Shoushou Doll 1/4 Discussion

@PChu Here's a comparison between my Niko (normal) and Coco (tan), if that helps some -- both received this year, no sun exposure. Shoushoudoll is the lightest tan I have for all my tan dolls. I can show other tan skin dolls with my Coco body if you want to see comparisons. I do have some normal skin dolls just not for Fairyland or Souldoll — but I have peach skin for Dollzone.

 

Yes please for comparisons with the tan. I'm a little worried I just bought a body that won't match but I won't know for a few more months. Sigh.

 

ooh! I have a Coco in Semi-White, Normal, AND Tan (I really like the coco sculpt...lol). I'll grab a comparison under white light for you

edit: I see there's already a comparison...now I'm second guessing, my Coco Normal and Tan are barely different at all. Anyway, the hands are top→bottom, Semi-white, Normal, Tan:




Wondering if I was sold a Normal and they just called it Tan loool. Though the color is subtly different.

@PChu Here are some comparisons with other brand's resins with white natural light and a white light. Again, this is Shoushoudoll normal and tan received new in summer 2022, so I don't know if it's different from previous years.

@Tweendoriru @karlyl thank you thank you thank you both!! The normal and tan are so close. I think I'll just have to cross my fingers and see if the body matches when it comes. Either way it can't be too far off since the difference is so mild.

I ordered the chubby 1/4 body from Guard Love in normal. I'll post pictures when it arrives.

 

Does anyone know if Shoushou tends to re-release any of their dolls? I recently came across the Coco face mold and fell in love! Unfortunately, it was on Ali Express, under the Gaoshun company, which I'm pretty sure is known for selling recasts of other artists' work. I tracked the face mold as belonging to Shoushou's Coco --at the very least, it's extremely similar--, but I'm afraid I'm late to the party and she's sold out, at least on the BJDivas site. Any idea if there are plans to re-release her, or if there are any legitimate places to find her, or even just her head?

 

They've done at least one re-release of Niko, so hopefully they'll re-release the others, too! I'm honestly hoping yes, I skipped Coco when she was available, but now that I've seen owner photos I have regrets myself, so I've got my fingers crossed!

A little late, but I know Shoushou was structuring their colors to Volks DD for their anime girls (hence the ridiculously light tan). If the body ends up not working out for you, you may have better luck asking about Volks DD tan for a color match rather than to Shoushou directly.

 

I noticed that! I was wondering if it was specific to the newer dolls in that style. Hopefully I can get a match pretty easily, even if I just have to wait.

 

Question - does anyone have a Coco/Doudou on the body with the bunny feet? I got one recently, and I can't for the life of me get it to stand The bodies with the human feet are so easy...for some reason the bunny feet just won't balance. Is this normal??

 

I can't speak specifically for the bunny feet since I don't have them but it's usually a lot of wiggling. They might look straight but they might not be. If the socket keeps moving, it might be a good idea to suede them a bit. By design the feet are smaller so it will be harder to pose for sure.


I am getting a white skin Niko head soon and from my understanding, it would match Volks DD white, is that correct? I haven't made a hybrid in soooo long... White can be so different from one company to the next especially if it match volks dd white.

Anyone have tried Niko on an mdd body? I don't plan on putting the head on it but as my crew are mdd I wouldn't want Niko to feel out of scale too much.

 

Super excited, my Coco and Niko are finished with their faceups from Angeltoast! Cannot wait to finish styling the girls, they are soooo cute right now pics soon!

I'd been checking BJDivas periodically, just on the off chance that they miiight magically get another Coco in stock someday. Seemed unlikely, but hope springs eternal, as they say. So last Saturday, I was browsing the in-stock selection, and there she was! It was just the one in stock, so maybe they unearthed her from somewhere, or someone ordered one and it fell through somehow. So I finally have a Coco on her way to me! I've been kind of holding my breath all week, certain that I was going to receive an email that there had been some kind of error and my order was being canceled. But the other day I received a shipping invoice, so it seems like she's actually coming home!

I'm not entirely sure what to expect. The price for this listing was quite a bit higher than what she is normally priced at on their site. So I don't know if that means maybe she'll come with something like eyes or a wig. But the listing was listed as "blank/nude doll," and usually with in-stock items, they'll tell you if it includes anything extra. So maybe she was priced higher just because she was the only one they had? I honestly didn't think too hard about it at the time; I just smashed that "add to cart" button!

