Wearables Sewing Project: Seasonal [ Round 134 ]

May 1, 2024

    1. I have patterns and graphics... But haven't done any sewing yet, because I'm the queen of procrastination. :doh

    2. @elve That blouse goes so perfectly with those leggings…it’s such a sweet summer look, and the footwear you made for her goes wonderfully with the whole ensemble. Kudos to you for a job well done!:thumbup

I finally finished the overskirt for the country Lolita outfit I’m working on. Yikes…so much hand sewing required between all that trim and ruffles!:dohThis is how it looks closed (it has fun working buttons down the front so it can be worn closed or open over an underskirt.) There’s still a little time left this month so I’m going to use some of my scraps to make some cute ruffled wrist cuffs to go with it. Then I’ll post a photo of the completed outfit on my doll.

    3. Strawberries are super seasonal indeed! I love the fabric you've picked @PoeticSoul !

    4. But it looks SO pretty!

    5. Thank you @PoeticSoul :aheartbea Wow that skirt is a work of art - beautiful I'd wear it myself if I was small enough LOL (Lolita fashion is how I got into BJD of course) I don't think I will ever be patient enough to make anything that detailed with tiny buttons too

@dm_sof I too am a terrible procrastinator, which is why I've just been diving in so far & cutting up the fabric with no plan, in a rather slapdash way - because plans are there to be resisted with all my strength LOL - I'd never get started!

    6. Hooray:cheerfor finally being done with this outfit! Multiple pieces painstakingly done over 3 months of these project threads…but I stuck with it to the very end (and there’s even two other coordinating blouses to match.) I’m happy because I designed it to work in a lot of different combinations for different looks, so I’ll get a lot of extra bang for my efforts. Whew! So glad it’s done (and now I know why it took me an entire decade to tackle an outfit like this.)*_*

    7. Yay! It looks great!

    8. It looks so perfect @PoeticSoul ! I'm sure that's an outfit that can be cherished for a very long time!

@dm_sof Ugh me too I haven't started either. I will whip whatever it is out in one sitting... I still believe in my ability to get it done! For some reason I made Marina an entirely different backlogged dress instead of working on this. Tragic

    9. I have printed out graphics and two shirt pattern sizes and still haven't gotten the scale correct. Ugh. The problem with scaling patterns but not wanting to waste paper by doing it the standard way. :sigh

    10. Sounds like the standard way may have wasted less paper...?

    11. Wow! That turned out so good. Congratulations on finishing the project!
Do you think you will make more matching pices to make a full warderobe for her? Asking because I have realy enjoyed seeing this outfit take form and I sure wouldn't mind seeing you make more. :whee:
Perhaps a head piece of some sort? Or a bag? Or more skirts? :abambi:

    12. You are not wrong. I'm going to try again later today.

    13. Whew, coming in towards the end, I've been loving seeing all the projects! Such a variety of fabulous pieces, one of the best parts about this sewing challenge, I think. Like holy cow, entire shoes! Major kudos to everyone, what incredible work!

(I don't have pictures, but Thalassus does have shorts now.)

    14. Good luck!

      Yay!

    15. Thanks for all your lovely comments everyone. It’s greatly appreciated.:)

No…I feel I’m completely done with this one (and quite happy about it too!) I have no need of a headdress because I have an entire collection of amazing SD-sized hats by a very artistic hatmaker on Etsy, so I can just happily pull something fabulous from that collection for a finished look to this outfit. Lucky me!:thumbup

But I may tackle another Lolita outfit someday…now that I’ve learned the skills needed here and developed my patterns.;)

    16. Hehe, fair enough.

    17. Well, we arrive at the last night of May. I decided I did not care to sew my project amongst my many other cares and obligations. It was nice to ride along and see the other creations though!
