Wow! Yes I love your new daughter!!!!! The ears are amazing.

How did I miss Nanoha? Those ears are spectacular, and I love the expression on her face. She looks like a girl nobody messes with!

I am so happy now that summer has finally arrived. I might actually get a chance to get my girl some clothes made up. She is a hybrid of Thaasa IIIs body and an elfdoll head. I want to make a flowy fairy type dress, but haven't made up my mind about material.

 

calliope13 Elfdoll heads are amazing on the Thaasa bodies. Which head is it?

 

I ordered Geta feet for Tegan (ShinyDoll Yakki). I think I'll have them next week. Then to find some sandals and Geta's for her.

 

I found a ShinyDoll Sayuki on a Thaasa I body for sale. She is being sold as "junk" on mandrake, so I feel like I have to rescue her (I'm such a sucker for a doll in need). If she is still in stock I'll get her, I've sent an order inquiry. I can't find many pics of Sayuki and the mandrake pics are terrible; her jaw looks really heavy & square. Her face looks to be heavily yellowed, too but it could be shadows and/ or blushing. I hope if she comes to me I can at least get her cleaned up and moved on to a good home, if I don't end up keeping her. Does anyone have pics of Sayuki? There are a few on the SD site but not very many since she's discontinued.

Aw, I'm sad I missed the Sayuki...she was one of the first dolls I fell in love with and I've always kept an eye out for one popping up in the marketplace.

I have the Thaasa body on order and wondered if anyone knew what TTYA clothing fitted? Saba - is the t-shirt on Tuyen from them?

 

Saraht yes, that is a TTYA t-shirt Tuyen is wearing, but please note Tuyen is on the first issue Thaasa body which is more flat chested than the later Thaasa bodies- maybe someone with a third generation body (is that what you are getting?) could help you out. If it helps my original body Supia wore this t-shirt fine with no problems (she was also petite, but with a more ample bust)

Here is my new Thaasa Hybrid with a Panda Workshop 'Dou' head. i just love the poseability of this body.

 

Is this thread still alive? My little Gunj (Mongolian for Princess) in my studio. She is a Nanae on a 50 cm Obitsu body. I really like the proportions of her head on this smaller body.

 

Gunj looks great on that body cirquemom i was hoping my replacement Eefee head would fit a body I already have for at least awhile, but no luck so far. The SDGr body did not work and a couple others were awful as well. I don't know if a new SD body would match the head either since the head is older.

 

The heads are small and delicate- so I can see why one wouldn't work on an SD10 body. It would be too chunky I would think! I like the head on the Obitsu 50 cm body, it is actually really nice in terms of proportions and at least in normal skin it was a pretty nice match. Although now several years later the head has yellowed more than the body. But it is still reasonable.

Is shinydoll still in business?

 

Unfortunately I think not. Doi Shin, the owner/artist has not posted in almost a year and links to the former website take you to nothing. Tis a shame, lovely dolls, glad I purchased one.

 

I saw Shin in October and he's had to cut back on doll making time recently, hence lack of promo, but he was hoping to do new sculpts etc once things settle down.

I'm not sure where the site has gone though.

 

@babytarragon, I'm so glad to know you've seen Shin-san recently! A close friend of mine ordered an Aria through Oobiedoll before Christmas, and that seemed like a good sign -- still, I couldn't help worrying because the Shinydoll website was gone. I hope everything goes smoothly for Shin-san, not just so he can return to sculpting before too long, but because he's a wonderful person.

 

I have a Thassa III with a Yakki head and love her

 

My Thaasa I's and III bodies will always stay in my collection, while others come and go (or stay). After twelve years in the bjd hobby, to me, Thaasa is the very best bjd body for posing and stability. I'm so glad Babytarragon knows Shin is ok and it's great to hear he'll again be sculpting darling girls, when time permits. My constant appreciation and best wishes to Shin!

 

I love my ShinyDolls! Still have them all Chizune is still on my wish list, as is the mermaid ear elf head Nanoha (I think is her name). I'd be super thrilled to see some new Fragille sculpts as well. I'm glad to hear Shin-san is OK and I hope the website comes back. ShinyDoll is still my #1 favorite doll company!

I purchased my Akali direct from Shin-san, he was so very nice and helpful.

Also good to know one can order via Oobiedoll, I didn't know this! I've been out of the bjd loop for sometime due to life/work etc.
I still love my bjds and hope to once again get back into the hobby/life very soon!

To be clear, I last saw Shin-san in October and trying to contact him now. He doesnt use any social media at all so its a little awkward getting hold of him.

I'm not sure whether the email I have for him was hosted by his web provider (nifty.jp) and so emails won't go through. Its odd for him not to reply.

I text a personal number I had for him from a few years ago yesterday, but possible he could also have changed his phone. Waiting for a reply.

 

If you do manage to get in touch with him, please tell him that we all wish him well!

I had plans to send a doll in to have parts
replaced, and possibly order new heads..

Either way, also keeping fingers crossed we'll

I wish he would design male dolls, or at least one. My Thassa III Yakki needs a ShinyDoll fellow.

 

Glad to know he is still around and doing ok. I got a bit worried when I tried to go to his old site and got nothing. Right now I am making all sorts of new clothes for my girl. I love love love the Thaasa body. She is such a great poser. I will likely get another body (with a Shinydoll head this time) at some point in the future. I will post pics when I finish and can get her decent. Right now she has a top but no bottoms.

She's lovely! The double mirror makes it look like she has two high set ponytails. It's actually a very cute look!

 

Thank you Pony! I didn't notice the high set ponytail look, but now you mention, I can see it I may have to find her a wig like this, it gives her a bit of an anime look!

I wish I could find a Hikali head (or hear back from Mr. Shin about whether or not you can buy a new one)! I know she is Akali's smaller counterpart, and I love the simplicity of her face. It's funny, because I started out wanting to mod a Unoa faceplate onto the Shiny Doll body, but now I think the Hikali head is so cute they will have to share!

I can't get the link given to the new website to work (LaCoocan 初期ページ) - but I'll try back again later.

 

Unfortunately the website is still down but it seems you can order Shinydolls through the Oobiedoll website. I was worried at first because Shinydoll is still my favourite doll company and my Feefee is my absolute grail doll. I'd still love to own one or two more, maybe one more Thaasa and one Fragille....

 

I still love my Shinydoll Yakki, but I will not be getting any other ShinyDolls. I love how delicate she is and wish there was a male ShinyDoll to be her Significant other. I have gotten interested in Danny Choo's SmartDolls. He does males along with females. I have one female, Ebony Futaba, and two males, Crimson and LeLouch. One of these days I am going to see if LeLouch will get along with Melty, my DDS or Mirai II my DD.

 

I've finally been getting my dolls out of storage.
And was wondering if there is anywhere we can get the Geta feet?

@Mechakal, have you tried browsing Etsy?
IIRC, I've seen some BJD sized ones there before.
Shinydolls appear to have narrow feet though,
so maybe a custom order will do the trick,
if all else fails.

Your dolls have more toes-y geta feet then?
I should've been quicker to get ones for my doll..

 

When I bought my ShinyDoll from JPop years ago, a bit later I asked Grace to order some Geta feet for me. They are wonderful.

Because I do worry the chipped leg bit on
