Shoushou Doll Waiting Room!

Awww... How exciting! Fingers crossed she comes soon! I hope my boys arrive before Christmas!

 

I'm here to join everyone! I ordered a Gouhuai head late July.
I'm planning on getting him a Doll Family-A 68cm body with the jointed hands.
Likely going to use DF-A's resin matching service but if anyone can say if DF's normal pink or yellow can match ShouShou already, let me know!

 

Just in case anyone has missed them, There's some owner pics now under the Shoushoudoll tag on instagram, so they're starting to arrive!

I don't know how much this helps but I know a bunch of people on Weibo posted pictures of their Nikos. I believe that people that ordered on Taobao started getting their girls in around the middle/end of August. I'm not sure how many orders were placed before Instagram and BJDivas opened up orders but I'm staying hopeful that I'll see more soon!

And hopefully we'll get our Nikos soon

I have a layaway on Niko unicorn version with 2 heads. My layaway is only for 4 months but with how many orders they probably got before the discontinueation I expect a bit of a wait.

 

I'm still anxiously awaiting my 3 Shoushou boys that were discontinued too!

 

My Niko finally shipped out I see some people have started to get theirs. She’s very cute!

Oh she's beautiful! Did you get the white or normal skin?

I ordered the white and I'm slightly concerned that she'll look pale Caucasian instead of white white.

She poses really well. Her arms and legs are nice. Her torso piece isnt as easy to move and she has great wrist and head mobility. I think my only qualm with her is that with the resin wig on she doesnt like to sit down without falling back unless you tip her head forward more or lean her on something

She's definitely worth the wait and she is sculpted so beautifully . She came with extra hands and I was worried about replacing hers, but theres a little groove for the S-hook that makes it super easy to switch out the hands.
Honestly, she's really well made and a lot of thought and care went into making her. She's just lovely and the pictures dont do her justice. She's so precious in person.

I have seen the white in owner photos on weibo and it looks really nice! I'm not sure if she would be considered paper white but the white skin definitely looked pretty pale in the pictures I've seen. Brothertiti on Instagram has a Niko in white skin if that helps?

Oh that's lovely. I went and looked at his IG and that's a lot closer than what I was thinking. A creamy white will work and since her incoming head is paper white it should be easy to match without paint.

Popping in after lurking a while. I was told by bjdivas we're not likely to get our Nikos before halloween
For reference i ordered from them immediately after they announced we could. So anyone who ordered through bjdivas is in for a longer wait. Lets hope we'll have them home for holidays at least!

 

So, I know the Nikos are taking a while to come in, but does anyone have an idea on the boys? I can patiently keep chipping away my Niko's layaway but I'm more antsy cause my Goudan is PIF and I have clothes and wig ready for him. XD

 

If you ordered your boys through the divas as well it's likely the same wait. Companies often send in bulk to dealers especially overseas ones. So i imagine they haven't gotten any boys either. Hang in there!

 

Just sent an email to BJDivas to see if there is an updated estimate. I ordered mid-February and I’m dying of the wait. It would be nice to get her before Halloween but I’m not sure if I should hold my breath lol.

 

A few of us here are also waiting for Arc doll adult Zilang, right? I think being related companies it's ok to share my excitement here. Did you guys see the post from BJDivas a few days ago showing a bunch of nearly-complete dolls? I'm really hyped! Lol, I was staring at it wondering "is that one mine?!" XD

 

I'm super anxious for Niko, and wanted to know if anyone else has gotten theirs, and also when you ordered?

Also not waiting on Zilang but saw them! Always happy to see blanks before they go to their homes, kind of exciting to think of people to see their dolls before the trip home.

 

I ordered mine via Instagram back in Feb, and she arrived in September. She's got temp eyes atm and needs a faceup, but I have that project marked for sometime next year.

 

I'm actually still waiting on my 3 ShouShou boys... Gouhuai, Goudan and Goumeng. Has anyone received there's yet?

 

I ordered my Niko in June, haven't heard anything yet but this is the 5-6 month mark so hoping to hear something this month or next. Maybe if I'm lucky she'll be here for Christmas lol

 

@kpopandkimchi I'm still waiting on my Goudan too. And my Niko, for that matter, but I knew she would be a while. I ordered both of them at the end of their respective sales periods.

I ordered my first Niko in May, so long as she isn't shipped together with the second I ordered in August, sounds like I might be close to next. Also ordered from BJDivas so potential extra time from waiting on a big group shipment.

 

I guarantee that last shipment will be a big one! Hopefully they'll send some of the earlier ones out before then, because I want to live vicariously through those of you who weren't putting off getting her.

 

When I asked about the Niko I ordered from BJDivas at the end of Feb and they said probably not before the end of the year. Here’s hoping that it comes early.

 

Does anyone know how to add a page to the wiki? It would be nice to start an actual waiting list. I also noticed that Shoushou Doll isn't on the dollmakers list as well.

What I'm currently waiting for:
Gouhuai and Niko (+ all the heads) - BJDivas (Aug 2020)
Qing Cang (head) - Moonlight BJD (Sept 2020)

 

It's a little frustrating to see that even orders from Feb haven't been shipped. I put my order in for Niko back in June/july and thought that since covid restrictions are a bit more relaxed and shipping international has recovered, a 6 month wait would be sufficient and I'd have her by christmas, but based on what I'm seeing orders from this period likely won't arrive until march 2021.

 

Ugh... oh no... I know here in California we're moving backwards and tightening up with restrictions again. We just hit one million cases here.