So if anyone is still looking for her, don't give up! You never know if one might pop up again!

 

@ilovecake congrats on getting your Coco! I'm sure you'll enjoy her a lot, she is soooo cute hahaha. Divas does sometimes mark up prices for in stock stuff. But if she's what you wanted and especially when she's not easy to get, markups can be just the way it goes. I have never gotten extras like eyes or wigs when ordering from Divas -- they did include a mini Inkari Alpaca once since I ordered a lot of alpacas through them previously (which was very nice because Inkari is expensive), but usually it's just the doll in my experience. Hope that helps and can't wait to see what you do with your Coco!

 

Thanks for the info! I'm super-excited! I am starting to get a little concerned, though. I paid the shipping invoice on Feb 11th, and I haven't heard anything since or received a shipping notification. I'm still new to BJDivas and ordering BJDs in general, so I don't know if it's normal for there to be a waiting period on in stock items? From what information I've gathered, I thought once the shipping invoice was paid, that meant the doll was ready to ship out. But maybe that's not how it works?

I don't mind waiting at all. I just want to make sure everything is going okay. At what point should I reach out and ask? I don't want to seem demanding. I'm just curious. I just want to make sure my order didn't fall through or anything.

 

@ilovecake I wouldn't feel bad about reaching out, it's been a couple weeks since you paid the invoice and sometimes things get missed if they didn't confirm receipt of the payment to you.

 

@ilovecake I know they had some illness going through their staff recently (and also have a very small post office), right around the time you said you paid the invoice. I'd second shooting them a quick message to see where things are standing.

 

My gal is complete! BUT I can't find clothes to fit her!! I tried a bunch f different sizes and nothing worked! Arg!! She's still naked!

 

I was wondering about clothes, as these girls seem to have a very distinct body shape. Etsy or having an outfit commissioned might be the best bet for finding something that fits.

Also, my Coco has officially shipped! I was going to give it another day or two before checking in, but the shipping notice appeared in my inbox, saving me the trouble. She's due to arrive on Monday! So excited!

This American Girl Wellie Wishers outfit I had lying around fits surprisingly well! The shirt fits perfectly. The shorts took a little tugging to get over her hips, but they have elastic in the back, so they went on pretty easily. And once they were on, they didn't seem tight on her at all. Wellie Wishers have slightly longer torsos, so the straps on the overalls sit a little loosely. But I think Wellie Wisher clothing is definitely a good option for these dolls! I haven't explored shoe options yet (the shoes for this outfit have gone missing), but at least she's not naked! The sunglasses are from American Girl Melody's accessories. They are of course, ridiculously huge, but I think Coco's rocking them!

She looks amazing! Congrats on getting her home! My wallet thanks you for adopting her, cuz I was totally eyeballing her with an itchy finger when I saw her pop up on Divas... Hope you'll share lots of pics as you play with her and give her your finishing touches. She looks crazy cute in those overalls.

Would anyone happen to have a comparison of the Shoushou tan versus Obitsu/AP tan and/or DD tan?

 

Can anyone with a Dodo tell me if she can take 18mm eyes? I'm worried 20s will be too full for my taste, but don't know if I can size down or would need to buy a slim 20.

Here is the link! I'm pretty sure it's their official taobao. And yeah I'm so sad recasters got their stuff the dolls are so cute, I hate that I can't trust buying secondhand to get Niko!

I already talked to Christine and she said she couldn't order it, I went to Alice's collection now but I'm waiting for a response. I'd rather buy from a dealer I trust than use a proxy that doesn't usually deal with fragile dolls.

Do you know bjdhiner? It's a Taobao proxy which I think specialises in bjds

 

You can buy just the head, it's 488 or 468 yuan depending on which one you want. I think the deposit is 200 yuan then you pay the rest after? I don't fully understand their preorder form.

I have heard of bjdbhiner but I don't know how reliable it is. I'll look into it more if Alice or legenddoll can't proxy. And I'm not sure exactly why Christina can't, she just said they hadn't sold them in her country for about a year.

 

Please let me know if acbjd or legendoll can do it.
I wonder if the original Coco head still comes with the tongue part. It's not in the pictures of the blank heads.

