Show us Your Hoard!

Aug 1, 2015

1. There aren't very many forums where you can gleefully post photos of your collection of disembodied heads or boxes full of eyeballs, but you are in good company here! What's your Preciousss? A giant pile of minifee heels? Enough spare eyes to cover the kitchen table? Show us your hoard! Got more than one hoard? Post more than one photo! Bonus points if you post a photo of yourself or your doll hunching on top of it all.

By the end of the month, the moderators will probably have some favorites and we may send a contribution from our hoards to yours! :XD:

2. Here is all my floating heads. Really need to get them bodies!! As I am not comfy posting pics of myself, I'm having my little fairy step in for me.also they are all wigged and have eyes! Go me?!

3. I love collecting urethane eyes almost as much as I love collecting BJDs. They captivate me and I enjoy comparing various brands to help other hobbyists decide on the pairs just right for them.

Out of the brands I've hoarded throughout the years --- Dollbakery, Gumdrops, Mystics, Enchanted Doll, Switch, Everpurple, Mehi Art, etc., etc. --- my FAVORITE is a pair of 16mm green urethanes made by Serendipity. They arrived in an awesome "treasure chest" and to this day I still haven't put them in a doll. I just like to admire them in their box!

Also, I-----

4. I've only got a 2-day weekend. It would take that long to spread out contents of all the totebins-ful of wigs, the eye tote, the floating head tote, the floating BODY totes - and the spare hands boxes!

6. Ha! Shhh! I do have a weakness for supposedly-even-more-efficient storage drawers and containers! Still, better than copypaper boxes--

7. That 2nd picture looks creepy, arlais  Mind you, I love creepy! They look huddled up together like penguins saying "Pick me, pick me, pick me next!!" for you to put them on a body :P

Now I know who I should go to when looking for eyes ;)

I have a small suitcase just for dolly clothing, but what I really hoard is art supplies, tools of the face-up trade and lots of fabric :sweat I'm pretty sure no one wants to see the latter, but I'll be taking pictures of "The Suitcase" soon :P

8. @Chamillia thank you!!!! I really need to get them bodies but well soon they will have even least room and more 'people' to fight with to get a body ( I am in 2 splits for heads).

9. Do we have to limit ourselves to just one hoard?? For starters, there's the trunk of wigs:
In which Bernadette, my Dollmore Monica shows us why one need ever have a bad hair day! And, this doesn't show the thirty other wigs that are actually being worn by other dolls!

10. I was just thinking that same thing! But I'm quite sure yours has always been bigger than mine, so to speak ;)

11. I don't expect to win ANY contests with my horrible photo skills, but this thread is fun and feels like it should be in the shameful confession thread, lol!! Okay, so this is the contents of what I affectionately refer to as my Gein Box:

Belen, my Elfdoll Vivien is wondering what she did to get stuck in this photo shoot. Hopefully, it gives her comfort to know that, if anything should ever break on her, I've got her covered.

12. I haven't the hand hoard of the multi-gesture handed dolls but I have more than my fair share of SD and 70cm boy hands.

13. EEEEEEEEEEEE, Steamwitch!!! I gotta HAND it to you (Get it??? Get it????? GET IT???? ;)) you're making me feel SO much better about my hoard of body parts!
I like the little claw-y hands creeping up the sides of the bin!!!

14. LMAO!! This comment right here!!

15. I think I would be too embarrassed to show my various hoards of bjds and stuff! *_*

16. I have a HUGE hoard of tiny treats and toys! Here's some of it with my Lati White, PukiPuki, and (off topic) DZ baby. They have massive amounts of dolls, ice creams, furniture, baby animals, vehicles, little dollhouses, even a Ferris wheel!

17. GASP, Shojo-Chan!! My Pukifee wants to live there!!! That is a DAZZLING hoard! And, so pretty and colorful, too! Thank you for posting this!

18. Thanks so much KathrynB! I've been a fan of tiny toys all my life - this isn't even close to all of it! What I pictured is a lot of Lalaloopsy, rement, Barbie, Polly Pocket, Playmobil, and Madeline.

19. Shojo-Chan, you have some very lucky dolls! :)

20. Okay, I PROMISE this is the LAST one!!! Confession feels SO GOOD!!!!!!!

"I CAN SEE MY HOUSE FROM HERE!!" ;)

21. Shojo-Chan, you're picture is so colorful and pretty and well laid out!! That must have taken you forever to lay out. Ooooh, Polly Pocket!! I never post photos. Mainly because mine are always so bad and I don't feel I have much to contribute. But, I can do doll hoarding, lol!

