally get to own a few figures based on him. n__n Thanks for sharing all your Red Riding Hood dollies, they are all lovely. Tasuke, she's rally nice! I keep getting tempted by all the Nendoroid fashion dolls an sets, but I already hoard so much, I need to keep telling myself to look the other way. Lol! (; Kurogane, I wish I didn't over do it, though! It goes so smoothly for me, the time I spend blushing, I don't notice it until I've done too much! Lol! Congrats on your Nendoroid arrival! I keep procrastinating as well, despite the heat, I did manage to progress a bit on one custom project. I hope it goes well for the rest I have planned. (: Here's a shot of my SuperDuck head on my Xinyiwawa semi-modified body, now I have three more bodies to mod and a lot more to order when I'm not broke, or need to pay for a thousand pre-orders and DHL shipping fees. DX
@Enzyme the head fits really well. Looks like a good color match too. Glad you finally found the bodies you were searching for. I’m broke too, so sympathize. I have a list of doll related things to do and am slowly getting each finished when funds allow. Somehow the list never ends, but keeps getting longer!
I refuse (yeah right ) to buy any more from AmiAmi until I get my shipment that was supposedly sent out on April 15. The items were originally supposed to be in stock last October, then January the last item finally arrived. I didn't want to pay the extra for DHL but this is agony, so I'll use DHL from now until they get regular shipping back in gear. I want my Sai now, please! the updated one Please.
The Nendoroid dolls are soo tempting. I've been able to resist thus far but I know if I buy one, I'll buy 100. Sailor Moon Picco Neemos! by Dollish Gambino, on Flickr I've gotten obsessed with Azone's Picco Neemo line - these are all hybrids with my Dream Pocket dolls. Their bodies are so nice and poseable, and they're clothing and accessories are perfectly compatible. I like my dolls really big or really small, I guess!
@SteamWitch wow, I see your frustration. It’s really difficult without updates or tracking. Ami ami didn’t provide a tracking number? I at least had a tracking number, even though it didn’t work for 3 months. Not even having that is intolerable! @mustbemissa it’s nice to know the Dream Pocket heads look good on the Azone picco neemo bodies. Your girls are adorable!
@kurogane, thank you very much! I had to blush the head lighter, because it's tanned compared to the body. SuperDuck suggests using the head sculpt on a pale Phicen -- the one I got with the set for my 2B version, does match the pale Phicen, but the other two I purchased loose from USD dealers were both tanned. Although, the same exact sculpt and both from sets that were meant for the pale body as well. At least, the proportions look good, and I'm happy with how everything looks. Now I just need to make him his 9S cosplaying outfit, and hope I don't take an eternity to start working on it. It really never does end, at least when it comes to hobby stuff. (: @SteamWitch, I feel your pain! I just paid DHL for my GoodSmile 1:7 Hyakkimaru, because apparently I don't know how to read and didn't realize he was that size and AA is not as forgiving with their packaging as HLJ (I got a 1:7 scale Accelerator from them, and their shipping was a lot less, with a much more massive-sized box!). AA is kind of a bit on the overkill-side when it comes to extra-packing materials and sometimes the figure's boxes are already damaged, even when the shippers are not (if it was one or twice, I would say it's coincidence, but it's happened a lot lately!)... kind of makes it a huge waste of money, but I am an idiot who can't read...Lol! I wish I had gone with HLJ for Hyakkimaru, I would have saved at least 15USD, on his shipping, because HLJ has a higher limit for shipping via Unregistered Air, unlike AA. DX Sorry for the two-page-rant, I hope you get your Sai soon, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! n__n
@Enzyme yes, the doll projects never end! I have great admiration for your skills at creating cosplay costumes for 1/6 dolls. I gave up on my Nendoroid guy’s pool last summer, but I’m prepared for this one. I got a Barbie pool and made swim trunks. My guys are ready for the heat (not me, I melt).
Thank you so much for your kind words, Kurogane, as always! I hope to see your customized pool and your little guys in enjoying the summer! My GoodSmile Company Dororo Hyakkimaru featuring Sayoko Kamitsure 1/7 Complete Figure arrived! I am so excited, and happy with this figure, I am only sad because I wasn't able to afford two. He's breathtakingly gorgeous IRL, I was kind of hoping he would be closer to 1:6, but I feel he might be a bit small for 1:7. Then again, it's a puzzle to me how Asian scaled figures are scaled -- also, I don't believe there is confirmed info about how tall Hyakkimaru is supposed to be, so I guess it would be pointless to assume he's not 1:7, when I don't know how tal he's supposed to be. DX He is gorgeous nonetheless, and I'm beyond thrilled he finally arrived (DHL is not as fast now as it was in earlier months, I don't know why?).
she sold out pretty much right after i set a pre-order, -the better part of a year back- so, probably not...
@Enzyme oh, he IS gorgeous! I try not to pay attention to scale figures as I don’t want to get started down that path, but I love seeing yours. DHL has been super fast for me (west coast). But, I can see them slowing down as they get busier as they are the only fast, reliable shipping out of Japan these days. I told myself no more pre orders, but Good Smile Co Moderoid has a couple Deku and Bakugo figure kits. Wait time is short as Deku is released this month and Bakugo in July. I love model kits!