Btw have you seen the Maydoll lemon cat sculpt? It's also a cute open mouth with teeth and tongue showing sculpt. So a bit similar (less energetic I think) and it is currently up for preorder on newcloversinging and janesdollland.

 

I have ordered some items from BJD Bhiner before and it went alright, but not dolls. A little bit slow in correspondence and shipping but my items were packed appropriately. You have to be careful because there are fakes on there too (their site just scrapes taobao listings for bjd-related items) if you have a legit link you can paste it into their search bar and order it that way. Just for future reference since Coco can't be ordered right now. It is an option, but I agree that working through our well-known dealers is a safer bet when it comes to dolls.

I got my Dodo through Luts and they were selling Coco's head separately. So I guess it is possible to order their dolls that way if you want to hybrid. I think you missed it by just a few weeks Coco and Dodo and the little beans versions were still able to order from them last time I checked on my order status, but sold out when I checked today. They don't have any listing for Nico though, I hope she re-releases too.

 

I really like the Maydoll Serval, but I don't know how much I like the chubby body. If I was more confident in knowing the resin colour maybe I would hybrid onto a more mature body? It has a smug look to it, which I like! I'm glad to see more anime sculpts in the resin world!

 

Thank you for letting me know! I have had good experiences with Superbuy if you were looking to try a different proxy service. I found their shipping very good and they took pictures of all my items when they came to their warehouse. They also have the option to add additional protection to packaging if you worry about damage in transit. I have not heard great things about them handling preorders of dolls though. I would however very much reccomend them for in stock items. I have purchased outfits, eyes, and stands with them before.

It's just my luck that I would barely miss them!!! Ah well, I guess I have more time to think about how I would like to customize and dress them haha

 

I heard previous batches did match mdd semi white. I actually asked newcloversinging and they confirmed it matches again. Honestly I do not 100% trust newcloversinging on information since I feel they not always understand English that well, but it's a good bet.

I wish newcloversinging had the mdd normal skin, I asked her if she can add it. Let's hope.

It's so tempting to pick up extra heads! The new expressions are so cute... I love the smug smirking face~ I only ordered the original face for now, but someday maybe my collection will grow (and my wallet will cry)

Hi! Would anyone happen to have some pictures of MYou white or normal skin tones next to Shoushou Doll skin tones? I'm hoping to make a hybrid with a Wind head and a Coco Cat body

Myou normal and semi white do not match. Normal is too yellow and semiwhite is pink. I think Myou pink might be a better match.

I have a Kaniboom in mia white. I think this color is good match too.

Edit: I am an idiot. I have just checked my Kaniboom doll is semi white too.

 

Newcloversinging has added mdd normal as skin color for the Coco heads. It's +50usd though O.o
that's a lot extra cost for just a head and a non tan skin tone

 

My bunny Doudou arrived from Luts today!!!!
It took her about 5 months and 3 weeks from the order placed. I can't wait to give her a face up and show her off. I ordered her in SWS, so I will also take some color comparison pictures later with SWS DD parts.

Interestingly, I got two COAs with my doll. Maybe for the head and body? Also interestingly, she came with a magnetic tail, but no extra magnet with which to attach it to her, and no magnet hidden inside the body either. I did not plan on using this in the first place, but I was tempted to try it out and she said NOPE!

I know your post is quite old, but I hoped you may have pictures of the Coco head on guardlove chubby body? Especially since you said your head is the mdd normal skin.
I am trying to decide on the skin color for the current Coco preorder and knowing hybrids would help a lot (I am torn between mdd normal and semi-white. I think semi white will be easier to hybrid, but I prefer non white dolls)

 

@Pyoko I actually had to dye my GL body to match the head so for resin comparison, it won't be very useful The original color of the body was way too... yellow toned. MDD normal is going to match Kumako plain and a few darker normals but ones with a pink rather than yellow undertone. I can still share pictures of the dyed match if you want.

I would love to see a naked picture for the proportions though, if you have one. The neck fits well?

Sorry I'm just posting a link. I can't remember my Flickr password Kitty Coco + GL is on the right. These photos are from before the dye so you can see the original color difference too. I'll have a new one with the dye job soon. Neck fits well. I think it would look just a little bit better if the neck were 1-2mm shorter but once the hair and clothes are on, it looks really nice.