22. (I am quite envious of everyone with lots of spare hands and eyes … ;) )
I'm trying not to hoard too much dollie stuff, but somehow I ended up with several generations of fur wigs aka Tribbles … At least I didn't buy any of these …:sweat

23. Evie the Kid, what a great way to show your hoard! LOL! They're farming your field of tribbles!! Too cute!

24. evie the kid, they do look like tribbles. :)

KathrynB, I love your doll armoire.

25. Thank you, Alewife!!!!!

26. evie the kid: TRIBBLES! :XD: Love 'em.

You're right, Chamillia! I just hope he doesn't get a hold of the eye putty... talk about a mess!

27. Hmmm, is it MY hoard if all the stuff belongs to one doll? Though I have yet to actually construct her room box, my doll Max has QUITE the collection of odd little objects and collectibles for her shelves...

28. ABSOLUTION!!!!!!! Thank you, SwivelChair!! It is NOT 'our' hoard!!!! It's THEIRS!!! How do they sleep at night knowing they've done this to us??? :D

29. KathrynB -- That's got to be one of the best doll closets ever! Impressive that they are all on hangers, too! (I hate hanging up my own clothes, much less the dolls'-- which is why theirs are all in ziplock bags and plastic bins...!)

30. Aw, thank you, April! You know, I hate hanging up my own clothes, too! All my work clothes end up in a wad behind the bathroom door when I come home from work. And, by the end of the week, I have to pick through the wad to find some items I want to re-wear if I can pick enough of the husky fur off of them to look 'professional'. Don't know how I got so neurotic about tiny hangers for my doll clothes when I get so irritated when I have to deal with my own! Thank you!!!

31. KathrynB, Alefwife, PeppermintPocky, thank you! Tribble farming would be a nice occupation …

Love to see everybody's photos!

32. My other hoard, shoes.I may have missed a couple :sweat
[IMG]Shoe hoard by SteamWitch BJDmama, on Flickr

Edit: Yes, I know missed the red tennis shoes, they are with the Harlequin outfit.

33. SteamWitch, that is an amazing array of shoes there!! I love the oxblood ones in the lower left hand corner!! I think your resin crew and mine have a couple of the same pairs of shoes in common. Thanks for showing those!!!!!!!

34. So....I'min the process of remodeling, which is great because I have a completely open room to lay out all the doll clothes and shoes, but bad because that means everything the dolls are wearing or is in a place I can't get to isn't pictured. :/

Dhani thinks there is no such thing as too much stuff to wear for him and his friends. (For scale, Dhani is 63cm, and there are 3-18 items in every stack.)

35. CloakedSchemer, wow! That's an impressive pile!

36. CloakedSchemer - WHOA!!!!!!!!!! I think that's all I can say!! WHOA!!!! That is a wonderfully dizzying amount of stuff!!!! Well done!!!

37. And this is after selling over 100 pieces. >.> I just love the tiny doll clothes so much! (Obviously) Their wardrobe is much bigger than mine, to say the least.

38. I don't have a hoard but I love seeing pictures of others peoples stuff. I just have one little boy right now...and he doesn't have very much stuff since he only got here last month...but I'm sure it'll get there eventually xD

39. That took a lot of work to straighten all of that out. CloakedSchemer you win my vote!

Thanks KathrynB, I think I got the oxblood shoes in a lot of shoes. It was a great deal. I'd love you see your shoe hoard!!!!

40. Give it a little time, Amakai!! You'll be amazed how quickly your little one takes on supplies!!

41. It took over two hours to find everything, set it up, photograph then put away! But at least everybody's stuff is neatly folded in their boxes now!

I'm loving everybody's pictures so far, I love seeing what parts of the hobby people enjoy the most. Looking forward to more pix! And to those who don't have much yet, you will. It took me almost 8 years to acquire all that stuff, and probably over half of it is handmade, mostly from recycled fabrics.

42. It's hard to find oxblood red shoes for bjds, SteamWitch!! Okay, here you go! One shoe hoard. Not as great as yours, but the jewelry holder for them works pretty great! Most of them are currently being worn by the resins. I'd pull them all down, but stupid work in the morning. ;(
[IMG]Shoe Hoard by kathyreedbutler, on Flickr
WOW, that's a grainy picture!! So sorry!! This is why I never post on the gallery threads. :( And, dang it! I forgot to put all my boots in the picture that live in the doll closet!

43. Good job, CloakedSchemer! Most of mine are home made as well. The recycled fabrics make the clothes even better - especially if they're from clothes that carry some sentimental value.

44. this thread is AMAZING. i feel better just knowing that im not the only one how has a crazy amount of things for my dolls

45. Oh I have no doubt xD I spend a lot of my time after work just browsing ebay and etsy...my wishlists are growing very quickly haha

46. KathrynB Your shoe holder is awesome! I never would have thought to get a jewelry holder for doll shoes, what a great idea! It looks like a mini version of the shoe holder I have for myself in my closet. Love it. I kind of want to get one of these for Hailey's room now. :)

47. Thank you, CloakedSchemer! I saw the idea on the internet and found the jewelry organizer on eBay! It's double-sided, so there's room for just as much of your hoard on the back of it!!

48. This is such a cool thread. I don't really have any large hoards of anything doll related really. I sell off most of my extra stuff. I love seeing these though I must admit. All those hands make me jealous! That dolly closet IS AMAZING. All of them. Wow!

49. @KathrynB WOW! I love how you placed the jewerly in the frame. I think I'd like to use something similar for my earrings.

No very large hoards here, the largest is the eyes one, but fortunately they take up very little space.

Here is my "little" eyes and wigs hoard. As any hoard worthy of the name I mentally underestimated/forgot the number of wigs I own, by like 1/3. Preparing all for the photo, when I laid out "all" the wigs, I remembered "Wait! Didn't I own a long pink one too?!", and when I went to take it, 4 other wigs were with it.

In this photo are missing a wig for tiny and 8 pairs of eyes that are inside my dolls (sorry, but I didn't want to suffer the agony to re-adjust the eyes of 8 dolls, especially considering that with the very hot and humid weather here, the putty is a sticky mess now *_*)

My dolls suffer from the "Too much eyes/wigs, too little clothes/shoes syndrome".:sweat

50. citrushearted, thank you!! Did you ever think that you don't have a huge hoard because you are relatively well-adjusted and have a healthy relationship with your posessions? ;) I'm TOTALLY IMPRESSED by anyone who is organized and motivated enough to actually sell the stuff they don't need instead of whine about how they really should sell it, like I do!!!

Thank you, Rey Arkady9 ! That frame is easy to make with some foam or foam board and an old, painted picture frame!! If you noticed, in the picture from four years ago there's a different jewelry frame than the current picture because my daughter talked me out of the first frame I made so she could use it for her earrings. Your hoard picture IS TOO FREAKIN' ADORABLE!!!!!!!! The eyes looking around are HILARIOUS!!

cads you have the most beautifully and artistically arranged hoard!! Charlie is so cute with all his treasures, lol!! And, your Jellies' collection is both pretty and funny at the same time! Nicely done!!

And, I don't know if this belongs here or on the 'Confession Sharing Thread', but has this thread inspired anybody else to clean out and organize their hoards?? I found two more bags of clothing that I'd gotten. been given or made that I hadn't hung up yet and it started me on a tidying tangent! I think CloakedSchemer inspired me that I need to pull everything out and spread it out to do some sorting!

51. Oh dang, this is tempting... Do I really want to take all my dolls down so I can pile up the hoards of thingsss? Yesss, yes I dooo...

You'd think we had enough pocket watches and bronze to open our own pawn shop..?

Although I don't think Amadeus is too keen on selling any of those trinkets >->

52. I totally wasn't listening to Dueling Banjos while setting this up, either >->

53. Nightwitch_Neko, that's an gorgeous collection of watches and instruments!!! I've always loved those watches!! And you've got some handsome resins there, too!!

54. Thank you! I keep having to resist buying more everytime I see them *_* Darn cool little watches! XD
I have two more (possibly three) hoards I want to gather, but they involve moving a lot of resin around to get to things XD
But, you know, if I do the one that involves moving everyone I could totally do that third pic I'm thinking of >w>

55. I had to think long & hard....wigs...spare parts....but truth be told, this is the true hoard. When I saw my first BJD I thought "oooh, I'd love to sew for them!!!!" And, ever after, every shopping trip to the fabric store or the thrift store or the sale rack in kid's clothes, my brain has kept doll clothes in mind. No matter what else I was shopping for. :sweat

"Perhaps something in lace" Poppy says...

"So many good choices..."
"But this is getting ridiculous!!!"

Lace, sheers, velvets, cottons, wools, stripes...all in their own tubs. AND that's not including the tubs packed & set aside for what I hope to work on next all pulled together with patterns & good intentions. YIKES!!

56. Cthulu, I have those same patterns and good intentions here!!! I love your little Poppy posing with your fabric hoard!! That's an impressive pile!!!

57. I need to lay out all the pieces of my doll prop hoard and organize them anyway.... maybe I should take pics.