@kurogane, thank you so much, he is incredibly beautiful IRL, far more gorgeous than any of my crappy photos would ever do him justice. (: I am probably being silly and DHL is still the same speed -- I'm also in the west-coast, but maybe I have the fortune of getting stuff during the weekends. I wish I could get more model kits too! I love building them as well, but at this rate I think they'll just "gather dust" and I wont get to them before I can't actually build any (I have terrible shaky hands and I prefer using an Xacto knife to separate the pieces from the runner. I'm older now, so it's getting a bit dangerous. Lol!). I have been eyeing GoodSmile kits for a while, I got the Chitocerium kitties a month(?) ago, and now I'm waiting for the girls set that "go" with them to be payment-requested (I have a lot of other stuff shipping with them, I hope I don't regret piling all together, and have to split it into multiple less expensive shipments). I was eyeing the Moderoid Ariel C type kit when that released, but decided not to for it because of how small the pieces might have been -- the Chitocerium ones are probably tinier, so I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I decided to go for those (I read the sizes, but for some reason can't think of actual size with smaller scales than 1:6). DX
@Enzyme I didn’t know you had shaking hands, especially with your very well done face ups. Yes, getting older sucks. I have to use bifocals now to see up close. I’m really impressed with the Japanese model kits as they are a vast improvement over the American ones. I’ve done car kits in the past, and had to paint everything. I also found them to be very delicate (I also did ww2 air planes). The Japanese kits have minimal painting and are well designed. It’s fun making your own action figures. DHL has been 2-3 days for me, and I’m thinking I’m lucky as the usps has been annoying and slow. I like tiny, and 1/6 scale has been a challenge for me. I’ve never made furniture that big before! I just finished my third couch. Good use for my stash of cardboard and fabric. Now that my Mamachapp family grew by five more, I’ll need more furniture!
I am waiting on delivery of a new figure, I'm gonna have to get the collections out and take some photos once he arrives...
I recently picked up this cute little Goodreau mouse girl from an online seller. Most of my stuff is packed for my upcoming move, so she can’t hang out with the other dolls yet, but she’ll have her chance!
I have terrible shaky hands, sometimes it's better sometimes is hell -- when painting on dolls, not when I paint on canvas or do other non-doll stuff. I struggle not to just paint a series of squiggles, when doing repaints or customs, but somehow manage as long as it's not clean sharp lines, like for brows or lashes' hair! I of course I have to be a weirdo, and loathe the feeling of drawing on resin. I used to draw guide lines for eyes, on vinyl heads without much of a sculpted eye. However, overtime, I even stopped doing that because I hate that feeling of drawing on a 3D surface, that's not paper. Of course, my shaky hands and painting with acrylics and a brush, are not forgiving, but I have chosen to go that route due to me being pure-weirdo. Lol! I don't believe I have ever tried building any American kits, I've only ever done Bandai Gundam ones, and the Koto Eren (Rogue) Titan one -- I did build a few cars for some of my nephews, but I don't recall their brand or country of origin. I still have one I never built because they told me I could keep it (but was lazy to build, since it was for me), but it was diecast metal, if I recall correctly. So, most of the pieces were already colored. I don't know if it was an American kit, however, but I'm pretty sure I've never built one knowing that it was or wasn't (I never paid attention, probably because the ones I didn't pay for myself, I didn't get to keep except for that one I never built). I was contemplating not posting this now, because, I feel I did a terrible job once again. I thought it was "okay" after I was done, but I had to try painting eyelashes, despite the rant up there, I think I f-ed up once again. I painted lashes on my Raiden artist cast head sculpt, and thought he was smaller, but I was a bit younger back then. Now I can try to clean the lashes up a bit, or gloss the eyes and call it a day. However, I am a weirdo, and I don't know if the gloss will make the eyes look gross again. That was the reason why I repainted the eyes again, because I am horrible at editing myself IRL, and use copious amounts of gloss for the eyes (even though I know I should stop). They don't look as clean as I wished they did, and also destroyed the lashes by even attempting them. DX Sorry for the rant, but the rest of my June haul hasn't been payment-requested yet, and now I have extra stuff to stress over, and now I am disappointed that I suck. T__T;; I'll get over it after I know what to do, I just like venting on "public" spaces, when I'm super stressed, and the heat is not making it any better; it's been a year since I first painted this head, and I thought it was time I gave it another shot. But it seems I should just keep the sculpt eyeless. Lol, jk. I like painting tiny things, even if I suck at it -- I'll try again, and again if that is what it takes! Marron, she's adorable! Thanks for sharing, and hope you have a peaceful move! (:
@Enzyme we are our own worst critics! To me, I see nothing wrong with your face up as I didn’t paint it! I’ve taken the self criticism so far I don’t do face ups at all anymore, lol. I know I can do it, but it’s really hard and not enjoyable. Ranting is fine, I sympathize! I just got my shipping notification for the Deku Moderoid and ouch, the shipping is as much as the kit! I have another Moderoid coming end of July. I wish Hobby Search would let me combine shipping, but only for orders coming out the same month. The heat has been awful! Over 100+ for three days straight with a week of 90+. We only have a portable air conditioner and are not used to these temperatures. I don’t do well when it’s hot with my hot flashes and swelling feet. I’m too young to be getting old!
@marron , I believe your little mouse is on-topic! Goodreau was accepted at some point when the rulings were updated. Pretty sure it applies to all the Critters.
I am hoping my luck holds out again. I always seem to get shipments that were ordered several months apart at the same time. I got my shipping notice for my Granado Lucky Bag, so I'm crossing my fingers that my amiami shipment arrives around the same time. I can dream anyway.
@Tasuke: Oh nice! I would love to have her...maybe I will find her along the way You know these Red Riding Hoods are hiding somewhere!
Stellarphenomena, that's an adorable plush doll. I received part of my June toy haul: From left to right: Banpresto Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Q posket Giyu Tomioka, B Sepia Color Ver. Prize Figure; GoodSmile Nendoroid InuYasha Sesshomaru Figure; GoodSmile Nendoroid Doll Animal Hand Parts Black Set; PuriPla DECO AIR NARUTO Shippuden Sasuke Uchiha Plastic Model Kit. And a bunch of clear files, which I definitely need to stop hoarding:
