Show us Your Hoard!

Aug 1, 2015

1. Uh, NODS, YEAH!!!!!! I take such terrible, and non-artistic photos. I'm really enjoying seeing everybody else's piles of doll stuff!! It's neat to feel relatively normal, lol!!

2. Nightwitch_Neko, those are real little treasures Amadeus is guarding there. Very tempting to buy lots of small things for dolls, isn't it? ^^

Cthulu, I have a fabric hoard in transparent boxes like yours, too, (not to mention I never have enough time to sew) …

3. I am SO impressed by all of your VERY NEATLY ARRANGED stuff!!! Massive hoard and it's beautiful to behold. (Mine's pretty massive, but being in the box you're supposed to be in is something of a crap shoot ;) )

4. Thank you, Baakay!! That's sweet of you to say!! It IS hard to put things away when you're playing, so you can find them next time!! I found a couple of bags of clothes that I needed to put away after I posted that picture. Seeing everyone's pictures on this thread has inspired me tidy up some. Organizing my doll stuff is actually really fun to me.

5. I've been dragging a little on this, but today I picked up new boxes to more safely store all this stuff, so I decided to go ahead and lay it out for a photo... and I had actually forgotten about a few of these things. :sweat

[IMG]All this, and I still only have one leg? by vicemage, on Flickr

(Cheer up, Ed, at least you're better off than the guy in the tighty whities.)

• x 1
6. Poor Ed....so where is his other leg? (I've been following his reattachment process in the sewing thread) The accumulation process certainly can be subtle can't it? One piece here, a spare faceplate there...next thing you know its a whole box full of spare parts! XD
evie the kid, at least we can see the fabric in those transparent totes while hopefully keeping the mice away! here's hoping we both find more time for sewing soon!!

7. cthulhu, his other leg's on my workstation. I've got an extra day and a half off this week (off days, so I can't wander into my other job like I normally do), so I'll probably be focusing on finishing it up as much as possible, so that hopefully he can have it back soon! Though after that, he loses his chest for a bit... he can't win until the whole process is over. :sweat

The resin hoard is kind of a nice mix of things I specifically ordered, event items, and things that just kind of showed up alongside the dolls I was getting. There's a couple of modding projects in there, and some stuff that I'm just not quite willing to part with, and some stuff that has potential, and... oh dear.

8. I actually hoard just about everything, but the eyes are easiest to photograph.
Some came with dolls, some were freebies, some were experiments, and a lot of them I still use since I often change my dolls' eyes for a new look.

9. Vicemage, I hope your guy gets his other leg back soon! That's an impressive collection of face plates!!

And, Phanuel, SNORT!!! That's a hilarious photo of all your eyes rolling down the stairs. I love your little bug-eyed bear under there!!

Cthulhu, I'm with you on the plastic totes full of fabric and no time to sew!! I hope we all find time to work on getting our fabric hoards down in size!!

10. Okay, here's about a quarter of my hoard (cause I've one of those small storage sheds in the back yard that's stuffed w/dollie stuff & material LOL):

Jason finds it hard to believe LOL

11. Wow, Teleri!! I want to see the storage shed now!!

12. It's not much of a hoard by some standards, but given the fact I've only been in the hobby for a year and a half I think I've done rather well. Not shown in this photo are the seven other dolls and all the clothing they're currently wearing, plus I'm sure there's other stuff in boxes here and there.

13. Nightwitch_Neko Your Amadeus and his collection are amazing :)

14. evie the kid - It is sooo tempting! And once they get started it's hard to stop!*_*

lady lacious - Thank you! :)

15. Quiet and Insane, you've done VERY well for a year and a half!!! And you've already got a nice little army of floating heads!!!!

16. KathrynB - it probably doesn't help that I have friends who sew and made very affordable doll clothes. But yes, collect all the heads! (There's another one on the way already!)

17. I love this thread so much! All these little collections are like candy. :) I always forget about the anniversary events; I'm glad I saw this before it was over!

Here's my hoard - antique and vintage little things. I find much of this stuff at the local "bins" (as-is Goodwill) for pennies, but some of the more unusual things I found at flea markets and doll shows (the tiny hot water bottle, the cast-iron gun). The weensy tintypes are online finds. The wee baby doll and the fan are my latest finds, from an estate sale. I also have some antique bottles a friend made me some custom labels for.

(sorry for the poorly night time photo)

18. cedarheart, that's a beautiful collection of antique cup! And I've never seen a doll-sized hot-water bag before … cute!

19. Wow, this thread makes me feel better about my doll closet XD. I think about the only thing I have that could be considered a "hoard" is their clothes. All my dolls have their own clothes and only the vampire twins share clothes. The rest all have a box of clothes all for themselves. I usually sell extra wigs, I do have a small collection of spare eyes but after seeing the eye collections here I no longer call it a hoard. I'll see if I can get a picture after work.

20. cedarheart, what a beautiful collection of miniatures! I am enjoying this thread very much. :)

21. Hehehe...it's been fun lurking around in this thread. Everyone has such awesome collections. :)

22. All I can say is "Wow" I'm very envious of all the prettiful things.

I've only had my girls for a month, so they have hardly anything. I can be a bit obsessive and once I start buying, it will soon become a hoard so I'm going to have to rein in my natural inclination to buy all the things.

23. I'm not a hoarder. Not at all.

Or maybe a little...

(And that's not all the underwear I have, just the spare one...)

Ok, I admit it. I am a hoarder. Plus that's only about half of all the clothes I have. I had another box full of dolly clothes and the ones my dolls were wearing, but I was afraid the 28" tower would crumble, so I only took out about half of my items.

Just to proove I have even moar, I took this extra shot showing the other box I was referring to:

I also have around 30 wigs (and I have nowhere near as many dolls as those!) and I-don't-know-how-many shoes, but it was a bit embarassing to hoard so much stuff, so I didn't take a picture of any of those two other hoards :sweat...

24. Wow some of these hoards are amazing! The sheer quantity is amazing.. i started the hobby recently so i ddon't have much yet

25. Cedarheart, that is a BEAUTIFUL collection!! I love all the tea sets and tiny dolls. LOVE IT!!

26. Woah ;-; I hope to someday have a hoard you guys are all so amazing

27. Cedarheart, that is a BEAUTIFUL collection!! I love all the tea sets and tiny dolls. LOVE IT!!

28. I_Love_El, that's an impressive mound of clothes! And I always figure the more wigs I have, the more my dolls can look different without me needing yet another doll....of course that has never kept me from adding more dolls to the family....and quite a few of the dolls insist on wearing one certain wig....but, if needed, there are great wigs waiting in the stash! ;)

29. My hoard most definitely is fabrics.
As a reference, there is still one layer of shelf space that did not fit into the photo that is filled with different jersey fabrics.
Most of these fabrics I gathered from my internship place and measure about 40X40 cm at average. Many many fine wools~

30. There are some wickedly warped (in a good dolly way) senses of humor in here as well as some scary impressive hoards in here lol. The few pics I have are the "impromptu" hoards that happen at meet ups lol... the 'traveling hoards?' I'll have to see what happens on Sunday, we are doing some cloths "fitting".... aka bring what you got (a sampling) ans see if we can dress poor dollies.

And a quick mental inventory of my own stuff???? oh boy lol I should take some pics... but here is my 'hoard starter kit?' ... he was my first doll and I went a bit nuts right off the bat :sweat Just a few odd bits off the MP and more or less 2 purchases of stuff that nearly broke me (a bit much too fast >< heh oops... lesson learned) This was 6 weeks from first doll... There are 6 full outfits and extra bits ><...

My Soul Doll Marauder and the 'beginning' of his 'personal' hoard lol... there is much more now :sweat
A hoard "starter kit"? ^^

Marauder - 20130522 wardrobe V1 by J L, on Flickr

31. Marauder is a lucky guy....most of my guys have worn the same pair of stretch fit jeans when they first arrived, then managed to get one outfit out of me so far! X0 The girls on the other hand, I keep sewing for while the lovely wools, etc. for waistcoats & proper suits sits waiting in my fabric hoard.
Teadesu, I can totally relate to your hoard! What good fortune, to get all of those lovely wools while doing your internship!!

32. Cthulhu, thank you for the compassion? :D I just wish I had about 4 of me so that the pile would actually get smaller. :D

33. Yes Teadesu...either more of me...but then we'd have more fabric...;D No, I think a time turner is the answer. Clever JK Rowling. When will she get them on the market?!?! X0

34. I only had one doll for about five years, then I got an off topic doll, and two years later I got a second MSD. Somehow though between my two dolls and my roommate's I ended up with a mountain of fabric, and now the knowledge that faux fur that was in an attic for a year tastes REALLY really bad.

35. I have mini hoards of eyes, wigs, clothes, paints and literally tones of material ready to make clothes.

But my weakness is my volks mimi's, I would re home every unwanted Mimi if money and trades allow

36. Is there a Raouken corset support group? :P

37. I love all this hoarding, such eccentricities, such commitment, such possibilities!!!!!

38. [IMG]DSC_0803 by iwasteela, on Flickr

I think we might need a support group. I bought two more since this photo. OK I bought three, but I sold one.

39. I love this! He has his own haberdashery right ther. And all so neatly arranged! -- I'm really honing in on the neatly organized ones for some reason - probably because my own horde and hoard are such jumbles at the moment ;)

40. These photos are super! Love everyone's sense of humour!

41. kreanieldamage, is that fabric I see?!?! I hope you survived the onslaught! I love your photo. :)
snarkin & iwasteela, so this is where all the amazing Raouken corsets go?!?! Yes, I'd say you two are hoarding a few....
linnyp, your Mimi collection is larger than my Juri 2005 obsession....;D

42. Thanks cthulhu! I did indeed survive, though I was quite hot afterwards.

43. Cthulhu, haha isn't it odd how that one sculpt just grabs you? Juri 05 is super gorgeous I love her eye shape and lips :aheartbea

44. this thread is awesome and inspiring! thanks for sharing! :)

45. I really should have joined in on this one... but that would mean admitting I have a problem ;)

46. kreanieldamage --- Hahaha!!! Love that photo!

Seriously, I probably have a hoard of everything that would beat all others... but it's really too difficult to photo... and it's too embarrassing...!

47. Partially pictured was my other hoard, which technically is a mischief. Thar be one of the cages that holds my pet rats. I'm sure that they would have loved diving into the fabric as well.

I got to say though that I am loving the doll parts, wigs, and eyes photos. It makes me wish I had more money to build up such hordes for myself.

48. Those corsets are gorgeous. I can see why you have so many.

No matter how fast light travels it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

49. Thanks for sharing your collections, everyone! :D

We've picked two members for their creative presentation and serious dedication to their hoards: KathrynB and phanuel! :hamster::hamster::hamster::hamster:

I'll contact you via PM for your addresses. :)

50. Congrats KathrynB and phanuel! You both have awesome hoards! :thumbup

51. Thank you, PeppermintPocky!! I hope your little Elmo didn't eat any more eyes!!

Congratulations, Phanuel! You stairwell full of eyeballs is hilarious and really well done!

St, James, thank you for a REALLY, REALLY fun and entertaining contest!! What a great idea! I had fun and I loved seeing everybody else's hoards!!!

52. Congratulations to all you Master Hoarders! The photos are all so clever and funny. :)

53. Thanks for choosing my photo! It was fun coming up with the concept, not so fun chasing those eyeballs all over the place. :sweat

54. I am soooo in love wKatherynB's doll wardrobe!!!! Love it totally & want to turn MY armoire into one (need to decide where to store all the fabric in it first, LOL)

Congrats to the winners :d

55. Congratulations everyone, this was really interesting to see parts of other people's hoards :daisy

56. Congrats, guys! Lots of good hoards here, but I'm happy to see the judges went for creativity instead of just quantity. phanuel the eyeball staircase was both unnerving and hilarious! And KathrynB, I just liked seeing how neatly you organized things while still keeping it looking pretty.

57. Phanuel, I hear you about the rolling eyeballs!! I hope you don't have a cat that was helping you!!

58. Thank you so much, Teleri! I've never entered a DoA contest before!! I've seen a cool fabric storage idea , using an old chest of drawers, with the drawers pulled out and the slots used like open shelves.

I was was impressed with the fabric hoards!! It's so exciting to see all those possible projects layed out!

59. Congratulations KathrynB and Phanuel!:cheer

That eyeball staircase was indeed awesome!:3nodding:

And the wardrobes inside the wardrobe was actually pretty epic! :D

Everyone's hoards were tons of fun(I may have made a pun? (And a rhyme!)), and made me feel a lot less guilty about my own small mounds of doll clothing and accessories XD

60. Congratulations, Kathryn! And I do have kitties but they weren't helping me with this one. However, every time I'm missing a doll part or piece of clothing, I can be pretty sure that a feline has spirited it away.
