Wearables Sewing Project: The Alternative Styles: Lolita/Decora/Gothic/Punk/Steampunk/etc. [ Round 148 ]

Jul 1, 2025

    1. I appreciate the compliments. I can't really take credit for the design, since it's based on a 1/3 SartoriaJ top, but it's nice to hear that my execution of it looks good.

    2. Thanks everyone who complimented my dress despite me attaching the bodice panels wrong. I forgot to post the finished project with the craziness of attending a renaissance fair this weekend, so hopefully I'm not too late. The collar doesn't cover my mistake of putting the dress together wrong at all- but seeing it on my doll, I don't think it matters. It still ended up fitting fine. I'm actually excited to have a second go at this pattern in the future.

On a side note, I was so happy to receive the bag she's holding this week only to find out it's not actually black like my monitor showed. At least it will motivate me to sew more- she needs a brown outfit to match her new bag.

    3. @SunnyPinkSky Oh, that dress in beyond adorable!
I think could easily get away with brown bag if you coordinate it with brown shoes. The early days of loita fashion wasn't as heavy on on matching absolutely everything as the later styles.
      She looks amazing. :D

    5. @SunnyPinkSky This looks absolutely precious on your girl! I’m truly loving all the details and utilization of lace on this outfit. That white collar adds so much to the overall look too…what a lovely detail.:)

And that bag…what a find! It’s the kind of accessory that really adds character to your doll (one can certainly imagine her as a music student for instance.) I’m in total agreement with you that a brown-inspired Lolita dress of some sort is definitely warranted! Anything that encourages our sewing, right?

    6. Thank you! Aha you're right about the bag, if only I could get ahold of some brown lolita style shoes. Unfortunately I've made the choice not to purchase the flat feet for her, so shoe options are a lot more limited. :sigh I might have to try my hand at making some.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I can totally picture her as a music student now! I wonder what she would play. :XD:
