Wearables Sewing Project: Fairytale [ Round 102 ]

Sep 1, 2021

    1. It happens That's what the Unfinsihed business rounds are for if you had a started byut otherwise untouched project, and it's what future rounds are for if you didn't get started at all.

Best of luck for life treating you better this month.

    2. OK, so I finally fi nished the last princesses dress and took some (hasty) shots of her.

Here a mere ten years on from the original event it was inteneded for, is Pricess Edith in her Renaissance gown:

    3. That is such a gorgeous green. It's always a good feeling to finally finish something, even if it does take years.

    4. That’s is beautiful, well worth the wait. Your doll looks wonderful in it. I love it! :)

    5. Thanks @thedarkeststar13 and @mydaffer It's nice to have it finally made.

Now, of couorse I need to finish most of the other eleven dresses.

They didn't get fastenings and accessories at the time - they were sewn or pinned closed on the day of the event. I've added fastenigns to some of them but there are a couple of underbodices and some over sleeves still lacking.

Me and my mountain of unfinished projects...

    6. In the spirit of better late than never, an update on Ayleen's fairytale outfit: the shirt is done

Crosstitch on the sleeves (1 mm crosses):

The embroidered collar didn't make it onto the shirt, and will wait for another project.
In the last couple of days I also sewed the trousers and started on the coat, so there's hope that Ayleen will get her winter photos in the complete outfit. But I'm still busy, and also have ideas for October's Sewing Project :sweat

It was a pleasure to come back to this topic and page through all the progress and see the beautiful outfits.
@PoeticSoul , your girls' kimonos are adorable, as always.
@Azure Agape , beautiful skirt, best of luck finishing the outfit!
@Valdemagra , nice crochet, I like the white-yellow-black color combination.
@5akuraD1va , the wings look super neat, and the whole look suits your girl very well.
@Teddy , congratulations on making progress on an old project, you're an inspiration :3nodding: The dress looks great!

So often life gets in the way of our creative pursuits, or inspiration wains, or time just gets away from us. Your efforts on that beautiful gown are a wonderful reminder for the designer in all of us to never give up on something we truly want to create no matter how long it tales!:)

Ayleen is a very lucky girl indeed to be able to wear your lovely and delicate crosstitch embroidery. You truly have a talent for it and it adds so much to her outfits. It’s such fine work…so tiny and gorgeous!:D

    11. Honestly @PoeticSoul, it's these monthly sewing projects that give me the impetus to keep working on stuff, more than anything else.