 

I ordered a Gouhai head back in June. I contacted BJDivas asking for an update and according to them Shoushou is finishing some head this month, but they haven't been contacted about shipping yet. With this I am guessing that they probably won't ship till late January/ February.
On a side note, for those of you who placed SD head orders, what bodies have you been considering? I have been looking at a few bodies. The one I have liked the most so far has been the 2D Doll 68 cm body. The Shoushou body has a 10.5 cm neck and the 2D body has a 10 cm neck. The 2D body is a tiny bit wider in the shoulders but I think I prefer this. To me, the overall proportions matter more than resin match. I can always paint the head to match the body so I am not too worried in that regard.
I am interested to hear some of your opinions

 

I agree, proportion is what matters more than resin.
For my Qing Cang head I plan to put him on a DF-A body (68cm). I ordered the full doll of GouHuai so we will see how they will look.

 

Hi all! I'm still waiting for my Gouhuai through bjddivas. I'm sad but also glad others are still waiting from this period.... I thought maybe I'd been forgotten. Sucks we have to wait so long. In the meantime, I've taken the plunge and asked for a layaway on a volks sd17 body for my guy. I want him to be tall and lanky compared to my short and stocky feeple hybrid boy, and taller than my supia-hybrid girl. I may have to do some mods to make the necks compatible and blush the bodies to match, but I like a challenge.

 

I am glad that you guys already picked a body I still have yet to decide lol. I discovered the Aimerai 68 cm body and now the 2D doll 68 cm body has competition. They are both so lovely but I don't trust myself enough to order the body before. I will probably have to wait for the head to get here. Unless I fall into self peer pressure and take the plunge haha

Restock? They discontinued her because she was too complicated to cast.

 

I have asked my agent and Shoushou actually told them they might bring her back in the near future since she's popular. Not sure about BJDivas restocking but I went to Taobao. And I don't mind if they bring back the human body version if ver2 was complicated.

 

@Mewmoo I know Divas said they ordered a few sets of her to have in stock when they finally get shipped. So there's that too.

 

Also, if the complications were about the resin hair they could try to separate the bangs from the back hair? Sio2 Doll I believe does that technique. I hope she will be back eventually even if it's the human version - without the resin hair, I really love her happy face sculpt.

I missed out on the Niko pre-order and I contacted the company on Instagram and also got a replay that they're planning to release her again due to her popularity.

 

I feel like a re-release is a little duplicitous ( like they were artificially boosting their sales with the discontinuation notice ) and that they're also basing this decision off of the swamp of orders they received when they said she would be discontinued. People of course would buy her in a rush if they think they are losing the chance to buy a unique doll for good - heck they only had her on the market for 5 months before saying it would be discontinued!. There's no guarantee that order volumes would remain anywhere near as high on a re-release considering that everyone who wanted her desperately has just bought her based on the discontinuation notice.

But I suppose they can always just discontinue her again "for real" if they don't get the expected sales. I'm a bit salty though

 

I'm very sure the reason she was originally discontinued was due to casting problems, not that ShouShou wanted to end her availability time. Considering that SIO2 and other companies that do sculpts a lot like Niko are niche and sold out very fast, I don't doubt the high orders would continue- her original announcement/release was very quiet outside of say BJDivas.

Sorry if I came off abrasive, but I was one of the few people who didn't get the memo of her being discontinued to begin with, until I got word on DoA, as I was more focused on ShouShou's larger sculpts that were discontinued within a month before due to casting company problems as well(?).

 

@diamondust yeah, I get that. Niko was on my "someday" list and got bumped to my "immediately" list when I thought she would be gone forever. I wouldn't call myself salty over it, though. She was always planned to be ordered... someday. And it's not like I missed out on buying a different doll because of ordering her.

I saw on the BJDivas facebook group about adult Zilangs being finished and it just being a matter of shipping them overseas now, so that's exciting. I'm still paying him off, but when I hear word that he's actually in, I'm going to go ahead and finish the layaway. I've waited long enough

 

Not abrasive at all, I do still think it's great for all the people who do missed out! I'm still happy for them, especially since it means we'll see more owner pics of her. I do think they wouldn't have seen an increase in numbers they way they did without the notice, but there's no way to really know now I guess. They did end her because of casting issues, but what are they going to do about those same casting issues if they make her available again? Maybe just offer her w/o the wig? Bringing her back just because she's popular even while they still have casting issues could be problematic for quality and wait times, which I don't view as a good decision.

Anyways I finished paying my layaway off today Hooray! I was hoping I'd have had a notice by now regarding her being shipped off to BJDivas or something but alas. I'm might message them to see if they have any news but it's unlikely. Fingers crossed!

Anyone have any ideas and plans for their girl when she gets here?

 

When I first put mine on layaway I started playing with color edits and I ended up making too many versions I liked, lol, so I still haven't decided! I'm thinking maybe dying the clear resin bits a nice aqua color and using purples and pinks for the blushing/faceup. But I also like her in fall colors with oranges and greens, or she'd also be cute with red and black

 

I emailed bjdivas again recently and they just got back to me saying shoushou hopes to send the first shipment of nikos soon! Fingers crossed that it's this month. I assume those of us that ordered in february should be included in that shipment.

I've decided to make her a farm witch named Nutmeg. I'm so ready to make her some farm dresses like in Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons!

 

I heard back from BJDivas this morning as well and was advised shipping would start in March for those that ordered close to/during the discontinuation period. Feels so bad for the people who ordered her last feb.
