That's awesome! You've inspired me. Those will be perfect for the coming Recycle thread Awwww I hope you will feel better soon! Can't wait to see it.
It's adorable, and I'm sure your new girl will look fab in it when she arrives. Sounds very innovative. Teddy
Howdy everyone, hope you are all well! Here's an update in case I don't meet the deadline! I changed plans quite a bit in the process and have a bit more sewing to do, but she's headed in the right direction: IMPLdoll Vanessa; New dress by Coulombe, on Flickr Poor IMPLdoll Vanessa looks a bit matronly, but that is a nice contrast to my other kiddos. Once I apply the closures to the back, I expect a better fit. My original model Knowing (Luts event head) wouldn't take her new dress off. It wasn't at all to the theme for this month!
Well, I finished the top of my outfit ! Don't know if I will make a pant or another thing to match. But, here is Daria. The back : Well, I'm not very satisfied of what I done. :/ She have a very special body (like too many of my dolls lol) and it looks like it's too big for her. :/ I will think about it later, not have the head for that. ^^' edit : the skirt is not from me, it's from her original outfit from Mystic Dolls
@Moonycat31 . Adorable! I love the attention to tiny details and the color looks most excellent for her tan skin! Well done!
@WintyGummyBear . Rouching is the term I know it as. The fabric is stretch mesh, so it's super easy to do because the fabric doesn't unravel when you cut it and the seams not at all bulky for it!
@Moonycat31 That’s a wonderful print fabric, and I love all the little details you’ve added. I can empathize with the issues of size with dolls with unusual bodies. I’m dealing with exactly the same thing with a few of mine as well, so I know how difficult it can be.
And the latest round is now up! /threads/sewing-project-mori-style-dark-mori-cottagecore-round-115.861714/
@Teddy , @cthulhu, @PoeticSoul , thank you for your comments @WintyGummyBear , your girl looks great! Love the transparent sleeves and pink ribbon elements. @PoeticSoul , that outfit is so neat! I didn't notice the electric cables at first, they fit right in with the rest of decorations. The look is eclectic and at the same time really well balanced. @Valdemagra , lovely color and texture combination. @Moonycat31 , Cute! All the decorative details look very nice. The hussar jacket is finished. It was even on time (2 hours before September ended ), but I had to wait to take pictures. Hussar jacket - front by helgie, on Flickr Spoiler: more photos Frogging on the front in progress: Hussar jacket - progress 3 by helgie, on Flickr Full body view (please disregard the skirt - it is better than bare legs, but not at all what I had in mind for this outfit): Hussar jacket - finished by helgie, on Flickr Back: Hussar jacket - back by helgie, on Flickr And the purpose of the long cords at the collar (+ the generic pirate/poet shirt that I put together instead of lining): Hussar jacket - aka pelisse by helgie, on Flickr
Thank you! I'm very happy with how it came out . The silver cord is sewn onto the fabric. I used a thin beading needle and black thread. The thread mostly went through the cord so it wouldn't show, though at the ends of loops and in some places where the cord refused to cooperate the thread is on top of the cord for a more secure hold. The first photo under the spoiler shows the progress of the pattern: first the smaller side loops bottom-to-top, then the longer loops with buttons/beads top-to-bottom. Ends of the cord are secured on the reverse side of the fabric.
The jacket came out so nice! You did a wonderful job. If you're interested in seeing more instances of this type of technic you can look up embroidery couching videos on Youtube. You'll often see this type of detailing in goldwork embroidery, but it also gets used in other embroidery work.
@helgie . I always admire your projects. That jacket is fabulous! I still dream of doing an apron with cross-stitching, like I've seen you do. Maybe I can incorporate the idea into the next theme. Hummmm.
Ohh I will look into that. I need to learn how to do embroidery for sure. I've been scared trying it for a very long time It would really help a lot with detail on the outfits. Thank you so much!
Those silver details are gorgeous! Amazing work. I haven't updated here in a while, and that's because I am (unsurprisingly) not done I'm still working through fit issues with the blouse draft, but I think this should be the last draft before I can finally sew the actual blouse itself. Since I'm not really a huge fan of October's sewing challenge theme this time, I think I'll just keep working on this one and try and finish it before November! Not sure if anyone else will still be lurking this thread by then? I really like this theme so I feel more motivated than usual to actually push through and try to get things done.
Ooooh! I like how the light blue drapes up the sides of the dress. Pretty! Well done! It looks awesome! Makes me think of the uniform my husband wore for our wedding Teddy
